The parking lot is secure. You need a key card to enter the main parking lot- this was a concern of mine from staying in Bakersfield hotels in the past due to so many reviews saying their cars were broken into. I at least felt more secure about parking my car here. The front desk was present when I walked in and got me checked in and out with my card in less than 2 minutes (I booked via Expedia and prepaid), I just needed to swipe my card for incidentals. The room had two double (full) beds, which is waaay too small for 4 people, and the windows don't open. We were in room 309 which overlooked the pool. The thing my kids really liked was the tv connects to WiFi and you can connect to YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. we've been to many hotels and no hotel ever had that. The breakfast consisted of oatmeal in a crockpot, oranges, apples, bananas, muffins, hard boiled eggs, cereal, sausage, omelets, and potatoes. They also had a coffee set up with hot chocolate packets. I'm unsure if coffee is available 24hrs, but it seems like it. They also have a mini convenience store next to the front desk with paper plates and plastic utensils- which was nice for warming up leftovers. Saw no bugs and my socks didn't turn black while walking around the hotel room so that was a plus.

Mini Belgian waffles. 2 cinnamon and 2 buttermilk

A lot of people know that the Hampton Inn has a pretty good decent free breakfast. I could have had potatoes but I had left over garlic rice. All the rooms have a mini fridge and a microwave so I was able to reheat any laefovers I had that would go with my breakfast. I had chicken sausage patties, mini omelettes with diced peppers, make your own Belgian waffles. I made four minis because they offered two different batters. They had buttermilk and the other had cinnamon mixed in. Everything I had was good. Of course I love the all day free coffee. The main reason why I chose to stay here... It's reasonably priced, rooms are clean even though it's pet friendly, and... It has gated secure parking. The other places I was looking at didn't sound that safe and I didn't want to have to worry about the rental car at night.

I must say this was my first time actually staying in Bakersfield and I was honestly surprised that…read morethe Marriott was completely booked! Granted it looked like all construction workers because there was nothing else but oversized trucks in their parking lot! My fiancé Googled "clean hotel without bed bugs" and Padre Hotel came up first! Their online reviews were great and we were exhausted and needed to rest! We pulled into their valet parking just to drop off our things. As my fiancé parked the car, across the street in the over night garage, I was able to get a Single King room on a Monday night for $159. As we walked into our room #701, it was rather small, but fine since it was just the two of us. As I sat on the bed, it was actually hard! Yay!!!! I can't STAND soft beds and rather sleep on the floor! Haha no joke! Then my fiancé went into the restroom and suddenly he tapped on something glass sounding as I was turning ing on the tv..... I noticed there was a curtain by the bed, so I pulled it across and lo and behold by the bed was the shower and just a curtain the person from the outside of the shower could open/close as they please..... hee. We also had a mini fridge in the room along with a desk and chair. We had planned on staying one night, but got inside LA, and we figured we'd extend our stay. Upon doing so, we went downstairs the next day and asked if there was a deal if we could stay 3-4 days, and sure enough there was!!!! It's always great to see what happens once you ask! Hee. We got a larger room with a corner room location, I forgot the room number, but the restroom was larger and had a separate wall between the toilet and shower area, so if someone was in the shower, someone else could use the toilet and not be seen. This longer hotel room also had a chaise lounge chair and a better view of their downtown area, granted a lot of the places have closed. Overall, I honestly loved our stay here! It reminded me of a county version of The Fairmont SF! They constantly played new aged country music in the lobby! Then on Fridays and Saturdays there was a live band or singer in the bar area! I love how they had a community aspect to the hotel with some local live entertainment!!! My fiancé also loved watching The Knicks play on the bar tv with other people at the bar! Hee. Oh and they had an adorable coffee shop that made Ready To Order items downstairs too! See my review at Farmacy Cafe, but too freaking too! Country SHREK! Hee We will definitely be back again!!!!!

The rooms are sound proof which is nice because it is connected to a concert venue. There are also a lot of conventions there. The rooms are super clean and very comfortable. They are a nice size and we loved our bathroom. We had a sofa and a desk and all we needed was there. They also have an eatery which is really good. We loved the pool and the fitness room. What really stood out for us was the maid service, the rooms were spotless and the front desk staff who know everything about, well, everything Bakersfield. You can't go wrong here.

It's a centralized location, walking distance for restaurants. But I can't say I was happy with the stay. Meh. Unfortunately there were a few issues. To start, our keys didn't work upon check in, so we had to run back downstairs to get a new set. The showerhead was disappointing as the water pressure was subpar and the settings also left something to be desired. We did not have maid service for over 8 hours on Saturday which posed an inconvenience for our schedule in the afternoon. There was a clog in the shower/tub drain, and one of the light bulbs in the room didn't work. There was a nearby train which could be heard in the room. On the plus side, they did have some car charging stations in the parking lot for a fee (ugh). Nothing much stood out about the staff, either in a good way or bad way. We weren't in the room enough for these things to derail our visit but the overall experience left something to be desired.

During a stay in late February 2026 (Room 432), I encountered live roaches in the room and checked out immediately (2 days into a 4-day stay). That alone was bad enough, but what followed was worse. At checkout, I asked the front desk clerk, Lydia, if this had been reported before and was told it was "not the first time." I expected management to follow up, but no one reached out. After multiple attempts, I finally spoke with the manager (Cal), who told me the issue was not isolated and blamed their pest control vendor. He also said he had tried to contact me but didn't have my number, which didn't make sense given that my contact information is provided at check-in. I tried to resolve this through IHG Diamond Services starting January 30. While they initially responded, the case stalled while waiting on the hotel. I eventually escalated to executive-level review and never received any response at all. Nearly two months later, there is still no resolution. I travel frequently for work, stay at IHG properties often, and don't write reviews like this lightly. A serious room issue is one thing, but the complete lack of follow-through and accountability is what stands out. Disappointing experience overall.

But between the lack of clean sheets and the barely functioning door....... There was alot of sketchy people hanging around. I guess hanging out in the parking lot and smoking weed is what they do in Lamont on a Monday night. When I turned in the keys the next morning I told the desk clerk about the broken door and non functional deadbolt she just sighed and said in a quiet defeated voice "oh.......ok" like she heard it numerous times before. Found the fitness center and the treadmill worked. Water refill worked. Fitness center was clean and there were towels available. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty (early start time of 5 am on weekdays). I enjoyed oatmeal with brown sugar, cranberries and slivered almonds; also tried the chia pudding.
