Two scoops with waffle cone bowl

Not your typical grocery store ice cream. Located in Koko Marina Center, this spot is most definitely a treat yourself kind of place, without the frills. Inside, they have games and activities for kids & families, so it's a super chill vibe. But also, if you go through the back door, you're right at the water... how can ya beat that? While they do have some more common flavors, like matcha, cookies & cream, most of the time, you should expect to get a flavor combination. They feature different flavors regularly and offer ice cream flights where you can choose a bunch of flavors to try. My favorite ice cream flavors have been the Mocha Viet Coffee and Lillikoi Cheesecake. So yummmmmm. Owners are super nice and friendly. Funnily, everytime I've come, I've been helped by the owners and not the staff. They're a small, family-owned small business. Support local!

Atmosphere is light, airy, relaxing. The service was kind and prompt. The ice cream was very good! My favorite was marshmallow oreo gram. So good!! Also the lilkoi pineapple sorbet was so refreshing and very tasty.

Stumbled upon this ice cream shop in Koko Marina and got a scoop of their cookies and cream ice cream with waffle cone. They make their own ice creams here and flavors change up from time to time.

This is a very cute, cozy ice cream shop. We opted for the ice cream flight since we couldn't choose. Every flavor here is fresh, you can just tell the quality. We were talking to the owner Ryan about the lovely plants around the shop and he mentioned his wife designed the area. I absolutely loved it! He was gracious enough to let us try two affogatos since we came from town a little later in the evening. What a gem! Will definitely be coming back. Thank you Ryan !

I love that Hammond's has a flight option, which was much needed for all their flavors! There's lots of parking in the lot and both indoor and outdoor seating. I ended up getting the biscoff cream, honey yogurt, rice krispy partay, and the lilikoi cream. I did half in a waffle cone and the other half in the regular cake cone. I would definitely recommend getting the waffle cone for all. They were nice and crispy and the perfect texture. All the flavors were good but my favorite was probably the biscoff cream. I love the variety of flavors, and I would definitely come back to try more! Workers here are super nice too!

Great ice cream shop with a variety of options, including ultra small sampler size cones for purchase. No samples though. Friendly service and very festive with plenty of parking out fronts.

This location seems perpetually some kind of ice cream shop, which is good as every shopping center needs at least one. Hammond's is the current title holder of Koko Marina's ice cream shop and they hold the title well. A clean, well lit, with interesting flavors, and an instagramable background too! Parking is shared with the other tenants. We stopped by after lunch at Greek Marina after a hot trek up the lighthouse hike because my better half is always hankering for ice cream and it was a blazing, cloudless day. Immediately the Vietnamese coffee caramel Oreo called to me. Three things I like in one ice cream flavor? Seriously, how can I not get this? But because the Holidays are around the corner, we also got the Jack Daniel's Eggnog because, well, whiskey ice cream is also great. Plus, these two flavors work well together in a double scoop. The eggnog had a bit of a kick but did not actually taste boozy. It was creamy, rich, and tasted like eggnog. The ice cream itself was a bit airy and melted somewhat quickly. To compliment the eggnog, the Vietnamese coffee caramel Oreo was dense, with strong coffee flavor, but the bitterness was cut by the sweetness of the caramel and the Oreo bits added texture. If you like coffee, almost certainly you will enjoy this flavor. One of the staff, I'm guessing the owner said, "It will change your life." I don't know about that, but that flavor is definitely in my top three ice cream flavors now. Prices are fairly normal for the ice cream parlor business, staff are polite and efficient, and there are plenty of places to sit down and eat your frozen treat. We'll be back for more Vietnamese coffee caramel Oreo the next time we're by Koko Marina. 4.5 Stars

Think I might have found my new favorite ice cream spot! We got the flight of 6 flavors with waffle cones. It is mini sized which was perfect to try out different flavors. They do not offer samples. But there are many different unique flavors made in house to choose from but we got the Vietnamese coffee, salted caramel praline, mocha Vietnamese coffee cheesecake, taro coconut, pineapple guava sorbet and hunneh yogurt. Their flavors do change on rotation and have specials as well. All the flavors were delicious and really is gourmet ice cream! The owner was nice and there were cute holiday decorations up in the shop. They offer stamp cards as well so don't forget to ask. Definitely will be back!

If you enjoy fresh, simple, real ice cream do not go to your neighborhood grocery store...they offer mostly fake icee creem with additives on their shelves. Luckily, in recent months, a few real ice cream shops have opened on Oahu, to include Hammond's Gourmet Ice Cream Shop. Hammond's is situated in the Koko Marina Shopping Center. One of the older but still scenic shopping centers on the Isle. Plenty of parking, especially on the mauka end, near Zippy's. They offer ice cream flights - mini waffle cones with a small, single scoop - that serve as a sampler set. One can get as many as six mini-cones. I had three this Sunday afternoon: Vanilla, Strawberry Matcha, and Vegan Vietnamese Coffee. I luv vanilla, but the Strawberry Matcha was fantastic, fresh, and refreshing. Interior has lots of seating to comfortably try artisinal ice cream. Counter seating by the windows. A few outdoor tables are also available.

Located in Hawaii Kai where the old Bubbies used to be. A few tables outside and ample seating inside. I love that they have mini cake and mini waffle cones, to pair your flights with. Though I didn't ask if you could mix and match the physical cones...that would be an even bigger game changer! The owner, Ryan stopped by our table and chatted with us about their plans. Super cool guy, and very hospitable too. He thanked me for letting him know that their napkins ran out. I thought that was a normal thing for people to do, but he was so tickled by that gesture. Thank you for allowing me to check off my good deed for the day. Will definitely be back to try out the many rotating flavors you folks have available!

Yay, a new ice cream business has taken over the old Bubbie's at Koko Marina! I was excited to try it. You'll find flavors here that you won't find anywhere else. Some of the flavors even have alcohol in it. I purchased a double scoop $7.75 plus a little more for the waffle cone. I forgot to ask how much, but the total plus tax was nine dollars and some change. I got the Vietnamese Coffee and Caramel & Waffle. Both flavors were terrific. They were bold, but not overly sweet. The waffle cone was crispy and I saw the owner making it in house. July 20th is National Ice Cream Day. They're offering $1.50 single scoops from 2-6pm and 75 cent flights all day. I love flights as you can sample more of the flavors. *I stopped by on 7/20 for National Ice Cream Day. They were packed. The line was all the way to Zippy's and we waited in line for 45 minutes. Also, the mini waffle cones are 35 cents and the large waffle cones are $1.25.

Vietnamese Coffee and Strawberry in waffle cones
    Melanie C.

Cute ice cream shop with lots of unique flavors! Service as friendly and you can try up to two flavors. Some flavors are not on the board & you have to look into the freezer. I got the Vietnamese coffee in a waffle cone & my daughter got a Strawberry in a mini waffle cone. So cute!! It was the perfect size for her. They also have super affordable flights and you can get it with the cute mini waffle cones too! I love Vietnamese coffee flavor & this one was creamy and a little bitter from the coffee. The strawberry was creamy. The only thing was that the ice cream melted way too fast. I had to eat it so fast that it kinda took away from the experience. It was basically dripping onto the floor at the end of it and it was a sticky mess. Other than that, ice cream was fantastic!

It's the kind of spot you're most likely to discover while wandering in or out of Ginza Bairin, following a luxurious tonkatsu meal craving something cold and refreshing. The setup is refreshingly no-frills: medium styrofoam cups, flavors handwritten in Sharpie, and two separate freezers dividing ice cream and sorbet. The texture runs on the firmer side, which actually works in its favor -- your scoop holds up beautifully in the island heat and doesn't melt into a puddle five minutes later. Given the generous portions, you probably won't be refreezing leftovers anyway. The tropical fruit sorbets are the clear stars, made with fresh fruit and bursting with natural flavor. Mango, lychee, and guava taste vibrant and authentic -- bright, fragrant, and not overly sweet due to the natural acidity from using real fruit. Beyond the classics, there are some fun and unexpected options like corn cheese, durian, and avocado for the more adventurous palate. The standout for me, though, was the Kona coffee ice cream. It avoids the common trap of being cloyingly sweet and instead leans into a rich, dark, nutty undertone with an intense coffee essence that lingers in the best way. It feels grown-up and balanced -- deeply satisfying without overpowering. Whether you're looking for the perfect palate cleanser after tonkatsu or just want a cold treat while strolling through Waikiki, Henry's Place delivers simple, memorable scoops that taste like they're made with care. No frills, no fuss -- just really good ice cream and sorbet.

The sorbets were rock hard and super hard to eat. Might've been easier on a hotter day but felt like we could barely get anything and had to tear the styrofoam and bite it like a giant popsicle. Coffee was good. Probably needed to try it on a hotter day but found it underwhelming.

Another colleague and I jumped at the opportunity to tag along on a Friday early afternoon. Located down Umi Street not too far from neighboring New City Nissan on N King Street, Samurai moved to their current location in 1995 serving Maui style sherbet, popcorn and other local snacks. They also expanded to Samurai Snacks Aiea for an impressive 20+ years before closing its doors in May 2023. We arrived shortly after lunch time where we pondered at the menu wondering what to get. It's not fancy here at Samurai - - the storefront is basic and nothing fancy with a few seats patrons can sit on if they decide to eat their treats on premise. Morale has been low at the office so I decided to get some convenient prepackaged 4oz assorted Samurai cups to cheer up the staff. My colleagues also picked up some bags of buttered popcorn with mochi crunch and furikake for an informal office party to welcome the much needed weekend. Because we were already there, we also got some soft serve cups to cool down before heading back to the office. My colleagues had the classic strawberry and blue vanilla swirl and I selected the mango. My colleagues enjoyed their selection but the mango didn't live up to my expectations. The color was vibrant and enticing but sadly the mango flavor did not come through. Each cup came with a sugar roll cookie that was delicious. After our cold treat we headed back to the office with our surprise for our colleagues where it was a big hit. There were many happy faces standing in line grabbing some popcorn and a 4-oz cup of Samurai. Overall, a much better experience with Samurai that's deserving of an update with higher marks. It has been noted in my books to stick to flavors I'm already aware of and avoid trying new ones for that possible disappointment that often happens to me.
