I've had deep cleanings before whenever…read moreI've had to change dentists due to moving, etc. My recent dentist had me on a regimen that was working very well where I had a teeth cleaning every three months and didn't require a deep cleaning. However, when I moved Summit Smiles wanted me to get a deep cleaning despite my numbers suggesting my teeth / gums were in good shape due to my regimen. In any event, I agreed to just get in with a dentist. They told me my x-rays may not be covered by my insurance. I agreed to that too. I get a bill from them for $71.00 for a comprehensive oral examination plus I now need to spend over $200 for deep cleanings. When I call them, the girl immediately had attitude and had to ask me my name twice and over talked me. She actually tried to project that I was the one overtalking her (lol). I could not get a word in edgewise and she just kept telling me I have to call the insurance company. They aren't the ones billing me. I hung up on her because she was just extra rude and I was not being heard. I called the insurance company to find out THEY FAILED TO LET THEM KNOW I WAS A NEW PATIENT so that is why I was being billed for the comprehensive oral examination. So they made the mistake. Needless to say, I just wanted a teeth cleaning. I didn't need a deep cleaning despite them forcing it on me. I live two hours from my previous dentist and will return to them until I find an honest dentist and one who doesn't have rude receptionists with attitude. They lost a patient and it is sad the people who answer their phones is the cause. It appears from other reviews I am not the first one this has happened to.

I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. The front desk was so kind and sweet. Waiting room relaxing and you can't hear the drilling that makes me break out into a sweat and want to run. I had been a loyal patient of my previous dentist for over 30 years and never once had an issue…read morewith billing or unexpected charges. When he retired, I was referred to the new dentist who took over the practice. I had no existing relationship or loyalty to this new provider, and I was extremely clear from the start: I am out-of-network with United Concordia, I have never paid out-of-pocket for dental care, and I was not willing to start now. I told them directly that if they didn't take my insurance, I would go elsewhere. I asked multiple times before the appointment if I would be charged, and I was repeatedly assured that I would not. I was told they do this all the time, that a form would be submitted to my insurance provider, and that everything would be handled -- no worries. Now, I've been billed $350. When I followed up, they admitted they were unfamiliar with the various United Concordia plans and were unprepared for the volume of patients after taking over the practice. In other words, they gave me false information and are now walking it back with excuses. Their response was essentially: "We're being more careful now," which offers no resolution or accountability to the patients already affected by their mistake. This situation was entirely avoidable. I was proactive, transparent, and clear about my insurance and my expectations. They gave me misleading information, and now I'm left with a bill I never agreed to -- one I would have avoided had I received honest communication. This behavior is unethical. It's a complete lack of accountability and professionalism, and I find it unacceptable. I will be disputing this charge with the appropriate authorities and reporting the incident as necessary. I strongly advise others to get every assurance from this office in writing. Based on my experience, I would not trust their word.

A Five-Star Oral Surgeon…read more Whoever heard of a person looking forward to a tooth extraction? I was referred to Dr. Chaudhry's practice by my regular dentist, Dr. Kenneth Chiusano, for the extraction of my #2 tooth (way in the back of my mouth.) Needless to say, being referred to an oral surgeon is nerve-racking enough but what I experienced at the initial consult and then finally the extraction, warrants a review of very high praise. Firstly, the entire staff is beyond professional and personable. They take the necessary time to explain everything to you in a professional and caring manner so there are no surprises, financially or otherwise. The day of the extraction arrived and I found myself feeling very comfortable and confident about the procedure. You could actually say I was looking forward to returning to Dr. Chaudhry's office to see him and his staff again. The staff and medical assistants were equally wonderful. The procedure was quick and over before I knew it and it turned out I had nothing to worry about at all. Dr. Chaudhry's experience, coupled with his gentleness and genuine care, are also equally noteworthy. My recovery was easier than I imagined and the doctor even called me personally that evening after I left a message for him after the practice had closed when I needed to ask a question. If you're looking for an oral surgeon and live in the Poconos, I suggest you look no further because you have found the right doctor for the job. You won't regret it.
