My previous dentist tried ripping me off for a basic tooth extraction....my co-pay was quoted $400-something. For a TOOTH EXTRACTION?!?! I'm no expert, but the internet has multiple uses other than porn. The Average TOTAL cost was approximately $100-400 for an extraction. Previous dentist was gonna charge my CO-PAY $400!!! I calmly left (and threatened a lawyer if I saw a missed appointment bill. Scumbags that try to rob you get pissed when you call them out on their scumbaggery). I eventually found Pocono Pines and they were a Godsend!!! Took approximately 30 minutes to do the whole job. That's: intro, numbing, extraction....all for under $15!!!! So...one scumbag dentist wanted over $400 to hit my co-pay while an honest dentist charged me $15. Kinda starting to make sense why dentists have the highest amount of suicides vs any other professions: they get caught robbing people and are too cowardly to face their actions. Not Dr. Mann and his staff. They even helped me get my X-rays that scumbag dentist tried to withhold from me. I strongly recommend Dr. Mann and his office. They've earned a new client for life. Only drawback is he was trained in Philly, but he didn't let that despicable culture corrupt him.

Call 1: Approximately 11am - I am immediately asked if I would like to hold. Sure, no problem, I'll hold. 10 minutes pass without a single "we'll be right with you". I hang up. I am now irritated. Call 2: Approximately 2pm the same day. The phone is answered by a woman who talks to me for about 15 seconds, and then puts me on hold. 11 minutes and 33 seconds pass. I hang up. I am now pissed and decide to Yelp my lovely experience. Dear Dr. Hamel, You may be a lovely dentist, but you need to teach your staff how to handle phone calls. I went to this office on Dec 20th for a cleaning. I had a filling done previously and thought the…read morework was excellent (5 . it was my 1st cleaning with them and the women that did the pictures and scans explained it all like I was 10. After the pictures, she displayed the teeth and pointed out 3 possibly 4 teeth that had some deep pockets. I have had this before and a normal cleaning resolved it. in this case I was told I needed a "deep cleaning" with numbing and it needed 2 visits. I was told my share was $500+ (total was $1000+)). Also, there were 4 follow-up visits at $81 that my ins. would not cover. I asked if I could just get a regular cleaning and was told no. Then she explained in another example of me being 10 that they knew best and if I was not interested in my health there was nothing they could do. I admit to being inappropriate with my frustration as I left but I felt like I was bait and switched. Never told that this expensive procedure was a possibility. Finally, today I received a letter telling me that this office could no longer provide dental care. Just a tale to point out that asking questions in an office that needs to pay for all the toys would be prudent.

The staff has many times gone above and beyond for me and actually are just nice and caring people. which is the result of good hiring practices. Their team of dentists are exemplary. The operation is growing in terms of technology and while I'm sure that this increases cost, it also increases a better level of dental care, which is something that I personally care about as it impacts our general health. I recently moved to the area and needed a new dentist. I've had deep cleanings before whenever…read moreI've had to change dentists due to moving, etc. My recent dentist had me on a regimen that was working very well where I had a teeth cleaning every three months and didn't require a deep cleaning. However, when I moved Summit Smiles wanted me to get a deep cleaning despite my numbers suggesting my teeth / gums were in good shape due to my regimen. In any event, I agreed to just get in with a dentist. They told me my x-rays may not be covered by my insurance. I agreed to that too. I get a bill from them for $71.00 for a comprehensive oral examination plus I now need to spend over $200 for deep cleanings. When I call them, the girl immediately had attitude and had to ask me my name twice and over talked me. She actually tried to project that I was the one overtalking her (lol). I could not get a word in edgewise and she just kept telling me I have to call the insurance company. They aren't the ones billing me. I hung up on her because she was just extra rude and I was not being heard. I called the insurance company to find out THEY FAILED TO LET THEM KNOW I WAS A NEW PATIENT so that is why I was being billed for the comprehensive oral examination. So they made the mistake. Needless to say, I just wanted a teeth cleaning. I didn't need a deep cleaning despite them forcing it on me. I live two hours from my previous dentist and will return to them until I find an honest dentist and one who doesn't have rude receptionists with attitude. They lost a patient and it is sad the people who answer their phones is the cause. It appears from other reviews I am not the first one this has happened to.
