First time here and had a great experience. Jessica cut my hair and I LOVE it!! Highly recommend!read more

I had my hair colored there (balayaged). The Owner Rhea did…read moremy hair. She charged me the full blonde session (balayage) fee plus $50 toner although I only had the partial balayage and it was okay for me. But to my surprise, when I was paying, she charged me another $90 for the extra products which she said 3 bowls of extra dye because my hair is so thick...what? I went to some hair salons & I was never charged for that plus my hair is not that thick! I was so disappointed of her. She charged me $421 (including my $79 deposit) less the root touch up coz I decided not to have it anymore. I felt like I was taken advantage. Will never go back! ***Response to the owner: You didn't discuss about the extra product that is $90! You only told me when I was about to pay. Yes, I decided not to have the root touch up anymore and was hoping I will pay less but I ended up paying more because of your extra charge. The partial custom blonde session you charged me $202 + $79 deposit = $281. I know toner is included in the price. The extra product you clearly said because my hair is so thick. My gray hair were still visible and to the point that I went to the other salon to have it root touched up coz it looks bad...that was my bad coz I decided not to get it but hoping root smudge will help. Anyway, my main complaint is the $90 extra product which you clearly told me was for the "3 bowls" of products which I understood for the extra color. Over all, I was not satisfied of your service. I paid $421 plus 15% tip! And look at my hair Please don't say I was lying here! On my first review, I meant you charged me the full blonde session fee although I will only get the partial blonde and that was fine with me...I never complain about the price. Yes,I was wrong about the "toner"...I meant the root smudge. Partial blonde session: $202 Advance deposit: $79 Root smudge : $50 Extra 3 bowls of product: $90 Total: $421 Tip: $60 ****Final Response to the owner: Again and again, I was not complaining about the partial blonde session fee you charged me. And I know what is the difference between root smudge & root touch up. I was only giving the detail what happened before, during and after the service you gave me. As what I've said, my main complaint was the $90 extra for the 3 bowls of products which you never told me until I was about to pay. Please don't insist that you discussed it to me before you did my hair. I am not a troublemaker & I am not ignorant about the rules in the salons. I went to a lot of salons and never write a review even if sometimes I feel a little bit disappointed of the outcome of the service they made. But I never encountered something like this. $90 is a lot of money for me. I was just shy to complain in your salon because there were some clients waiting. Although when I was paying and asked you what was the $90 for, your reply was for the 3 bowls of extra products, I have no choice but to pay. I left in shocked and feeling sad. I decided to go to you coz you have good reviews plus you are a filipina too. I failed. ****I forgot to say, my hair was not jet black that you need to put extra 3 bowls of product to lighten it (as what you said) to achieve the desired color. My color was previously bleached and light colored already.

To set the context, I'm particularly picky about my haircuts and have made the trek down to…read moreChinatown to get them for more than a decade. In this particular instance though, I was a bit desperate. I needed to get a haircut before a trip I was taking to meet some professional clients and did not have time to drive all the way to Chicago to get one before I left. I saw that this salon had just opened up fairly close to me, had some good reviews, and that being new (though I think they actually were just in a different location), they would know how to cut more contemporary styles. Overall, I've been to this location 4 times now and here's a breakdown of my experience: 1st haircut = 5 stars 2nd haircut = 5 stars 3rd haircut = 3 stars (4th time was to fix what I considered a really uneven haircut) My 1st haircut exceeded my expectations. I was really impressed by how close to what I wanted my hair stylist Yana was able to cut my hair. I showed her a picture, described a few things I wanted, and it felt as though she put in a lot of care and detail to each part of my haircut. My 2nd haircut a month later was essentially the same as the 1st and I was really happy to have found a place to get my haircut that was only 20 minutes away instead of an hour plus. My 3rd haircut though was a huge bummer. In part, it might have been the circumstances because they had a walk-in come in at the same exact time I had scheduled my appointment and they initially confused the walk-in as the person who booked the appointment, and so perhaps it had something to do with the divided attention (she would switch off cutting each of our hair during the shampooing the hair phase - you can opt to do it before or after the haircut). When I got home, my wife remarked at how unevenly cut my hair was. When I compared it to the pictures I took the 1st two times, it felt like a different haircut even though I asked for the exact same thing each time. I called them the next day to ask if I could come in for a fix and after a bit of confusion on the phone, I scheduled something for two days later, a Friday (Yana doesn't go in on Thursdays). To set some additional context, the salon's usual patrons are usually all Korean and are able to speak Korean with the stylists. I bring that up because while I observed that, it wasn't very clear to me how much English was or wasn't understood (since I don't speak Korean nor am I Korean). I just assumed they knew enough to get my haircut done the way I wanted. When making my follow-up appointment for the fix, the confusion became more apparent that it was a language obstacle. When I got there on Friday, I knew something was off because it felt like Yana went through an entire haircut with me. I expected to only spend about 5 minutes getting my hair fixed but it ended up being the usual 25ish minutes with shampoo and everything. It was only after the haircut when this other lady told me the cost, that I had to explain to them I had just come for a fix. I thought Yana would recognize me since I had just gotten a haircut earlier that week but that didn't seem to be the case at the end. To their credit, when they realized the misunderstanding, they were super nice about it and didn't charge me anything and so it ended up with me getting a shorter version of the haircut I initially came for (at least it was even). In the end, I have some mixed feelings. On one hand, I have gotten very good haircuts here in the past and intend on going at least once more to see how it goes, especially because I'm intending to do the same style I've done the past few times. On the other hand, I also recognize that there exists a communication barrier if you're not a Korean speaker, which means if you're asking for a style that is different from what they're used to cutting, things may get lost in translation. I do believe that they will do their best to understand and to accommodate. If in doubt, Google Translate is your friend.

Great service. They were short staffed the day we went. There's a small drink/snack section next to…read morethe sitting area. Also, Netflix playing in the background. Yuna did a fantastic job on my daughter's highlights and cut. She was detailed and took her time. I would say to be patient when short staffed. She is a wonder-woman taking care of multiple clients at a time. She was even answering phones. There is an assistant that was very helpful too. We will definitely be back!
