I've been coming to Hamitbach for several years, and their pitas are consistently fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. This place definitely deserves a five-star review. The only small downside (which doesn't affect my rating) was one employee who seemed completely distracted while making my sandwich. He was staring out the window at female customers and appeared totally unfocused -- like he'd never seen a woman before. He only looked at me once or twice to ask what I wanted, and it felt like I was interrupting his daydreaming. That said, I've never seen this employee before, so I assume he's new. Everyone else at Hamitbach has always provided great service, and the food remains top-notch. My favorite thing to grab here is the liver and fried chicken schnitzel. Highly recommended! read more

Was in this shopping center the other day and saw this place not knowing what it was and walked outside of the door to check out the menu and what it was all about. As I stood in front of the storefront window in an attempt to see the menu I hear a group of men shouting loudly in Hebrew and congregating in the patio area. Unbelievable! Can't believe the food was that good! It's the third time I'm eating here and I live in Orange County and drive over an hour to get here. This time I came specially because this place is that good. Every time I'm driving in the area, I always try to keep my hunger and stop by here. I would highly recommend to simply ask what they recommend to add into the pizza or the baguette when you order anything! I know exactly what to combine with your dish! It wasn't very busy at the time, but they explained the whole menu since we hadn't been there. Then I asked them about wheat, soy, and egg allergies. I hadn't seen the vegan sign (on most things), but you can't always trust those in some restaurants. (They do have dairy in some things as shown.) The cook came up to take the order to try to answer any allergy questions. He was texting either his boss or the owner to insure he was correct about the ingredients. There is NO egg in the restaurant!!! Do you know how rare that is? This is an excellent place for food allergies! He said the falafel was in a separate fryer and shouldn't have wheat either. I didn't have a reaction, but I am on an injection that would make them less so. If you have a severe wheat allergy, you should still double check. They did use soybean oil in the rice, and possibly the chicken (idr), but that is okay for me. No soybean protein otherwise in what I ordered. I ordered a rice bowl with chicken shawarma. I got the garlic sauce, tatziki, and cilantro sauce (on the side). Toppings were as follows: banana peppers, kalamata olives, parsley mix, onions, lettuce, tomato. Feta is +.50, and I had some at home so I just added my own since it was take out. I would totally recommend this combo to anyone! It was so delicious. Initially I didn't like the cilantro tahini sauce on it's own, but when I dipped some rice/chicken in it--chefs kiss! The cilantro tahini adds a rich depth to the flavor. I also was not overly impressed with a chicken bite on it's own, but WITH all of the other goodies, it was excellent. The ingredients are fresh, minimally processed food. The basmati rice looked like authentic middle eastern rice that I could get from a friend's house, with a true turmeric hue. The one thing I didn't like was the pickled turnips. Luckily he put them on the side for me to try. They tasted like a very mild beet and I'm not a beet fan. They were very long slices like a french fry and if you enjoy earthy turnip/beat flavors then I would definitely suggest you get them! I also ordered a side of falafel. I can't have the pita, so he gave me two little things of tzatziki instead. I found I only needed one after all. The falafel is really good. It is less spiced than some I've had, but the texture was so fluffy and fresh tasting. It reminded me of the very first falafel I had, in Italy of all places. I was kind of comparing this to Kebab Shop in my head because that was always our go to "fast food", but the location in Mission Valley was so terrible that I haven't been back. It doesn't taste anything like that place because this place uses real ingredients and they don't taste pre-made or like a corporation that's trying to get the cheapest, most salty tastes for Americans. I would say the falafel are better at Tahini because they are fluffier, bigger, and not hard balls. IIRC there are a bit more spices and salt in the KS ones. I would prefer to get them here from now on, though I'm not sure if the price is right if you don't get the pita, but maybe Tahini can work on a GF option in the future. TLDR: Great for food allergies; fresh, real ingredients; Mediterranean fusion; make sure you get the parsley mix as a topping. It has onions and a pomegranate molasses which is delicious. The tabbouleh had really nice flavor, but it didn't taste as fresh as I was hoping for. That said, I saw a couple of other tables with what looked like flatbread pizzas topped with za'atar, along with some tabbouleh, and those actually looked really good. Good enough that I might give this place another try and order something different. I really hope I do, because the person running the place was genuinely lovely, and I'd love to be able to support a small local business like this. It ain't cheap but this is high quality food and you get a lot of it. I know I am supposed to swoon whenever the word "wagyu" is dropped but honestly, I thought the rice was the star of the show. It had some type of cream in it that made it rich and delicious. The shawarma plate was very filling. I actually liked the chicken a little more than the wagyu beef so maybe my taste buds are off. The breaded chicken was excellent and very tasty. Parking is tight. I am not sure if the liquor store's parking spots are supposed to be used for the food truck but I saw people use them that way. Street parking is very rough in this area so good luck. Well worth a visit.
