It's peaceful & shaded- usually quiet. We appreciate having such a great park minutes from home.

Trails run…read morethroughout the park and one of the paths (the main one I suppose) has white trail markers indicating in what direction to proceed to stay on the trail at forks in the trail. We didn't realize these were trail markers until towards the end of our walk today... we ended up going in the reverse direction around the trails. Runners, dog walkers, children in camp, and walkers abounded this morning. Along one of the trails there are restoration in progress areas where one can get involved in environmental stewardship if so inclined. Posted signs provide contact information on where to seek more information about this. The birds loved this portion of the trail and we heard a variety of different bird songs as we traversed this area. Wildflowers and plants in the park were beautiful and captivated my attention while exploring. On a more industrial note, there are big guns (I call them cannons) from the 1800s located by the playground. An essential stop if you want a fun photo-op and to learn a little bit of war history on your visit. My mom and I both enjoyed our visit today, Tuesday the 21st of July 2020, and found Hamlin Park a place we both are interested in revisiting. The parking lots didn't have many cars when we arrived around 9 a.m. but by the time we left, a little after 10 a.m., the parking lot we had parked in was about half full. The morning sun and cool air was very refreshing for a forecasted hot day.

We walked the whole loop in about an hour going very slowly and taking tons of pictures, there are some very beautiful views along this trail. In the evenings I have found that this parking lot can fill up quickly. The main entrance is located to the south of Brown Owl Bridge. There are trails to walk and benches where you can sit and rest. The trails are well maintained and wash-out and overgrowing of the trails has not been a problem in my experience. At the top of the trail system is a meadow called Krebs Meadow. The meadow has a grassy field, a woodchip floored playground with a few miscellaneous play/exercise pieces. At this part of the park there are also picnic tables and a trash can. A nice place to sit and catch one's breath, do some exploring, and/or have a picnic in the woods. I enjoy coming here both with my mom and on my own for a walk in the woods to clear my head and feel immersed in nature.

This is my first time here and it checks off so many boxes for me as a mama of little kids. Even though it's located close to a busy street, it's quite serene here. The playground areas have enough for small and bigger kids to burn off energy. There's a climbing wall, a little zipline, slides and swings. There is a small paved path around the playground areas, which as a stroller user is nice. I took a stroll down towards the water, and it was nice and peaceful, even though it's right underneath 68th/Juanita Dr. There is a small covered picnic area and a couple of BBQs. There are bathrooms with a changing table(!) and the bathroom seems to be well kept. I'm not sure of dogs are allowed, but there is so much grassy area to run around, have a picnic in, or toss a ball around. This place is kind of an introverted mom's dream park. And TBH, I am not a botanist. So, I can't tell you how many rhododendrons there are, but there are certainly a lot of flowers in bloom. My allergies know this.

The playground is designed with different age levels in mind, as well as different ability levels. There are a lot of unique features geared towards children with limited mobility, short kids, tall kids, adventurous climbers, social butterflies, and more. It's really well done, clean, and beautiful to boot! There are benches and picnic tables by the playground, as well.
