I took my fiancees $5500 ring to Glennpeter Jewelers in Clifton Park to get resized last January…read more When it was returned, we found a couple of dinks but my fiancee was certain that she had banged it and caused the dinks herself. For our anniversary, I took her to the original jeweler to get the ring cleaned and re-engraved as they had clipped the band when they sized the ring. The original jeweler was mortified when he saw its condition. There were 3 broken diamonds in the band, and under a jeweler's lens you could clearly see that the dinks were tool marks. They begged me to leave the ring with them to get fixed, and offered a letter clearly stating that it was when the ring was re-sized the damage was caused. They even went so far as to say what tool had caused the damage, and how it was improperly used. When I called Glennpeter, the manager was new and could not help us. We instead called the GM, Mike Brown, at the Albany store, and the first words out of his mouth was calling us liars. He then proceeded to get into a screaming match with my pissed off fiancee, and hung up the phone. I would not recommend getting anything from or allowing anyone at any Glennpeter Jewelery outlets to touch your precious metals.

I assume that no matter what I purchase I will end up paying too much. However, like other things in life, I look at value more than price. If I am getting a piece that makes my wife happy and doesn't put me in the poor house, I am fine with that. My wife has wanted a special custom diamond ring wrap for her engagement ring for years. She has hinted about it, she sent me links to it, she started saving for it, etc. She knew what she wanted. Kay had a big sale in November and I wanted to buy it for her for Christmas but I didn't want to open a line of credit because she would see the statements in the mail, which would ruin the surprise. Kays refused to send the statements to another address. So, I had to pay cash instead (which only leaves a small paper trail). Problem is, the sale only applied to in-stock merchandise and the ring I needed had to be ordered from another store. But, they couldn't order it unless I paid 100% upfront for it. However, manager Chelsea was super nice and we figured out an arrangement that worked for both of us. My wife loves the ring and I am happy with the price I paid. Whenever we go in they are friendly, they have a quick turnaround time for custom modifications, and their many branches allow us to have our jewelry serviced at other places without hassle.

I have heard people say the staff walk around and watch customers closely. Honestly, I can understand why. The layout has to be a security challenge, there are multiple rooms, different levels, and even an upstairs. I would imagine shoplifting could be an issue in a store set up like this. For me, the staff have always been friendly and helpful. I actually wonder how they keep track of where everything is in a place that big, that alone is impressive. Their jeans are overpriced, and they typically don't have them in my waist size (30 - rarely do I see any below 32). It's the same for their shorts. On this particular visit, they had a huge sale on t-shirts and polo shirts at a really good price. But they did not have a single shirt in the colors that interested me in size Medium. I suspect they bought a huge selection of overstock from somewhere else in the sizes they couldn't sell. At different times of the year, though, I've had really good luck with sweatshirts, flannel shirts, and sweaters at really good prices. I've also had better luck with many other departments in the store. When I shop here for men's clothes I have to go in with the mindset that I won't necessarily find what I want. But I can always go to the nearby Kohl's afterward.

DO NOT GO HERE, avoid at all costs!…read more Absolutely horrible experience, ruined my wedding ring and so rude and unprofessional. Do not risk bringing your jewelry here, they will ruin it and take no responsibility, it's clear they don't know what they're doing. Brought my wedding ring in for a loose main prong, received it back weeks later with the prong even looser than when I brought it to them, with two stones completely missing which were perfectly fine before, and a huge black resin burn on the main diamond. Not only did they not fix what they were supposed to, they sent my ring back mangled. I have no idea how or why this would happen and how they wouldn't notice this before returning it to me. They also apparently don't take photos or videos of rings before and after repair for documentation, which is wildly unprofessional and is basically jewelry repair 101. Thankfully I took my own photos as evidence, as we're suing the company for the cost to repair the damage they did. They also don't do the repairs in store, which they weren't transparent about, and send it out to god knows where, so be further warned that it's a massively sketchy and unprofessional operation. On top of having no skills as a jeweler, their customer service is atrocious and they treat customers like garbage once they have your money. When I called to discuss my concerns with the state of my ring, the old woman working was immediately defensive, insulting, rude, and accused me of lying and swore at me. Not sure what I would gain by lying about their botched job, I just wanted the situation rectified. She also admitted they don't do repairs in house and don't take pictures or document what is damaged and what they fixed, insanely unprofessional and a scam of a business. They should be ashamed of how they damage pieces that mean the world to people, and then treat and talk to customers horribly.
