Great place to shop when you need furniture. One of my go to spots when I need design ideas and inspiration.

When perusing the local listings for furniture on Facebook marketplace, I was at first happily surprised to see the exact make, model, and even manufacturer of the bed and associated pieces in my Master Bedroom! Not some knockoff POS! Huzzah!!! And then I saw the price tag these scheisters have popped on it, calling it a "deal".... pfffffff. I actually dropped my phone, I was that stunned. $400 markup over what you'll pay direct from the manufacturer, INCLUDING shipping AND white glove service. And it's not as though so much time has passed since I bought them, either. I purchased my set in the last 90 days, but (sadly) also long after the Christmas and after-Christmas sales were over. So I reached out via message through Facebook marketplace to voice this, and my combined concern and displeasure at this considerable markup. Charging $1200 when the cost is just over $800... that's stretching the American Dream into Used Car Salesmen territory. Screenshots below for you to see their "customer service" hard at work. I purchased "All " my furniture there in the Alexandria & Bethesda store. Will at Alexandria was honest, patient, professional as well as knowledgeable. The entire staff at Bethesda was the exact same. I never write reviews, I had to this time. The owners were not there and the staff gave the exact same service if not better. Not only is all the furniture here exactly my style everyone that I worked with was very professional and was willing to work with the prices as well for some of the clearance items. Even the clearance items are better than anything I have in my house and I'm definitely coming back to furnish my man cave and rec room. The positive reviews shock me, truly. But many of them come from Yelpers with only a handful of reviews--I'm sure that's just a weird coincidence... A couple of months ago I had a day off and came here on a whim with BF, frankly just to look at a warehouse of knock-offs (or "repros" if you fancy). I love iconic MCM design, and have always wondered about the knock-off quality given the price differential. We own several genuine vintage pieces (by Knoll, Chromcraft, Coggin, Brasilia, etc.), so we know what good construction looks and feels like. Can you really get a $300 Egg Chair? No. No you cannot. To start, this location is in what looks like a caricature of an 80s industrial park, because it IS an 80s industrial park, the likes of which I haven't seen since my days in the crumbling Midwestern manufacturing belt. The businesses have changed, but not the facade, so it's like going back in time to a world where mullets were a style and you could buy booze for your parents from the corner store at age 8 with a note. The store itself is indeed a warehouse. I'd say you could divide it into about 6 parts: showroom, broken furniture/pieces of furniture/garbage (?), nouveau-goth carpentry project workshop, pile o' chairs, dirty patio furniture, sales desk. The mix of styles is mostly MCM, with some contemporary, industrial, regency, and nouveau-goth mixed in. One section of the showroom is hideous unless you're into nouveau-goth. The place smelled like fresh varnish. We were a pair of the very few customers milling around. How's the quality, you ask? We were in the market for new bar stools, so tried many of them for comfort, and I can confidently speculate that most of the floor models have a weight rating of about 45 lbs. Most of the bases felt like the chair was going to fall apart as soon as one of my hips grazed the seat, there was creaking at times, and swaying. I think the fake ghost chairs are made of disposable cutlery plastic. The pic of the dog in the hanging Bubble Chair in the review page is apropos because I suspect that's about the max weight that chair could handle. These are indeed pieces of furniture being marketed to adult humans, I checked. It's a wonder that we could try much in the showroom frankly, because the pieces are shoved in there so tightly that only Slender Man could squeeze between them comfortably. The one star is for the like 3 pieces of furniture that were comfortable enough and didn't feel like they were going to disintegrate when we touched them: the Response sofa, the Engage chair and sofa, and the Loft sofa. The caveat to the Response sofa is that the upholstery fabric on the pieces in this showroom is felt--not that fabulous, bajillion-rub-count Knoll upholstery-grade felt--like craft felt. One of the pieces had a giant corner of fabric just rubbed off. I have owned sofas that are 60-yrs-old and IKEA armchairs made of cardboard and have never seen upholstery worn this way. Also, if you want that particular sofa, which is made by Modway, you can buy it from every store in existence on the Internet for prices ranging from $720 to $1,500. Which makes the regular retail price from this place middle-of-the pack. So, in summation: no. Just no. read more

There is another outlet in North Bethesda, MD (Rockville) on Parklawn Dr. and they have some amazing design centered pieces that are priced incredibly well. What I really like about this place is the ability to work with the owners and managers on just about everything and they are very accommodating. I meet some pretty amazing local designers here and the atmosphere is very relaxed. This is not your usual or traditional furniture store, it's very cool, very welcoming and not pushy at all. If your looking for modern and contemporary pieces with great prices you should check this out. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I repeat- DO NOT GO HERE!! We were looking for a dining set and coffee table and we started at their Alexandria location (btw be careful the sales person at this location didn't even wear a mask). Didn't find what we wanted but bought a couple decorative vases and then went to their Rockville location. At this location, we saw the same vases but they had lids. I told the manager that the other location sold them to us without the lids and asked how much the lids cost. She said they don't have a price, but she couldn't sell it to us. She also didn't allow us to return the lid-less vases and purchase ones with lids. She said *maybe* they marked it down at the other location bc it didn't have a lid, I asked her to look up the price and tell me what it should cost WITH the lid, but she couldn't provide me any prices or tell me how much this imaginary discount may have been. Her next theory was that maybe we bought it with lids and broke them after we left the store, when she called the gentleman at their other location and he told her he didn't give us a lid then she put this new theory aside. She made excuse after excuse and rather than helping us she told us all sales are final and we should drive 45 minutes to the other location to try speaking with him... not even to get a lid or a refund or a discount..... just to ask him about it, as if telephones were not yet invented. The silver lining here is that we found out how terrible their customer service is before we purchased something more expensive. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this business. Any business that argues with their customers instead of being accountable and helpful when they've made a mistake is not worth your business. Neither is any business that hides behind an "all sales final" policy. This is a crappy policy that allows them to sell you bad goods without being accountable to righting their wrongs. read more

After looking lots of places for several items, we wound up visiting here looking for a loveseat and leaving with a loveseat and an office chair and a cool pillow. Definitely recommend checking the place out. We kept saying "ooh ooh ooh - look at this" as we walked through the store. I've purchased pieces from here and have been happy with both the quality and design. I was on a mission to find a nice affordable headboard for my bed. I was alerted to this establishment via Craigslist and then Google'd the website. I was greeted immediately upon arrival. The sales lady guided me to the headboards. There were plenty of pretty cushioned & beaded headboards to choose from. A gentleman asked if I had any questions and assisted me by showing me a few by physically moving them around. I was able to make a quick decision and look around more. A good selection of replica designer furniture. If you don't mind a few blemishes, the discounts are great. I was able to get a Saarinen style tulip table, 4 tulip chairs, a couple ghost chairs, a couple leather chairs for my office and a random Eames style ottoman that was missing its chair all for a fair price. Abe and Charlotte were both helpful in helping choose pieces with the least noticeable flaws and very patient when I couldn't make up my mind on a table top. They even let me keep a table there for several days when it wouldn't fit in my car and I had no way of coming back for it. Love the business model as it enables you to get some very nice discounts on quality furniture. i walked around and compared to prices online and can definitely see you are getting some substantial discounts here. Stan helped me with my purchase and gave great customer service. Make sure you understand what this is. It's an outlet that carries nice modern/contemporary style brand new pieces, but what you see is what you get. If you see something you like but want it in a different color or size then now you will most likely have to pay retail price and lose the discount. They get new shipments of various pieces randomly during the week, so if you go and don't see something you like then go back the next week and try your luck. I purchased a sectional sofa from here on a Saturday afternoon. I was told that a third party delivery company will call me to schedule the delivery. I specifically asked for the sofa to be delivered on Monday or Tuesday. I did not receive a call from the delivery company so I called the store (Modern Contempo) on Tuesday evening and the guy on the phone who claimed to be the manager told me that they had the wrong phone number on their system. I checked my receipt provided by Modern Contempo on the day the purchase was made and the receipt had the correct phone number. When I told the "manager" that, he changed the story and said that the delivery company called me multiple times and couldn't reach me which was a lie, but he insisted and said "I know that they called you" long story short, he hung up the phone and when I called again, he sent me to voicemail 3 times. He picked up the fourth time I called and asked to speak to a man instead of speaking to me. read more

Be aware of the items you purchase from this store. I usually do not leave a review but the customer service that I received from the "manager" David is unbelievable. First I purchased the Zorah coffee table with side tables and over $500 for delivery because I live in Virginia which they said was out of the metro area, when my items arrived the legs were falling off of the three pieces. My daughter was home and the one that received the delivery because if I was home I would have accepted the pieces. I Contacted the store and was told it would take a while for them to get someone back out there and that it would've cost them $400 to get them picked up. I basically had the huge boxes in my living room waiting. After several calls to this manager and basically getting the runaround from this guy I got frustrated and asked for a refund instead because I was to have guests over and it seemed like it would take up to a month or more to get things sorted out. The manager of the North Bethesda store basically told me if they picked up the furniture that I would have to pay another delivery fee for chosing a replacement or something else. I'm still waiting for a refund of $200 which was all he offered up to this day. These items were purchased in early September. read more

My company purchased over $2,000 in furniture during two trips. I had a whole house to fill but the experience was so bad, I changed my plan and bought everything else I needed from Craigslist (FYI: Cheaper and same quality). The first shipment of furniture I purchase was a disastrous experience. The movers, one of the head guys that works there, showed up with two broken legs of our couch. Two chairs were delivered without any coverings and they were dirt stained and ruined. It looked like they were put upside down on the dirty moving truck floor. Even though they do not allow returns, I demanded they take the chairs back and exchange them for something else. Next, the Queen headboard I purchased was switched and arrived as a full sized headboard. It also was delivered without any legs or bolts so we are not able to set it up properly. I discussed the issue with the mover in person, called by phone, and made an extra visit to the store but when I arrived at the store the bolts I was promised and the mechanism to set up the headboard did not exist. In fact, they gave me directions for a different piece of furniture I did not even buy. Despite a verbal promise to make the switch happen on the Queen size headboard, Shar, the manager only delivered an empty promise. I feel ripped off for buying a Queen sized headboard and getting a Full Sized headboard. Overall, purchasing furniture there was a highly disappointing and stressful experience considering how much money and time I spent trying to rectify the many problems I had. Maybe buy one piece and pick it up yourself but management of the store is so disorganized you are best cherry picking one of the best things you like and relying on a different store or system somewhere else to avoid the head ache I had. read more

Not only did they have the modern furniture piece I was looking for at a great price, they have excellent customer service and stayed open late since I was coming from DC and was stuck in traffic. I walked into the show room and wanted one of everything! Unfortunately I have a small car and tiny condo but they deliver and gave me tips on upcoming products they plan to have delivered soon! No bedroom storage, but plenty of living/dining room/office furniture and headboards. I can't wait to buy more pieces from them!
