The staff wasn't welcoming at all--the guy and girl at the counter gave me a strange look when I walked in, which honestly should've been my cue to leave. I decided to give it a chance and ordered a shawarma, but the food was extremely bland. It wasn't wrapped properly, so it became completely soggy, and I lost my appetite after the first bite. I ordered chicken thighs, and mine had skin on it, which I wasn't expecting, and it had very little flavor overall. I mentioned to the server that it was my first time there, but he didn't show any interest or offer any help with ordering. On top of that, the prices are quite high compared to other similar places that serve much better food. I paid $24 for a shawarma (before tip), which definitely didn't feel worth it. I walked by this place every day during my lunch break and I'm not sure what took me so long to just order some food but today I finally bit the bullet. And now I'm just filled with regret that I haven't been coming here sooner. The prices are higher than what you typically want to spend for lunch, but when I tell you, it is so worth it I mean it. The amount of food that comes in the plate is definitely enough for two meals or to share with another person. The beef kebab was so flavorful and juicy, the pita was probably the softest pita I've ever had, the mixed salads were so flavorful and complimented the dish so well. I've definitely found my new favorite spot. I took it to go so everything was packaged separately, and I appreciated that because if I didn't plan to eat it right away, everything wouldn't just melt together. Let me just say: if you're leaving a bad review because they're closed on Shabbat... you're not reviewing the food, you're reviewing your lack of cultural awareness. It's a kosher spot. Of course they're closed Friday night and Saturday. That's not bad service, that's called honoring tradition. Same goes for the "slow" service or "people standing around." It's an Israeli joint lol The vibe is casual, chatty, and community-driven. If you want Chick-fil-A speed and forced smiles, this isn't your place. If you want bold flavors and real energy, you'll get both here. The schnitzel pita? Unreal. Crispy, sesame-coated chicken stacked inside soft pita with fresh veggies. Felt homemade. Tasted incredible. No dairy? Again... it's kosher. Come prepared. Yes, it's a little pricey. But kosher ingredients and certification cost more, plus, the portions are huge and the quality is there. My experience was pretty bad for I ordered a beef shawarma and only later on I realized it was turkey. I wouldn't mind the turkey if the meat had been nicely cooked. The food... absolutely delicious. The salads were fresh, the meat very umami and flavourful, the pita bread fluffy, the falafel to die for. I was there with my husband who can't stand humus. I came here because of a recommendation from a friend. I have to say it's absolutely amazing! I had the cauliflower shawarma in a pita as well as a laffa. It had every single flavor and texture profile possible. I also had the beef kebab in a pita and that was amazing as well. The pita bread is the best I've had in San Diego. If I could go here every day I totally would. The price seems a bit steep but the portions are solid and you could easily share it between 2 people. The owner himself is very nice and kind, the guy who is making the food upfront (very short, younger guy with short black hair) is just rude. Today, my wife went back to get our side of eggplant we never received, and he was like "I already put them on the plate" and refused to even look at her. I finally went in, and waited towards where the to gos are taken care of and told the woman who also took our order (also not the friendliest) we just want a side of something if we can't have the eggplant she rang in for us (since we paid for it, and have on another occasion not even received a side- that is part of the plate meal) and she offered fries, which were fine. I keep coming back hoping to get better service, but we're both done with the rude and dismissive attitude we have to endure each time just to get our food. Yummy!!! We came here for some tasty middle eastern food and they delivered. We sat outside with our corgi Fergus. There are about six outdoor tables and a bunch of indoor tables as well. The post-ordering process is pretty hectic, and it doesn't help when there's a ton of people inside milling around and pushing tables together. Some people stay in front of the glass, getting their orders faster despite pointing to every customization and requesting things. For people who are coming in for the first time, I wish their menu or website had a list or description of the side/salad bar items! No idea what is included or not for each item. The flavor and ingredients seemed solid, but unfortunately found a few pieces of raw meat in my ribeye lafa. It's called "minute steak" so I understand it's cooked quickly, but I would hope that it's still cooked consistently. Our take out orders had a few mistakes, and lafas and pitas get super soggy so I think they are best as a sit down.
