    Chicken Shawarma Fries
    Maridel A.

Worth the visit!! Met a friend here for lunch and it smelled and looked so good, I ordered before she even arrived The staff are super nice and friendly. I ordered the chicken shawarma fries... and WOW--so good! The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and packed with flavor. You can really taste all the toppings and seasoning in every bite aannnnddd they pack it with more meat than fries unlike other places. Def need to try the red and tzatziki sauce with your order. So delish! Definitely worth the drive for me to come out here. No wonder this place has 5 stars!

Yum, yum, yum!! There's nothing more to say! I got the falafel bowl. The yellow rice and salad were a perfect complement to my falafel. Pita was the perfect accent, along with that garlic sauce!

From the first bite to the last, this place absolutely delivers every single time. This was our third visit, and somehow it keeps getting better. We both ordered the chicken shawarma wraps, and the chicken was incredibly juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The fries were crispy, addictive, and paired perfectly with the amazing sauces -- seriously, those sauces deserve their own shoutout. We also shared a Greek salad that tasted super fresh and balanced out the meal perfectly. On top of the food, Sharife and Malik provided such friendly, welcoming service that it made the whole experience even better. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Today I went to two places that were once frequently visited businesses because they were close to where we lived. Akhis used to be a Hawaiian place that was always tasty but hit or miss in service or being open. Wasn't the cleanest back in the day but I'm glad Akhis has taken over and changed the place up. For any group sized 6 or more you should really consider getting the family meal options. The family size says for 4 but that is like if you are really really hungry and 4 of you eat a lot--at least for 5 is good but I say on average it's a size for 6 people. For $60 to get 4 proteins, 4 sauces, side salad, hummus and pita bread and saffron rice is such a good deal. The only thing is that I wish they included one side with that but it makes sense price wise. We got our food to go and it was done in such a timely manner. This is not like your Kebab Shop (fast food Shawarma) and my last few experiences with Kebab shop was not great but I will definitely vote up for Akhis. Especially since we are in the area all the time. The service was great and they seem to be settling into the PB area just fine.

Chicken shawarma fries were delicious & they load you up with extra sauces! All the staff were super nice, I will definitely be back!

I saw a review on TikTok and the tomato wrap pulled me in so I had to try! They were super accommodating and were able to sub gyros in the shawarma wrap so that I could try the tomato wrap. The wrap brought a nice savory tomato flavor to the dish and the green cilantro-y sauce paired so well. The fries were crispy on the outside and so pillowy on the inside. Love a lunch deal - came with a wrap, fries, and a drink!

A local Hawaiian chain eatery decided to call it quits after many years in this North PB space. Akhis Authentic Shawarma & Kebab opened last month as the replacement business. It's far enough from the Mediterranean cuisine competition that is prevalent on the main drag of PB. Nearby curbside parking was limited especially if you arrived at busier times of the day. On-site seating consisted of stools at countertops whether inside the suite or on the front patio. Two of the three rotisseries had meats (chicken, gyro) cooking during my visit. Bowls, wraps, fries, and sides made up the savory offerings. The menu also carried the infamous Dubai chocolate as sweet treats in the form of a bar or strawberry cup. I chose a Beef Koobideh Bowl for my takeout order. It came with yellow basmati rice, fresh salata, pita slices, and white sauce. The worker also added a cup of garlic sauce. There was a steady stream of customers before and after me which led to a backlog of orders. It took the kitchen about 20 minutes to prepare my food that was placed inside an aluminum tray. The ground meat was okay, however it could have used more seasoning. I found both sauces to not be very pungent which was unusual for a Middle Eastern restaurant. The portion size was mediocre for the price. The rice and pita were the best parts of my meal from Akhis Authentic Shawarma & Kebab.

First time here owner malik took care of my order. The shawarma itself was really flavorful and the chicken had a perfect texture and chew. Do yourself a favor and take all of your friends to this hidden gem on a beautiful PB weekend!

I really wanted to like this place because it is close by and the food is made without seed oils. But unfortunately the food and service fell short. We ordered online and it said 15 minutes. We arrived and food was not ready. The cashier said it was being made and would be a short wait. We were fine with that. After about 10 minutes he comes out to explain that even though the online message states that it's 15 minutes it's really 30 minutes and he isn't able to change the online message at checkout. Ok, then post on the menu that orders take 30 minutes and that the estimated time given at checkout by Toast is incorrect. Anyway we waited outside in the sun. He could have offered us a soda or water or pita and hummus or something while we waited. Nobody else was there so it's not like he was busy. Just busy chatting with his friend. Ok the food...it was ok. Another reviewer said the wrap was big...it was not. The shawarma and gyros meat were ok, I've had better. Chicken was a bit dry. I think they forgot the tzitiki and garlic sauce on all out orders. The rice was good. The best part was the salata. It was fresh and very well seasoned. A bit pricey for the portion size, amount of food, ambiance, wait, and takeout. I wonder how long it would take if we had not ordered ahead or if the place actually had other customers.

I haven't been writing reviews lately, however, I had to hop back on Yelp and write one for this place. It's a "hole-in-the-wall" type of kebab shop with big, big flavors. The chicken shawarma wrap is the most popular here but I decided to order the beef kebab wrap. The wraps are a great size for the price point and the outside is a seasoned lavash bread that is grilled. The beef was so flavorful and so incredibly moist. Pita chips and hummus were delicious add-on. Definitely will visit this shop again when I come to SD. The person taking my order was also super nice and friendly as well.

I saw an ad for this place and was craving a chicken shawarma wrap and theirs looked good. It's a small place with take out and some seats. The service was friendly though they asked if I wanted the yogurt mint sauce and I said yes but received a different orange sauce with my wrap instead. That's ok, the wrap and the orange sauce were tasty. I'd stop in again.

Shawarma Shack - spectacular service, spotless seating area & splendid shawarma!…read more I had to leave work early today due to an appointment, and I missed lunch. So it just so happens that Shawarma Shack was nearby, so I popped in to grab a bowl. This is not the first time I've been here, but it has been about six months. Service was very friendly and lightning fast. It took about two minutes for my bowl to be ready. I took my bowl to-go, and It was a very good size portion. I added feta cheese and so my grand total was about $16. My bowl had chicken shawarma, yellow rice, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes & feta cheese. I chose Shack sauce (spicy) and garlic sauce to top my bowl. The sauces were fabulous & the rice was fresh and super fluffy. Yum! This is a great shawarma spot. Definitely stop by & try it. You'll be glad you did! P.S. There's a small parking lot, clean bathrooms & a huge & unique selection of cold drinks!

Plenty of large chunks of meat, balanced with good portions of the toppings that all blended well with the sauce... delicious! On the other hand, the chicken bowl barely had any chicken, mostly tasted like raw red onions and rice... they also tossed in few olives and some pickles. The overall bowl was barely filled compared to the beef shawarma. For almost $20, I expected larger portions of both protein and toppings.
