Breakfast was amazing, out quick and hot! Biscuits and gravy were so good, bacon cooked perfectly and they have great prices.

When we can, we like stop to see our favorite waitress Lizzy at the Silver Spur Restaurant. We like to have their New York Steak Sandwich, it comes with sautéed mushrooms, onions and homemade French fries. We have also gone for lunches, breakfasts, dinners and various holidays, when they have a special dinner for a great price! We love it when the chef walks by- we say wow, what a wonderful meal and he smiles and says well thank you- I made it just for you! Stop on by and have a meal and you won't be sorry! read more

Absolutely one of the worst meals I've had. We used to love coming here when we lived in Bonners Ferry. Today we sat for nearly an hour before getting our meal in a restaurant with one other table occupied. The food was horrendous and cold and portions small. While the owners have done a fabulous job remodeling this restaurant, we still keep trying to come back and see if it's any better and it is absolutely not. From the poor service every single time (getting our own silverware, finding a waitress, having no one come back after the food is service) to the quality of food being absolutely trash. It's cold, it's not cooked right, no flavor etc... we tried the Mother's Day brunch and it was not as it was advertised and for $30 a person , we had cold, disgusting food and had to leave, compare it to a hotel breakfast but worse. Ok, the outside looks pretty dated, as does the inside. I had seen a review that they have surprisingly good food so I gave it a try since I was riding through town. Sitting down you can't help but notice the place has had a long hard life. It's not dirty, just kind dated and worn. I wasn't holding my breath for a good meal. To keep the disappointment level low I ordered off the 'specials' menu so I wouldn't waste too much money. I ordered the half sandwich + cup of soup special for $5 with the upgrade to a full sandwich for $2 more. Coffee for my drink. A short while later my food comes out and it looks awesome. Fresh bread and veggies with turkey that seemed like they carved it in back. Everything was fresh and tasted excellent. The soup was veggie beef barley and it was one of the best I've had in all my travels. Suffice it to say I was pleasantly surprised with the meal. I asked about desserts and the make their own pies. Chocolate Carmel was the pie of the day along with frozen choices as well. I went with the chocolate huckleberry frozen pie. OMG it is good. The best part is that you would expect it to be super rich but it wasn't. It was perfectly sweet. Although the waitresses were super nice I never got a water refill and the coffee was was very weak. Stayed in Troy for a week and the Silver Spur became our go-to place. The food was delicious, service fantastic, and good selection of food! The cocktails were quite good as well, which was a pleasant surprise for what seems like a beer bar! Great live music that seems to bring the whole town as well read more

we've had several not great experiences here but today was absolutely the worst. We were one of two occupied tables and we waited a long time to be waited on, when our food came they had gotten both orders wrong. I sent mine back TWICE more and when it came out the last time, it still was not right. it was only a mushroom and cheese omelet, nothing fancy. when I asked for a manager, there wasn't one on site and another employee got really snippy with me then proceeded to tell me that the guy who was alone waiting tables in the main dining room had never waited tables before.... as if all of this wasn't enough, they couldn't get our ticket right when we went to pay (they did take my meal off). Visited the Silver Spur today (Sunday) prior to 12 noon. The breakfast menu was filled with lots of good choices. French Toast and a side of bacon was outstanding - the bacon cooked perfectly! Our waitress was friendly and quick to deliver water, take our drink order, then come back for food order. During our meal she was back a couple times to see what else we might need - even one of the other waitresses asked if everything was OK. Reasonable prices, good food and nice people. Perfect. Oh, and I've noticed some folks say the place is 'dated'. It's a rustic saloon in a little tiny town - loved the décor and country attitude and feel. Will be back for sure! read more

My first visit to the Silver Spur was pretty good. The service was good as was the food. However my second and third visits ensured that I will never set foot in there again. The quality of the food was severely lacking...not to mention the terrible service. However that icing on the cake was the other patrons, the complete ignorance and racism I heard spouted there was appalling. read more

We were driving from Idaho to Glacier National Park and selected the Silver Spur Restaurant for lunch. The outside of the restaurant was dated but it was clean and neat inside. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. Our server was very nice and attentive. The prices were reasonable. I selected the most delicious burger with swiss & mushrooms, accompanied by enchilada soup. I only wish I was in the neighborhood again so that I could eat that burger more than once. read more

came in on a Sunday around noon for fish and chips. slow to be seated, got a ice tea and ordered. After 45 minutes asked another waitress to check on my order, oh it will be about another 10 minutes. I know its on the river but did not think they caught the fish to make the fish and chips. Waitress never came around see if I needed a refill or give me an update on my order. My feeling is they misplaced it. I left was very disappointed poor Montana service and never got the food to taste it. read more

We came here for a late dinner arrived at approx 8pm and they were open till 9pm. I had a beer and the Silver Spur Sampler Platter. My wife had the chicken breast off of their half size menu. Both meals were good but we did not receive our food until about 8:45pm. Our waitress was very apologetic and explained the kitchen had a large take out order to cook. She did provide us with a $5 discount card which was nice. Service was very good except for the long wait. read more

I've never seen a smaller entree salad than the Caesar I ordered today with salmon. It was $8.95 plus $4 for a small piece of hot overcooked fish. It was slightly bigger than a side salad. Other than the fish, the salad tasted good, but very very small for the price! read more

I've eaten here more times than I can count. I'm a big fan of going for breakfast and lunch. My favorite dish there is the grilled chicken sandwich with swiss and mushrooms. Most of the times it's really good, but occasionally, it falls a bit short. We always sit in the bar area and the bartenders are usually fairly lively and friendly. There are plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports. The service can be slow sometimes, but that seems pretty normal anywhere. It feels like a family with regulars that come in.
