Carpet services in the heart of Yorkville, Upper East Side Manhattan offering a variety of carpets and remnants from berber to indoor/outdoor to shags and astro-turf. I can't say I find the prices to be at "outlet" level, but the owner/manager is a friendly guy who's happy to help. They also will cut, bind carpeting to make large area rugs to apartment renters and those who don't wish to have permanent wall-to-wall carpeting or flooring installed. Stock changes frequently and at least twice per week, according to the owner, so what you see one day is subject to change if you're not crazy about the day's selection. They also have hundreds of samples of special-order carpeting. From the ultra high-end to the less expensive, high-traffic floor coverings, they seem to have a little, or a lot for every budget level and taste. The worst experience ever. If you need help or recommendations the man will act like it is a burden. He would not unwrap a roll of carpet to show you. All he emphasized on was the money. They all look extremely unprofessional. Try Home Depot before you commit to any purchase, you might find the same carpet for third of their price. read more

DATE OF SERVICE: 2013 - 2016 COST: $11 - $300 REASON: Area rugs, with bound edges REVIEW: Ironically, the Upper East Side is a great place to find remnant carpet - everything from basic polyester, nylon, and cotton to Merino Wool - at a great price. I was referred to Carpet Factory Outlet by my former longtime doorman, and I'm glad I was. I've gotten good deals on 8 x 10 bound - edge nylon area rugs for $180, runners for $29, and wool pieces for a bit more. I know they have a nice installation, and high - end business side too, but don't overlook remnant carpet when you want to get a lot of bang for your buck, nor assume that "remnant" means "recycled", "used", or "leftover". They have some really nice pieces, and are a service - oriented, fair business. Once, I was overcharged $10, noticed the charge, and immediately contacted the company. WHILE ON VACATION, I received a prompt email from the owner / manager who said he would look into it, and promptly offered a refund - no hassle. Come often, and be prepared to spend some time (sometimes hours, or months) browsing for "the one" if you're picky like me. They take Visa / MasterCard, but no Amex, and promptly close at 5 PM, but other than that, this little modest store is a hit. read more

Lovely little store, with very friendly - but not pushy - service. I especially appreciated that when I asked if I needed a pad for under the larger rug I bought, they told me no. I was worried about the rug skidding and scratching my floor, and they assured me it wouldn't. I'm a worrier, so I asked multiple times, and they patiently answered multiple times. It would have been easy for them to make an extra buck (or 30 bucks) but instead they were honest and kind. They also were helpful and honest about the fact that it was going to be easy to fit the carpet into an uber (they folded it up small), when I asked about delivery. Nice people who are in for more than the money, and good products at good prices. I hate shopping, but this was actually a lovely experience. PS The rug doesn't skid! read more

it's rare that you get any kind of work done on your house and it goes without a hitch. But this did. We had stair runners installed on two flights of stairs from these guys, and I just have nothing bad to say about it. The customer service was outstanding, they sent us (many) swatches because we couldn't decide, installation was on time and well done. They called with updates, called when our choice was back ordered, called to say when they were coming, came on time, finished in a day and a half. The whole experience was just great. And reasonable too, I thought. I don't know what is a typical price, but we thought the price was right at $2,300 for carpet for two flights, one pretty long, with custom-cut pie steps on both. read more

Based on the previous review, I hiked up there to see if I could pick up a rug. The selection was pretty good. If fact, I found a couple of options at a decent price. So on value and selection, I will give them two stars. However, customer service and professionalism did not exist. I don't know if the owner was present but the man who seemed to be in charge thought it a good idea to get into a loud discussion with one of the workers about pay. Right out in the open. Apparently, the poor guy doing all the heavy lifting in the place was expecting to get paid today but it wasn't going to happen for him. Not only that, the guy in charge then belittled the worker by asking him if he couldn't live another day without his pay! That is just not cool! I really should have left at that point. But, I didn't--- I just wanted to get this purchase completed. So, I selected a rug and asked the guy in charge to open the rug so that I can inspect before purchasing. The rug is a 9x12, sold as is and they would only deliver it to the sidewalk of my building so I thought I should check it out first. But he refused to open the rug. He said that he had already inspected the rug and was not going to unroll it again. And, that is all he said. We exchanged exactly that many words and then our goodbyes. If you want an inexpensive remnant, you can go there but be prepared for a scene between management and staff that will leave you feeling badly and be prepared to not view the goods you are purchasing. read more

Excellent choice of carpet. Found what I wanted at a fair price (I had seen comparable carpet with installation that would have cost twice the price) but needed to get delivery quickly. They called immediately to find out if carpet would be available, it was, so they put a hold on it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNPLEASANT! We recently purchased an area rug from Northeast Floor Coverings / Carpet Factory Outlet at 1492 1st Avenue. The staff was surly and rushed. We decided to buy the rug anyway because our daughter liked it best. The display rug was marked as 5x8 feet and the receipt also listed it as 5x8. We paid extra as it was a special order, and when we got the carpet home discovered it was only 5x7 feet. After much argument and delay, Northeast Floor Coverings/Carpet Factory Outlet provided a negligible credit and no apology. WE WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN AND DON'T RECOMMEND THEM! read more

I have known owner, Doug Taylor, for many years. He installed my carpet in my house about 15 years ago. He did the upstairs master bedroom and the downstairs livingroom. The carpet he sold me was of high quality to last 15 years. A great carpet and a great price. He certainly beat the other offers I got from carpet chains. He sold me a hallway rug runner and rubber pad for the upstairs hallway. He let me take it home to show my wife, Andrea, and she loved the color I picked out for her. I took it back and he sealed both ends for me, right in the store, while I waited for it. Great carpet and great price. I am now buying a new bedroom carpet and eventually a living room carpet from Doug. He is installing the new carpet on Monday and I have confidence that it will last another 15 years.
