Traveling to El Paso from California a few times a year we are always looking for good Mexican food. We had heard of Lucy's from Tik Tok and decided to try it out. We knew when we walked in we found a winner. Chips and salsa were another sign the food was going to be good. The salsa was the perfect amount of spicy. Very busy on the Saturday we went. Lucy's is a go to place for Mexican fare In a small shopping center. I saw a TV spot that praised the green chili burger. I was a bit disappointed. The servings are huge. The fries were undercooked and the bun soggy from all the stuff in it. There are 3 choices and you can have lucy burger with 3 patties or junior with 2. I love this place! Anytime I cruise through the west side of El Paso, TX and have time to grab a meal, I usually make a point of eating at this small family restaurant that shares building space with the King's X bar. I learned about this place in university when I lived at the apartments behind the establishment and I had friends who worked at the bar. Initially the bar is where I spent my time, but eventually I started coming here just for the food. It's kind of a greasy spoon, but it is so delicious! The family serves typical TexMex dishes. I did a combination plate so that I could sample a little bit of everything: enchilada, taco, chile rellano, and tamale. Plus, beans, rice, and fresh tortillas are served with the plate. I got iced tea to wash it all down. The tables and chairs are old school items that you might find in a breakfast diner back in the 50s. Nothing pretty, but very practical. There isn't a lot of space, so you might find yourself taking your order to go or asking someone if you can join them at their table if they have room. There are often families with their kids getting food here. The parking lot is often packed because people come here to watch the game and grab a drink with friends. The driveway is narrow entering on one side and exiting on the other side. Although it is not clear which is which. Turning off and on to Mesa Blvd is fast paced, so just do the best you can. Your car might get dinged here. Leave the Maserati at home. Definitely my favorite restaurant in El Paso. read more

Now Lucy's always will have a special place in my heart. Being a native of El Paso this is a must stop to eat. Don't let the street parking deter you. Or the 5 star cocktail bar it's attached too. A friend from high school highly suggested Lucy's and the machaca. The drive wasn't too far from the hotel. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. After we ordered, she brought us each a cup of fideo. My machaca was awesome. I would definitely stop in again. read more

Visiting from So. Cal, and first time at Lucy's and it was delicious. Kid approved as well! Excellent customer service, and well attended to. Felt very comfortable, like you're at home with family. This place was a treat for me in College and I am so happy to say they're still going strong. Some of my best memories were Friday nights with my friend enjoying cervesa and chimichangas as we welcomed the end of a grueling week. I miss thhose simple days, but they return every time I walk back through the doors! Sadly, it's seldom that I get back to El Paso these days. The smell of the place lingers in my nostrils for days after, the fragrant food, the sounds of people enjoying their evenings. From food to friendly service, this restaurant knocks it out of the park. This is a true hole-in- the- wall gem! My husband and I went for breakfast around 11 this morning. They started us out with fresh chips and salsa. We loved the thin, crispy chips and the salsa that was fairly mild yet packed with flavor. Hubby ordered the Breakfast Machaca, and I ordered the Chilangas. I pretty much had no idea what I was ordered when I selected it but decided to take a chance. It was delicious, kind of like breakfast nachos. All the food was super delicious!!! As we were paying, we met the owner. He is so friendly and nice. They have excellent pricing for the quantity of food you are given. My family and I were rolling into the El Paso area pretty late in the evening but hadn't gotten dinner yet, so our options were limited. We noticed Lucy's was open late; when we arrived, we discovered why- it's connected to a bar! LOL. You could easily walk between the two (in fact, if you need to use the restroom, you will have to). The loud music from next door was quite audible from inside Lucy's, but if you can see past this (or perhaps if you like that vibe) then you'll be fine. Our server was really hustling to keep things running efficiently and getting orders out quickly. One nice surprise was that we were all served a cup of soup prior to our orders coming out! I hadn't seen that anywhere on the menu, but was pleased by its flavor. This place is definitely a little "run down" in that it likely hasn't seen any renovations since it opened in I believe the late 70's. But as I said, for the price, I can't complain! I ordered the Tacos Antonia - fried tacos with shredded meat and avocado with special sauce- yumm! My friend ordered a Mexican plate that was very good. The food was blah. Everything came out salty. The restaurant didn't fell clean. The service was good. The waitress was very polite and attentive. The problem that I had was when I asked for a Togo container for my soda, the manager gave me a used container. Who does that?! I couldn't believe what he did. We dropped by for a late Breakfast and also had a few Lunch plate Orders. Everything ordered was delicious to say the least. The establishment has been here in El Paso like 'for ever' and the establishment is considered a place you cannot miss. It's adjacent the King's X Bar, another often frequented by many establishment. So if you decide to try Lucy's and it looks full, no problem, you'll be seated in the bar area through a convenient side door. I'm a native El Pasoan, although I haven't lived there since 2009. Lucy's was our absolute favorite breakfast joint in high school. Both this location - and the diner location behind Cathedral High School (go Irish!). I recently had the pleasure of going to Lucy's again for the first time since I moved in '09. It's just as I remember it! Walk in, sit anywhere you'd like in this small, quaint, restaurant. Settle in... and have one of the best mexican breakfasts/food you'll have while in El Paso: promise. I literally walked in, and saw the same gentleman who we always used to see in the restaurant ten years ago. I made a comment to him that I remembered him after all these years... and it turns out he's been there over 30 years! What a testament to the family and owners of this little gem! They obviously have a serious following - and loyal customers - a/k/a the "golden ticket" for small "mom and pop shops". If you go to Lucy's for breakfast, you have to get the Machaca plate - shredded beef & egg, smothered with chile con queso? Yes please! Trust me - you won't be sorry you ate here... Pretty good! We ordered food for takeout recently (on Mother's Day). My bf's sister picked up the food. She said it was busy and had to wait quite awhile for it. That's to be expected on Mother's Day. I'm not sure how the service was but I didn't hear any complaints from her. I was glad my order was correct! I ordered red enchiladas with beans and rice...no onions. BTW (just a small side note) I remember coming to Kings X Bar many years back but I never went into Lucy's. I'm not even sure why? Not sure if Kings X is still a biker bar but back then it was. I think you could order food from Lucy's if you were drinking at Kings X...idk it's been so long! Anyway the 2 are attached/connected. Getting back to the food... Everything tasted like it was fresh and made to order. The cheese was melted just right inside and outside of the enchiladas. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly. The red chile they used for the enchiladas was flavorful. The only complaint I have was that the food was more greasy than I would've liked. Their green salsa was really tasty. I enjoyed adding some to my beans and rice. It was also great on the tostadas. Pretty good tostadas too! Would I come back? Maybe if I'm close by. I hear their other location by Savers (on Mesa too) is bigger and better than this one. The location by Savers is closer to me. I might check that one out soon. P.S. Right next door is a great dive bar with TV's and pool tables. Excellent old atmosphere, attentive wait staff and no complaints in the food at all. Great choice Yelpers! Hole in the wall diner attached to King's X bar. About 8 tables and booths so it's a small restaurant. They were a bit busy when we arrived but were seated quickly. After receiving our drinks and figuring out what we wanted, it took about another 15 min for us to place our order. The bathrooms were on the bar side and clean. T-Bone steak 5* - my boys loved it and only $10.95 for the meal. They ordered Texas style whicb came with french fries and onion rings. Machaca 5* - daughter enjoyed the queso covered shredded beef. We ordered with spanish rice but came with hash browns. NBD she ate it with my aide flour tortillas. Huevos Rancheros 4* - I normally don't eat the corn tortillas under it but they had melted cheese between the eggs and tortilla and it was delicious. It came with rice, beans, and flour tortilla which I didn't eat. Caldillo 2* - wanted caldo de res but this was an ok substitute. It was cold so wasn't enjoyable. Barbacoa burrito 5* - packed with moist meat and flavorful. Loved this burrito especially only being $3 something. Everyone was nice and I can see why they have great reviews. My husband has fond memories of this place from long ago, so I was eager to try it. You definitely don't go here for the ambiance, which is fine with me -- I'd rather have delicious food than fancy trappings. We both ordered the beef machaca, which seems to be unavailable anywhere besides El Paso. (I've had machacado, but that is a totally different meal.) It was good (nice and cheesy), but I must admit, I'm not a big meat aficionado, and the concept of eggs with chicken just doesn't work for me). The salsa was good. My husband liked the coffee, but I thought it tasted burned. The service was friendly -- the waitress encouraged us to take a larger table, which was nice. A hidden local place tucked in between constructions. You almost will miss the turn into this place. Parking in the back looks sketchy and we entered thru the back alley, into what seems like a bar. I've had really good tacos prior in Phoenix AZ, so the food here would have been 4-stars in comparison, however, their dessert completely sold me. 100%. Do not skip out on the flan or tres leches. The flan was homemade, sweet enough but not overwhelming, soft and just amazing. The tres leches was one of the best I've had, very moist and soft, top layer of cream is thin and doesn't take away from the cake.
