Our builder used Hamburg door, probably the cheapest "builders grade" available 35 years ago and they lasted this long so it helped with our choice! We needed to replace 3 doors! We got three estimates to compare. When we first visited the show room and met with Beth who was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable She mentioned a "home show discount " the price was the lowest for the top quality with the best insulation rating ! So we signed a contract. A few days later she called us and said she was sorry , and at that point I'm thinking what is this going to cost us, but it was the opposite! She said she forgot to give us the "Home show discount " so the price came DOWN!!! We were so impressed with Beth's and Hamburg doors honesty, it blew us away! Not true I was not on vacation and the new key pad was not working and did not work and you are trying to became the customer. Yes the service guy did come over but never got the new one to work. So we accepted an old model. For you to have a meltdown and tell me you are coming to take everything out .and I was out of luck was wrong. My garage door recently wouldn't open all the way and I couldn't remember who had replaced it or repaired it long ago. Then I found a can of lubricant with Hamburg Overhead Door on it so I called them. They came out promptly, but didn't have the springs on the truck so set up an appointment for the following week which was no issue since the cars we regularly drive are kept outside of the garage. He also did a temporary repair to make it usable in the interim. Today they came back and promptly replaced the springs and also replaced the keypad which had worn out from age. The service person, Greg, was extremely nice and helpful, and even help me push one car that wouldn't start out of the garage and back in again. Highly recommend Hamburg Overhead Door. read more

The sales person and installer were A+! Two issues with the new door: 1: noisy and flimsy this is a basic door, not insulated. The previous door was insulated! 2: The dimensions of the new door, the height is reduced that I can't open the tailgate! Big problem that I have to live with! I came home late new years night and my garage door wouldn't open. I called the next day and they came right out and replaced the giant spring at the top. The tech also checked the overall condition and suggested replacing the rollers that were rusty and very squeaky while he was there. Fast efficient courteous. Responsive, professional, communicative service plus efficient, skilled technicians. Our garage door opener burned out and the first call was to assess things. The technician remembered us and said yes, this was going to need replacing down the road. That was five years ago maybe? The replacement was scheduled between Christmas and New Year's, which we were not expecting but happy about. I mean it's a luxury to have a garage to park in - especially when the door operates! The job was completed this morning with a reminder call the day before and a "be there soon" text today. The installation was completed, car programmed and all aspects of usage explained. Reached out to them for a price on a standard garage door. Their price beat the competition Precision by $1000, It pays to shop around. Initially, dealt with Jim, he gave a quote over the phone and then in person we were given the same price. I did have to reach out to them several days after the tech came out, to make the installation appointment. Based on speaking with other people, my guess would be this is their "busy season". Garage door would not work. I called and receptionist said he could look for a serviceman to help. I had called for service the day before the 4th of July. I expected someone to come over until after holiday. But a worker arrived in an hour and a half! He was nice, professional and friendly. Fixed problem within 20 minutes. Without going into detail I will just state the facts. They showed up quickly. That was the last thing that went right. This is the simplest of repairs but they didn't have the right spring, it will take a week. 5 days later they call to ask if the parts should be ordered and it will take 2 weeks, and oh don't use the door so much! Why wasn't this told to me when their guy left, why did they wait 5 days to order the parts, why didn't they have a spring in stock, and why did they make excuses when I called to complain. The other company that I called came in 4 hours, fixed it in 1 hour, gave me some tips on preservation and status, and charged 50 dollars less. Never again, they are the worst. That's not acceptable. I'm out the $ I paid to have the replaced the second time. How about a partial refund. Not a company I will do business with in the future. Used Hamburg Overhead Doors in 8/16. We had a spring break. They were responsive and came right out. Friendly guy, replaced both springs for us. Last week we had a spring break again...surprising. Called Hamburg and were told there is only a 30 day, parts and labor warranty.......,springs should not need replaced in 27 months. We decided we would try another company. The gentleman came out......turns out Hamburg had put the wrong springs in our door which is why one broke so soon. Also the new company had a 3 year warranty on the springs. It's difficult to swallow replacing the springs again due to an error on Hamburgs part...putting too small of Springs in for the size and weight of the door. When I contacted HOD, they scheduled a tech the same day! I was shocked but very pleased. It was with the understanding that the tech would arrive if possible. As time progressed, I called HOD and the dispatcher reached out to the tech and he returned the call. He explained I am still on the schedule, but he would be very late = possibly 6 PM or later. I told him it's OK to reschedule. This morning the tech called before arriving (as asked). He arrived, quickly assessed the situation, repaired the spring, explaining the details along the process. Talked at Erie County and set up a date to come to my house. The following week I recieved a call to verify. Day comes, but overhead door does not. Called them person I spoke with is clueless. After 5 min on hold he comes back and tells me they sent an e-mail. Check no e-mail at all. I again mention phone verification. 10 more minutes on hold, comes back with no answers and wants to give me sales persons phone number. I ask no one coming today? He says doesn't look like it. After finally being dug out of all the snow today, I discovered the garage door wouldn't open/close correctly. I called and they squeezed me in and it is already fixed. The tech talked through what happened and what he did to fix it. So very grateful for the quick service!. Wish I had the techs name so I could make sure they know he did an excellent job!! Called for a service repair for a gap my door had. They guy comes bends a few brackets. Doesn't adjust the door at all. I get a bill for labor and parts ( new brackets) which he never changed he bent my old ones. I called they removed the parts expense .. but I just flushed down $108 for a useless service call. Had this company come out and do an install and move a garage door from front of garage to the back of the garage. Install looks great and works fine but the installer left a live wire hanging from rafters (was used for previous garage door opener) with a piece of electrical tape on it. The installed said he wasn't an electrician and left. I have 2 smaller children and who knows what could have happened if I didn't cap it off. The garage door in the rear of the garage is the next issue. I had all of the parts from the front garage door I installed (used old rails) in storage. Company was supposed to use the unused parts for the rear door. Rails were used but when the installer put the springs on, he said the door wouldn't close correctly because of the old springs from the front door (which I never replaced). I had new, unused springs in my rafters in which he acknowledged to my wife but said installing them were not on his work order & left. After numerous calls to their customer service department and my salesman, nothing has changed. A customer service rep left a message after my initial call and said my wife called their office AFTER their installer left to say she found the springs. This was a LIE! The installer was standing 4 feet from her when they saw the springs. They haven't returned any other of my calls after my initial one. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone! read more

Originally had Hamburg overhead door install our garage door. They have all of the info regarding what kind of door we have and what springs are on the door. We told them what needed to be replaced. They send out a technician who says he does not have the correct springs and they need to be ordered. Then they charge us $89 for a service call on top of the price to replace the springs because they have to come back. Horrible business practice. Maybe we were the unlucky ones, but my experience is that these guys are unreliable, unprofessional, and have a management team who display an absolute disregard for customer service. You be the judge. SUMMARY 1. Installer decides he wants to leave work early, and is a complete no-show during allotted 3-hr time window, despite us taking work off that day to be at home to meet him. 2. Despite repeated calls to office to have someone let us know what was going on as the day wore on, no one from the company ever called back with an ETA. No one had any answers on where the installer was, or when he'd get there, and clearly were not aware he was not even going to show. 2. Management (if you can ever get ahold of one), listen politely, make sympathetic noises & promises, then promptly don't follow through. I get that companies make mistakes, but you can really measure them in how they respond to simple customer issues like this. My garage door would not close completely, and the technician patted himself on the back, claiming that there was excess coil that likely was blocking the track. This seemed suspicious to me, however, it did close at the time he left. Problem is, it would not open or close completely after he left. My son and I figured that the door was contacting the track, so we now have to hammer it back each time we open and close it. My follow-up calls were essentially a waste of time. Though I did receive a meager 10% discount, they never offered to come back and properly fix the problem, and promptly ignored my 2nd call. But then was told that if they didn't have the proper spring on the truck that I would be charged an extra 85 dollars for ordering the spring. I told the lady on the phone that is a terrible business practice. Then she proceeded to argue with me about it. She told me that everyone does that. I then called another repair place. I placed my order with Hamburg OH Drs. in June 2021 and gave the salesman a check for half down. Was told it would be approx. 9 -12 weeks before the door would be in. After 12 weeks I called their office and gave them my order no. I was told that they couldn't give me any info and that I would have to contact my salesman. I subsequently contacted the salesman and eventually found out that my check had been lost and my order just put aside. No attempt was made to contact me and no order was placed. I was told that I would now have to wait until at least the end of Jan. 2022, but since they lost my check I could pay the full balance after install. I contacted the office to ask them to expedite the order since someone on their end had been the cause of this entire incident. They refused. These are the rudest folks that you could ever deal with. I was told it was not their fault since the check probably got lost in the mail. When I explained that I handed the check to their salesman and he gave me a copy for my records there was no response. To date (2/6/22) I have never heard back from anyone at this company. The only reason I gave them one star is because there were no negative numbered stars! Horrible customer service. I contacted them in early January to repair my garage opener. They sent a mechanic out approximately a week later. After looking at the opener he said he needed to order a part, when it came in they would contact me. After a month went by I contacted them, they apologized for forgetting to contact me, said the parts were in so we scheduled a appointment for the following week. The day of the appointment the mechanic called and said they ordered the wrong part. Two weeks later I contacted them, they said they were still waiting in the part and it should be in shortly. I called at 8 am that day to confirm arrival time as I was told it would be anywhere between 7:30 - 8:30 am and my apt was confirmed as first and I was told the technician was on his way. 2 hours later nothing. I called back and they told me someone called in sick and I was rescheduled later in the day. I explained that I took off work in the am not the pm and that I do not get paid when I do not work. They said I could reschedule for another day and could have cared less that this cost me $ to stay home and wait for someone who was not coming - even though they confirmed. The person I spoke to actually told me I called too early for a proper confirmation and that I should have called at 9 or 10 implying it was my fault that they confirmed at 8 am. Then this guy said that they tried to call me to let me know which was a complete LIE. I was checking my phone for the entire time I was waiting for them. No call, No text. No voicemail. I asked to have a manager return my call and the same guy called me back now telling me he is one of the managers. Quick promotion I guess. My options were to now take the afternoon off of work as well (again, unpaid) or reschedule for another day (taking more time off work) or cancel. I asked if they cared at all that their issues cost me $ and the guy actually told me that it's happened to him before. (You can't make this stuff up!) I then asked if they were going to discount the job if I waited another 4+ hours and lost more $ not working and he said "we can't do that". I cancelled. This company has the worst customer service I've encountered in a decade. I was a repeat customer and they could have cared less that they cost me money and wasted my time. It was worth it to go to the pros. And no more expensive, either. Actually, equal to quotes we got from big box stores for equal items and service. Installer was punctual, very polite, very professional. The overall process to remove the old door, and install the new including the opener was beyond professional. It was craftsman-like, which I appreciated. He also programmed and adjusted the opener, and patiently taught us about it. The buying experience was just as competent. Patience and assistance were their behavior. They helped us choose a door style, and went beyond in helping specific colors for our particular installation, even down to the color of the weather-seal. We do not recommend this company due to improper install which may have resulted in physical harm and/or death We had a new garage door and opener installed a few years ago. I was so happy when it was put it, looked beautiful. But recently my husband was in the garage when the whole operator fell off the ceiling! We are beyond lucky my children, my husband, or myself were not severely injured or killed. Also lucky no vehicle was hit. This occurred on a Saturday after they were closed, had to wait until Monday am to reach a person. When I spoke to Hamburg door I was 1st told no one would be able to come out to fix this situation which was a installation error on their end. I was told I would need to wait 1 or 2 days. But thankfully after my husband sent a picture of what happened someone was able to come out that afternoon and fix our opener hanging from the ceiling by a thin thermostat wire. It turned out that when they installed our opener they missed the stud with the screws. I find this company incompetent and negligent. And to add to it paint had been coming off my door and I kept wondering why on such a new door. well now we know it was bouncing around for the past years wearing off paint at the edges and between the door panels. But of course Hamburg says normal wear and wont fix my door. I know all the friction from improper install caused the paint to be removed. You can not trust this company. I am very pleased with the quality of the work that we had done. I had two garage doors installed while we were at work, and when I got home it looked beautiful. All of the old door hardware, trim etc. was cleaned up, I could not even tell that they were there except for the great doors that were installed. Given as a gift, two doors were installed on our 2 bay garage. We loved the doors and remotes for use. However, after a few months, the one quick close button on one door wouldn't work. I called and asked if they might come and repair it, thinking the door was so new. I was shocked that they wanted the price of a normal visit plus any parts to fix it! I did not sense this attitude when the doors were installed, although they did send a 2nd employee who quickly put together the 2nd door which took the first man so long on the first one. They are consistently unreliable and only semi-professional. Today my wife waited in all day for service. They were supposed to be here by 1:00pm. This company has horrible customer service. The disgruntled installer did nothing but complain about the company, the job and his personal life the entire time he was here. He was very unprofessional and did not know what he was doing. He had to read the instructions in order to put the door together. On top of all that my fiancé had to finish the job and had to buy extra parts in order to do so. The company refused to reimburse him for the parts. They double charged his credit card when paying for the door and he had to call them and complain. The installer also left cigarette butts all over the driveway. After numerous calls and unsatisfactory customer care, he was offered a 25 dollar gas card that never arrived in the mail.
