We stopped in here to meet a friend from out of town and were pleasantly surprised at the local vibes of this off the beaten path bar. The burgers and bar apps were really good and all at very affordable prices. Parking is on the street only but shouldn't be difficult. Service was great on this quiet night. Seems like a local hangout at the small bar in the back right side. Setup was nice but a bit tight for space. The bartender was also the server and was attentive with refills and asking if everything was ok. The food was very tasty and the Steak & Cheese sub was tender and very good. First few times I ordered takeout, it was very good. However, the last two times, not so much. Ordered Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion, and fries each time. Got soggy fries. Two tiny pieces of lettuce shreds, a slice of tomato that wasn't even a full slice and was paper thin, and two tiny pieces of onion. Also ordered the Buffalo chicken salad which is normally made with Romaine lettuce and in the past has been quite good. This time it was shredded iceberg lettuce that had a lot of brown indicating that it wasn't fresh. Very disappointing and won't be going back. read more

Let's go back to 2016. I was here working on the Tappen Zee project. Brand new into town and trying to get to know this little place. I walked in the Half and asked the bartender for a jack and coke. She looked at me and introduced herself, and we've been cousins ever since. The people in this bar took me in like a long lost brother. Not only did the regulars take me under their wing, they treated me like I've always lived here. So much, that I moved up here from downstate. The food is awesome. There isn't one thing on the menu that I don't like. This is one of our favorite places! It's great for a quick bite to eat or hang out as long as you'd like. The menu has typical bar food, Moosearella sticks (named after the owner Moose who is also the mayor of Ravena), wings, wraps, burgers, etc. The food is great and the prices you can't beat. It has a very different appearance but you feel at home. The bar has taxidermy animals mounted but if you're okay with that you will love the place. Everyone is super friendly. Moose, the owner, is very welcoming along with his wife Jena who tends bar and waitresses. This place you could even bring your kids in for lunch, it's a family place not just a bar. The bar has been open for over 100 years and has hosted benefits, motorcycle rides, and even a high school senior picnic. I highly recommend this place. Check it out! read more

I've been coming here for long time and the atmosphere has been consistently awesome. The bartenders/waitstaff Steph, Angela and Hunter have always made my family feel welcome. Never once have we had slow service and my kids have been coming with myself and my wife since they were born. As an grown adult, I also know that either my wife or I don't have any alcohol when we bring our children in. Moose, the owner and cook will sometimes pop his head out to say hello, and make some small talk. Which is something you don't get going out to Albany. The food is outstanding, and far above just "bar food" The steak and cheese is the best thing on the menu, and everything else is a close 2nd. The off menu specials are homemade and are always excellent. I've never left feeling hungry. This place has it all. Warm friendly environment from the staff (Moose, Steph, Hunter and Angela), very nice regulars (men and women) and the food and drinks are spot on. I will never be returning here! My husband, myself and son came in for lunch. My husband and I ordered a beer and then our food. My husband was served a second beer before the food arrived. When the food came I ordered myself a second beer but was refused. Was told about the "Leandras law"- yet I'm not driving and was never asked if I was driving. Was told I could have a soda... it's sexual discrimination and by law cannot be refused to order a drink unless I was publicly intoxicated or disturbing the public. I wasn't planning on having more than two beers and usually don't even finish my second. Wasn't like I was ordering shots or mixed drinks. Was just trying to have a relaxing lunch out with my family. Place definitely made a mother feel unwelcome, sexually discriminated and looked down upon. And yet my husband was never "cut off". They had no problem serving the already intoxicated men at the bar who more than likely drove themselves there. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! Looks like they prefer men only in this establishment! Clearly, a locals favorite, we were greeted warmly after a bad service experience at another local spot (I won't name it here). This place is friendly pub grub heaven!! Ordered their MOAB Burger, and went into bacon/flavor overload. The beer is ice cold, the drinks are poured right, and everyone here seems to be in a good mood, from the staff to the patrons. I passed this place a million times, but never considered going in. A friend told me their wings were awesome, and since that first trip, have been back about three times. I know it's not much from the outside, and the clientele is your typical blue collar beer drinkers...but if you're looking for killer wings and great bar food, this is some of the best you'll find. Halfway house is so good!! Right in the heart of ravena. I try not to think about that though when i am there. Halfway has so many good drinks and is always so lit. There's even occasionally that good entertaining bar fight too. Nothing to serious. The food is awesome and the owner and his family have been friends of mine for a while now. Been here a couple times for lunch. Classic small town bar with a good kitchen. Burgers, fries, motz sticks etc are all worth the average price paid. Absolutely fantastic friendly family atmosphere the best food around the freshest seafood Friday and Saturday sometimes there's some left on Sunday because it comes in fresh right off the docks every Thursday night from Boston. They don't allow any nonsense no one ever gives you any problems great place to go watch NASCAR or football have something to eat and drink and have a great Time great food and great drinks great people to have a conversation with always made to feel welcome.
