Craving bbq this Saturday I came early afternoon to Rib Hit East. I already knew what I wanted. I'd been dreaming of it all day. I got a root beer, a small combo with brisket and of course some honey glazed spare ribs, green beans and corn on the cob. Though I haven been here In several months I could have swore it used to be a whole ear of corn in the past, not a cobette. I also wanted an appetizer to start of some of their fried mushrooms with gravy instead of ranch. My drink came right away, it was ice cold and the Root Beer right on point. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. Wondering after about 10 minutes now or so where my mushrooms were.... Waited a little more ... and out came my entree. With apologies, some mix up in the kitchen and mushrooms ??? So I said to cancel them, because I wanted them as an appetizer, to eat beforehand. So now that my food had arrived, I no longer needed them. So my waiter said he would. So I'm buttering my corn. Salt and peppering it, trying my green beans (so good, but needed some salt and pepper too), opening this tiny maybe 2oz thimble full of bbq sauce for all that meat on my plate, taking a bite out of my first spare rib and another gentleman shows up with a basket of mushrooms and ranch. Apologizing that mine actually got sent to another table so they had to make mine again. I chew the rib chunk in my mouth and tell him that I had cancelled them already because they were to be an appetizer. And I already had my food. He again apologized and asked could he just give them to me, after all they were already made, I told him i didn't want him to have to do that but he insisted. So I agreed. I didn't know how many I might eat now, I was already out of the notion. But it was nice of him to comp them and leave them. So my food. Ribs were amazing. As always. My brisket was either the first cut or last cut on the board. It was more like burnt ends. I had no nice slices of brisket. Everything was black tough char. Some small outer slices, some outer chunks. All crusted and black. I just kept telling myself, this must be what burnt ends are like! And used sauce to try and moisten it... but on most of it, that was impossible. It was hard, tough, hard to chew. Very flavorful for what it was and I have pretty good teeth. But I got no nice softer moist slices. I didn't complain, I just soldiered on and ate it all. My ribs were so good, this day I wish I'd just gotten them. The corn was very nice and kernels popped when you bit into them but they were cold? The cobette would not melt butter. I've never had that issue before. The mushrooms were piping hot so I could tell they were fresh made. But I only ate about 5. I was all about my plate by the time it came. So this wasn't 5 star visit this time. I will be back, they still have my favorite bbq sauce in town, it tastes like Central Texas Bbq Sauce. So the brisket and corn missed the mark this visit, normally they are both on point. And the Gentleman in the Red shirt went out of his way to correct a kitchen or other waitpersons mistake on my appetizer in a friendly quick manner and I greatly appreciate that. And I'll tell others. I think I'd say, don't serve customers all black first cuts or last cuts on brisket unless they ask for that, most of us are looking for some nice lean to moist tender slices when it comes to brisket, thank you.! read more

This was my first time coming here. The restaurant was clean. The server was friendly and polite. The service time was appropriate for the time of day and how busy it was. 3 stars because a place called RIB HUT has to know that the membrane absolutely has to come off the ribs. The ribs tasted great. I didn't NEED bbq sauce although that was good too. But they were tougher than they should be because the membrane. I will come back, and hopefully the membrane will be gone and I can give 5 stars. read more

Rib Hut has been an El Paso BBQ staple for as long as I can remember. In recent years they opened this 2nd location on the far eastside of town & this was our first time checking it out. Michael greeted us and immediately set the tone for the great service he provided. We asked a bunch of menu questions, ordered drinks & started with brisket nachos, which were good. BBQ plates for everybody with options that included baby back ribs, brisket, turkey, chicken & sausage. All brisket ordered was lean - 2 of 3 plates that had it came as ordered & that was our favorite of the meats. Turkey was also good along with sausage. Ironically, the ribs were our least favorite of the meats. For sides we had a loaded backed potato, hatch chile & bacon Mac, regular Mac, fries, potato salad & beans. Beans were probably our fav. Food was good - solid bbq option to consider regularly. Well most likely return again sometime soon for some tasty options along with the great service read more

We dined there for Father's Day. We arrived and were quoted 25 minutes. We were told we could go wait in the bar. The bartender did not acknowledge us for 30 minutes. He was clearly very busy and overwhelmed. At one point a manager in a purple shirt came over and was looking for the bartender she took our drink order while complaining she wasn't the bartender. She poured two beers and when the bartender returned told him to make the other drink. We stayed in the bar area for nearly 1.5 hours waiting for a table. We were finally seated. We sat there again unacknowledged for 10 minutes. I asked the hostess if we had a server. The purple shirt manager came over and took our order. Our chips and salsa came out quickly but then no food no one checked on us for over 45 minutes. At this point our entire party was starving and upset. I flagged the hostess down again and asked for another manager. He came out of the kitchen apologized and said our food would be out in 5 minutes. When it came my mom's chicken tenders were so hard they were inedible. Our beef ribs were dry with barely and meat. We gave up and asked for to gos when I told the purple shirt manager my moms food was inedible she said "she should have told me I'll take them off" we didn't sit in your restaurant for 2 hours to have you take off an inedible entree. We went to celebrate a special occasion which was ruined by your rude and overwhelmed staff. I get it Fathers Day is busy but to be treated like a nuisance and with such lack of care left me feeling insulted and disrespected. What a truly awful experience. read more

Stopped by rib hut this afternoon for a bday lunch. It was a Saturday afternoon and not too busy. I was in the mood for beef ribs and that what I ordered, the beef rib plate. My order wasn't long, maybe 15 minutes and it was out. 2 huge ribs, a baked potato and ranch style beans. It looked the meat looked kinda rough, they were a little chewy and hard. I'm guessing maybe those ribs had been sitting awhile. Anyways I ate what I could and I was full off the baked potato and beans. I wasn't ready so "I" politely suggested that we begin with drinks. This person was literally whispering to me. I had to ask her several times to repeat herself. We came here to eat from a road trip and we were glad to Find this place. The food was good. Meals and drinks cheap/affordable. What made this place 5 star experience for me was thanks to their bartender, Adrian, when he made one of the best old fashioned (non smoked) I've had throughout our road trip. EAST SIDE LOCATION Listen the food is good, not all but I'd say most of is. Brisket was very delicious this last time. The service was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. The ambiance was bothersome, you could clearly hear the kitchen workers, waiters and whomever was back there cussing and being obnoxiously loud. While I'm no saint myself I was with my family including grandkids and the F word is the last thing I want to hear while I'm enjoying a nice family dinner. So my wife and I were running around on errands and decided to go have dinner and a we discussed where to go we decided to go to The Rib Hut as it had been years since we last visited. We get there and are promptly greeted by Michael, who seats us and is very polite. My wife tells him we are craving ribs and so on, and he smiles and tells us, "Well, you guys came on a good day because it's rib night." Say No More! Both our eyes lit up. My wife ordered 3, and I ordered 2, and my wife ordered a side salad, and I got the beans and some jalapeños. I also ordered a Bloody Maria, yes, a Bloody Maria. It's the same as a Bloody Mary but made with tequila instead of vodka. Michael had never heard of it but hooked me up. It's delicious, and I highly recommend it over a Bloody Mary. The ribs were delicious, and I ordered 2 more. To say that we enjoyed our meal is an understatement as Wednesdays are now penciled in on my calendar, but for everyone else, it's Tuesday, ok? read more

The food was excellent, the portions were large, the service was great. Watch out for all the up charges though. Extra for butter, extra for items on your plain potatoe side, charges drink I didn't order. All the extras are fine as long as you are aware of them. They just all shown on the bill. I scratched the roof of my mouth and my the inside of my throat with every bite and my jaw was tired from the chewing. The rack of Beef ribs were fine, BBQ sampler was fine, but there was no moisture in the baby backs and the top was charred as hell. It was like a dry Jack Links. Called to make a complaint and the kid that answered said, "Yeah, I remember that order. That's weird they're usually good, but I'll take that into consideration." If you haven't tried the Hut East, get there. The variety is commendable, the taste and flavor is distinct, and the portions are very worthwhile. Pork and beef ribs and delicious, brisket very tender and tasty, the potatoes are out of this world!!! A hidden gem for sure. read more

I'm having trouble deciding on how to review this place. My wife & I wanted to love it, but (at best) it's a like. My wife enjoyed her baby back ribs, but they weren't as tender & flavorful as she hoped. No smoke aroma or flavor. I tried the turkey & brisket combo for something different. The turkey was dry & flavorless. The brisket was tender, but was also a bit flavorless. Neither meat smelled or tasted of smoke. Their BBQ sauce helped with that regard, but seems a bit salty. The sides were the stars - the steak fries were fantastic as was the cole slaw (which has pineapple tidbits in it.) We also ordered a couple of mixed berry cobblers to take with us. It turned out that they were cherry and just seem to be dump cake. One side of my piece of cobbler seemed to have some BBQ rub on it and had to be tossed. The service was very good. I'm willing to try them again, but I'll probably just get a burger - with steak fries because wow - those are fantastic. read more

Ya know...walking into this place, I really wanted to love it. Like, I really, REALLY wanted to love it. And I whilst I stick by the presumption this place holds potential, I gotta say that the biggest thing holding back [this location of] Rib Hut from even being able to hold a candle to the likes of Applebee's is...the kitchen. Because, guys...lemme tell ya...the kitchen has problems up the ass! First, let's get things out the way and give props where props are due; the service was outstanding. When I say outstanding, I'm talking about a waitress with the patience of an anaconda, the cordiality of an airline stewardess serving first class, and the sincerity of Jennifer Lawrence. It's just too bad the kitchen staff didn't have her back. Because the execution of the main course was a train wreck. Allow me to elaborate.. The drinks and appetizers came out at blazingly fast speed. So I knew right off the bat that we had stellar table side service. Now again, giving credit where credit is due, the wings were sensational! They might even be the best wings I've tasted in El Paso since Track One. Messy...but good and tangy like they should be. And they paired perfectly with the bleu cheese. With that out the way, we can discuss the main courses...and how long they took to get out the kitchen. So, there I am...just chit-chatting the night away with my folks at the dinner table. A good time is had by all, yada yada...when it suddenly occurs to me: it had been over an hour since we ordered our food. So, we flag down the waitress to inquire about the delay. She goes back to the kitchen, returns..and informs us they're working our ticket still. One problem though...the salads hadn't arrived either. The...SALADS!! As the waitress brings us our salads, we finally decide it's time to get the manager involved with this atrocity. Now, the manager approaches the table and is both cordial and humble as ever. I was seriously impressed with her patience and professionalism. So, we explain to her the situation: about how we ordered our food about 45 minutes prior to summoning her and all that. Now...here's where things get interesting.. We arrived at the restaurant..maybe around 7:45. We placed orders...maybe around 8:10, give or take. The manager told us our orders didn't arrive in kitchen until 8:37. Now, some of you might be thinking, "Oh snap! The waitress done effed up!" But...here's the problem with that logic: our appetizers and drinks arrived smartly on point. Which leads me to one conclusion: the kitchen is a disorganized mess. And when the kitchen is disorganized, everything else falls apart in turn and they stand no chance. "But Jay, how do you know the kitchen is that bad?" you might be asking. Well, I haven't told you the most bizarre practice.. I ordered a ribeye steak tonight. The manager had the integrity to let me know they slice their steaks AS THEY'RE BEING ORDERED. Yeah. You read that correctly. In short, this kitchen does not practice preemptive prep for their products. You can imagine how much this slows down production. She also asked how we ordered our meats (as in what temp). I know where she was going with this, but honestly...it didn't matter. End of the night, the place was so backed up with orders thanks to their bizarre practices in kitchen prep, they had NO hope in keeping up with orders in a manner that would have satisfied the entire house of guests as a whole. Oh...that's another thing; the place wasn't even packed the gills or anything like that. Yet other tables seated way after us were getting their food before us. So, to recap and summarize.. Service was sweet, cordial and that poor waitress was trying her ass off to make sure we had a delightful time. None of what happened tonight was her fault. And the manager tried to make things right the best she could as well (we did actually get free desserts at the end of the night....which featured undercooked apples, but whatever). The unfortunate fact here is no amount of cordiality can do much for a disorganized, backed up, apathetic kitchen. Because while the steak I had was...shockingly well seasoned and perfectly cooked, the kitchen missed the mark on most (if not all) of the sides. The baked potato had a modest amount of butter and sour cream, the steak fries were raw, and one of our salads had a potato in it. A...potato. Just...let that sink in for a minute. I think Rib Hut needs to hire a new prep cook. Because for the time being, this place is worthy of about 2 tardy salads with a side of nonessential potato out of 5. The only consistent thing about rib hut east is it's inconsistency! 50/50, flip a coin whether you'll get decent bbq or pure rubbish. The last 3 times in a row, I've lost that bet! This visit, the pork spareribs had good flavor but were really tough. The baby back ribs were tender enough but bland as hell. The beef rib was the worst, extra dry and shriveled up like jerky and the fat tasted rancid! Loaded potato was good but the coleslaw tasted like the cabbage was about to turn. Found the place just doing quick search for lunch as I was leaving the Lowe's store down the street. BBQ is always very subjective based on personal taste and a persons regional area so hard to comment on flavor. I will say the brisket and chicken were good along with the potato salad and beans. The small combo plate was a lot of food for the money especially in today's economy of restaurant prices. My server; Victoria was very attentive and took great care of me during my visit, if I didn't live 900 miles away I would be a regular for sure. Hello, I need to make management aware of the horrible experience we had today. I placed an order online for 2:45. We waited in the pick up window for 12 minutes prior to anyone acknowledging us. At that point I made the person who assisted aware but received no apology or reason why we were ignored. And we were ignored, as at least two employees saw us in the window. The order was missing a vegetable side, the steak fries and the curly fries were very cold and chewy. They must have been sitting there for over 20 minutes as we were. The brisket was under cooked. No color to it. Full of fat. I don't know how that would be served inside your establishment without any other complaints. I believe it should have come with a roll as well which was missing. Seems as if they do not care for your customers looking to have a good experience on a holiday. We could go to hundreds of other locations. unfortunately we chose yours. UPDATE Owner reached out to us and apologized for our experience and did make things right. I appreciate that very much. Went to pick up food for my family and go through the drive thru lane and was told my order doesn't exist so I confirm with cashier that I ordered to right location and then the story changed to my order was given to wrong person and they are going to make a new order. On a family outing we wanted to try something different and we chose The Rib hut. For a first time visit they did not disappoint. Our server Maddie, was excellent and she is very attentive. She took her time to go over the specials and recommendations to the menu. The food came out pretty quick and the portion was HUGE and very delicious !! I'm happy that I split my plate because I wouldn't be able to eat it by myself. We ordered the baby back ribs which were bigger than my head and it was tender. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch time out and will definitely come back again. The appetizer that we chose was buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, and chips with salsa, which was gone before I could take a picture. Of all the times I've been in the area, I had no idea this place existed, so when I came here today based on my friends recommended. I was excited. I LOVE BBQ and the smell from outside had me thrilled. Immediately walking in the host with the long hair was cool and inviting with the small talk. I loved the way it was decorated inside and the menu seemed to have a lot on it. I couldn't find my beloved pulled pork bbq on it after searching so I kept looking. The waitress came and asked if we were ready to order, my friend was, I wasn't, I asked and she said no - which is weird because I'm used to pulled pork as normal for BBQ BUT I can't always have my way - she pointed me at this pork loin sandwich so I ordered it. It took a bit to get. She was sweet but not attentive in the slightest, while the food took a while, our drinks were empty for a long time and another server or runner offered to fill up my friends drink. This happened twice. (Understandable that things happen as servers, I get it.) Though when checking on us with full plates of food and not paying attention to the empty cups is pretty bad. Now the food. The most important part. Digging into the curly fries: so good! Crispy and tasty. The Mac and cheese that I paid extra for? ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I was way to embarrassed to say anything but my friend took the first bit and all he said was "creamy" --- it's like velveeta, but so so so much worse. I don't know if it's made in house, but I couldn't even think of a way to undo the bad at home. Just plastic tasting and fake cheese. The entree? Such a disappointment. The meat was dry. I sauced it up but even that didn't do it any good. Dipping it in extra sauce, nope. The bun was soft, so that was good. It made me sad how hyped I was for such a bad experience. When I think of bbq I think of juicy, smoked, savory, saucy, messy, covered in everything experience. This really put a bitter taste in my mouth. My friend said his was dry too. So we decided to check this place since we just moved to this side of town.I ordered me some brisket and sausage and for the two sides I got beans and Mac n cheese. The brisket was really tough and dry and they put too much pepper on it. The sausage was alright. The beans was not good at all and the Mac n cheese needed more seasonings, it was too bland. Let me not forget y'all , they only have 1 type of bbq sauce and it was not good at all, it did not taste like bbq sauce to me. Me, my wife and my sis in law were very disappointed, we won't be coming back to this place . But our waiter was very nice and he had great customer service so I'm giving this place 1 star for that.
