Let's start with the good things. The food is very fresh and healthy. I loved the presentation. You walk in and there are heapfuls of delicious grilled veggies, olives, pickles, all sorts of colorful foods. You order and they call out your name when it is ready. I ordered a plate and I loved the way it was presented on a platter. The colorful cabbage, veggies, meat, and all the fixins complimented one another great. The bread was very delicious as it was fluffy and warm. I also like how they have a sink to wash your hands outside the bathroom so you don't have to wait in line just for that. The man working was friendly as well. It was packed on a Monday at lunch time. They definitely have a big following and it seems like they have made close connections to their customers. I just felt shocked by the price sticker when my lunch came out to $30. The girl who also took my order was incredibly cold and off putting. There was never a smile on her face even when she was with other customers too. Even when I asked for a to go box I was met a blank face. Portions are big and like the other reviews say you can share your meal with someone. The meat was nothing impressive either. I guess $30 for a counter service lunch just doesn't sit well with me. Oh my! We dropped in here on a whim and glad we did. The food has great flavors but all is remarkably simple and clean. No weird preservatives or anything sketchy. Just clean, simple, and delicious food. The people running the place are very friendly. Everyone was helpful. Picked up a variety of their 'starters' for a gathering I had at my home. Was a bit tricky ordering over the phone, they are a busy operation, but they called me back and took my order. It was ready at the requested time. All the items were fresh and warm! We cut up larger dishes and everyone got to "nosh" on a little bit of everything. Everyone really enjoyed the food! Most notable was the sweet potato with the chimichuri, the roasted cauliflower and my favorite, the Araais which is a deliciously herbed ground beef tucked into a grilled pita with sauce! Soooo good! Man this place has a follower and for a good reason. They have found a niche that has been ignored for years here in San Diego. Good kosher Israeli street food (well it doesn't even need to be kosher, but I guess that is a plus for some people). I love the concept and the food is overall very tasty. But a few improvements they need to make: - schnitzel was pretty dry and overcooked. - falafel was dry, under seasoned, not very tasty. I am not convinced tahini is the best sauce to compliment falafel. I would rather some yogurt sauce. - merguez was good, however the texture was off (almost felt like undercooked meat) and couldn't get my mind to finish eating it. - they should reorganize their dining room maybe or their flow. People were lining up everyone and it looked very unorganized. Maybe some sort of buzzer to let customers know when their order is ready and they can wait outside to make the dining experience better for those who like to dine in there. Or a microphone to call the guest number or name. Anyhow they are probably still newer and will figure out these details soon. read more

Honestly. I really want to like this place based off the amazing pictures and reviews realizing this was a newer place to support in the neighborhood. The PRICE was outrageous for what the food was (fast food) over $20 for a pita wrap and $20 for a sandwich. We ordered fries and sweet potatoes snack. The bill was $70 for 2 people! I've eaten at a bunch of so called "fast food" Mediterranean places and it was always over half of that. It was my fault for not leaving when I saw the price on the register but my gf was hangry. When we asked for to go plates, I stood in line for 5 mins before I got my plates and the register lady asked "why we just didn't want to eat here?" Seems like she didn't want give us Togo plates. The portions are good but the taste of the food is very mediocre. I totally don't understand the reviews unless it was left by friends or family to bump up stars. I'm not trying to hate on this place as I'm sure it's a great establishment but I feel the prices are way outrageous for 2 sandwiches. I found this gem of a restaurant on Yelp. This place is super cute real personal. I think it's the owner that works in the front and makes a sandwiches and all the plates it was packed when I went there at three in the afternoon love the food, the ambience, the quality of the food it was very very tasty, especially with all the stuff that comes with everything that you order , I needed some olives and some hot peppers that I had picked up the food and they're sitting outside to eat. We dropped in for a late lunch last Sunday and the place was jammed. We were lucky to snag a table outside, but that was awkward, since the wait to order and then collect the food was quite long. We opted to share a "plate" after reading reviews and were very glad we did. We chose all the sides included, in order to try it all. The result was a huge amount of food. The hummus was outstanding, perhaps the best I've ever had, so smooth and flavorful! The assorted salads were fun and healthy. The schnitzel was tasty and not dried out, but I later looked enviously at the steak kebob. We did not receive the french fries I had ordered as my starch component, but I didn't notice it at first and given the amount of food and the good pita bread, we really didn't miss it.
