It was my first time taking our dog to a vet since we moved, I called around and actually left message at three different offices and HVC was the only one to return my call and they did it the morning after I called (my call was after hours). They were kind and quickly got me set for an appointment and when we got there the vet techs and the doctor took time to learn about our pup and inform me what they suggested and even gave me the choice of having the blood draw done in the room with me or for her to go in the back room. They really made sure that both my pup and I were comfortable. Highly recommend them! read more

Dr. Peck is a kind and loving person and brings this into her business. Also Dr. Constant is an excellent surgeon.

They put you on hold for 30 mins, then disconnect the call, then don't answer when you call back. What a joke

I have had many dogs and cats over the years and the staff at Hampden Veterinary clinic have always been the ones I have trusted with them. They are a state of the art hospital with top notch employees, equipment and Doctors who all love animals, top shelf in every way. Dr. Peck kept our dog Thunder alive for 3 plus years with the proper medication and diet guidance, after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, if you need a Veterinarian this is the place to go! read more

Great vet, and an even better addition to the neighborhood. We used to travel all the way to DC for our dog because we loved his old vet, but after that became too much for us we started looking around. A lot of vets in Baltimore cost an arm and a leg, have weird hours, etc. but Hampden Vet is awesome. The prices are right, they always are able to accommodate us, and Dr. Papke is great. You can tell she really loves animals. Unfortunately we spent a pretty large chunk of our puppy's first 6 months here, but she was able to help get him back to full health and he's never been better! read more

Doctor called me to discuss how my dogs vaccine appointment went and my puppy was still was in the car with me. I don't trust them at all. Then the owner called to "explain" why I was an hour late after check in and flat out lied to my face. I can't say enough good things about the girls at this clinic! We have been going to Hampden vet for years. The girls at the desk are always really friendly, helpful and pleasant. Yes, they get busy and have to take care of other things, but I've never waited an unacceptable amount of time for anything. I can go on and on about wonderful care I've received, but two things stand out the most. My dog has suffered with skin allergies for years. We have gone to multiple other vets (previous owners used them so we continued due to his history with them) and he was never properly treated, just maintained. By maintained, he was pretty bad. Within 20 mins, Dr. Joos had a solution. Some medication and follow ups later, my dogs skin was cleared in 3-5 wks for the first time in years. He still gets allergies but they're always quick to treat him and he's never had a bad experience there. My dog isn't exactly friendly, but he loves his vet girls! The second thing that stood out is my late cat. She had congestive heart failure. One morning we came home and she was in bad, bad shape. She couldn't breathe or move. This was the day before a major snow storm so they were already triple booking so their staff and patients could safely stay home during the snow. They took her in immediately. As soon as she was in the door, they took her before checking in and had her set up on comfort care. They realized she had a pulmonary embolism that spread to her abdomen and it was just a matter of time before she passed. This condition is almost 100% fatal and extremely painful. They were kind enough to wait 30 mins with us in the back while I was able to arrive (a relative brought her in since I was at work, I rushed there). They let us take as much time as we wanted to say goodbye to our baby. The vet was so incredibly comforting during this time. I know they had a ton of other clients and needed us to leave, but encouraged us to take our time. That alone would make me go back forever. I absolutely love the employees here!!! read more

We have had three dogs and a cat with Dr. Peck. She spotted issues with our bulldog early before there any signs, which helped us get ahead of the curve. With our 17-year old Sheltie, the entire team was kind and aware of her history and responsive to her needs ( and our schedule) as she aged. Whenever we had a sick call, someone always calls the next day to see how the pet is doing. Often Dr. Peck herself is the one calling. We trust Dr. Peck. read more

I moved to Western Mass several years ago and had a heck of a time finding a competent vet. My doc in Florida was so awesome and never overcharged or did unnecessary procedures. I knew it would be virtually impossible to replace him. I have come very close with Dr. Peck. After several bad experiences with other vets in the area, I ended up at Hampden Vet Clinic at the recommendation of a groomer who has many clients who swear by Dr. Peck. My two little dogs (both under five pounds) were a few year old by this time. My small Shih Tzu had purple stuff coming out of his eyes that smelled pretty bad. Several vets had seen him with this condition and said nothing. The minute Dr. Peck walked in the room she said, "that's a tear duct infection. I can smell it." She treated him for it, and although it took a couple of course of antibiotics, it cleared up and never came back.She also tested his eyes and found he doesn't make tears so needs medication. I always thought he just liked to rub his face on everything. He actually was really uncomfortable. He now uses daily eye medicine and is doing so much better. I have only taken my dogs to her ever since. My oldest dog is suffering from congestive heart failure and she has kept him alive for over two years with medication without gouging me. This is a very caring practice. read more

These guys only care about one thing... Money. I have had a sick cat since November 2014 when we started noticing weight loss. Brought him to this clinic where many tests were done. He was dewormed and also treated for a UTI with fluids and 3 weeks of antibiotics. At this time he was put on a special diet omitting his favorite indulgence... Seafood. A few weeks after his first round of antibiotic treatment his weight loss was apparent once again. We immediately took him back where once again he was dewormed, put through the gamut of tests and treated for the same ailment with yet another round of antibiotics. After getting off the antibiotics again, he immediately got worse and has now passed unexpectedly before we could get him to a more competent Vet. They NEVER ONCE WARNED US OF THIS FATAL DISEASE. FIP. It wasn't until after the fact that Dr. Lisa had the nerve to say that's what she thought it was. Because I have never heard of it or been prepared for this possible outcome. Keep in mind he is only 2 1/2 years old. And his brother is lost without him. Surely we would have given him the most spoiled last weeks of his life if we had only known that this was even a remote possibility. In my opinion this clinic is a rip off. All they did was take my money and give me false expectation. Dr. Lisa never once spoke to us about this. I feel as though this whole situation was handled poorly and if this was a person they would be sued for malpractice. Customer beware! You have been warned! read more

I have been coming here for the past 11 years or so and every time I leave here, I leave with a sense of confidence that my pet is getting the very best! One star because I can't rate it as zero. I stopped in to pick up some pills to make sure my dog was prepared for his physical and nail clipping next week. As soon as I walked in the woman at the desk looked at me then answered the phone...took the call, asked the caller to wait on hold then started doing whatever on the computer. The woman behind her looked over her should at me then went back to whatever she was doing. After standing there for about 2 minutes, a third woman walked out to show the other 2 her new "coach" bag...a tote bag with a picture of a cat on it. All three took time to admire and comment on the bag for another 45seconds or a minute....now all three go back to whatever they were doing....finally the woman on the phone asks if someone can ask what I'm there for....the cat bag woman kept walking...the second woman got off her chair and walked in the back...now I'm standing there for almost 5 minutes and have not even been asked what I'm there for. I turn around to leave and the woman says don't go...I'm not a retired lady or a guy with nothing to do...I was left. After I told my wife about the rude reception, she called and was cut off by the person who answered the phone and was told I should be more patient. The staff did not have any concern about being professional or polite then blamed me for being aggravated after being ignored for 5 minutes when not 1, not 2 but 3 employees had looked straight in my eyes and decided to not ask why I was even there. Complete waste of my time and I'm never going to spend another penny at that office again. I had been a faithful client for the 7 years I've had my dog and lived in Hampden. read more

For the people that have to take their pet to a doctor because there's something wrong with their beloved animal, and expect the very best professional care and diagnosis and caring individuals to boot, and then complain about the cost of all this, then go somewhere else, someplace that's cheaper! I can't say enough about the folks I met there when our kitty got sick, nor about the eventual outcome, and the overwhelming concern that my wife and I felt from them. Sadly, we lost our Panda Bear, but my wife and I felt as good as we possibly could, thanks to all the caring people at this clinic. They helped us both through a difficult time. read more
