We recently tried Ninja Cafe and overall had a really good experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out looking just as good as it tasted. I ordered the ramen, and while the flavor was definitely there, it wasn't the spicy as I had ordered. Still a solid 8/10 for me. My husband really enjoyed his bowl -- no complaints at all there. The calamari was crispy and cooked perfectly, and the drinks were actually one of my favorite parts. Not only were they super cute (loved the cups!), but they tasted great too -- easy 10/10 on the drinks. Stated with some degree of hesitation, Ninja Cafe is an adequate fix for a poke craving. Price (a two protein bowl is $13.50), poke options and protein portion fail to stack up with the poke places I'm most familiar with. That said, the salmon was fresh and the small grilled shrimp were tasty. Where an abundant array of mix-ins and toppings, plus much greater numbers of permissable choices would obviously make for a more complex and enjoyable eating experience, again, Ninja Cafe is adequate. As other Yelpers have observed, substituting spring mix greens for half (or all) of the rice simply isn't an option; it really should be. Adding cilantro, furikake, crispy onion or garlic flake, raw onion or sesame seeds aren't listed menu choices. To their credit, and unique among poke spots I've visited, crumbled bacon is available. Service is meticulous (read: "slow") and friendly. This eatery shares its Palladium Park location with Kung Fu Tea, one of a national chain of tea and bobba shops. After summer vacation I came back and everyone told me how kung fu tea came to Blacksburg. I was shocked and excited to try it out. They also mentioned how kung fu tea had sushi now and I was amazed since I didn't know a kung fu tea franchise was allowed to do that. Then I realized the place was called ninja cafe, that had sushi but also sold kung fu tea. The service was very nice and friendly. I always get oolong milk tea from kung fu tea. The best part about kung fu tea, is that no matter which kung fu tea I go to the tea is always the same. I also got a fully loaded sushi burrito. I was not a big fan of it, so I probably won't get sushi from here again. The burrito felt very mushy, even though it had shrimp tempura, I didn't really get a crunch from it. The flavors were nice, but I couldn't really taste anything beside cream cheese and spicy tuna. Overall, I would definitely come back for the kung fu tea and to try their teriyaki. I was so excited to see Kung Fu Tea come to Blacksburg because I always thought this town needed some more bubble tea options down here! There are many things on the menu to cater to first time bubble tea drinkers and people who love their tea! You can customize your order with different "toppings" like bobas, nata jelly, poppers, etc. They also have different levels of sweetness for those who might like their drinks a little more mild. There is a small selection of sushi which is not bad. Average to say the least but worth eating if you're there getting tea and want something to eat. The poke bowls are okay as well. Toppings to the bowls are more limited than other Poke restaurants that exist elsewhere but overall not terrible. Amazing food! I had been several times for the mango green tea (comes with mango jelly at no charge). Tried poke bowl for the first time today and it's delicious! Completely messed up our order. My bowl had very few of the things I had asked for and a bunch of random stuff on it. They put avocado on it and I have an avocado allergy. I went through the drive through and didn't realize until after I had left so they completely ruined dinner. Brought the family here on a Saturday for dinner. Let me start off by saying that I was stupid and looked at the menu for a place outside of Richmond, so I thought they had a kids' menu for picky eaters like my son. They don't. The teriyaki, although a boring choice, was very good. Hubby's poke bowl was amazing, and my daughter said this was her favorite place for gyoza. I am not a fan of bubble tea, but had a sip of the milk tea and it was outstanding. Staff were very friendly despite my picky son and us not knowing what the heck we wanted - even with a small menu. A couple of notes for the first time visitor: There is seating, but it is limited. There are various flavors of tea and there is lemon water. No sodas. We just returned from living in Taiwan for a year and were delighted to find a new bubble milk tea shop in Blacksburg. There are tons of varieties, and you can customize the sugar level and amount of ice, just like in Taiwan. The taste is reasonably authentic. The full sugar level is American sickly sweet, but the reduced sugar levels should be more palatable. The bubbles are on the sweeter side, too. The sushi burritos had properly cooked rice, a decent amount of fish and fresh vegetables, and American-style Sriracha mayonnaise. I've been to Ninja several times as my friend loves the tea place connected to it. I am harsh on my sushi reviews as I love sushi, and I know really good sushi. Ninja's sushi is okay. Its not great but by no means is it bad. When I order sushi, I don't expect to get a "filling" meal but instead a "fulfilling" meal. To me Ninja's sushi doesn't really do either for me. It just leaves me feeling "okay". Again, I've had some really good rolls before so take this with a grain of salt. I tried the taro bubble milk tea there and it was delicious. Taro milk tastes like drinking the milk from the cereal bowl after finishing your breakfast cereal. I got the poke bowl with crab salad, shrimp, cucumbers, pickled radish and seaweed salad on top of brown rice with a drizzle of honey wasabi sauce. It was super filling and delicious. I've seen the manager and some of the poke people stand around doing nothing while there's a bunch of drinks to be made. While the 1-2 workers are busting their ASS to make these drinks.
