I have been coming here for about 8-9 years, but today was the last visit. I am so over this dental office. My appointment was at 1:30pm. I waited about 10-15 minutes for X-rays, another 10-15 minutes for the doctor, and then another 10-15 minutes for the hygienist. After all that waiting, I left with nothing done besides X-rays. No cleaning, which is what I came in for and what my insurance covers. Both the doctor and hygienist came in, checked my teeth, and instead of doing the cleaning, they started going over additional treatments I "should" get done. This has been a constant pattern here, even when I bring my kids. This dental office is more focus on upselling than actually doing the basic service! This isn't just a one-time issue. Over the years, there's been a constant turnover, different doctor, different hygienist, different front desk at every visit. There's no consistency, and it shows. I have let things slide before, but they've wasted my time too many times now. There's also no effort to work with you, no options, no trying to meet you where you're at. It's it's either everything they recommend or nothing at all. At this point, I don't recommend this dentist office. If you value your time and just want to get what you came in for, I would go somewhere else. read more

Buckle up, guys, because this one is going to make sure you take your business elsewhere. This was my first time going to the dentist without my mom, as I had just turned 18 and was moving to the adult side of the office. I will be honest, I loved my pediatric dentist, who I had since I was 4. Her name was Dr. Christine Marcello Aquino, and her hygienist, potentially named Amber, was a beautiful blonde with a great sense of humor. Anyways, picture this: I take time off college to come back from UCLA to go to the dentist just for a small filling. First, like many have already noted, I was on time but was not seen until an hour and a half after my appointment time. I asked the attendant why I hadn't been called yet while other people were going ahead of me, and they asked my name... they did not even know I was there. I finally get called and placed in a room. A physician, who is no longer there (quick turnover), numbed my mouth to prep me for the filling, then left me alone in the room, reclined, for another 60 minutes. I finally called my mom, as I was now anxious, confused, and distressed because I felt like my throat was closing. I felt like I couldn't swallow or breathe. The numbing medication trickled down my throat. This triggered a panic attack, and paramedics were called to treat me. My mom left work and tried to tell the receptionist that she did not authorize me to be taken in the ambulance, as insurance does not cover that. The doctors insisted I be treated, only making the panic attack worse. This was the worst experience I have ever had since I started going to the dentist at age 3. I remember leaving the office teary-eyed, out of breath, confused, and begging for Christine to do my filling instead. I came across her in the hallway, and for the first time at this appointment I experienced compassion. The office then told me I would not be seen to complete the filling that I came all the way from college to get done. I had to go back the next day for finals, but they refused to provide the service they initially said was needed. My mom called the front office and had to demand they see me later in the day before I returned to college. Ever since I aged out of the pediatrics side, it has been nothing but trouble. I hope Christine can open her own practice someday because I will be her first and most loyal customer. read more

This review reflects administration and billing issues only, not the quality care of orthodontic care, the dental care itself is a different story. My daughter had an appt for an annual exam/cleaning. The appt itself went fine, but everything after that has been frustrating. We later found out that the provider was not in network due to lack of accreditation, which was never disclosed when the appt was scheduled. Because of this, our insurance company sent the reimbursement check directly to is. I contacted the office to let them know I would be dropping the check off the following week, and I personally delivered in on Jan 22. Despite this, as of Feb 04, I am receiving phone calls, text messages and letters stating that there is an outstanding balance. Clearly the payment was never properly noted or applied to the account. To make matters worse, there has been no manager or billing dept available to speak with at this facility nor the Irvine location (main office). The lack of communication and follow through is unacceptable. This is not an isolated issue, previous billing errors from this office resulted in out account being sent to collections. Unfortunately, this experience reflects broader issues with this location: high staff turnover, overbooking, last minute cancellations without notification, and very little administrative support. A simple billing issue was unnecessarily dragged out due to poor communication and lack of internal coordination. read more

I have been going to this dentist since I was 4 & now I am an adult, but I am now deciding to switch due to their horrible service & care. I would advise NO ONE to attend this dentist office. I came in for an appointment on September 9th, 2025. The doctor and hygienist informed me I had a cavity. However, when I asked what needed to be done to fix it, they said they could not do a filling because it was "too small" and that they were just going to watch it. I asked if it was too small to fill, could I do anything to make it smaller or if they thought it would shrink, and they said no. I came in today for my 6-month checkup to find out that I now need an onlay on the teeth they had previously observed as too small for a filling. The onlay is not covered by insurance, and I would have to pay almost $2,000 out of pocket. When they pulled up my file, it says that at my last visit I was diagnosed to get a filling done -- despite being told otherwise. Meaning, because these dentists did not do what they were supposed to, I now have to undergo a more expensive and invasive procedure. As I was visibly upset and extremely frustrated, they brought in the manager, Jessica, to talk to me. She told me there was nothing that could be done and that they could tell insurance a narrative as to why I need this procedure & the office could give me a discount on the treatment options. I asked her if her office would pay for my entire treatment. However, she refused to admit that this procedure is necessary because her office failed to provide proper treatment. She kept dancing around my questions and talking to me condescendingly. She kept telling me to calm down, saying she couldn't talk to me because I was crying. She even tried to gaslight me, claiming it's because "all our bodies are different" that this level of tooth decay has happened -- DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS LEVEL OF DECAY WOULD NOT EXIST IF HER OFFICE DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO IN SEPT. 2025! I have never had have a cavity in my entire life. My files say I have great oral hygiene. This has only become a problem now that I have switched from my pediatric dentist, Dr. Marcelo Aquino, and started working with these new dentists. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE NOT A PEDIATRIC PATIENT. The service is depolorable. The office manager, Jessica's quote online says she "makes sure her patients get the care they need and deserve." Amazing dental office! The entire staff from the front desk to X-rays to the dental exams and cleanings were really nice. Shoutout to Amber for my cleaning, it's definitely been way too long and my teeth feel like new! The pediatric dentist was awesome and love how they have TVs on the ceilings to keep the kids entertained (or distracted). My son didn't know what to expect and was having issues but they explained everything clearly so he knew what was going on with his teeth. Both my husband and I had some dental work done. They had to reschedule my husbands twice with us on the way to the appointment. That was terrible. You wait around for the appointment and when you are on your way they cancel. That is terrible communication and lack of knowledge on what they have going on. My husband has a little bit of memory loss and we told them that I had to be there with him for the paperwork . They wouldn't allow me to be there for him. He had to get a implant removed and we paid the amount they asked for and NEVER had him sign a release for the payment and they billed us $850.00 and never told us. We received a bill from the office the same day we got a denial letter from insurance and we had no idea what it was for. So I took the paperwork in to find out what it was for and Jessica said she couldn't talk to me unless he gave his permission. She wouldn't allow me to call him, he had to call and ask for her and give approval for her to speak to me. She said she would look into it and call me back. This was the beginning of January. 2 weeks later I got an email that they sent us to collections. This is BULLSHIT!!!! I have called several times and they keep telling me she will call back in 30-40 minutes or she is not in. What is she hiding from? It is now the middle of February and still no call a nd no answers. 100% the worst dental office my husband and I have ever been to. Its like a cattle march into how much money can they get you to spend today. They quoted me almost 1500 dollars on a tooth that isn't even hurting yet but apparently needs a ton of work. In the meantime they had my husband far away on the other side and discouraged us from talking to one another first before getting the work done. (The insurance lady tried her hardest to keep us from talking and to just get the work done.)This is how they work it, exam, up sale on everything you might need or don't need and a quick lets do it while you are here so you don't have any time to think about anything. Thankfully my husband and I don't make these decisions without each other or we both might have been rooked into almost 3k in a single day between him and I. We both said we will make appts on a different day after talking to one another. Upon doing so and after research we confirmed that they are money grabbing hard core and that the work they quoted on my tooth alone would be half the cost had they actually discussed options with us rather then to go for the most expensive treatments. In particular the front office is so rude. There is a single lady there who never smiles, is never nice and acts like she is doing everyone around her a favor. I honestly have no clue why they would allow this lady to represent their front office. My husband and I both had different doctors and also completely different exam experiences regarding what they actually do. He had some parts of the exam that I didn't and vice versa. Not consistent at all. My Dr was Dr Zokaeian, They refer to her as Dr Z for short and she also has absolutely no bedside manner. She was directly rude to me over a medical condition that is none of her business and then this up sale, she went for the most expensive, didn't offer any other solutions. Once I had time to think I called her the very next day and for a week after, trying to get her to talk to me just for a few minutes so we could go over other options and she just will not call me back, (neither will anyone from the office). In the meantime I am having to figure out if I actually need this tooth repaired or not and because we didn't fall for their money grab, they have no interest in speaking to us or even an attempt at making it right. The kids dentist area is fantastic, no complaints! But PATIENTS BEWARE! The adults area keep trying to hustle us to pay for extra lazer cleaning that cost so much. I got stuck with a $1,000 bill the first time when I believed them that I needed it, then they offered to do it again and I said no, and now they denied my husband a basic cleaning because when they offered the lazer cleaning, he said no and they said they couldn't do the basic cleaning anymore, he had an awful experience as they tried to pressure him as they treated him like dirt when he said no. This place is terrible! They canceled or rescheduled our appointments at least two times. The waits are usually long. They cannot keep their appointments on time. If you have an appointment at 2, don't expect to be seen at 2. Most of the time it will be at least another half hour. Meanwhile if we reschedule we will lose the deposit. I have never experienced this type of service at dental offices! This is ridiculous where they made us come in to wait for an hour and a half and after that time they said to wait another hour and a half. I had the best experience with the amazing Dr Martin the orthodontist. I drove all the way from OC to see him every few weeks. He is kind, nice , on time and always prepared for the appointment. I did Invisalign and he was very attentive to the processes and listened to what I wanted the outcome to be. I am very happy with the results and with the customer service at this office. They are very punctual and my appointments where always easy to schedule and never had to wait long to see the doc. The staff is great and overall a really good experience. read more

We LOVE our daughter's ortho, Dr. Boyd! His team is excellent! The office staff, though, is incompetent. Several times I have been asked to pay when I know it's covered by insurance. When I challenge them on the payment, miraculously they're able to see that we don't owe anything. They use wording like "we'll go ahead and waive that for you" implying we do owe them something BUT that they're so gracious and will waive it "just this once." Staff is all very friendly and the place is very clean. However, I got a crown here and it has popped off 3 times within two years. They struggled to even get it on the first time, took them 4 hours. If it wasn't the best option they should've done something other than a crown so I wouldn't have to waste so much time and money coming back here every time it pops off. Additionally, they leave you in rooms alone for quite some time. To get any work done here prepare to be left alone, one time I was left in a room for so long the numbing wore off and they had to renumb me before they could start working on me. read more

This place is hands down the best place you can choose for dental care. Dr. Dhama is my dentist and she's great. I had an emergency when my crown popped off and needed urgent help. Dr. Dhama wasn't there but Dr. Zokaeian jumped in and took care of me no problem. She was already booked but had the patience to work with me and perform a full procedure that lasted 2 hours after closing. Coco also stayed to helped and gave me great insight on what the procedure would end up like and helped me feel more confident things would turn out fine. I am super picky with how my crowns look, especially since they're my front two teeth and I need them to look perfect for my profession. The temporary crowns look just as good as my permanent ones. Dr. Z is known in the community for being the expert on aesthetics and I can attest to that. I'm not only satisfied but grateful I work with this group. They are a group you can trust to do a great job with the latest state of the art technology to fix emergencies on the spot. They're also very accommodating and work together. The girls up front are genuinely sweet and kind to work with. This whole office seems to love what they do and it shows in the care they provide. Thank you, Dr. Z and Coco, for taking pride in what you do and genuinely caring to make the outcome the very best. The world needs more of you. Side note: my wife and four kids also come here. Do you like to keep your hard earned money? If so, do not come here. My 2 year old toddler came here a while back and was quoted a $6000 (after insurance) deep cleaning with total anesthesia because of some decay. We went to other dentist, and did a $150 silver diamine procedure to halt her decay. They also want to charge us $50 for a tiny tube of Mi Paste fluoride toothpaste. Later I bought it myself for $19.99 at dentalhealthessentials.com. When I came for my cleanup recently, I was recommended a gum laser cleaning for $500 (after insurance). When I said I was going to do more research about it, the finance/biller person pressure and scare me to do the procedure. She said she has been working in the field for 10+ years, and if I don't do it I will have gum disease that will cost me more money at a specialist. I find it highly unprofessional for her to pressure me like that considering she is a biller and not a hygienist or dentist. We have found a new dentist since this bad experience. Our family new dentist actually said my gum was not in a very bad shape, and just recommend a regular gum cleaning every 6 months. This cleaning cost me $150 after insurance their $500 recommended procedure. Dentists and hygienist at this location seems to be overworked. Expect at least 20-45 min wait from your actual appointment time. read more

I am terribly disappointed with the staff at Hamner Dental. Please consider going to a different dental office. Every time I go to this place they change the price for my services. I verified the procedures and prices of my services the day before my scheduled appointment. When I go in for my dental appointment a different dentist told me she can't do the two crowns on my teeth. Rather, she recommends 2 different procedures with increased prices. I would have to pay $1,500 more for the procedures they recommended. This is utterly frustrating. I did my homework to verify with my insurance about the cost and procedures. Hamner Dental decides to throw those recommendations out the window and make new recommendations that cost $1,500 more. Please go elsewhere. You will be frustrated every time you go here. read more

The people working her are nice. I originally planned to just get a dental cleaning, turns out my teeth were in worst condition. Needed some crowns, received a deep clean, found 2 cavities, etc. estimated wait was 3 hrs, I'm sitting here about to hit 6. I'm thankful the dentist was able to get work me in her schedule, but this is fucken ridiI'm just waiting for the dentist to come back to install my last crown. That's why it's a 3/5 stars. The wait is crazy. Dental insurance doesn't really help that much either. People at the dental office and the doctor reached out because of my disappointment in the weight time, but it doesn't really change/alter my experience. I recently visited Hamner Dental Group for a cleaning and routine check-up, and I was extremely disappointed with the experience. The dentist claimed I had multiple cavities that needed immediate attention, I needed a lazier treatment from my gums that also stated I could have diabetes. I thought something was off I first went to my primary health care Dr. whom told me she had only seen this one time, her and her associate had done research and found nothing valid about this gum test and its results... I also decided to have a second opinion with different Dental office. What a pleasant experience that was. Come to find out I have no cavities and my gums and teeth are healthy. This is extremely scary as I had spent so much money here with my family of 6 and now I feel as if these people have drilled into my children and my self just for the money. It is clear that this business is more interested in making money than providing honest care to their patients. RUN! read more

She was pleased with my gums. NO beginning signs of gum disease and my pockets measured 1-3 which is perfectly normal. I was told I measured 4-5 at Hamner Dental. I had a great experience in this dental office! The admin staff are all nice and friendly, answering all the questions that I had very patiently. They even helped me fix an issue with my dental insurance wherein it wasn't assigned to the right office. Instead of waiting the usual 2 months that we usually do, they had the issue addressed and fixed right away. My daughters were seen by Dr. Cho. He's was very thorough, and was also patient with all my questions. My 15-year-old commented afterwards that they have very good bedside manner compared to the previous dental office that we used to go to. My 8-year-old was a bit nervous about the x-rays - she hates the big films in her mouth, and they were very patient and kind, and made her feel as relaxed as possible. I also went for my check-up and cleaning, and I must say that Jorge is the best hygienist ever! I told him that I was concerned about my gums - I had a deep cleaning before and my gums typically bleed a lot. He checked the condition of my gums and recommended that I get a laser treatment. I'm so glad that I did! My gums don't bleed as much anymore. He gave me great advice on how to properly floss and my gums feel a lot better. I also typically cough a lot during cleanings, and that didn't happen during my cleaning. He made sure to stop every once in a while, so that I can feel as comfortable as possible. I was also very impressed with Dr. Dhama. One quick look at my teeth and she immediately knew that I was a teeth grinder. I tried to brush it off, telling her that I "sometimes" grind my teeth, but she called my bluff and said, "no, you grind A LOT"! I already know this since I've been a teeth grinder since I was young, but no dentist has ever pointed it out to me before like she did. I'm getting my wisdom teeth extracted in 2 weeks, so I'll meet their oral surgeon then. I'm quite nervous about it, but we'll see how it goes. I was a bit nervous because, I haven't been in since the start of the pandemic but the staff were very friendly and settled my anxieties right away. The work was very well done and the care team is absolutely wonderful. The facility is very clean and modern, and sanitized often. As far as payment they have payment plans available to suit your needs and a simple cleaning isn't hard on the wallet. I've been going here all my life and I intend to keep going back. read more

I went for a cleaning and was charged over $800 dollars. Then I had a root canal and a crown and was charged about $2000 dollars. I checked the charges and compared them to my insurance ICD-9 codes and found that they over charged me. When I brought it to their attention all they said was sorry well refund you the difference. They are aware of my current insurance because they have been charging them too. I also found out that the $5000 work I needed done with insurance was never suppose to be that high.
