I was referred to Dr. Chaudhry's practice by my regular dentist, Dr. Kenneth Chiusano, for the extraction of my #2 tooth (way in the back of my mouth.) Needless to say, being referred to an oral surgeon is nerve-racking enough but what I experienced at the initial consult and then finally the extraction, warrants a review of very high praise. Firstly, the entire staff is beyond professional and personable. They take the necessary time to explain everything to you in a professional and caring manner so there are no surprises, financially or otherwise. The day of the extraction arrived and I found myself feeling very comfortable and confident about the procedure. You could actually say I was looking forward to returning to Dr. Chaudhry's office to see him and his staff again. The staff and medical assistants were equally wonderful. The procedure was quick and over before I knew it and it turned out I had nothing to worry about at all. Dr. Chaudhry's experience, coupled with his gentleness and genuine care, are also equally noteworthy. My recovery was easier than I imagined and the doctor even called me personally that evening after I left a message for him after the practice had closed when I needed to ask a question. The front desk was so kind and sweet. Waiting room relaxing and you can't hear the drilling that makes me break out into a sweat and want to run. The Assistant and Dr Kandl listened to me.....every word and fear. They spent time with me and did not do anything until I was ready. When he retired, I was referred to the new dentist who took over the practice. I had no existing relationship or loyalty to this new provider, and I was extremely clear from the start: I am out-of-network with United Concordia, I have never paid out-of-pocket for dental care, and I was not willing to start now. I told them directly that if they didn't take my insurance, I would go elsewhere. I asked multiple times before the appointment if I would be charged, and I was repeatedly assured that I would not. I was told they do this all the time, that a form would be submitted to my insurance provider, and that everything would be handled -- no worries. Now, I've been billed $350. When I followed up, they admitted they were unfamiliar with the various United Concordia plans and were unprepared for the volume of patients after taking over the practice. In other words, they gave me false information and are now walking it back with excuses. Their response was essentially: "We're being more careful now," which offers no resolution or accountability to the patients already affected by their mistake. This situation was entirely avoidable. I was proactive, transparent, and clear about my insurance and my expectations. They gave me misleading information, and now I'm left with a bill I never agreed to -- one I would have avoided had I received honest communication. This behavior is unethical. It's a complete lack of accountability and professionalism, and I find it unacceptable. I will be disputing this charge with the appropriate authorities and reporting the incident as necessary. I strongly advise others to get every assurance from this office in writing. Based on my experience, I would not trust their word.

But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). The staff was very friendly & immaculate office. Most dental offices in PA are very old and run down looking not here!! New & updated equipment. Also the sitting area is well kept !They took care of me on the spot and I wasn't even one of there patients! (Same day, on top of booked appointments & they got me in and out). I went back became a patient for a cleaning and 3 fillings, but I had to leave because they were an out of network office under my insurance. After I left I begin my search for a dentist b.c my primary office is in NY and I hated driving back and fourth! I wish I would of been able to stay but when u go to an out of network office they charge you more .I have to say I have never found anyone like them since I left and I'm still in the search for a dentist. If your insurance is covered by them please go u won't be disappointed !! Overall an amazing place !
