Cheap Chinese fries that always look uncooked and were soggy. Cheap chicken tenders that looked unappealing with thick breading that falls off in big chucks. Seriously looks like the Tyson ones you buy in your grocers freezer. Burgers way too undercooked, blood soaked bottom bun. Not usually one to write reviews on places but this experience definitely was absolutely terrible. My fiancé and I came in and it was pretty busy which wasn't a problem, there was a sign to seat ourselves so we did. 30 minutes passes, no menu's, no drinks, we watched 2 tables come in after us and sit, get menu's, and drinks. Finally I went to the bar to get some menu's and the bartender was just completely nasty to me but I figured once again they are really busy. Well another 30 minutes passes, and I finally go up to the bar again and ask who my waitress is supposed to be and clearly explained the situation in the best way I could without being rude because I was upset. Finally then we get a waitress and she gets us our drinks and we ordered an appetizer and our meals. The fried pickles were absolutely AMAZING. but that was it. The food was terrible it took an hour just for the food after waiting already one hour. we spent almost 3 hours in there for terrible service, not great food. So if we are ever in the area again we will not be coming back, sucks it was the only place open within 30 miles. read more

We had reservations at 4:30 service was slow. Our waitress forgot our drinks, then it took forever to get them, she never check to see if we needed anything. We had to flag her down numerous times and also had to got to the bar for the drinks she forgot. Food took a while too but it was pretty good. Then she mentioned it was busy that was why she forgot our drinks. Also, at 6 she asked us to leave as they had another reservation! That's a first for me! You have crappy service and then want us to chug our drinks and leave. If you had a time limit you might have better service! read more

The sticker on the side of the napkin dispenser commanded me to write a Yelp review so here we are. I strutted into The Halfway House on 7/18/19 and immediately felt like I was back at my old watering hole of Mechanicsville, VA. The place is nice and clean and the service was pretty good. There was a really cool group of Motorcycle Club gentleman at an adjacent table. They seemed like a pretty tame group, then again it was 3:00pm on a Thursday. The fella who took us here tells me The Halfway House runs a tight ship. Meaning, this isn't some dive bar with crazy biker gangs causing a fuss. No sir. The Halfway House doesn't put up with that nonsense. At least that's what I was told. Moving on, Troy, MT 59935 has absolutely zero cell phone service. NONE. If you find this place you meant to come here. I had to jump on their WiFi just to get my phone half working again. Troy Montana is beautiful and The Halfway House is a wonderful little haven of good food and good beer. I had the cheeseburger with tater tots, my wife had the fish, Robert had wings, and I don't recall what the boy had. I regret not taking more photos since I feel compelled to boost the Yelp rating of this place. Found this cool little road house along Bull Lake nestled in the trees. They have a nice deck for the outdoor dinning experience. Inside it's like a log cabin kinda vibe with few casino machines in the corner. Ordered the BLT and garlic fries, both of which were very good. The menu is what you would expect to find at a bar/grill. Ordered a cocktail, which was well poured. It was busy but for a sunny Sunday....it's expected. The staff was friendly and prompt. read more

My med. steak came mostly raw in the middle and almost over cooked on the outside. the side dinner salad was mostly head lettuce it's summer time where is all the fresh vegggies. Took our good friends out to dinner at the Halfway House. What a farce. $77.00 later, we were home still hungry. Thursday special? The mashed potatoes were cold as ice. The chicken fried steak wasn't quite as cold, but the potatoes were left on all three plates. I ordered a five inch pizza, which was brought to me as we were leaving this establishment. Guess what? It ended up in the trash, as the crust cracked as I tried to break it in half. I have lived here for 48 years and I have never received service like this before. Bad food, bad service and bad vibes. Maybe a new bartender was there when I went in? Shorter female with medium length light brown hair. She was bothered and rude from the jump. Negative attitude. Not friendly AT ALL. Demanded a card as I was taking drinks outside. I pay in cash. She sighs at this. My tip definitely reflected my feelings. When I went back for another round and to order food she was literally bitching to other patrons about her lousy hours and sparse tips! It was epic. Food was ok, lettuce was a bit wilted but whatever. I handed the cook a tip and told him the bartender was a X$&?! He laughed as I think he knew it too. I have lived in this town for years and have driven past this restaurant numerous times. It was only when my friends started talking about it that I decided to give it a try. The place is clean and Tammy was so friendly. We ordered a pizza (half meat lovers and half Hawaiian) and were pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Heaped with toppings on a crispy crust, this pizza was a mouthwatering wonderland. It was so good, but filling and we ended up taking the rest home. While there, a few locals came in and Tammy greeted them with friendliness and enthusiasm. It was refreshing to be in an atmosphere where you can tell someone truly loves their job. I almost hate to give this place such rave reviews because I would love to keep it a locals secret. Way overpriced $$$ for what you get if you get it hot or if they even have half of what's on the menu! This was a drive by stop and eat on or way from the swinging bridge and the Kootenai Falls, Montana to Thompson Falls on a sightseeing trip for the day! Ordered A grilled cheese sandwich with extras, grilled onions, add tomato and bacon but when we got halfway through the sandwich we noticed no bacon! Along with the sandwich we wanted chili fries but they were out of chili so we ordered onion rings but they were out of them too! So we settled for plain fries instead, witch weren't bad at all. Ordered a Beer the Red and it was flat, not good! My daughter and grandson ordered a BLT and a Chicken sandwich both with fries but the buzzer they were given was dead so it took them twenty minutes to get there food that sat on the counter before the server to figure out why we hadn't come in from our outside seating and brought them their food, which now was COLD! Ambiance was old time bar feel with a small slot machine area to drop some cash and a chance to win if your in to that. The restrooms were clean along with the bar and grill being sanitary at least. I did not have the best experience here. We walked in and placed an order for dinner and I thought all was fine. However, our appetizers were given to the waitresses table where her family and friends were. Then 2 of the 4 meals placed on our table were completely forgotten about along with our appetizers. Seeing people sit after us and get their order within 10 minutes was a bit too frustrating. I understand this is a small town.. but still. Great place for lunch. We were heading to Ross Creek Cedars and stopped in. The bar is really pretty but we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. The stream running right by the tables was very cool. They don't wait on the tables outside so we ordered and waited while enjoying the scenery. We had to wait quite a long time to get our order which is the only negative I can say. The food was delicious and the staff was nice and helpful. On a recent Sunday, a family group of 14 of us descended on the Halfway House for a late lunch, after visiting the Ross Creek cedars. There were a few tables occupied, and a few more small groups came in while we were there. The staff quickly pushed three large tables together for our group. Our server, who was the only one working the front of the house, was friendly, upbeat, and took our orders accurately and intelligently. We were surprised at how quickly our food came. The food was tasty and plentiful -- pizzas, salads, sandwiches. This was exactly what we were looking for. This place has real potential. They need to hire some more people. The waitresses had to wait tables, clean tables, be the bartenders, wash dishes, and everything else that goes with the job. As long as it took to get the food, there must have been only one cook. They need to shorten their menu and focus on giving the customers a better experience. The wait staff isn't happy having to be overworked which gets transferred over to the customers. The coconut shrimp that I ordered was good. The fries were cold. read more

We went on a rainy evening, hoping for a hot bowl of homemade chili. After about 25 minutes, what we got was a bowl full of lukewarm tasteless canned chili, oddly reminiscent of Hormel. I wasn't going to even give this two stars. But Patti saved the night. My family/friends came in tonight and we waiting around for about 15 mins before we got a drink order in. Then about 45 mins finally got menus. Our server Olivia didn't even check in with our table. We all ordered our food but then an hour after sitting no food.. an hour and 30 no food.. finally Patti came out (who wasn't even our server) and checked on the table and asked if we placed our orders yet, at that time most of us were pretty upset that we had to wait So long. Almost 2 hours into sitting about half the food came out and 3 of us were still missing orders. By the time we were about to pay and leave the other 3 orders came out and Patti gave us some Togo boxes. Meanwhile we Watched our server walk back and forth to other tables except ours as well as other tables who got there well after us get there food before us as well. Don't even bother stopping unless you are desperate. This is a tiny hole in the wall convinence store attached to a bar. We got 6 cans of soda and it was over $8 crazy!!! Nothing else to say really it's easy access right off the highway plenty of parking cute building. Inside is not as cute the lady was over in the bar side when we showed up and we had to wait a while for her to come check us out. Haven't had a burger so huge and juicy in a long time, served w/delicious Parmesan Garlic steak fries! I finished the burger so fast, I forgot to take a pic....next time I will post one. The service was great and the new owners are so friendly and fun! You will feel like you've known them for a long time. Nice mixture of locals and families w/kids. Nice and relaxing environment.
