    Vibe inside

Love this place!!! SUCH cute decorations, plenty of seating. Great vibes, I love hanging out here to meet with people or do homework. Every drink I've tried has been so yummy. The employees are super kind and personable too! Orders are made incredibly fast too

Thank you Halwa for being open on this wintery day!! We are thankful that all the other coffee shops were closed so we could discover this hidden gem of a cafe here in the Burg. Excellent service, great selection of bakery goods and warm beverages. We will definitely skip the commercial coffee shops and go here in the future. Great ambiance and prices too!!!

A cute little cafe in the downtown area. The inside of the cafe was nice and cozy with people just hanging out or doing work. While there was one person working to take orders and make our drinks, she was quick and we didn't have to wait long. We got the Lebanese latte and pistachio latte. Both were really good and would highly recommend going there for coffee and just hang out. We didn't have time to try their bakery items but they looked really good!

Amazing variety of food, pastries, coffee, and drinks! And they are delicious!! Some of my favorite coffee drinks that they make include their Turkish coffee, Nutella latte, and Campfire latte! They also have seasonal drinks and sweet treats!! The place itself is super cute, the ambiance is immaculate, and the workers are super welcoming, nice, and hardworking!

I was really looking forward to checking out this bakery/cafe in the Blacksburg area. The first thing I noticed was how warm and cozy the interior looked. The owner greeted my sister and I as soon as we walked in. She was really friendly and patient as we took our time picking what we wanted to eat and drink. I ended up going with the hot Banana Foster latte with almond milk and it was fantastic! We also got the kenafa, baklava, and apricot and apple bars. Everything was so good! I really liked that the bakery wasn't super sweet. It was just right. The best part of it all was that the owner bakes everything on her own. What a great addition to the community. I'll definitely be back next time I visit!

Dirty iced chai latte and iced blueberry matcha latte

What a cute little oasis! Stopped in for a mid day treat with my boyfriend on a Saturday. It was super chill inside, being it's the summer in a college town. Lots of cozy spots to sit. THE MENU IS OVERWHELMING. However, the staff is super friendly and helpful in guiding you on choosing a drink. I got an iced matcha with blueberry and he got an iced dirty chai, both with oat milk. I noted that each cup appeared to have a unique drawing on them, I'm assuming by staff members. HOW CUTE!! Our drinks were perfect, quickly made and very tasty. Cheers!

Just delicious, we shared a loaded baklava with pistachio gelato and pistachios and a Lebanese iced latte with pistachio and rose. What an amazing treat to finish our evening! More than we expected- will be back!

Halwal offers a solid line-up of drinks and treats. I had the earl gray iced latte, which was a well-balanced and refreshing drink. In addition, I had a serving of their almond basbousa, which was delicious but a little sweet for my liking (however, I imagine that was the intention). I sat on the patio, so I cannot speak to the inside vibe, but the patio was nice enough. The one thing I would have preferred is the use of reusable plates/etc. Serving food on paper plates leaves a lot to be desired for the vibe and for the environment.

Great atmosphere and Gary coffee and treats. Perhaps a bit overpriced, but hey, thems the breaks in 2023.

The place might be fine but just note that the other review is wrong and there are no vegan options here.

It saddens me to leave a negative review about Our Daily Bread, but my most recent experience was…read morevery disappointing. I have lived in Blacksburg my whole life and ODB has been a go-to bakery for most locals for a while. Serving a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, and offering lunch, brunch, and dinners. They have a lovely variety of options for customers to enjoy. The bakery primarily serves French pastries and caters to French cuisine at their meals. Although they offer more than just French inspired food. In the past, my family and I have enjoyed grabbing their cakes for celebrations and individual pastries from their pastries case. But recently, they have not been up to par and have left us very unsatisfied. The cakes have been dry and do not taste fresh at all. On my latest visit I tried a couple of things, all of which were cold, with dry, crumbly textures. It was evident to me that these pastries were not made day-of and had clearly sat in a fridge for at least one night (if not more). I found this to be extremely disappointing as ODB used to have a reputation of serving FRESH baked goods and pastries. I cannot attest for the hot food they serve during meal times, but the pastries and cakes have gone down hill. Over the winter break, I had their NY cheesecake bar (which I've gotten in the past and it was phenomenal) and it fell so short of what I remembered. It was lacking flavor and the crust at the bottom was dry. This past visit, I tried a Napoleon (also have had this before and really enjoyed it), a specialty cake, a scone, and a couple macarons and macaroons. The Napoleon was so cold and the puff pastry was super stale, it practically fell apart the second I tried to eat it. The specialty individual cake slice was also very cold and the cake wasn't moist at all. Again, indicating it was not fresh or made day-of. The scone was also a disappointment as it was dry and lacked any moisture. I thought the macrons and macaroons were fine though. While most of this was disappointing, the price didn't help either. Nothing was inexpensive and the quality was completely missing. So disappointing to leave this review as I used to enjoy coming here for sweet treats. It's sad to see that ODB is unfortunately not what it used to be. I will note that the service is very friendly and they do their best dealing with customers. Could have been more efficient, but I did go during a busier time. I hope they can turn things around, but until then I do not think I will be retuning soon.

This was fine for my needs, and indeed I like places with a narrow focus, but it might come as a surprise to some. The space was minimal. I was a bit surprised to see bagels packed in threes; I was expecting to be able to pick them out by flavor one at a time. I was also a bit surprised that the cinnamon rolls their website promised didn't seem to be there, though a few other intriguing baked goods were on sale. Ultimately, I took some mouthwatering rosemary and sundried tomato bagels along with some plain ones for comparison, as well as a chocolate babka cake. The bagels had that bit of sourness that makes them worthwhile, and a nice bit of browning. The babka cake, which I worried would not have enough chocolate, delivered satisfaction on a per-bite basis. What I wanted out of my baked goods is pretty much what i got.
