Full Disclosure: I haven't seen him in YEARS but when I saw his name on YELP, I had to write a review. I saw him in his office at least 4 or 5 times before deciding I had had enough. My biggest complaint was how lax the staff was with basic disinfection techniques. I was getting blood taken and the nurse didn't use anything on my arm before to wipe it, I stopped her and asked about alcohol to clean the skin (especially after she put the syringe down on the counter, didn't wash her hands, and used no gloves) and her attitude was, "OK, I guess." I had a ultrasound of the heart done IN THE OFFICE and was disgusted that there was a curly hair left on my chest from the wand from the pervious patient. I can only hope it was from a chest and not a testicular ultrasound. Clearly they didn't clean it between patients. The last issue is with the doctor himself. I was waiting in a room and could hear him arguing/yelling with a patient in the next room. When he finally came in to my room he was still very angry and I sure could tell. He was short and I can't say I was frightened but very uncomfortable with his anger level from the previous patient. read more

Dr. Speros Hampilos is by far, without a doubt, the worst doctor I have ever had the misfortune of meeting, and absolutely traumatized me. I went to see him for ANXIETY, and had a panic attack when he drew blood (I'm intensely needle-phobic, and I warned him about this ahead of time). Not only did he mock, threaten, and cuss me out while i was suffering, I overhead him complaining to his staff about how he "doesn't have time for this" (funny, pretty sure I'm paying you for your time). Yes, I have a phobia, but I can usually handle it with a few kind words and a sympathetic nurse. Hampilos compounded my fears, and seemed to delight in my panic. When I tried to get my results, they told me that I could only get my bloodwork if i actually went to another appointment. I declined and said they could send them to me or I could pick them up personally. They tried to tell me I wasn't allowed to do that. Excuse me? I paid for these results. It's illegal to withhold my medical records (second HIPPA violation committed during my FIRST experience with them). After a threat and a namedrop of HIPPA, I got a call from Speros, who sarcastically told me they would be at the front desk "since I don't feel comfortable with him". Seriously, there is a REASON there are so many horrible reviews about this monster. Remember, I went to him for ANXIETY, and let me tell you, it's gotten much worse since my experience with this sadistic jerk. Oh, and he was 45 minutes late. read more

Dr. Hampilos is a good doctor, with great bedside manner. Here is the skinny: The good: Super friendly staff, DO and not MD so you are treated as a person and not a symptom, clean and well-lit The bad: Expensive, and wants TONS of tests that aren't really necessary. The Vitamin D test cost over $200 and we weren't told about the cost until we were billed by the lab. The Doc wants monthly visits, and if you aren't sick there is no reason for this. If I were older and in worse health I would choose him over any other. The skinny: Good for geriatrics, heck... great for geriatrics. Doctor Hampilos actually listens to you and sees you every time you go in. There isn't much more you can ask from a doctor. If my grandmother lived in the area he would be her doctor. read more

The office staff and doctor are not worth your time. My husband has been sick for 3 weeks now and has called to try and get in again to have his blood work read. He already has an appt. in 2 weeks for a wellness appt. The doctor told him to wait for that appt. Did I mention he went in 3 weeks ago not feeling good and still is not feeling good. Why would you make him wait 2 more weeks. Needless to say we have found another doctor at this point. The scheduling is ridiculous and the staff and doctor don't care about you. Yeah, I agree with the other reviews that this office was uncomfortable and unprofessional. I was a patient for about a year, and at first i liked it (Dr Speros is a NY-e, and is blunt and right to the point), but things got uncomfortable fast. Many assumptions were being made regarding my ailments(general fatigue) and somehow things snowballed into me getting pressured to have testosterone injections in my stomach at 250 bucks a pop (i was 26yrs old at the time). Since then I've found a new doctor, had some extensive blood work done, starting taking a few natural vitamins and minerals, adjusted my diet and sleep, and am feeling great!! All in all, I recommend skipping this office! read more

Worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. He talks down to his patients and staff!!! I asked him a few questions about the medication he wanted to prescribe me and his response was literally, "dont worry about that" "just do what I tell you". When I rolled my eyes at his attitude towards me and voiced my frustration, he got ruder and hurried me out the door. His is very unprofessional. He must have dropped the f-bomb 4 times. I walked out of his office in shock. I cannot understand how he is still in business. I will never go back to him and I will make it a point to post as many reviews of him as I can because people need to beware of "doctors" such as Dr. Hampilos. read more

I love Dr. H.! I've been a patient in excess of 15 years, as he took over the practice of my previous D.O. who died in a plane crash. In fact, I paid him cash for a year as he was not part of my insurance plan. He is an excellent diagnostician (infection of the chest cartilage, huh?) on a brief description. He does call it as he sees it, and can be abrupt, but he's also compassionate and I've often gotten a hug. I'm prone to serious bronchitis, and he always does his best to keep me out of the hospital. Yep, he may use profanity occasionally, and he does tell you that you are paying for his advice, it's up to you if you take it (and gets a bit feisty if you don't.) Nonetheless, I've always been able to see him when I need to, he keeps me in good health, and I've never had an issue with the staff. He's definitely not for everyone, but he's sure the doctor for me. read more

I really can't understand these negative reviews, In all these years he has been the best Doctor , good diagnostician, and has always treated me with respect and care. Please avoid this place. The staff is rude and unhelpful. They won't know why you are there for an appointment. After waiting 45 minutes AFTER my appointment time, the Dr. told me my labs looked great when I hadn't had blood work done in months because he wasn't actually looking at the chart. Let me preface by saying that I have worked in the Dental/Medical profession for over 35 years and this was the worst experience I have ever had. First I had to wait over one month for my appointment date and was contacted the previous day to confirm this. When I arrived I was given the usual paperwork to fill out. My appointment was at 4:00 and I had arrived at 3:45 so I would have the paper work filled out prior to my appointment. My appointment time came and went and many patients had come in after me but were being called back to the exam rooms. At 4:30 I was called to the front desk and asked if I could come back tomorrow as the Dr. was running behind. I explained that I had been waiting for over a month for the appointment and I don't have the type of job that I can take off without notice. I was told to have a seat but I would be waiting a long time. About 15 minutes later a blonde-haired woman in regular attire (the office manager I presumed) called me to the front desk again. She then asked "What was I there for"? Really? She stated that they had 7 patients waiting and that I wouldn't be seen until 7 pm but that they closed at 5pm?? I responded that this was a scheduling issue and that I couldn't come back tomorrow. She looked at me shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Basically she was saying you can wait but your not going to be seen. I was shocked, appalled and disgusted. Why there is a month long wait in such an inept office is beyond me. The lack of professionalism is something I have never witnessed before. I did not see Dr. Hampilos but the actions of his unprofessional and unorganized staff certainly reflects on what kind of office he runs. After reading some of the other posts here I see my experience is tame compared to others. Don't walk away from this office..RUN!! read more

Dr. Spero Hampilos is one of the rudest most disrespectful doctors I have had the misfortune to encounter. I was sick with a really bad sinus infection that I had for a week. Mind you by the time I called his office (which I thought was an after hours number) at 4am to see what I should do since I started coughing up phlegm tinged with blood, I receive a call back from him 2 days later chastising me for calling his personal cell phone at 4am. I then go into his office and he comes in with an attitude, after trying to speak to him and inform him I was unaware as a new patient (this was my 3rd visit with him) I was unaware of office policy so I apologize but that I will not tolerate being spoken to in that manner by doctor to patient, this guy became extremely irate and informed me I should see a new doctor. Not sure how this man is still in business. His staff is basically scared of him but I'm sure not. Gave him some very choice words and walked out of that office! read more
