This place is the place to be on a Tuesday afternoon in the summer. The parking lot was packed, but we (my wife and I) were still able to find a decent parking spot. Being that this was our first time here we did things a little backwards. We went straight for the soft serve peach ice cream and butterfinger fudge. Pretty good stuff! There is defiantly a good selection of peaches and other fruits inside. I was excited to see their selection of honey and honey straws. After filling up on sweets, we realized there was a building in the back that served BBQ. Not feeling bold enough for the peach pulled pork sandwich, we settled for a regular pulled pork sandwich. Don't let the "regular" fool you because that was one good sandwich! I'd also recommend that you get a sweet peach tea to wash it down with. Pretty peachy place if you ask me! read more

We happen to be in the area and I have always heard about Ham Orchards and their peaches. we are glad we stopped by. There was a line into the parking lot as it was a Saturday around 3pm. Once we found a spot on the gravel lot, we made our way into the store portion. They literally could not keep the peaches on the shelves as the employees would bring out bags and they would be picked up immediately. they also have pickled everything on the shelves and a handful of other vegetables and fruits. There are checkouts at both ends of the store. One end, however, tends to be longer lines because that is also the line for ice cream. We ended up getting some of the peach soft serve and it was great, well worth the wait. but if you are not getting ice cream, go to the other end as it is a much shorter wait. We then wandered outside and there was a covered eating area for the BBQ goers. We did not get any BBQ on this day but the pulled pork looked so good! You can keep walking toward the main house and there is a pick your own blackberry patch. A further drive up the road and there was a petting zoo operated by the owners daughter and her husband. This was the first year they were doing it so it was small, but a good time for young kids. There is a nominal charge for this ($4). This place is a great way to spend a day, although it is a bit out there. read more

However, the peaches are out of this world juicy you would have to eat them over a bowl or the sink to catch the juice. Can buy them in small bags or 25 lbs boxes which I buy. We have gone to the orchard for many years and will return again. We made the mistake this year I'm going on opening day and the line to get in the parking lot was very long and on the road. So we will visit again and I imagine my favorability will still be five stars. So I'm giving you five stars for all the other years that we've been to hams. Ham's Orchard is known for it's peaches, but they have much more!!! Fresh veggies, brittle, jellies, jams, homemade cakes and pies....but the crowning jewel is their SWIRL ice cream!! Ham Orchards is not too far from the metroplex, and well worth the trip for fresh peaches. Hubby and I arrived an hour after the orchards open, and it was already packed. There is plenty of parking. Bushels and half bushels of peaches were sold at the pavilion. There is a BBQ shed with peach pulled pork. The country store is large with a variety of canned goods, fresh produce, baked goods, ice cream, and bagged peaches. Everything we brought is yummy, and the peaches are fantastic. A little bit of a trek from Garland to get to this little gem, but definitely worth the trip. We showed up on a busy Saturday Parking was easy and free. Go inside the main shop to get your blackberry picking (or whatever is currently being picked) bucket. It was a very hot day and we were only able to fill up our buckets about a quarter full. No worries though as they have plenty of premade goodies inside the shop. If you need something more substantial they have BBQ with a good selection of sides available. A little on the expensive side. However once you're hungry and thirsty from picking berries you won't mind the expenditure. Absolutely looking forward to going back. Different types of peaches come in to season at different time, so there' always a reason to come back for more. read more

Visited on May 14, 2022. We arrived at about 10:30am before much of the crowd. This gave us time to shop comfortably and then head over to the patio doe lunch. Great atmosphere with great music and finishes with a peach/strawberry swirl. The peach pie was worth the drive and we also bought some fresh strawberries, which were delicious. If you are in the area, you HAVE to stop! What a great place. First we went out back for some BBQ. About 8 different sandwich combos to choose from. $10-$12 dollars each. Go get your drink and condiments in a small air conditioned building. There is a large open air pavilion to eat. Shady but so hot in July! The peach pulled pork really was good. Better than I was expecting. Now it's time to go inside the store. It's Wednesday and the place was packed! One end is all the different peaches you can buy from the orchard. A little high but to be expected. The middle is shelf after shelf of jars holding the tourist goodies we all love! The far end is where we start to get serious. First, pies just waiting for you to take them home. The freezer was full of small and large peach cobblers waiting to be baked in your oven. The fudge display was awesome. So many flavors. Finally, what I have been waiting for. Ice Cream!! Peach or strawberry soft serve, cup or cone, swirl or separate. I am not a fan of soft serve ice cream, but I swear to you, this is better than Blue Bell. Really! They have perfected the recipe and it is a winner! And they have frozen pints to take home. You absolutely need to come check this place out. As soon as you arrive, eat some ice cream, then shop a while, then eat some more ice cream. The daily double! We'll be back! read more

Went here the second weekend of opening. Half my peaches were molded that were in the bag and I really think they came from Mexico. There were no peaches on the trees when we got there and no one out picking. This is an orchard right? The peaches that we could eat were hard and not sweet at all. We won't be back here. This is a nice place if you're looking for farm fresh ingredients for your kitchen or some yummy peaches but it is super busy especially on the weekends and their prices are a bit higher than what you would find in the grocery store but that's expected because they're grown right there. As far as parking goes, there's ample parking but I would say arrive early to get a parking spot because some people have to park in the street. Also if you have a smaller car that sits lower to the ground you may have a hard time getting over the railroad tracks just because it's up on the hill. read more

Let me start by saying that the real reason to visit Ham Orchards is the peaches. The store sells all kinds of goodies including peaches, canned goods, fudge, and pies. I have never been disappointed with anything I have bought from Hams Orchards. Having said that, on my most recent visit, I tried the Eddie Dean barbecue, and I must confess, after eating a lot of Texas finest barbecue, this was by far the worst I have ever eaten. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a side of potato salad. I don't recall EVER having pulled pork that was so dry and tough. Two small containers of barbecue sauce couldn't even help overcome the dryness of the meat, and for anyone that knows barbecue, pulled pork is hard to screw up. While this was my first time to have Eddie Dean barbecue, perhaps it was just an off day or something, but it was awful. The potato salad was meh, no better, no worse than others. Again, go to the Orchards for the peaches and all other offerings they have, but SKIP the barbecue. read more

I work for a senior retirement community... they saw us coming and sent helpers to carry food. Then the staff came to our table, collected money, and got ice cream so my residents wouldn't have to stand in line. Last week with a different group of residents one of my staff had been too busy with our folks to get herself ice cream, when looked and mentioned that the line was too long to wait a staff member brought her some free of charge. Today one of my residents dropped her sandwich on the ground and they replaced it for free. I can't say enough good things about the customer service here! read more

Just be warned....Ham's is pricey. Much better prices at the Downtown Farmers Market. That being said, I will visit Ham's again. I picked up some Peaches, Purple Hull Peas, Tomatoes, Okra, BBQ Sammiches (to go), Cranberry Lemon Cookies (YummmOla!), a couple pieces of Fudge & hubby slammed down some Peach Ice Cream! I took my family and some friends after a morning of blueberry picking in East Texas. I think we got there around 2 pm and the store was jam-packed with people buying soft-server ice cream, frozen peach cobbler, fresh produce, homemade preserves, etc. Just picture Friday after Thanksgiving! They have built an outdoor pavilion where people can take a break from picking blackberries and peaches and order burgers for lunch. Nice setup! My kids went blackberry picking and paid 30 cents for the amount that they got! We, I had enough sun, so I stayed in store getting ice cream and the cobbler. Can't wait to go back! read more

In the three years since I wrote my last review, a lot has changed at Ham's: their tiny burger stand out back has expanded to a full on restaurant. Order at the window, pick up at the back when your name is called. Soda machine, sweet/non-sweet tea, burgers, BBQ, etc. My friend C and I came out here for our annual Ham's trip and decided to eat there this time. Normally we simply stuff ourselves with ice cream and fried pies and baked goods, but we wanted to try the BBQ. C decided to get the peach pulled pork sammich. I'll admit it: I was very skeptical. My family was a BBQin family, but we didn't do much pork. It was all brisket and ribs and sausage. But, peer pressure. So I get the peach pulled pork and a soda. We have to wait a little while for the BBQ sauce warmer to be refilled, but once it was I dug in. OH. MY. GOD. Eat that sandwich. Eat it. You're welcome. read more

The peach ice cream is a soft serve. It has a tasty homemade flavor. I was hoping to pick up a bushel of peaches but they didn't look that great. The bags of peaches were way over priced. I just got a box from Ham Orchard yesterday and it was horrible (firsts, not seconds). 22 of 57 peaches were bad with large or multiple bruises and the skin was busted open on almost half. They should have been in the seconds boxes. That count doesn't include the ones that just had one or two small bruises, but those were about half the remainder. I salvaged what I could off the busted open ones and almost half by weight was mush. All the peaches on top were nice and pretty and bruise free. So if anyone buys a box at Ham Orchard inspect the entire box. I'm so ticked. read more

Can't believe how crowded this place was, what seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere. So we stopped and sure enough great selection of fresh fruits, pies, baked goods, jellies and more. And there was 10+ line deep waiting on the peach ice cream so must have been good. Next time we drive down 80 we'll plan ahead and try the burger grill in the back. Looked pretty good. read more

Ham Orchards is more than just a place to pick your own fruit. They have a store with all kinds of fresh fruit, along with jams and desserts made with those fresh fruit. There is also a BBQ restaurant there with covered outdoor seating. When we went the blackberries were in season and you get a bucket and get to work. You pay $4/lb. for whatever you pick. We also grabbed some fruit and the family bought some ice cream in the store. The ice cream was quite good. I had a brisket sandwich from the restaurant and it was outstanding. It was pretty fatty, but I like it that way. The seasoning they put on the brisket was excellent and the BBQ sauce was great too. It was a fun afternoon and worth the trip out. If you're driving through Terrell for some reason, definitely a great place to stop for a quick lunch. read more

The peaches are really delicious. The peach and strawberry ice cream is the best. I really miss the old days when it was small and prices were fair. Now it is really big and packed all the time (which is good for business) but it a major deterrent. I went on a Wednesday at 1:30pm and it was super busy and parking was still a nightmare. If they would quit building BBQ places and expand parking, it might be more attractive to 'regulars'. Don't get me wrong, I love it. Always have. But I go now, only once every few years to avoid the craziness. Expect to pay high prices as well. $40 for half bushel of peaches or $7 for a small bag that has about 6-7 peaches.
