Cuddling and healing in bed

I brought my Puppy to them to spay, the staff was amazing!!!!! She started bleeding immediately after surgery, Dr, Nowicki and her staff brought her right back in, they cleaned her up and stopped the bleeding and had me bring her to the er for observation. I called them the day after and they were so relived that she was doing great.

Is the cost of care reasonable compared to what other area vets cost for services?

Yes, I think so. Not by a lot but the convenience and time saved counts.

I guess I am really in deferent with my opinion here. I am not a dog owner but I did assist my…read moregirlfriend by taking her dog here for a couple visits while she was in town. Before I get to the visits, I felt the staff were very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. They explained what they were going to do, talked about upcoming appointments that should be done, and made the experience coming in easy. The first visit I honestly cannot remember why we came in other than we had a coupon for here. There were a couple shots due so I said do them so the dog can be up to date too. The girlfriend was not happy with the bill, little expensive to her liking. The second visit was for a nail trim. This is something we did ourselves for a while but it was time for a professional clipping. This time around I didn't even need to get out of the car. May have been miscommunication but they came out, took our pup and brought her back with nicely clipped nails. Again, the girlfriend wasn't pleased with the cost of the trim, especially since she can get her nails done as same or even less of a cost. I know pets can be expensive, I have a Russian Tortoise and do my best to keep it healthy. I don't know what the cost of services should be but for what it's worth the service provided seemed reasonable to me. If this is your first visit, there are 5 waiting spots out front in which you dial in to let them know you are here.

Not only did they respond to my previous review. But they failed to explain why an examination…read morecosts $113.50. -$98.50 (exam) -$15.00 (medical waste/consumables/disinfection) ...which tells me the $15 is for you guys to sanitize your workspace. Since there was no medical waste, or consumables. But yeah charge the customer $15 for sanitizing the workspace. Like you looked at my pet and looked at a chart history that I can understand too.... By the way, I took my pet to the Northampton Vet after the examination here, they noticed my pet having dry skin and provided me a much more detailed review. The East longmeadow Vet did not, checked heart rate and weight and billed me no further questions because that would cost $$$$$. Maybe Valerie the business manager isn't around to see how each examination is conducted, since the whole thing took less than 5 mins (which is how long it took to write my reviews). So don't thank me for taking the time to write it out, I'm just providing the same treatment :) PAY ATTENTION TO THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!

After my dog was attacked by another dog in the cramped hallway, no staff came to our aid…read more That day, I had spent over $400 to get a diagnosis and prescription for my dog's painful limp. Dr. Himmelstein gave me a prescription after the $300 exam and then when I tried to purchase it through their on line store, they refused to approve it. My dog is still limping and I can't afford a new vet with the new vet costs. Stay away from here.

After noting I missed the last few rabies vac, they asked if she's indoor or outdoor. I said she *used to be both*; but for the last 3 years now she's INDOOR--except for 30 second intervals when she goes out to do her business in the backyard and immediately returns while i watch & wait for her. The doctor then focused on herself; telling me she --the doctor-- cannot risk getting rabies. And therefore they really cannot do anything for me. Apparently they never heard of wearing gloves. And meanwhile my cat was in such severe pain as to be immobile! They also told me one of her ears was full of wax but again they could do nothing bc i'd missed the rabies vac. The doctor spent 10 MINUTES with us but most of that time was talking about the doctor not contracting rabies. I was sure there would be either no charge or à very nominal fee because they did nothing and now i had to go elsewhere. Boy was i wrong. That 10 minute lecture on keeping up with rabies vac, cost me $125. SHAMEFUL Spruce Hill. What a sham.

Do not see Dr. Henderson if you care about your pet…read more Our cat Milo was having seizures suddenly over the last 12 hours so we decided to take him to the vet. He was an overweight cat and the cause of the seizures was not diagnosed. After simply taking blood work and giving less than 20 min of an IV fluid, they stuffed him back in the cage and sent us on our way with a prescription for phenobarbital. No instructions other than how to give the cat the medicine, no goodbye, no thank you, and no advice on what to do if the seizures persisted. We administered the half a pill like we were told to do and he had another seizure 10 minutes later. We called the office to get advice and they basically said nothing. We left Milo to go get some yogurt to help him with his dosages for about 3 hours and when we got back he was dead on the floor under the bed. When we called back and told them our cat died they were completely unsympathetic, indifferent, and when Dr. H finally called back, said she "had never seen anything like this in 40 years. Why didn't they keep him until the blood work was complete, or load him with a higher dosage of the medication because he was a larger cat to prevent the seizures before they became fatal?! He was only 2 years old and if they were more specific about how much of a dosage we should have given him initially to get his treatment under way, or if they had given him some medication and enough of it to match his weight before we left the clinic, milo would still be with us today... TLDR: Dr Henderson doesn't care about your animals and if they die, Too bad, she doesn't know why and didn't care anyway. 40 years of veterinary practice for nothing!

‼PSA‼ only take your animal to this facility if it is a perfect outstanding animal…read more On June 2, 2026, I contacted Dakin Humane Society in Springfield MA about surrendering my dog and was told someone would follow up after I completed their intake paperwork. After reviewing my dog's information, including her anxiety medication and use of a muzzle during vet visits, a staff member called me on June 4 and reassured me multiple times that Dakin could accommodate her. I specifically asked whether they had space for her and whether her anxiety would be an issue, and I was told they would work with her and that euthanasia would not be necessary based on her file. They even made a special exception to schedule the surrender on Saturday, June 6. After my best friend drove my dog and I two hours to the facility, the staff member Lauren is who we met & She immediately focused on my dog's muzzle and informed me that if I surrendered her, she WOULD be euthanized because a "dog requiring a muzzle and medication for vet visits would not do well in this kind of environment." She stated that whoever had previously approved the surrender should have informed me of this sooner. When I asked if we could be present if euthanasia occurred, I was told no and was also told her body would not be released to me for cremation. She also mentioned that they call muzzles "party hats" so it seems to me that they do utilize muzzles at their facility. Throughout the interaction, my dog remained calm, approached Lauren willingly, and showed friendly interest despite being anxious. Lauren refused to interact with my dog. Feeling misled after receiving repeated assurances that Dakin could help her, I chose not to surrender my dog and told Lauren to go F herself & that they could all go F themselves. I believe Dakin has behavioral standards even though I was given multiple reassurances over several days, had my best friend drive my dog and I two hours based on those assurances, and then received completely different information upon arrival. After getting home I read more reviews of this place and they have MULTIPLE stating that they're KILLING and turning away animals because they don't fit their adoption standards.
