Over the years I have eaten a lot of Texas Barbecue and this place it way up near the top of the list. The brisket was perfect with a great salt and pepper bark, juice meat with some great marbling. The Habanero sausage was pretty mild but had just a little kick while allowing the fruity notes of the habanero come through. The sides were also excellent as was the complementary corn bread. This is the barbecue that does not need the sauce it's that good! Service was really good. Considering what they are doing here with regards to helping homeless people get back on their feet it was excellent service. The staff are all polite and friendly and all seem to be happy to be there. The decor is pleasant with lots of pictures and decorations like the wooden Stars and Stripes flag, longhorn horns and a mounted pheasant. If you are in El Paso and looking for great BBQ. What an amazing experience. This place is truly awesome. I would whole heartedly recommend this place and I will absolutely return. The mission of this restaurant is fabulous. Service was wonderful and friendly. Super efficient and incredibly fast. It was almost no time at all between when we ordered and the mouthwatering food was before us. Everything was incredibly flavorful and juicy. No one could find a single fault with anything ordered. The entire table also went totally silent as we practically inhaled our food. Hallelujah BBQ is the kind of place that reminds you why Texas barbecue has the reputation it does. The brisket was the clear standout. Thick slices with a beautiful smoke ring, deep flavor, and that perfect balance of tenderness and structure. It was juicy without being greasy, and the bark had just the right bite. The brisket sandwich was equally satisfying. Simple, honest, and generous, with crisp onions and a soft bun that let the meat shine. The ribs had great flavor, but were a bit on the dry side during this visit. Still enjoyable, but the brisket definitely stole the show. Sides were a mix. The green beans were outstanding. Easily some of the best I've had at a barbecue spot. Full of flavor and clearly cooked with care. The beans and cornbread were solid and comforting. The coleslaw, though, didn't quite stand out and was the only item I'd probably skip next time. The space itself adds to the experience. Open, casual, and unpretentious. It feels like a place focused on doing barbecue right rather than trying to be trendy. FYI: You order first & they bring out the food to you. The BBQ Brisket and "fall-off-the-bone" pork ribs are to die for. We wanted to try the pineapple coleslaw, the BBQ beans, and the Brussel sprouts, but they had run out! I guess that tells you what's popular at this little gem of a place! And, they have a great mission, no pun intended. They work with and support the El Paso Rescue Mission through providing jobs, food, hygiene supplies, etc, for those who are less fortunate and have fallen on hard times. I recently placed a catering order for over $400 for my son's graduation party. On the day of the event, our family dealt with a sudden emergency that landed my son in the ER. I called to cancel the order and offered to pay for the materials and labor, but the team here gracefully refused. They insisted I didn't owe a dime and focused instead on my son's wellbeing. In an industry where a $400 loss is significant, their compassion was truly overwhelming. It's rare to find a business that puts people above profits so selflessly. We had lunch here yesterday and it was my first time. I'm not a big red meat eater but am always eager to try new spots. My first impression was good, I was impressed even. First, their location is perfect an area of our city that needs attention and investment so I am happy to support. Second, the layout was big, both indoor and out. As soon as I walked in I got a feeling I was in central Texas - a real Texas BBQ vibe. Lastly though, it's their origin story and mission that was my favorite. I'm a big supporter and am sad I didn't know about it before. The service was great, the food was good, and the pricing was ok. The only reasons I held back a "star" was because the portion size was a bit small for me, for the price. Then again, I realize I don't usually buy brisket. I go the one meat one side combo: sausage and chile Mac and cheese. Hubby got the two meat two side combo: ribs and brisket and pineapple coleslaw and potatoes au gratin. We also ordered onion, pickles and jalapeños on the side. The food came out quickly and the portions were great. We were very full by the time we finished. We shared the food between us and everything tasted awesome. I loved the Mac and cheese and the ribs. Those two items were the best. They serve water in giant mason jars, lol! Love this place and its mission. They only hire people who are recovering from addiction or some other issue that's made their life less than typical. And they do such good work, from the pitmasters to the waitpersons, everyone is professional. And friendly. You get out of your car and smell smoke, a sign it's real bbq. Inside up the steps or the long ramp, it's a rich wood on the walls and the tables and benches that greet you. And gentle Christian music playing low. Once o was shown my table I got an iced tea in why I'm calling a 3/4 quart sized mason jar. And they know Texas sweet here! And the best part??? It's only $1!! I had the two meat combo with 3 veggies today, baby back ribs, brisket, and green chile Mac & Cheese, Green Chile Au gratin Potato's and potato salad. And if cam with big hunk of homemade sweet cornbread. The meat was amazing, slightly sweet ribs that pulled away from the bone easily and tender smokey brisket. Good meat done right needs no sauce, but their sauce was good with the brisket and the hot is HOT. Or it was for me! Thank goodness for that free refill of sweet tea! The sides, I didn't like the Mac as much as I hoped I would. It was good, not great... I felt it needed to be cheesier, creamier, and needs a lot more green chile. I could seem some tiny green bits but it really had no flavor of chile. The Green Chile Au Gratin potatoes was a different story... lots of cheese, good amount of green chile. Could not stop eating it. So so good. Potato salad was really good. I personally could have used a little more yellow mustard but that's just me. The cornbread had cheese in it I think and maybe corn kernels too?? With some butter and if It had been warm, would have been perfect. Prices were comparable to most places, if not a little bit better on some items. Like that $1 iced tea. They are closed M-W open for lunch Th-Sun. Wow! I think this is the best barbecue I've ever had. The brisket was so moist and tender and delicious. You did not even need barbecue sauce! The side dishes were not just " a side"- they were well thought out, homemade wonderful dishes. They had choices of green chili mac & cheese, green chili potatoes au gratin, green chili tater tot casserole, brussels sprouts Yum, jalapeño cornbread, David's beans, grandma's green bean casserole, pineapple, coleslaw, homemade potato salad, can't remember what else. It was not just your run-of-the-mill side dishes . I believe this is the only place in town that you can get a large iced tea for only a dollar! All the cooking and the service is done by servants that live at the El Paso Rescue Mission. There are people that have turned their lives around because of the Rescue Mission and beaten their addictions. Our waitress Alejandra, was so very attentive, gracious, and one of the best waitresses I've seen. she checked on us regularly and helped us with suggestions. The restaurant itself was wonderful- obviously newly decorated yet had the feel of an old train station. They had wonderful decorations and spacious seating areas. It was good seating for groups (like ours). I didn't notice it at first, but there was a stuffed leopard sitting on top of the cross railings above the dining area, it was magnificent! Other than the hours that the restaurant is open, everything is wonderful. You do have to plan ahead in order to make it between 10 and three Wednesday Wednesday through Sunday. We stoped here on day 6 of a road trip through Texas. Hands down, this was the best BBQ that we had on the trip! The brisket was perfect. Moist, not over smoked, great seasoning, and the right pull. The baby back ribs were some of the best I've had in Texas. The pulled pork was good, I like a little more sauce and juice, but their BBQ sauce complemented it well. The beans were spot on, with the right amount of flavor and a touch of heat. Cole slaw was awesome with a good flavor, not over sauced. The building is in an industrial part of the city, but the inside was perfect, clean and had good ambiance. Our server was super helpful, explained the menu well with great recommendations. On top of all of this, the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend stopping here if you are driving through this part of the state. If you are a local, I envy you. The best brisket I've ever had. As soon as you walk in the interior is spectacular. The back story is a beautiful one that helps so many. The wait service was friendly and efficient. Food always great. Definitely a tex-mex fusion with some of the flavor profiles. I am accustomed to a central Texas style of barbecue places like Meat Church or Franklin's but this place was also very good. I ordered the 2 meat/2side platte. Ribs and brisket with pineapple coleslaw and David's beans along with an order of the 13 habanero sausage. I was expecting to be asked if I wanted spare ribs or babybacks and the same with the brisket with the point(wet) or the flat (dry) but I did not. The platter came out with baby backs and the flat of the brisket.. flavors were great and so was the tenderness. The sausage was mushy on the inside but had a great flavor profile. The only reason I docked it a star was due to the sausage being mushy inside. David's beans were good, cornbread was good. But the pineapple coleslaw was amazing. Wish I had more of that. The guys were nice and I don't think there's such a thing as bad Texas bbq but having had terry black's the night before, this place fell short. Everything was really dry. The brisket had no flop.
