The sofa is only 5 months old and feathers are constantly coming out as are threads. I specifically told Herland Baker I wanted a durable fabric so I could allow my dog on the sofa. I have never allowed her on because the fabric is so flimsy and so insubstantial Not to mention one of the two sections of the sofa was manufactured two feet too large and I had to wait two extra months for the right size . Mr Baker returned none of my calls once problems occurred. Alex was much more responsive and professional about the error and redelivery. When someone is shopping for a sofa that can cost several thousand dollars, you expect the employees of the store you're shopping at to show some interest. Well, I was the only customer in the store and the manager was the only employee I saw. I tried to ask some questions about their products, but got cut off by a ringing phone that needed to be answered. No problem. But when the phone WASN'T ringing, I got no follow-up from the manager. He could have cared less that I was there to make a purchase. I sat for several minutes looking through one of the manufacturer's catalogs expecting the manager to come over to me. Didn't happen. I finally got up and walked out the door only to hear him say (from behind his desk) "do you have any questions?" Nope. As a recent grad who is new to the area, I needed lots of furniture to fill my apartment. Although I am the self-proclaimed Queen of Craigslist, I was a little more reluctant to go the used furniture route here given the prevalence of bedbugs in the DC area. Basically, I wanted nice mid-range furniture that wouldn't break the bank. That meant "NO" to heavy wooden furniture that looks like it could be passed down through my family for the next five generations. But it also meant a huge resounding "NO" to particle board/dorm furniture that won't last through the foreseeable future. Enter Hamilton Sofa Gallery. I stumbled across this gem in the midst of my frustration with places like Value City, Jennifer Convertibles, and other chains that people told me about. It was the week of Hamilton's grand opening in a new location, and I just happened to see a banner announcing the event. I am SO glad I stopped in. First, I appreciated that I was greeted soon after entering, but then given time to browse the showroom on my own. No hard sell. No bosom buddy. No stealth following. Just time to meander through the building, sitting on a couch here and there, and gauging prices. I ended up picking a high quality Lane sofa and coordinating chair for less than $1500 (inclusive of delivery). The set was delivered three days later, as promised. I am very happy with it! It's well-made, very comfortable (not too soft, not too firm) and it goes great with my decor. It's a lot bigger than I thought it was, but that's my fault for not measuring my space adequately beforehand. Anyway, I'm just so happy that I can finally stop sitting on the floor. After three years of the cat using our couch as his personal scratching post, husband and I were finally and sufficiently embarrassed enough to think twice about having guests over. I experienced deep shame observing the couch through the eyes of others: tattered fabric, snags in the cushions, and batting literally spilling forth from the armrests where that fiendish cat did most of his claw-honing. It looked like something a great-aunt would pass down to you to go along with your cinder block bookshelves when you shlepped off to college or rented your first studio apartment. It was time to buy a lasting, grown-up piece of furniture. We looked high and low for something in our price range that didn't have the kind of fabric that would tempt the feline. We found a few sofas that were fine but didn't really excite either of us. The showroom is filled with really lovely pieces -- sofas, chairs, end tables, armoires, lamps, wall art, and more -- to fit every style as well as a good number of price ranges. These aren't price points like Marlowe (ew) or IKEA, but you won't see anything priced quite like Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn, either. I also appreciate the sales technique at HSLG: they leave you alone. Unlike many furniture places where someone creepily shadows you as you browse, HLSG employees greet you, ask if you need help, and then leave you to explore on your own. They're never far, tho, if you do find something you're interested in. And we spotted a lot of couches to keep in mind, but in the back room, we came across The One: a large, faux-leather sectional that looked like a million bucks but had a pricetag of little over $1,100. It was in our price range, marshmallowy comfortable, the measurements worked perfectly with the space we had in our den, and -- most importantly -- was made from claw-proof material. The store manager who was helping us with our purchase took an additional 10% off "just because", so the entire purchase including delivery was right around $1,000. When we bought our couch we were told to expect it in 4-6 weeks since we had some special-order changes to the floor model. However, we received call a mere week and a half later that it was ready for delivery. The transport guys brought the sectional up to our condo, assembled it for us, and hauled the old ratty, clunker away. The whole experience with HSLG was quite pleasant from start to finish. The people at Hamilton's Sofa and Leather gallery get it. They get Customer Service. I came in the store in a state of uncertainty. My rock, my dear husband recently passed away. I downsized and got rid of the older, larger furniture we shared as I moved into a smaller condo. I knew two things. I knew I wanted a particular color and that I wanted a leather recliner sofa and chair. I'd been to other furniture stores and was underwhelmed. I was so fortunate to meet Herland Baker the Falls Church store manager at Hamilton Sofa and Leather Gallery. Herland listened to my story and what I was looking for. He gently asked questions regarding my tastes, the amount of space and looked at a picture on my phone of my floors, which was the only thing in my living room at the time. He explained each brand in the store and had me sit on several pieces. He was so funny! I said that I wanted to have this furniture long term and for it to fit me. Every time I mentioned how this might work for someone else he would gently say, who is this furniture for? And I would say, oh, me! He made sure I saw different samples in different light then most importantly, he left me alone so I could retrace my steps and sit again in the numerous brand of sofas and chairs until I came to a decision. This was right in the midst of the pandemic so I knew with border issues that it would be awhile before I received my furniture so that was not a concern. In the end the furniture did come, was easily delivered and put together and looks perfect. I could not have asked for better customer service than what I received throughout this process. Ok I'm going to do an update on this company. First of all my original purchase of two recliner chairs that I paid $800 and something each for now I see from the company who made them cost $399. They were falling apart from the very beginning but they always blame the reason on the customer. Yes they replaced one which for the short time I had them when they did that should have never happened but their furniture doctor that comes out to access the situation wanted to blame the side collapsing on me ramming the chair with a vacuum! Really? I would buy $800 chairs and ram them with a vacuum??? NOT! Now after I gave a bad review the sales manger a year ago (yes it's been a year of hell back and forth) but I wasn't given many options other than I could come in and see if there was something in their store equal the price because he wasn't about to refund me. He told me he would meet me at the store and I get there and the associate tells me he wasn't in that he forgot he had a funeral to attend. Forget you had a funeral to attend? Really? So we went to the clearance side and checked out what they had and wasn't finding anything so we went to the side that nothing is on clearance and as we walked to a chair his assic informed us yea like that was out of our league when this person hadn't a clue what league I'm in. Very rude!! So after all this we left since she decided to spend her time with a potential sale ( a person that came in after us) because she saw $$$$ verses making me "The Customer" that had already purchased happy. So then after the fact the sales manager Alex apologized and then sent me several links to other recliners most of which were leather which he knew I was not interested in and showing me some express lane furniture that they discontinue because he decided to be more upscale. Mind you he felt my $800 dollar chairs was pennies of course until I wanted my $ back which the whole time refused. So in the end there was one that had a fabric that had green and pink in it that I felt might be doable since he was out of options and I didn't want to be stuck with two broken chairs so I settled for a paisley material with green and pink and I even asked if it was green tone verses brown and he said yes. I also mentioned I had pillows made with my original purchase and would like two new ones to match the new chairs and he said he would do that for me. Well months and months later, they delivered the right chair but totally different color of fabric so I refused the delivery and sent an email in which he argued for MONTHS it was the right one! Again, NOT! I will attach photos after my review. So in the end i had to settle with them or he was done and no more options even though after hundreds of emails back and forth he still insisted it was the one I chose which was absolute BS! So now after purchasing chairs and pillows originally costing me around $1600-$1700 I am now stuck with two new chairs that do not go with my other furniture but I took them back verses having two broken ones figuring I would sell them since he would not refund me but then I find that the value is like $399 each so what a rip off all the way around!! If you purchase anything and they break it will be YOUR FAULT!! Do not waste your $ on their overpriced Walmart quality furniture! Never again! He said if anything ended up wrong with them to contact him when really? When they delivered the wrong fabric he insisted to me that it was the right one!there was no pink in it at all and more blue. Then tells me they only had two colors and if that wasn't it, he would get me the brown ones which I had already told him I hated brown so it was his way of saying either you accept the ones that we delivered that was not the colors I wanted or he would send me brown ones. Even the one I chose I would never have ordered a paisley print but I only did cause it had greens and pink in it that would have went with my decor and he wasn't giving me any other options other than leather which I did not want. I found another recliner that cost the same I would have been happy with that did go with my decor and he refused. So.......DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! RIP OFF!! I have had great experience with Hamilton's sofa store at Bailey's Crossroad offering good choices from a well put together display. We purchased an air mattress sofa bed. The down side is that the sofa air mattress bladder was defective & that in the middle of the night the entire mattress flattened out. Be that as it may I notified the store my warranty being in full force. Never reached the person in charge twice in a row this went on for a few months i was told b/c of COVID everything was put on hold. After first posting about a less than spectacular experience at Hamilton Sofa I was able to speak with the owner Alex who assured me that this was not a typical experience. I have to believe that this is true and I had a fluke experience the first time because Alex was very attentive to my concerns. He showed genuine care and interest regarding the service I received. He was extremely prompt in calling me (even while he was on vacation out of the country) the next day after my review to figure out what the problem was and how to resolve it. He stayed in touch with me after and followed up to make sure I was pleased with his service. Delivery of the furniture went very smoothly. It was quick and professionally done. We are now enjoying our our new Chateau d'Ax sectional. I would be happy to work with Alex at Hamilton in the future. read more

Orders doesn't get delivered on time,and when you call the customer service number, you will not be happy with the way they treat you..They are more concerned about their money and there profit.. The staff was nice but wouldn't negotiate a couch price. We took a chance on an expensive couch thinking that the quality would be better over time. However, the couch wasn't assembled together from the factory initially. So, we couldn't even use it. Secondly, there was a delay in repairing it (a request for a partial refund was denied too). Finally, the couch isn't of a higher quality/comfort/durability than any other couches we've purchased at IKEA or Ashley. read more

We ordered a sofa in November 2019. After waiting 3 months we received the wrong sofa. 3 months later they replaced the sofa but the cushions did not fit the frame properly. I contacted Hamilton's in writing and was told it was an issue with the manufacturer. They wanted to come "service" the couch to "repair" but after sending pictures to the manufacturer, it was clear that the frame was not the correct size for the sofa and it was the fault of Hamilton Sofa. On August 2021 we received replacement cushions for the bottom but not the top. The delivery person claimed he had "thrown them away." After contacting Hamilton, they responded and said they would get back to me. I still have a large space between the back cushions, big enough that you can fit a giant roll of paper towels between the cushions. There is still a smaller space between the seat cushions. I contacted Hamilton with pictures and inquiries, copying the manager and salesperson I worked with on 2/13/21, 2/19/21, 4/22/21, 5/6/21, 5/12/21, 6/22/21, 7/2/21, 8/13/21, 9/23/21. I also purchased a warranty. If I receive any response at all, they only say they are working on it. I would only buy here if you are willing to deal with headaches and terrible customer service. I had an excellent experience purchasing a stressless sofa through Hamiltons. They did a great job of walking me through the pros and cons of each as well as various commonalities and were very honest about what pricing was available. (Stressless controls pricing on their furniture so it wasn't like they could give me a better price, but they did let me know whether I might be well-served by waiting for a better deal, etc, as well as including everything within their control) and I didn't get any impression that they were trying to pressure me to make a quick decision (I took several weeks of visiting a good number of times, going to other places, etc). The store was also good about setting up delivery although the people who arrange delivery when I received my couch weren't very responsive so it took a few calls to make it actually happen. It worked great once I had a delivery date, but, full disclosure, it took a few days to get that from the couch coming in. Now, I've spoken to them and they say they were in the midst of switching to a new delivery company and that such issues were growing pains, so you most likely won't have the same issue (read newer reviews if you can - I got my couch in September, just took a while to post my review) but I figure if you're anything like me you want all the info you can get to make an informed decision. The couch was delivered in perfect condition and the guys did a great job of setting it up, respected my schedule, etc, so after that hiccup all was perfect. There will always be people complaining that the cheap furniture they got sucks, but these guys seem to do a good job with customer service, and in the sharks' den that is furniture stores, that's a rarity. Our experience is similar to other reviewer, PC D. However, we still don't have our couch. Silly me to think a couch we carefully considered and ordered on July 4th weekend would not get to us in time for Christmas! No matter what the time frame promised or revised or made-to-order in not the original color picked out or the third-party shipping company taking a longer route than expected... This is ridiculous. The quality of sofas appears to be higher than the other furniture stores around, but I can't judge with certainty since I don't have one of my own to enjoy yet. All of this stress on top of having our first baby this year, does not make for a favorable review. Phone calls are nice and all (whether I speak with Kevin, who sold it to us, Ron, who sounds confident with new delivery dates, or Alex, who is apologetic), but do no good at this point. Baby is now crawling and the playmat and gates set up is on hold until the couch arrives. Not to mention baby's first Christmas decorating has to wait. The sales person was helpful and managed to delivery the unit within a 2 week period. It was a successful purchase. In the 2012 Hamilton Sofa Gallery business operations have changed. In fact the Vienna, VA location is closed. And after visiting many furniture stores in the DC metro area in mid February 2012, I decided to look at the sofa options from Hamilton Sofa Gallery in Falls Church. During the visit, I explored the showroom for more than 20 minutes before any of the sales people approached me for assistance. The store was busy on that day, so I did not mind just browsing and testing the many options. I eventually approached a sales person (Christine) to inquire about a couple of sectional sofas that caught my attention. Christine was very helpful and generous with her time. I was ready to buy on that visit, but waited until the next day after validating some measurements at home. On the second visit, Feb 20, 2012, I returned to the store and completed the transaction with Christine. It was straight to the point, she explained 4-6 weeks delivery process. The Invoice list the telephone number of the company that will deliver the unit - Tobin Transport 703.461.8859. As that point I was relieved to know that the purchased had been completed and it was matter of 4 to 6 weeks to have the unit delivered. But on the 5th week after purchase there were no missed calls, no missed messages and no communication Hamilton Sofa Gallery or Tobin Transport. I was disappointed in the lack of follow through and service from everyone at all levels. In my opinion a good business should have the decency to follow up on a sale. Specially when units are scheduled to be delivered 4-6 after a purchase. On the 5th week I called Hamilton and asked to speak to Christine. Naturally, she had forgotten about me, in fact I was not even on the system with under my name - Ricardo. After many system searches, the order was found under the name "Richard" something rather. The bad news was that there was not information on a delivery date. The computer based system did not have any comments or notes regarding the expected delivery date either. I was told to allow more time (days) for it to be processed by the Hamilton's Sofa Gallery warehouse or manufacturer. The situation had gone from bad to worst on the 6th week when I called the delivery company Tobin Transport. They had no reference to my order, my name was not in their system either, in fact the order number from Hamilton Sofa Gallery is useless to Tobin Transport. They use a different tracking number once the unit has been delivered from Hamilton Sofa Gallery to Tobin Transport's warehouse. Though, Tobin Transport checked with Hamilton Sofa Gallery regarding my order only to explain that no progress had been made. On the 7th week, I called Hamilton Sofa Gallery to get a status on the unit, nothing had changed. There was no progress on the unit, expected delivery date or notes on their many computer based systems for my order. Hamilton Sofa Gallery never followed up, or checked on the status of my order unless I called. And when I did call, all I received were unsatisfactory responses, no action, no due diligence. Most of all, there was no accountability for their many failures. Finally almost 8 weeks (roughly 2 months ) of waiting, Hamilton Sofa Gallery has finally presented me with a Tobin Transport tracking number, and we have been able to schedule a delivery date for tomorrow - April 12, 2012 . I find myself unsatisfied with the purchase and overall experience with Hamilton Sofa Gallery and the employee's lack of accountability and service once a purchase has been completed. As they say it's all about the commission and not service. Throughout it all, I have remained optimistic about the unit itself and hopefully it's delivered intact without damages and flaws. Snooty service, overpriced merchandise and otherwise an unremarkable store in a suburban strip mall. Granted, it was a "pretty-woman" fashion moment... I was wearing cut offs and an oversize SF Giants tee shirt, but when the sales woman came up and asked how she could help I could tell she was holding back a smirk. When I told her I was looking for a budget couch and was doing a price comparison she pretty much told me nothing they had there was in my budget. And that I wouldn't find a good couch in that budget either. What she showed me then, was a couch about $100 over what I said my budget was...that I swore I saw on Overstock.com. I had an outstanding experience at this store! I had the fortune of working through Mr. Herland Baker who assisted me in making my selections. I was interested in purchasing a Stressless chair, and Herland could not have been more patient and helpful. He gave me time to sit in all the different sizes of chairs and helped me select at least five leather swatches to take home to match with a certain rug. Once I ordered my chair, he invited me to visit the store whenever I liked to sit in the store chair while I waited the six weeks for my chair to arrive. He kept me up to date on when the chair passed through customs and arrived at their store. The gentlemen who delivered my chair were friendly and took great care in bringing it into my home. I bought what I thought was a nice leather sectional couch, with the expectation that it would last many years. Three years into owning it, it is peeling just from regular use where we normally sit. If you look back a few years you can see a review left by a happy customer in 2012. This is the exact same couch model, but it now looks entirely different just from regular use. I called Hamilton Sofa Gallery hoping they would be able to make it right and was told that after one year, you are on your own. Incredibly disappointing product and incredibly disappointing customer experience. They have lost my business. Wish I had read these reviews before deciding order through Hamilton. We ordered a 4 piece sectional over Veteran's Day weekend. The sales experience was fine--pleasant, helpful, patient sales person. That was not the problem. Was told it would be 8 - 10 weeks before delivery because of size, holidays, etc. That was fine, not a problem. Received a call week of January 14th from salesperson asking us to pay our balance due, which we did, and was informed that we would next receive a call to schedule delivery. That call came the next business day and we scheduled for January 24th. When the sofa arrived, one piece of the sectional was damaged. My husband called the sales floor and was told to call customer service. Customer service didn't answer, so my husband sent the damaged section back with the delivery person. I called customer service and left a message. Received a call back the same afternoon. While not completely unpleasant, I have to say that the woman who called was less than gracious and helpful. This is in NO way our fault, yet the person was less than apologetic and made me feel like we had done the wrong thing by sending the damaged section back instead of accepting it and having them send out a repair person. Well, if customer service had been doing their job and answered the phone when we called, then this would have perhaps been an option. Instead, my husband had to make the best decision given the circumstances. A week later, when we hadn't heard any further updates, I called customer service again. No answer, left message. My call was returned to my home phone with a message saying that basically there was no update because they are still waiting to hear back from the repair guy and also asking me for information that was previously given. Bottom line, if you order from Hamilton, then I think you can expect shoddy and shady business once they take your money. In a situation like this, I would expect a business to be effusive in their apologies and more proactive in correcting it. read more

They have a great selection of high quality sofas and chairs online and in the show room and the staff are very patient and kind. I went to Hamiltons to look at sofabeds, I made it clear to Herland from the beginning that I had 2 requirements: size and price. At first I found nothing suitable, because the only sofa in the right size was $3000, which I told him was at least double what I wanted to pay. So I bought nothing on that visit. Herland subsequently sent me a photo of the sofa that contained no price info. Finding no other sofas that fit my requirements, I then called him and we discussed the total price with tax and delivery, which would have been $3385, but he offered me a 10% discount to bring the total back to $3000. So I returned to the store, picked out a fabric from the samples Herland told me I could select from (all of which were of similar, and merely average quality). Then when he wrote up the bill he calculated the real price to be $5600 that he said he would discount to $3485 +tax and delivery which would have made the total $3794!! I pointed out that this was NOT what we had agreed to previously and he said that $3000 price was if I selected 1 particular fabric and then the cost would be $2800--a sum that had never been mentioned before. He clearly thought that after I had devoted so much time and effort to make a selection that I wouldn't walk away at the last moment. I pointed out that I saw he was trying to up-sell me by $800 and it wasn't going to work. His genial personality changed completely when I pointed out that he had completely changed the terms and I quoted the specific prices he'd previously committed to. He became arrogant and insulting. He replied that he didn't see himself as a salesman but as an Interior Decorator, so he didn't up-sell. He also told me that the man who came into the store while he was working with me that afternoon had just bought $40,000 worth of furniture from him so he didn't need to up-sell and didn't need business. This was just plain bizarre, and obviously unprofessional behavior. I definitely didn't want to take part in his personal ego trip he'd gone off on. Somehow my sofa purchase had become all about his self-image. So I left. I would never recommend this store. The owners clearly let their staff run amuck and engage in dishonest sales practices. This week I found an almost identical sofa at Macy's for $1179, with a wide choice of quality fabrics included in the price. I was actually on my way to Bob's Furniture (couple doors down) to buy a certain couch I'd seen online when I walked by this place. I decided to stop in and I'm so glad I did! I saw that the sofas at Hamilton were a bit more expensive but the quality seemed much nicer than Bob's. Marianne, the sales rep, was wonderful. She asked me what I was looking for and ended up suggesting a sectional configuration that I had never seen anywhere (has a "bumper" piece with a rounded end). I ended up ordering a semi-custom sectional from Rowe Furniture (bonus: manufactured right in VA) as well as a rug. It came 3 WEEKS EARLY!!! Delivery by the contractor was fast and easy. We went to purchase furniture for our basement. Bought a sectional. The first time it came damaged the delivery guys couldn't set it up. Second time received it damaged again. Tried to get it replaced. Took forever because the general Manager wanted us to prove it was damaged. He sent us passive aggressive insulting emails. Very rude and disrespectful. I should have read the reviews on here before doing business with them because multiple people had the same experience. The salesmen was nice but the general manager is horrible to deal with. Overall a shitty experience. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

Been waiting for months to receive my replacement pillows and cushions that fit my sectional we paid top dollar for. was told they would be in the 3rd week in December and today is January 2nd and no one can give me an answer if I will ever receive them. They have my money and they don't care if I ever receive my products to make my purchase right . The cushions do not fit the sofa . No one cares to give me a straight answer. I recommend if you plan to spend money for quality furniture make sure to take your business to a place that also cares about the end result and a happy customer . Looking everywhere for a low profile back, mid-century modern style sofa that would be made in the USA, with a short delivery window and not expensive. After checking out the usual suspects, came to Hamilton's...and there it was as I walked in the door. There 10+ more of fabrics to choose from at no extra charge. The salesperson let me take three off the ring to take home to mull over. Came back the next day and ordered the sofa the next day. Within six weeks the delivery company called me. They came in the window of time stated. The couch was well priced, it looks great and is so comfy....I had a nap on it the next day. read more

We purchased a Broyhill sofa and Rowe chair from Hamilton's in August. The furniture was delivered yesterday, in a timely manner and in great condition! Paul was very friendly and patient (my mom and I spent half a day in the store making fabric decisions), and helped us pick out all the fabrics. The sofa came with four custom pillows, which was a nice bonus. Paul was also very responsive when I reached out a couple times to ask for additional information. I can't speak yet to the long term quality of the pieces, but they look awesome right now, and I'd definitely go back to Hamilton's. read more

I am giving them NO STARS but have one star because I cannot post no stars. The salesman, Ron, told us that we could buy the sofa off of the show room floor - we were having guests the next day and this was critical. After we filled out the paper work and our finances had been approved, we realized, by the way that he was talking, that he was going to have it delivered. We told him to cancel the order but he still hung onto the paperwork and put us in for a credit card which we do not want. Sleazy. UPDATE: The owner contacted me and offered to work with us on this matter. I appreciate his follow-up, but by that time it was too late. read more

The delivery contacted on Thursday, July 10 and we scheduled delivery for Wednesday, July 16. I called on Tuesday around 9 AM and got the delivery time -- 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The delivery men showed up around 4:45 PM. I mentioned that we had two love seats that were being taken away. One of the delivery man said OK. The other delivery man said there is only one love seat in the truck and he seemed to know that I ordered two love seats. I asked the driver if he knew where is the other love seat. He didn't know since he did not load the truck. I told them to come back when they have both love seats. The VP of the delivery company called me around 9 AM on Thursday, July 17 and apologized for the mishap. He confirmed that the other love seat was in the warehouse and they forgot to load it. So, we arranged the delivery for today (Friday, July 18). The delivery is scheduled for 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. I hope all goes well today. read more
