Stayed here for 7 nights for work. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast each morning got the spot before walking out the door. The shower was also very nice and spacious. They have a pool but I didn't visit. I'm sure this hotel is packed on Homecoming weekend. A few wedding parties were booked here as well.

The great: We almost booked through a third party website because it looked like it was $20 cheaper but we ended up reviewing the discount tab on the Inn at Jim Thorpe website and noticed a 15% discount if we booked over the phone. Booking over the phone saved us about $50. The staff was kind, professional and helpful over the phone and in person. They even gave us fresh baked cookies when we checked in. The inn is an old, crickety building and the rooms are small but clean. There's a stairwell and small elevator once you're inside the building. I don't know if there was a handicap entrance into the building. The parking lot was easy to find but it is quite narrow, which should be expected in an old building/old town. Ice and a filtered water fountain is located in the basement and they have a vending machine too if you're looking for a late night snack or sweet treat. The not so great: One thing did feel misleading. The staff said the restaurant attached to it ( Broadway something or other) is the only place that serves breakfast & they require reservations. The Inn even provides a $10 off per person coupon for the restaurant but we found a few options for Nitro cold brew, coffee, tea and baked goods right down the block. Personally, this felt like sales tactic to make us think breakfast would be scarce. Maybe that's the case during peak tourism season but it didn't seem to be the case when we were in town. Overall we'd definitely stay here again. Between the trails, the cool architecture and the good food, we found Jim Thorpe to be a fun place to explore.

Live entertainment both nights (fri & sat) with some good specialty drinks. The bartender Tyler was AWESOME. He made our night more fun than we expected. Upstairs bar was good enough, but Tyler downstairs was the best. Other bartenders had little to no personality. The one even seemed annoyed we were ordering drinks? Strange. Both nights we ate dinner at the restaurant, Broadway Grill on the main level. First night was good... second night was a complete 180. Breakfast was good both mornings we ate there. You do need reservations for breakfast which was easy to do online. Plus a $10 off per person each day at breakfast for staying at the Inn. The second night they ran out of the most basic side - rice. still put mushrooms in a pasta dish that was repeatedly asked not to be put in there. A side of fries that were supposed to come out with a meal was supposed to be delivered soon after.... But another persons meal was sent back (awful taste to the chicken parm) and fries were given in place of the meal. Still no fries for the other person. Dry salmon but the sauce saved it. Mashed potatoes cold. The manager was very understanding & i appreciated her kindness. The waitresses were all very nice too. Overall - I'd still go back during another season as we were here in winter & not much was open. I'd stay here again and just plan for dinner elsewhere.

We stayed in Room 10 which features a king size bed and a large soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was sizable. We always felt like there was a lot of space to unwind and relax when we were in our room. We were offered the Fall menu when we were there. On day 1 I had the apple crumble French toast (AMAZING) and I'm not even a big French toast guy. Your table has fresh orange juice, water, and coffee/tea when you come down and get seated. Loved this. On day 2 I had the traditional breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was friendly and accommodating - as expected from a well run B&B. We were on site for a small gathering of gamer friends and so I also tried some of their offerings in the small cafe. I tried Italian wedding soup for lunch and got several hot tea drinks. All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the most visitor-focused B&B we've had the pleasure of staying in. It sounds obvious to say that, but it his place really puts your money to work to make you enjoy your stay. Thank you!

The owner's were delightful, hospitable, and fascinating to engage in conversation with but for the price and condition of the older building I was looking forward to checking out and getting to a normal hotel with all the amenities and just have a more modern and relaxing experience. We decided to take a motorcycle ride…read moreto Crystal Cave in nearby Kutztown, PA, and when researching local places to stay on the internet, Landhaven popped up. It was close to our destination (on the same route, actually) and had good reviews in several sites. The website, photos, room descriptions etc looked nice, and the prices were competitive with chain hotels in the area. We wanted to avoid the really small "Bates Motel" type places, and liked that Landhaven was locally owned, part of a historic general store, and had nice amenities as well as quirky charm. We did not make a reservation in advance (though the website said all rooms were available). Instead, we thought we would rest the motorcycle (and our butts), visit Landhaven and get a sense of it before deciding to stay. Landhaven is a B&B built around an historic general store, and they've kept the store, items, decorations and features from when it was originally built in the late 1800s. Landhaven is positioned at a 4-way stop in the small, quaint Huff's Church village near Barto, PA. As we arrived, we parked the motorcycle and approached the B&B and were greeted by Donna Land who invited us in. We discussed our destination and that we were considering staying there for 1 night, and Donna was very engaging, no hard sell, listened for a while and took us on a short tour. Mrs. F and I had time pressure to get to Crystal Cave before it closed, so after jawing with Donna for a bit, we decided to stay. We paid Donna with Amex via a Square payment processor, exchanged some basic info about our return time and breakfast in the morning, and we were back on the motorcycle headed to nearby Crystal Cave. Fun fact: Because one of us snores like a chainsaw (I won't say whom), Mrs. F and I treated ourselves to 2 rooms at Landhaven. Mrs. F stayed in the Bittenbender Room, and I opted for the Pilgert Room. Expensive, yes... but also a fun way to experience the unique features of each room, which featured wonderful ambiance, quality beds, and great bathrooms with sauna showers, whirlpool tubs, and more. We had free Wi-Fi that worked quickly and well. The only amenity missing from each room was television... and frankly, that was part of the fun! Well, Mrs. F and I motorcycled away, and had a great time at Crystal Cave, a little tour of Kutztown, PA (during Move In Weekend at Kutztown University), and had great meals at Saucony Creek Craft Brewery before arriving back at Landhaven before dark. Driving back on the motorcycle, there was a big event with a live band at the local church down the road (Donna called it a picnic). We could have easily walked to the party, but we were exhausted from riding all day. When we returned for the evening, Donna and Ed Land greeted us, we talked for a bit about what time we wanted breakfast, and then retired to our rooms for the night. The next morning, Donna cooked us a delicious breakfast, clearly made from scratch. Mrs. F, Donna and I sat for a hour and talked most pleasantly over breakfast (Ed had gone to Bethlehem, PA to teach a blacksmithing class). The Landhaven experience was friendly and low key... Donna and Ed do a great job of maintaining the ambiance and amenities of Landhaven, but they don't take themselves too seriously... which we deeply appreciated. Some bed and breakfast places can be "too clever by half" and be a turnoff. Not Landhaven! It combined uniqueness, charm and amenities with a welcoming atmosphere of just plain folks. As Mrs. F and I rode away from Landhaven, we felt we got a good value, as well as a special lodging experience that made our weekend adventure into a great memory. If you're in the region, give Landhaven a chance to work its charm on you.

I live in Arlington and she lives in Chantilly. My wife and I had planned to go up and stay elsewhere as my daughter had elected to go with a friend and her friend's mother. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend with them because she became very ill, yet still needs to compete. I called around to various hotels, but all that was left at the major chains were King beds into which a rollaway bed wasn't permitted due to fire safety concerns. So, I called The Gables and spoke to Cesar, the owner. I explained to him the situation and asked if we'd be able to stay at the hotel past checkout so that my daughter could sleep as long as possible in hopes that she'd feel better. Not only did he allow us to stay as long as necessary, but he put me in contact with his sister, Jeannette, who would be in charge when I arrived. I explained the situation to her and she was waiting at the hotel when we arrived. Immediately she took my daughter up to our room while I brought in the luggage and completed check in with her. She provided a brief tour of the area and showed me where I could find tea, hot water, and other things to make my daughter more comfortable. She also kindly offered a glass of wine since I'd just completed a three hour drive. As we're checking out today, I inquired how late we could stay and both Cesar and Jeannette said not to worry. Cesar even offered that Jeannette had previously worked in healthcare and to let her know if we needed any medicine. To say that they've been accommodating is an understatement. The team here at The Gables is the best service I've experienced in years and I'm only giving 5 stars because I can't give more. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel itself is phenomenal. Thank you so much to Cesar, Jeannette, and the team here - you all really outdid yourselves. We will certainly return!

Most people usually don't like to work out on vacations so hotels try to get away with putting 3 dumbbells and an elliptical in a room and claiming they offer a "gym" on their facilities. This place was much better than usual! I got a great workout in before the festivities There is also a nice indoor pool with a hot tub that my kids took full advantage of. They had a lot of fun with all the other kids at the hotel. Room was nice and spacious and there was a private balcony that led to the back of the cabin with a nice view of the woods. Only reason we didn't hit that 5 star was because of the weird layout. The rooms were at a different location from all the amenities so after we were done swimming, we kinda had to wrap up and walk in the freezing cold to the other area to reach our room. The bathroom was also kinda small Other than that, it was a great stay! The staff was super friendly and we were very comfortable.
