Alan was a great guide and very accommodating! Very knowledgeable and eager to share the message of earth first! Vibes were right!! The grounds are stunning and the beverages are stellar!

We have loved visiting this business over the years but have not been in quite some time. Every time they have expanded, improved, and developed both their venue and product lines. Now they have a full fledged venue, larger parking lot, bigger staff, and newer entries to their distilled products beyond the quite special Ocean Vodka. I've recently discovered their Kula dark rum and it's fantastic. They have a store to buy these and of course merch, the newest entry is a tequila now. Such beautiful grounds and a huge land with one of the most inventive stages built out of a shipping container by a skilled welder and engineer. We were killing time on a Sunday evening before a late flight home and tripled on a great Hawaiian music act starting at the stage. Many families and groups amongst all the picnic tables, kids running around (good and bad with that of course....) and fantastic staff and servers. We started inside in the cafe with a great vodka martini and a mixed drink for her then moved out to the lawn where we ordered a fantastic mushroom flatbread. Go visit with family and friends whether you have a little time or a lot regardless of alcohol consumption and there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

If you read farmbreads, what would you assume for it to be? My husband and our friends clearly don't read as many books (menus) as I do.

Great service from the beginning to end. Starting with making the reservations. I had to update and add people. Everytime I called someone was super helpful. It started raining when we got there but, we still had a great time. Alan told us all about the history, his favorite way to drink the drinks, and so much more in the 1 hour! Then we went to the cafe where Alisa helped us and was great. She put up with us. We aren't the most quiet group. The views would've been amazing if it was a clear day. Still got lots of photos and memories.

Great views, good service and decent food hit the spot here. Plus take a tour of the amazing farm while you are at it. If you're looking for something off the beaten path, away from the beach crowd, but still some amazing views...this could your place! Next time I might skip the pizza and just get a sharable, but the bar features some amazing options to sample the really good spirits!

Ocean Organic Farm & Distillery is an award-winning, 80-acre organic farm and distillery in Kula, Maui, founded in 2005 by the Smith family. Located on the slopes of Haleakalā, it produces USDA-certified organic vodka and spirits using sugar cane and deep ocean mineral water, featuring a visitor center, café, and daily tours. I visited and did a tour and tasting which was a lot of fun! Pro tip - pay the extra for the limited taproom only pours. While there I enjoyed: KULA Dark Rum Kula Coconut Rum Organic Rum Gin Barrel Aged Rum (BRUM) Blanco Tequila Tequila Anejo Tequila Reposada ___

Our tour guide Jack was great. He was friendly and gave us the history of the company and how "spirits" are created. The food was Ono. Fresh and tasty, the lemongrass lemonade was so refreshing as well as the cocktails We loved eating outside overlooking the ocean. The live music during dinner was the icing on the cake.

The food was delicious and so was the setting. Everything was beautiful, including the way the food was presented. The server in the cafe was very nice as well as those outside when we had dinner. Parking and bathrooms- check and check. The only con for me is the service was very slow. It would take 10-15+ minutes to place an order. The food took a long time to come out too. I think they just may have needed more servers. We would give it another try. The tasting experience may be better because it would have everything prepared. It's a beautiful space and the food/drinks were delicious when they arrived.

Plenty of parking Arrived just after lunch , no reservation. Only one couple were there before us. Pretty big area. Weren't interested in the tour, just wanted to grab a drink and enjoy the view. I got the Kula tai (the BRUM sounded good, but quite pricey $25. The bottle was $120 iirc !). which was tasty, but the "worst" of Mai tai on the trip. It's not a knock on OOF , I still enjoyed it. my wife got the local girl - POG with vodka. No shade by the tables, and it was very hot. so we got a chair and moved under the shade. Beautiful! The place was packed by the time we left. I could see the place getting loaded around sunset . And I'm sure the view of sunset would have been amazing. Good service, both of the two servers would check on us occasionally. Just finished our drinks and off we go.

    Family day at Ocean Vodka!

John was a fantastic host! We learned all about the distillation process and enjoyed the full line of products! The BRUM was my favorite! Definitely, a great stop on the Maui Hawaii tour.

Don't let the "Vodka" part discourage you. This is a family friendly space. Amazing sunsets, tasty finger foods/ pizza and yes, great cocktails. There is a whole section just for kids, where they can run around and play games. They serve mocktails and soft drinks in addition to beer, wine and spirits. There is a giant lawn to spread out on. Picnic tables are ample, chairs are provided but you can also bring a blanket or towel and spread out. Servers are abundant and will come to you. There is often live music and I believe entry is free unless there is a special event going on. My favorite drink is the Green Harvest. Like most things on Maui, it is a little pricey. Totally worth it IMO. I did a tour of the distillery way back when they first opened. Idk if that's still a thing but it was interesting and made me appreciate the drinks a little more. Aside from Vodka, they also make and serve their own rum. Worth the drive away from the congested areas of Maui.

Go, but bring sunscreen. Maybe even a parasol. There's not much shade. Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery sits on a hilltop in the Maui uplands -- 80 acres on the slopes of Haleakalā -- and it is exposed and gorgeous. More covered areas would go a long way. But you're here for the spirits, the food, and the atmosphere, not the comfort. From atop this upcountry hill, you can see Ma'alaea Bay to the east and the open Pacific to the north. So there's that. Do yourself a favor and stop in Makawao on the way up. Charming, quaint, eclectic shops along Baldwin Avenue, including a local shop dog named Tika. We filled up at the Ocean Vodka hilltop café before our tasting, and the café might be the real surprise. The poke nachos ($28.95) -- fresh-fried chips, premium tuna, extraordinary flavor -- could be the best on the island. Also delightful was the mac nut pesto farmbread ($21.95) -- fresh macadamia nut pesto with tomatoes, artichoke hearts, mozzarella and parmesan. Flavorful. More than enough for one person, perfect for sharing between two. Live music starts daily at 4:30pm. After lunch came the spirits tasting. All of their spirits are made from various types of sugar cane grown on the farm. Fun fact: "vodka" is a process, not a named ingredient -- vodka can be made from grapes (Cîroc), wheat (Grey Goose), potatoes (traditional), corn (hello, Tito's). Here, it's organic sugar cane, and the vodka is cut with deep-ocean mineral water drawn from 3,000 feet below the surface off the Kona Coast of the Big Island. You can taste the difference -- good mouth-feel from the minerality, clean from the filtering process. Guided tastings run every 30 minutes from 11am to 5pm -- five spirits for $18, with a $10 add-on for Brum, their limited release aged rum. At $18 ... that's a no-brainer. Fill up on gourmet food and expansive views first. Then have your tasting -- vodka, rum, gin, and Brum, a traditional spirit of Polynesia that predates Caribbean rum -- and you'll leave happy.

I did not know what to expect. I am basing my review on my experiences with visiting Bourbon distilleries. Was the tour worth $96 for 2, to include a (B)RUM tasting. Yeah, I do, the young man who handled the tasting dod an amazing job. Lunch afterwards was really good! A few things to consider. There is no inside tour of the bottling area, or distillation area. This would have made the experience a lot better and added value to the whole tour. I'm still glad we did the tour. But was wanting a little more.

So.. I had really high hopes for this place but I feel that the "sunset" experience was really over sold. My reservation was at 630, right before sunset. Luckily I got there early (you'll see why I was lucky) and they sat us right away. So, let me just clarify - all the staff was really friendly. My issue was a logistical problem, or rather, a series of logistical problems. When they sat us, we have a front row seat to the view. I'm guessing reservations give you the best seats. We also noticed a sign that blatantly said "this is not a playground," which I particularly appreciated because we don't have kids and I was expecting a relatively romantic (or at least adult) sunset ambience at this distillery. It was right before sunset, the band was playing (light folk), the cabana bar was open - all in all, a great ambience when we first sat down. We were able to order our first round of drinks from the cabana bar and order our food with the waitress. The first weird thing, was about 30 min after we got there (remember, we got there early for our 630 reservation - maybe around 610-615), the cabana bar closed down. I thought that was weird because we had just got there and the place was about half to over half full. Then, the band started saying they'll be done soon. That happened before we even got our dinner. Then, to top it all off, the kids at neighboring tables started running around and screaming. This really shocked me given the blatant "this is not a playground" sign in the front. So long story short, the whole place shut down WHILE we were eating our dinner. The band packed up, the outside bar was closed, and the whole place emptied. This really disappointed me, because the online "sunset" experience was really emphasized. So really it's a "you can come watch the sunset, but pre order your stuff then leave" experience. And if you're not going to reinforce that "no playground" sign, don't even bother putting it up. Maybe this place is better during the day - and maybe I was just expecting something that wasn't in this place's wheelhouse. But they should really let people know what to expect as part of that "sunset" experience if they're going to be rushed out.

We had visited once before back in 2012 and remembered it being a great experience, and it's nice to see how much the farm has upgraded since then. They offer goat and cheese tours that you can sign up for online. This time, we just wandered around the grounds and relaxed while watching the goats and baby kids play in their pen. We also bought a $10 bucket of hay to feed the goats off to the side. We were told they were under a year old, though they were already pretty much adult-sized! They were extremely enthusiastic about the hay, and the bucket was gone in no time. It was such a fun and wholesome experience, for both me and the goats. We didn't reserve a tour ahead of time, and the next one was not for over an hour, so we decided to just walk around the grounds on our own. We started with the cheese tasting. They offer 2 different options, and we chose the mixed. Between 2 of us, it was plenty. I would say even 3 people could share. We enjoyed most of the cheeses - a few were definitely unique. They have a patio area to sit at, and they just call your name when your tasting is ready. They give you information with the cheeses, so you know what you are trying. The shop had a nice assortment of other gifts, as well as the truffles. The truffles were definitely my favorite. You can just get one if you want, or you can pick out several to make a box to take home. We walked around and saw the area where the babies/young goats played on the surfboards, which is super cute. The adults are all over in different areas, and you will even see them on the roofs of different buildings. The tour would have been nice to learn some history and information, but it is still really nice to go without the tour. It was a fun and peaceful little experience.

Our tour guide Chris was excellent, informative, and fun to hang out with for the entire day. Chris had great recommendations for us and the food stops were amazing and delicious and tailored to what we were feeling or not feeling. We had a general idea of the stops we wanted to hit based on our research, but Chris went above and beyond to show us unique stops and views and scenic views. We made great memories and got to experience the road to Hana in a way that far exceeded our expectations. All though it was not the most affordable way to experience the road to Hana, we still felt it was worth the cost. It will be a great memory for us for years to come. I can now say I swam in a waterfall....a very cold one, but definitely worth it. Chris knows these roads and all the stops you might want to see, and he customized it to our level of adventure, including hikes and swims along the way. You can definitely find cheaper alternatives, but I would suggest speaking with Awapuhi Adventures to see if they can meet your needs. The pros of going private is that you are in the drivers seat (figuratively) for where and when to stop, and can skip anything that seems generic or not to your liking. The con is that it will cost some $$$. In our experience, it was worth it! Thanks again, Chris!

I've done the Road to Hana tour before, and had a great experience but it was on a bigger tour trip. We had an amazing tour guide that time, but I came this time with my FIANCÉ and his mom who have never been to Hawaii and I was afraid if we got a boring tour guide, it would be a LONG day. I started looking on Yelp in hopes it would help me narrow down the best of the best and that it absolutely did. I saw the raves about Willie and knew it was going to be worth every penny. Willie called me to talk about what we wanted to get out of our trip, and he also checked back in the day before to reiterate details about where to meet, etc. We told him we really wanted to see beautiful waterfalls and some cool secret, less touristy spots. We began our drive and Willie pulled off on this little beach, and said he wanted to show us something. We walked down, and there were sea turtles all over the beach which just made my MIL's day right off the bat. Then we went to the most delicious breakfast spot I have ever been to, hands down. All along the way, he told us about the areas we were driving through, the weather there, and gave us cool little tidbits of information. We went to the Garden of Eden where to my surprise, I got ENGAGED! Willie was so sweet and so happy for us, hugs all around. He truly made that moment, and the whole day really feel like we were with a friend we'd known forever. We went to the most amazing, secret waterfall and got to swim in the swimming hole and jump off rocks with no one else around! This was the absolute most beautiful spot I've ever been in my life and we never would've found it on our own or without Willie.
