From the free estimate, to the design consultation, to the 3D images they created to show me what my kitchen could look like... before the work even started, the service was top-notch. My wife and I had a large renovation project done to completely update our 1st floor with focus on our kitchen/greatroom AND our primary bathroom. Hammer Home Improvement was the most responsive team that we consulted with among 5 home improvement/construction teams in our area. Tony, Joe and the team at Hammer provided the design we liked best, and were very practical in meeting our needs for time and cost. The other teams were not close to Hammer in cost, time, or design. Hammer did not cut corners in this project either. Hammer was very easy to work with, as they were keeping us updated and in touch with us throughout the process. The team working at the house, led by Supervisor Doug Everhart did an incredible job. Doug and his team made this wonderful update to our home a reality and it was great to see this team take such pride in their work, which shows in the end product. This project was very challenging and the team at Hammer embraced every part of it. Some of the facets/processes/work performed and challenges in our project included: -removal of bulkheads -updating electric lines to code -breaker installs and elec panel updates -updating plumbing to remove poly lines -installing additional lighting -removing partial wall and reformatting home entryway/staircase opening -flooring -drywall including replacing ceiling in kitchen/greatroom -painting -crown molding, shoe molding, trim work -appliance install -fireplace painting and updating -custom shower build -vanity install -bathroom sink and toilet installs -building and installing kitchen cabinetry -tile work for backsplash and shower -woodwork for railings, posts, etc. During this process we were living in our home with two children (ages 4 and 7) and the team placed an emphasis on safety, as I am sure they would on any job, but I like to think that they paid extra special attention to safety and cleanliness with our kids in mind. The team used dust shields, drop cloths, vacuum and dust containment devices and they always took the time to clean the work area before leaving for the day. Their team was always in good communication with us and each other. Whether the Hammer application was notifying me of the team headed to the house, or I was being notified about upcoming deliveries, I truly felt like I was aware of next steps and that our project was a priority to the team throughout the project. They were able to complete our job from demo to completion in just over a month, other than bath glass which took an additional 7 days and could not be measured until everything else was done. They absolutely nailed our time frame and have us set up for the coming holidays when we host a lot. The before and after show that our home is a completely different space and we are completely satisfied with the results of this project. We will be so proud to live in this space and we will remember the hard work that Doug and the team put into our project and we will make the very most of it, while we are raising a family here. They had someone come out within a couple of days. I scheduled the work they recommended. Lance was the contractor that was sent to do the work. He was extremely thorough. He went over everything with me. He kept me informed step by step. Afterwards he made sure to go over everything he had done and made sure it met my expectations. My sister Val and I were so excited to use Hammer for our home repairs. We needed a new slider, three windows and ceiling repairs in our basement. During the first meeting we even said if this goes well, we have several other projects and we would like to use them. Well this is no longer the case. We weren't told the correct time-line for all of this to be completed. We have lost time at work for a 1 1/2 day project that has now taken 3 whole days with a possible 4th day. Who knows. Zero communication and people coming and going from our house as they feel. Monday was great! Drywall went up, Slider and two windows installed. We even talked to Star who made it clear that Lance and Carlos would be returning on Tuesday to finish the job. Side note: Per her recommendation they would do additional trim work throughout our basement for a small charge. We agreed. Tuesday, Carlos is amazing. He came back added more mud and sanded the basement ceiling. His work is great. However, he didnt finish and on his way out at 11 that day said he would be back on Wed to complete the trim and paint our ceiling. Ok surprised there. We had to stay around because Lance was supposed to come over to install the 3rd window and complete the flashing. By 1pm we hadn't heard anything or seen him. So my sister reached out to see when he would arrive. After an email exchange from Star, we were told he was stuck at another job and would here Wednesday. Ok?! When we replied via email asking what time to expect everyone, we heard nothing and our calls were ignored. We missed a viewing for a friend's parent because of the delays and lack of communication. Very disappointing. Wednesday, the crew shows up after 9am. Basement ceiling gets painted. For some reason the top of my walls are also primed but not painted with no reason as to why they were primed. The trim was missing a large portion because they didn't think it was supposed to be done? Not what we agreed to. 3rd window gets installed. The Lance disappears for over 2 hours and the flashing is not completed. My sister emails and calls. Apparently it takes that long to get flashing from Home Depot. My sister calls back speaks to the owner. We now have to wait longer to have one guy come back to complete the trim and now paint my basement because of the error in priming. I guess Im expected to sit around longer while they drag this out. Oh and Lance finally came back to finish the flashing. We went out of our way to make their jobs easier. The all work spaces were emptied on all 3 floors of our home. We arranged for our dogs to be off site for 2 days but couldn't expect someone else to be stuck at home because of our repairs for a 3rd day. So they were stuck in a room for over 8 hours with our cat. Today, Wednesday has been the nail in the coffin. Yes they do great work if you want to be trapped in your house longer than expected, miss a viewing while attempting to figure out what is going on, sending lots of emails and voicemails and no actual time-line then this is the company for you. We had a full bathroom installed in my basement to minimize the exposure of COVID-19 for the in home daycare. I can honestly say we are completely satisfied. Of course due to the pandemic materials took some time coming and some of the items were discontinue. However, it took exactly the time the company estimated for the job to be done. The staff was very pleasant and hand on when I asked any questions(Miguel was my favorite). The owner came out the second day to make sure everything was started and to meet us to see if we had any questions or concerns and give us his personal number. I hired this company to do some minor upgrades to my outdated bathroom by replacing the vanity light and swapping out a recessed medicine cabinet with an oval mirror. The contractor's employee Carlos arrived on time and had great attention to detail. He did a great job rebuilding, mudding, sanding and painting the wall to blend in with the rest of the bathroom. He kept me involved in the process as he hung the mirror to ensure I was pleased with the product and positioning on the wall. Very disappointed this time around. I hired them to add a window, install a door and install a dishwasher. They did a great job during the pandemic. I had a list of other projects; however, this last project ended our relationship. I always request estimates, and they are on the mark with them. I asked them to build steps on my deck. They did a decent job but left a pile of wood and drinks on the lawn. I wanted the laundry room drywalled and bifold doors installed in front of the HVAC. They built one wall, drywalled it, and said that the estimate for wall(s) was a typo, so I was screwed, and I have the smallest laundry room ever! Now I have an unfinished laundry room with one wall that looks really good. Go figure. Be careful with their estimates and make sure you are abundantly clear with what you sign off on or they might get you too with a typo! read more

Did a complete kitchen remodel and did a lousy job doing the electrical work. They buried wiring for the garbage disposal, cabinet lighting and one of the receptacles behind the lower cabinets with no access or a junction box for future access. They also did not install GFCI receptacles along the countertop as required by government code. They also held the completion of the job hostage and demanded an additional $500.00 above and beyond the contract stipulations. read more

They did a good job on the work we paid for BUT they are very unprofessional, unorganized and lack of communication. We got our work started in 11/2018 and it wasnt completed until Feb. What company takes that long to get stuff done when they informed us that one project would take 2 wks and another project 10days (we should've went somewhere else but we wanted to give them another chance bc we were already working with them). They always had excuses that they're waiting on a supply, someone is on vacation, they behind on another home. They would say that "such and such would be here Tues" and the person doesn't come until days later unannounced. They left materials unused all over our basement, back yard or sunroom. We had to constantly remind them of what wasn't finished. Lastly the work is Finally done but yet the key box is still on our door weeks later. They finally take the box off and left the key on washer along with a scratch... thanks ! read more

If I could rate lower than 1 I absolutely would. What was supposed to be a 6 week - 3 month job has now turned into 2 years. The guys never show up and when they do they stay about an hour or sleep on the job. So many materials that I supplied have been stolen and likely used on other jobs. My house is actually in worst condition than when they started. They put holes in my walls, ceiling and even my brand new kitchen cabinets. We can't use our bathroom because they got something stuck in brand new plumbing and now I have leaks through my whole house if we try to use the bathroom. I also can't use a washer or dryer because they hooked up the connections completely wrong and have yet to make any corrections. Every time you confront the owner, Tony, he says he will come out for a walk through but he never shows up- he sends someone else instead. There is always an excuse whether it has to do with permit issues (their own fault for letting them expire several times) or they didn't know they didn't show up. It's just a complete shit show dealing with this company and I would never recommend them to anyone! Not to mention, we have already paid 20k more than we were supposed to and they claim we have a balance. read more

In a time where getting things done to your home seems to be impossible because of the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, I was blessed to come across this contractor. I had secured at least 3 more quotes prior to discovering them from other contractors and the quotes were unrealistic. I feel as that many businesses are taking advantage of people because of what's going on currently and charging outrageous prices just because they can. Tony and his crew were very fair, knowledgeable, friendly and reasonable. Hammer did not nickel and dime me either. They didn't stack charges. There were times that I felt that communication could have been a little clearer or more consistent but I believe this could have been related to the high demand for contract work and maybe not enough staff. In any regards. I plan to have more work done to my home and will use Hammer to accomplish those jobs. I highly recommend them for your home improvement jobs. read more

A basic MHIC licensed does not cover plumbing or electrical work, so do your homework before hiring them. Very unprofessional, and extremely unprepared and disorganized. After having major plumbing issues with their work, I insisted on having a licensed plumber correct the mess they made of by bathroom. I also asked repeatedly for their Plumbing License Number, to no avail (because they don't have one......). FYI - tile guys are not plumbers. read more

The guy who tiled was amazing and did a great job! The bathroom looks nice (mostly) I took away three stars because of the lack of communication with the estimator/project manager, the length of the job, the fact that it was not completed, and the fact that damage was done to my house. We had our master bathroom redone. New tiling, two new vanities, an exhaust fan, and a new shower. The job took SEVEN weeks, mostly because the estimator/project manager is the worst at communicating. They didn't finish the job (small stupid stuff that my husband is currently fixing.) They tried to charge me $600 for a single coat of paint that I would supply myself (the bathroom is already that color). And they damaged my hardwood in the process. I talked to the owner ten days ago and he was going to send some guys out to fix everything. Crickets. Until, of course, I started reviewing them. I would find someone else. On the scheduled day for install the contractor was later then the given time but it was ok, the installer Phil came very friendly,personal,helpful,answered all my questions and concerns,cleaned up after the install took his time didn't rush and that's what I liked.Now I love my powder room with my new vanity after looking at it the job Phil done made a world of difference.I would recommend Hammer Home to any of my friends,family for any home improvements they need and yes I will be using them again in the future.Thanks agin for a job well done. read more

On 3/1/21, I contracted Hammer Home Improvement (MHIC#107191) to complete a full remodel of the master bathroom in my condo (approx. $17K) and paid them a deposit of $3809.83. From the beginning there was detail that Hammer didn't follow up on and the lack of follow-up and follow-through continued throughout the six weeks that I waited for Hammer to provide me with the selection of materials to choose for the remodel. Hammer ultimately sent me a selection of materials that did not match (yellow toilet, white tub, multi-color vanity), were of fair quality (per public consumer reviews), and most importantly, was specifically the one color that I told them several times (in writing and verbally) that I did not want. When I began asking specific details about their qualifications to install a Jacuzzi tub, ability to select from vendors other than Home Depot and Lowes, projected timeframes going forward to complete the contract, and other contractual details - Hammer did not respond or did not respond with the specificity I requested. They ultimately indicated I had to choose my own materials and I was not getting my deposit back because of their 72 hour cancellation policy. The last straw for me was when one of their employees called me and proceeded to accuse me (and COVID-19) as the reason for their lack of acceptable performance on this contract. (BTW, this is the same employee that arranged for me to come to the office to pick up a tile sample and when I got there, she wasn't there, and the people in the office said they knew nothing about it and had no way to contact her.) After everything fell apart, Hammer offered to discuss a discount on the price, but there was no discount large enough that would make me take that risk on a full gut remodel. (And now seeing other reviews with the same issues I experienced, I know I made the right decision.) Luckily, I charged the deposit on my credit card and I was able to seek a charge back, to which Hammer did not dispute (but they should have issued me a refund anyway without me having to file a claim. If I had paid them cash or check, I know I would be still fighting for my money). I would not recommend Hammer to anyone, but if you do decide to hire them, get the most detailed, comprehensive information in the body of the contract before you sign and give deposit or you may certainly regret it. read more

Any time one hires a new provider, there is a bit of accompanying hesitation. I relied on the reviews of others and had Hammer Home Improvements bid the job. The great experience started with how quickly they came to see me. After another provider made me wait a week for an appointment for an estimate, Joe arrived at my house the next morning. Awesome. The same provider who made me wait took several weeks to send me my estimate; Joe had my estimate in my hands the same day. They slotted me into the schedule the next week and the two techs who completed the job were punctual, polite, very nice to work with, patient, and above all did really impressive work reconstructing a fairly complex home entrance. We were having part of our kitchen remodeled and a range hood installed, and were happy that we could supply the tile and hood ourselves and not have to let them supply it.
