They have proven their dedication to the betterment of all animals and for 25 years my pets have been in their care through the most challenging situations from having a foreign object removed from my dogs small intestine to old age of both mother and son cats who lived over 15 years even after one was hit by a car. Dr John Perdrizet is one of the best, most caring, kindest, and gentle Veterinarians I have had the great fortune to meet. Upon entering his beautiful Victorian style office, a very positive and calming energy is all encompassing. He treats every pet as if they were his own. He gets on the floor with my little one, (who has had 2 spinal surgeries with partial paralysis of her left leg), and she is relaxed, knowing that someone with an incredibly loving heart is taking excellent care of her. Since beginning her acupuncture treatments, she has become noticeably stronger, walks much better, and is playful, although almost 11 years old! Professionals, family, and friends all have noticed the obvious positive difference in her since she has been receiving these acupuncture treatments. Some who didn't know about Dr. Perdrizet said she looked and was acting just great. They asked what I am doing differently! (I drive from Southern CT to Holyoke regularly to see him!) So I actually still take my dog here and I don't plan on changing but it's only because they have reasonable prices compared to everyone else in the area and they are only 2 blocks away from where I live. The vet is great but in order to get them to answer the phone to schedule an appointment it has to be a miracle. At times I've left message after message and don't get a call back for weeks and then when I actually do get a hold of them they always have some excuse, "oh we couldn't hear your name or number" now mind you I'm at the point where all I do is leave my name and number and ask to be called back. They need better customer service skills at the front desk and just seriously need to start answering their phone!!! read more

Their office is in a gorgeous Victorian home that welcomes you in and makes you feel like part of the family. The best part of the experience is working with Dr. Perdrizet. He talked to us like our dog was his dog. He gave us feedback on things no other vet ever has and he was extremely patient with every question and thought we shared. We were devastated when our Vet announced her retirement. For years we have brought our beloved but aged pup to a holistic Vet and worried we wouldn't be able to find another like her. After some research, we came across Dr. John Perdrizet at the Animal Sanctuary and were surprised to find that he was so close to home. Just a quick trip over the bridge from S. Hadley to Holyoke and we arrived. Much more convenient, as we had previously taken a 40 minute drive for our previous vet. This place is like no other. A restored Victorian serving as an animal clinic proves to be a very inviting and comfortable environment for both you and your pet. The staff are equally as welcoming and Dr. John has a very calm and laid back demeanor. We were very impressed with our first experience. Staff are thorough and accommodating. Dr. John definitely has a special way with animals and demonstrated a vast knowledge and experience in his field. He picked up on things right away and gave us great advice moving forward to help prolong and add to our dog's quality of life. Our pet took to him during the exam, even licking his hand while getting his nails trimmed - something my husband and I have never witnessed during the almost 13 years of having him. Another positive was the cost of the visit - very affordable in comparison to other places we have been. Terrible. My puppy was having a seizure so I called this office as she had an appointment the following week to become a new patient. Rather than being given any help I was lectured by the woman that answered because I had (inadvertently) called the emergency line and seizures are apparently not what they consider emergent. I was never given an option to make an appointment and was instead told they "can't help" and that I should call someone else. read more

I took my dog to The Animal Sanctuary yesterday on the recommendation from a friend who thinks the world of Dr. Perdrizet. My dog has a tumor in his mouth and I wanted a second opinion about what kind of surgery he needs. I called on Monday and spoke to a very nice woman at the front desk who patiently listened to me explain my situation and then made me an appointment for Wednesday. When I arrived at the clinic my dog, who is a little shy, remained calm and even seemed a little curious to check out the place. This is because the environment is calm and peaceful and the staff is very kind and reassuring. They allowed my dog to roam around the examination room and offered him homemade dog cookies. The clinic itself is amazing! It is in a beautiful converted mansion and really something to see. Dr. Perdrizet was great with my dog and very clear and straightforward in his diagnosis. He was patient and empathetic and laid out all the options and what they mean, as well as how much each would cost. They took some blood and the lab results should be back within 24 to 48 hours, which in my experience is very fast. The prices are incredibly reasonable and, as I said, everything is laid out beforehand so there are no surprises when the bill comes. My dog is in for a difficult road ahead and I am relieved to have found a vet that I feel confident in to give my dog the best care and help me make the right decisions every step of the way. read more
