Finished it off with the macadamia nut ice cream and an espresso martini made with Ocean Vodka -- such a perfect combination! Such a wonderful experience, from the welcoming at the gift shop, the tour and education on how their spirits are made to the amazing lunch. This was a 20/10 experience! Alan, our tour guide and tasting bar tender, was so knowledgeable and had a fun personality. I was surprised at how much I liked some of the shots, not being a shot kinda gal. The vodka was my favorite, it has a unique mouth-feel and has now become my favorite brand of vodka. Now on to the dining experience... I ordered an ahi tuna sandwich and my husband ordered the buffalo flat bread with a side of fries. The sesame crusted ahi was so flavorful and melted in your mouth. The buffalo flatbread was the perfect balance of sauce, cheese and chicken. The view from outside is spectacular as well. Sitting outside with incredible views of Maui is the perfect way to relax and take it all in. The atmosphere is unbeatable. Great service from the beginning to end. Starting with making the reservations. I had to update and add people. Everytime I called someone was super helpful. It started raining when we got there but, we still had a great time. Alan told us all about the history, his favorite way to drink the drinks, and so much more in the 1 hour! Then we went to the cafe where Alisa helped us and was great. She put up with us. We aren't the most quiet group. The views would've been amazing if it was a clear day. We have loved visiting this business over the years but have not been in quite some time. Every time they have expanded, improved, and developed both their venue and product lines. Now they have a full fledged venue, larger parking lot, bigger staff, and newer entries to their distilled products beyond the quite special Ocean Vodka. I've recently discovered their Kula dark rum and it's fantastic. They have a store to buy these and of course merch, the newest entry is a tequila now. Such beautiful grounds and a huge land with one of the most inventive stages built out of a shipping container by a skilled welder and engineer. We were killing time on a Sunday evening before a late flight home and tripled on a great Hawaiian music act starting at the stage. Many families and groups amongst all the picnic tables, kids running around (good and bad with that of course....) and fantastic staff and servers. We started inside in the cafe with a great vodka martini and a mixed drink for her then moved out to the lawn where we ordered a fantastic mushroom flatbread. Go visit with family and friends whether you have a little time or a lot regardless of alcohol consumption and there will be something for everyone to enjoy. read more

The manager Raul and his team were excellent in service from beginning to end. I really do like when the serving staff work as a team, and our table was checked at least 3 times during out meal. When I had moved outside to enjoy the view, I was checked in with, again. Raul explained the menu items and promoted the upcoming musical events at the Cafe/The Point. Nice. Food was above average and the pulled pork sandwich was excellent. The chile lime chicken tacos were too limey and tart for my preference. The tortilla chips looked to be homemade and their guacomole was delish. Burger was good, and I had mine with grilled pineapple and jalapeno. Our party shared Poke Nachos, which was a tasty cultural fusion which took the edge of our famished selves. The pesto flatbread was as expected. The bread itself was tender and chewy. The food was delicious and so was the setting. Everything was beautiful, including the way the food was presented. The server in the cafe was very nice as well as those outside when we had dinner. Parking and bathrooms- check and check. The only con for me is the service was very slow. It would take 10-15+ minutes to place an order. The food took a long time to come out too. I think they just may have needed more servers. We would give it another try. The tasting experience may be better because it would have everything prepared. This was always one of my wife's and my favorite spots. Every time we came to Maui, we would stop in for lunch and pick up a few bottles to take home. Sadly, this will be our last visit. This time, we brought friends with us based on our recommendation. The lunch itself was excellent, but as we were leaving, we overheard one of the employees who I believe may have been the manager talking about us behind our backs. It was extremely disappointing, especially after supporting this place and its products every time we visited Maui. Plenty of parking Arrived just after lunch , no reservation. Only one couple were there before us. Pretty big area. Weren't interested in the tour, just wanted to grab a drink and enjoy the view. I got the Kula tai (the BRUM sounded good, but quite pricey $25. The bottle was $120 iirc !). which was tasty, but the "worst" of Mai tai on the trip. It's not a knock on OOF , I still enjoyed it. my wife got the local girl - POG with vodka. No shade by the tables, and it was very hot. so we got a chair and moved under the shade. Beautiful! The place was packed by the time we left. I could see the place getting loaded around sunset . And I'm sure the view of sunset would have been amazing. Don't let the "Vodka" part discourage you. This is a family friendly space. Amazing sunsets, tasty finger foods/ pizza and yes, great cocktails. There is a whole section just for kids, where they can run around and play games. They serve mocktails and soft drinks in addition to beer, wine and spirits. There is a giant lawn to spread out on. Picnic tables are ample, chairs are provided but you can also bring a blanket or towel and spread out. Servers are abundant and will come to you. There is often live music and I believe entry is free unless there is a special event going on. My favorite drink is the Green Harvest. Like most things on Maui, it is a little pricey. Totally worth it IMO. I did a tour of the distillery way back when they first opened. Idk if that's still a thing but it was interesting and made me appreciate the drinks a little more. Aside from Vodka, they also make and serve their own rum. Worth the drive away from the congested areas of Maui. read more

This was our third visit to Ocean vodka and wow has it gone downhill since our prior visits. We had visited in 2017 and 2019 previously and both of those experiences were much better than their current offerings. We booked a tour for 3 people which was quite disappointing and barely a "tour". The guide and staff working were all friendly but there is zero tour of the facilities or production anymore. It was legitimately just a 5 minute brand intro and then a tasting ... They also tried to upsell the "full" tasting since the regular tour only includes 4-5 super small pours. It is $35 for the base tour but the tequila and rum add-ons were $20 and $10 additionally ... so it is truly $65 in total if you do the full experience. It is also awkward if you do not want to do the full experience and other members of your tour do it ... For their price points, you can order much nicer drinks at a bar. This felt like a tourist trap and was way overpriced for how lame the tasting is. Won't go back, will stick with Maui Wines. read more

Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery sits on a hilltop in the Maui uplands -- 80 acres on the slopes of Haleakalā -- and it is exposed and gorgeous. More covered areas would go a long way. But you're here for the spirits, the food, and the atmosphere, not the comfort. From atop this upcountry hill, you can see Ma'alaea Bay to the east and the open Pacific to the north. So there's that. Do yourself a favor and stop in Makawao on the way up. Charming, quaint, eclectic shops along Baldwin Avenue, including a local shop dog named Tika. We filled up at the Ocean Vodka hilltop café before our tasting, and the café might be the real surprise. The poke nachos ($28.95) -- fresh-fried chips, premium tuna, extraordinary flavor -- could be the best on the island. Also delightful was the mac nut pesto farmbread ($21.95) -- fresh macadamia nut pesto with tomatoes, artichoke hearts, mozzarella and parmesan. Flavorful. More than enough for one person, perfect for sharing between two. Live music starts daily at 4:30pm. After lunch came the spirits tasting. All of their spirits are made from various types of sugar cane grown on the farm. Fun fact: "vodka" is a process, not a named ingredient -- vodka can be made from grapes (Cîroc), wheat (Grey Goose), potatoes (traditional), corn (hello, Tito's). Here, it's organic sugar cane, and the vodka is cut with deep-ocean mineral water drawn from 3,000 feet below the surface off the Kona Coast of the Big Island. You can taste the difference -- good mouth-feel from the minerality, clean from the filtering process. Guided tastings run every 30 minutes from 11am to 5pm -- five spirits for $18, with a $10 add-on for Brum, their limited release aged rum. At $18 ... that's a no-brainer. Fill up on gourmet food and expansive views first. I did not know what to expect. I am basing my review on my experiences with visiting Bourbon distilleries. Was the tour worth $96 for 2, to include a (B)RUM tasting. Yeah, I do, the young man who handled the tasting dod an amazing job. Lunch afterwards was really good! A few things to consider. There is no inside tour of the bottling area, or distillation area. This would have made the experience a lot better and added value to the whole tour. I'm still glad we did the tour. But was wanting a little more. read more

So.. I had really high hopes for this place but I feel that the "sunset" experience was really over sold. My reservation was at 630, right before sunset. Luckily I got there early (you'll see why I was lucky) and they sat us right away. So, let me just clarify - all the staff was really friendly. My issue was a logistical problem, or rather, a series of logistical problems. When they sat us, we have a front row seat to the view. I'm guessing reservations give you the best seats. We also noticed a sign that blatantly said "this is not a playground," which I particularly appreciated because we don't have kids and I was expecting a relatively romantic (or at least adult) sunset ambience at this distillery. It was right before sunset, the band was playing (light folk), the cabana bar was open - all in all, a great ambience when we first sat down. We were able to order our first round of drinks from the cabana bar and order our food with the waitress. The first weird thing, was about 30 min after we got there (remember, we got there early for our 630 reservation - maybe around 610-615), the cabana bar closed down. I thought that was weird because we had just got there and the place was about half to over half full. Then, the band started saying they'll be done soon. That happened before we even got our dinner. Then, to top it all off, the kids at neighboring tables started running around and screaming. This really shocked me given the blatant "this is not a playground" sign in the front. So long story short, the whole place shut down WHILE we were eating our dinner. The band packed up, the outside bar was closed, and the whole place emptied. This really disappointed me, because the online "sunset" experience was really emphasized. So really it's a "you can come watch the sunset, but pre order your stuff then leave" experience. And if you're not going to reinforce that "no playground" sign, don't even bother putting it up. Maybe this place is better during the day - and maybe I was just expecting something that wasn't in this place's wheelhouse. But they should really let people know what to expect as part of that "sunset" experience if they're going to be rushed out. read more

After a drive to Maui wine it was only a short distance to Ocean organic vodka. Huge gravel parking lot well on its way to being full. I had the $23 da beast burger with American cheese bacon lettuce tomatoes and pickles served with a local version of thousand Island dressing. not a fan of American cheese but the hamburger hit the spot after a long day of Driving the up country of Maui. Took One bite and tossed out the potato chips. wife had the $25 mushroom pizza which she said was fantastic . No we did not try any of the vodka as I don't drink and someone needed to drive us home back to Kihei 30 miles away . Beautiful premises palm trees picnic tables large expanses of grass. stage of Hawaiian music . we listened to one song and decided to call it a day as we did not want to get it stuck in such a remote area with darkness approaching Food was expensive but was for a good cause raising funds for the Kihei canoe club. Kula, HI. This is a pretty wonderful and unique locale to get good food, some of it traditional Hawaiian, as well as artisan cocktails and spirits. The seating consists of well spread out picnic tables, and we did not have to share one. The parking is ample, go right or left when entering. Check out the store even if you are just looking. All three ages of Tequila (Agave, the word Tequila is not used here) are for sale here in fish bowl bottles. Very nice. The agaves you see driving in will be harvested and distilled in the near future. Presently, the agave used for brewing are from Mexico. The sunset viewing is a big deal here. People are jousting for position on the edge of the lawn in chairs provided. Many lay claim to said chairs as quickly as possible. Admittedly, the view of the setting sun is excellent here, I did enjoy it, but was fine with the view from my table. Still no green "POP". I've been waiting to see that for 79 years. We first ordered two appetizers, spring rolls and a pear salad that never came. Our two dinners were outstanding, the NY strip was seared to a crust on both sides and left the inside a perfect medium rare. We were not asked how we wanted our steak cooked. Apparently medium rare is what you get, like it or not. The sticky ribs were unlike any rib variation I've tried. They had a sesame crust and none of the typical sauce or dry rub. They were delicious fall off the bone meaty delectable delights. Their service needs some tuning. We waited about 30 minutes for the server to acknowledge us. Finally a cocktail waitress showed up and took our order. After that the server came to our table twice wanting to know if we were ready. As we were getting ready to leave our waitress brought out our appetizers and comped them. Even though we were not charged for them, she brought out two boxes so we could take them with us. We ate the appetizers the next day at the airport. Every thing held up well over night in the refrigerator. The spring rolls were excellent with the dipping sauce. The pear salad was pretty good, even with the pears having wilted and the cashews softening up some. The blue cheese provides a nice flavor as well as the artichoke hearts. The live music was ok for the first hour and I was glad they took a short break. When they returned for more of the same I was finding them moderately annoying. The ride back up the hill in the dark was ok, taking it slow, but it's difficult finding places to turn out to let the aggressive drivers pass. Just stay in your comfort level and be safe. read more

One of my new fav places to go to for that farm to table experience. My summary - The views were breathtaking, the food was excellent, the service was amazing, and the music was a whole vibe. You leave talking about how much fun it was and thats when you know you've found a place to your heart! We went to a pop up preview to the Maui Music Experience hosted by Ocean Vodka and Hua Momona Farms. They had their usual menu which really does have something for everyone along with a specialty dish, the hamachi along with a cocktail. Both delicious. My mother in law who doesn't normally eat fish even ate the sauce and good bits of the hamachi dish. She was convinced. ;) Some photos of the foods we ate. I cant say enough. We all enjoyed our choices and will definitely be coming back for more. Tip: Check their IG for music line up. They have aome great musicians that play daily and in Sundays with a small cover they have multiple lineups. Well worth it!
