Fast forward to spring 2025 when I tried to adjust the timing myself and ended up breaking a part. Based on John's recommendation, I called Phil who picked it up and had it at his shop for several months. He had to manufacture a part as well as make numerous adjustments. It took several more home visits and another stay at his shop to finally get it running smoothly. Phil's price was reasonable and although it took a while to get the clock perfectly balanced, he always made it clear I could keep calling him back until it ran smoothly. To other customers, I would say to keep in mind this is not like a 2-hour engine tune-up, especially for grandfather clocks.

Only go here if you have a disposable watch you want them to manhandle, because they destroyed a 14K vintage quartz Concord while trying to open it and didn't even manage to. See the attached picture for the number they did on a watch which was safe-kept until they got their hands on it. First, Mike, the younger of the two attempted it, and upon failing, handed it to Jeff, the older man. Both were using too much force, but Jeff clearly leaned into it and severely damaged my gold watch. They then gave up, and handed the watch back to me as if they hadn't caused significant damages, and insisted it had not been them when I made them take note of this.
