Stoped in to stretch our legs after driving for a few hours. We were greeted by a friendly man who asked if he could help us. He told us to look around and if we had any questions he'd be happy to answer them. If you have a dog, this place is a must stop. There were free doggie biscuits and balls. There was also a huge dog run that I noticed a few people using with their dogs. A little tricky to get to off hwy 95 but well worth the stop. There were plenty of pamphlets and maps coupons, books, souvenirs inside the center. The bathrooms were spotless! Super bright and clean. There also was an EV charging station in the parking lot. We took advantage of it and charged up the car while we had a coffee. There is a huge Walmart across the street if you need anything. There are also a few fast food around if you're hungry.

Well, the dog run is now permanently on our list as a place to stop when we're traveling up and down 95. Two separate areas which works nice. Not huge but plenty of space for the dogs to stretch their legs and use the bathroom in a safe environment.

This place is AWESOME!!! Nice place to get info, use the restrooms & a off-leash DOG PARK!!! Next door to a Starbucks!! We will be making this a regular stop as we travel north and south!!! Amenities: 2 Separate fenced areas (one for large dogs and one for small) Poo bags, Water access, Trash cans, Free Dog bones and Paw wipes inside. Adirondack Chairs, benches and picnic tables for us humans and nice shady spots to "chillax" in between playing. The building itself has lots of travel information, the staff we met were very nice, clean restrooms and a nice large parking lot! Wish Florida would catch on with these places at the welcome center!!!! Simply wonderful!!!!!

We were debating whether to stop here or not based on reviews but I am glad we did! Our 2 dogs loved being able to get out and stretch their legs. Don't let the bad reviews deter you from stopping. They had a full water bowl and poop bags/trash can for use as well.

Only open M-F 9-5 (welcome ctr) the dog run is open any time, 2 separate runs. Not worth the stop, basic run, u can walk/run your dogs off leash but it's not worth an additional stop if u can run your dog on a leash at a rest stop. They have a electric car power station, dog bag dispenser, nearby food, gas & walmart across the street. Our dog sniffed but did her business outside the fenced area as there were dogs in one of the runs & the woman was yelling at us to 'don't bring your dog by the fence' we still had our dog on her leash & in an empty run. Prople really should train their dogs to be social if they plan to take them in public. 'Be social, means they won't attack people or other animals'

Found this little gem from signs heading up 95. Decided to stop and let Pepper out for a poop. He was the only pup at the time, but he didn't seem to mind. The area is cute, even though it is really on the front lawn of the Visitors Center. There are 2 fenced in areas, one for small dogs, and one for bigger dogs. Both have Adirondack chairs for pup parents to cop a squat while their fur babies sniff each other. There are a few picnic tables with umbrellas where you could chill out and take a break from a long drive. There is also a dispenser for poop bags, and a big barrel of water for refreshing. My only complaint: the barrel of water is in direct sunlight and at the entry gate. The barrel was overrunning, which created a muddy path to walk through. Would be nice if it were under the trees to keep somewhat cool and away from the entrance.

A good stretch means a good sleep :)

Just what the pups needed after all the small stops along 95. This dog run was clean, fresh water available, small and large dog lots with plenty of gas stations and food options around for us humans. The visitor center is clean and very welcoming. This stop will be saved for future road trips definitely!

Pet entrance area with park benches!

Small place but not bad to let your dog out on a trip. In a good area close to 95 and stores.

Some of the big dog owners also just turned their dogs loose and the little dog part and then don't clean up so you walk in and there's just dog crap everywhere, literally everywhere. I've heard there's one gentleman who turns his lab loose every morning in the park and then sits in his car before he goes to work. Let's his dog crap all over the place and if somebody says something to him about him, he says, I pay my taxes and he gets confrontational. There are some super nice people and super nice dogs that come here but the negative people certainly make this a far less attractive park to bring your dog to. Nobody likes dodging dog shit mines all over the place.

There is grass all around the outside and the center is full of very very small gravel!! All except for the grass hill that has the tunnel through it! The park is ginormous, even the dog park would make a decent large dog park in most cities. There are plenty of places to sit and they even put some of the benches under trees? That way the tree shades the bench, I've never understood why some dog parks have shade trees and then they have the benches placed way out in the sun? This also has a tinting structure on both Corners so that there are multiple picnic benches under them to sit in the shade. There are a plethora of poop bag dispensers as well as trash cans which may explain the very few biological landmines I actually ran across. The watering station is very nice. I hope all cities learn from this one!

Every day we would eat drink and swim all day and had a blast. There was no place to buy wood at this park. So make sure that you have some wood for fires. We bought some from a 7-11 prior to coming. But we also found a tree that fell over that someone at the park cut up and let us take to burn. The bathrooms were not the best. Only one of the toilets door would close In-N-Out bathroom. But if you walked a little there was another bathroom. The showers didn't allow for much privacy. But we were swimming every day and got a quick shower in when no one else was there. Some of the sites have these cement areas near the water that are not comfortable to lay in. But I saw a few younger purple on them. I didn't even like sitting in them. Also near the water they get slippery. Make sure you are bringing some type of water shoes. There were a lot of people that had campers and boats near us. Lots of kids and many dogs. With several access points, hiking, camping, swimming, fishing and boat slips there's no end to summer time enjoyment out here. And lemme tell you, this lake is huge. I wasn't quite aware of Kerr Lake until this stop through. As it seems most of the lake is in Virginia, it's not really heard of as much in NC, I feel like. But it's significant to the history of the area and of course for the energy infrastructure of this part of the country. I took a scenic drive along the expanse of the lake and drove into VA where I crossed the dam "just to say I did". The sheer size of the lake makes for incredible views. While it isn't a park that I see myself going back to anytime soon, I know it would be enjoyable in particular for families going on summer trips to camp and enjoy the water.

Given the relative dearth of dog parks in the area, this is such a welcomed feature for this side of town, saving many folks the drive to the Greenville Off Leash Dog Area. What I have heard others say about Ayden's Dog Park - and what I have witnessed myself - is the quality of the turf. The ground is hard and the grass is thick and covered, making it a nice and relatively clean place for dogs to run around and play, even after there's been some rain. My dog and I really enjoyed it here when we came to visit from Greenville, though the only downside (or not? depending...) is that I have never seen another dog there (yet). I do not think it has grown in popularity such that you can expect another playmate at all times. Sometimes, that is good, though, leaving more room for you to play with your fur baby!

There are two dog runs, both seem about the same size. Had a great time today playing with my very active dog! It makes for a nice change from the yard and he got to do a ton of sniffing. They have bags available for picking up dog doo and trash cans to dispose of it, and when it isn't winter it looks like they have water available (as well as restrooms in a short walking distance, also closed in winter). Note that it might not be perfect for those who want to throw frizbees or shoot balls out as far as they can; the runs aren't very big. A large dog can still run, just not for very long unless it wants to do a bunch of cornering. If you have an adopted greyhound, it would be too small for a safe full-speed run (though still way better than nothing).

He's small he gets nervous. He can get injured from being stepped on by a larger dog. There were 3 members of a family watching a smaller dog play and had a pitbull mix on a collar leash, not even a harness, in the small dog fence. I didn't know the dog, friendly? Not? Family wasn't friendly when I expressed my concern saying the dog was leashed. But a larger dog on simply a collar is still questionably controlled. They called me a racist, said I had no right to say the large dog shouldn't be in there. They said in a snarky way to 'do what ya gotta do' multiple times. I drove 20 minutes to let my dog run and couldn't take him off leash. I called the city of Greenville that said nobody could be there for an hour but just to keep my dog on a leash. This is supposed to be an off leash dog park! The trip was a waste of time and I left. I got the name of the person, As I left I was told that my skin doesn't handle the sun well and to get something on my reptile skin. How is this ok? I'll never financially support the park or the city of Greenville but I'm not rich so I guess it doesn't matter. The family was rude & inconsiderate. They claimed I felt entitled in a public park in the SMALL dog fence. The city of Greenville told me to call if something happened. No, my dog is precious and I'd never chance it. I was bit by a dog in the past trying to get to my dog. I have mobility issues & use a handicap placard so I cannot walk him distances. I'm very disappointed in my home town. Why would I return to the park? Below is a photo if the dog that they let loose running after I left in the small dog fence. Even if a friendly dog simply not appropriate. My dog got a pup cup afterwards to make up for not getting to run. Since then I've had other people tell me that they won't return either. Some even have large dogs but had other bad experiences. A few bad apples can ruin it for some of us.
