Inside the room, looking out toward the neighborhood

My daughter and I traveled to New Jersey for a fast visit to family. We arrived at the hotel about 7pm after having been on a Tran for 9 hours from North Carolina. We were welcomed in by the friendliest front desk lady! She was so inviting! She recommended a local eatery, but we chose to order in so we could unpack and relax. The lobby was gorgeous, shiny floors, clean, and spacious! We rode the elevator to our floor and walked into a small room...but the bathroom was huge! Everything was clean, smelled good, and the beds were so very comfortable!!! They were soft, clean, and had plenty of pillows. We did not have a room facing the river, but we did overlook a nice little neighborhood. The breakfast buffet the next morning was crowded, but the attendants kept the food coming out. There were two waffle makers, cold cereals, fresh eggs and potatoes, fruits, muffins, bagels, breads for toast, and then hot coffee and tea. There was a variety of juices, and milk. We did find a table, and ate our fill. We stayed only two nights, but we were very comfortable there. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling into Newark or Kearny. The only criticism I have is that they should really try to offer a shuttle from the airport and train station. We got an Uber without any trouble, but since it is only about a two minute ride, a shuttle would be nice!! But we would definitely stay here again! Thanks for the welcome and for the great stay!

NOT CLEAN! And noisy! The 1 star is for Wesley's professionalism, ONLY! ALTHOUGH it sure did seem like he was getting his "friend" into a room for free!!! Wesley was very pleasant and talkative with us all while there was a young man his age, loitering in the lobby the whole time. When Wesley came up in the elevator with ALL of us, he only spoke to US. I just know. Too much to write to explain. MORE BAD! 1. Expedia said parking was included, but they charged us $15/night UNLESS we could prove it! Waste my time! 2. The room looked like it had been partied in!Lampshades were crooked. Stickers on doors and mirrors peeled and/or peeling off. 3. Dust, dirt and HAIR beside the sink. 4. 4-5 Tissues had been pulled out of the box and JAMMED back in (touching them during COVID)! 5. Glass in microwave had something spilled in it and was sticky. 6. The pillows on the KING bed were cheap, stained, and only STANDARD size! NOT EVEN QUEEN! We booked for 2 nights, but RAN out of that place first thing on the morning. Our money may be lost, and it will surely cost me $150 of work time to rectify and/or contact them for help. TRULY unfortunate when business could use the patronage. NO MORE HILTON! VERRRY INCONSISTANT throughout their propert

if you stay at this hotel or you're in the area, come to the bar and see Gino! There is a cute little garden patio set up and he makes the most beautiful drinks

These ppl gave me a dirty room and expect me to be ok with it!! Lets rewind here, last night I stayed here and was told I could NOT EXTEND MY STAY. That I needed to make a new reservation and would have to change rooms. So I asked for a late check out. She said 1pm was the latest because they were booked. I said ok. I was extremely tired and really wanted sleep. I didn't get in until 5:30am. And the main reason I wanted it extended was to continue sleeping. But No. So I checked out. Around 2 pm I called and asked for a price quote for another night. I specifically asked him about the description of the rooms. Because I wanted the larger room. He seemed very unfamiliar with the rooms but was still somewhat helpful & remained pleasant/ The gentlemen I spoke to also gave me a quote but it was $40 cheaper via Expedia. So I booked a NEW RESERVATION thru Expedia. Remember, I checked out at 1pm, bc I was told I wouldn't be able to same in the SAME ROOM. And that almost all rooms/ suites were booked. So now Im back at the Hotel ..."CHECKING IN" with a NEW RESERVATION & Deposit. She tells me the room number, I said oh Im in the same room? They told me I wouldn't get the same room... thats why I checked out. She said no, u have the same room. Is that a problem? I told her No. For the 45 min that I slept, I slept well. Ok, so Boom, plz tell me why I walked into a dirty, my same room bc these ppl LAZY!! I said hold up! I checked out Remember? When u check out of anywhere, they clean the room. They were even knocking on my door at checkout time. So yea, It was time to go! I was told I couldn't stay in the same room. I called 2x!! Just to make sure bc I was extremely exhausted. Hypothetically, if I had a new man on both nights. Wouldn't I want my beds cleaned? Especially since they are both technically NEW RESERVATIONS. My Man would be like "who tf h had up in here?" My issue is them Blatantly acting like this is Normal and I did something wrong. That Housekeeping does not clean a room if a customer continuously stays. But again, . I CHECKED OUT!! I made a new reservation. I deserved a CLEANED ROOM!! I was told I had to leave my current room and return at 4‼ I packed up all my stuff. 2 suitcases. And waited to return. So why tf was the purpose of me leaving? When I really could have stayed? This is not on me but Management. The receptionist says "the Manager probably saw you had already stayed the night before and told housekeeping not to clean it". Now that is absurd, unprofessional and LAZY. We are a family of 4. When we initially arrived we had 2 towels. No wash cloths. So when I CHECKED BACK IN, I specifically asked for more towels, before I even knew we were checking back into the SAME dirty room. She hands me 2 bath towels. 1 wash rag. Like be for real‍ Idk the woman's name at the desk but she too Nonchalant for me. Aint nothing funny. Her response was Housekeeping is closed. There are no other suites available. And called housekeeping for more towels and a pillow‍ Oooh. So housekeeping is here? Okay. I've never stayed in an "Inn" before but this my last visit. Ive never stayed at a hotel that didn't clean. Even during the Pandemic u could request a cleaning. But that was when u stayed numerous nights, continuously. I could've been anyone. Or my husband could hv put the hotel in his name. Does that mean he is unworthy of a cleaned room bc we stayed the night prior? And all they keep saying is u extended your stay... whole time. i have a new reservation number from EXPEDIA. Ma'am, thats a new booking. If u Lazy and tryna Justify it just say that

We booked this hotel as it had a pool (we were happy to pay more as we were coming from a long haul flight and wanted to relax in the pool). The pool was closed for maintenance!!! There was nothing on their website about the pool being closed. It was really disappointing, and their solution to the problem was that we can book another hotel if we want??? I don't think that was a solution. If we had known the pool was closed we would have booked a different hotel and it would have also been much cheaper. The outside area doesn't look at all like the pictures, it's run down, the umbrella broken, no chairs or sun loungers to relax. The chairs in the breakfast area are stained and look dirty. The hotel is next to a railways which is really loud when trains go by. Not a great neighborhood either. Overall not a good experience. I contacted their customer service on guest.correspondence@hilton.com nearly 10 days ago and they have been completely useless, which just proves how much they care about their customers.

One thing to start is if you're staying there pull i to their parking lot and see if you can find a spot before paying. The lot is very small and on one occasion we were stuck trying to get our for over an hour by a car that made its own spot and blocked us in. On our most recent visit only one of the two main elevators were working and had a very long wait. We ended up going to the elevator bay in and attached building which required taking our bags up or down a flight of stairs. The standard room is very standard. Chair, bed, dresser and a tight bathroom. Since our last visit the had put in motion lights in the bathroom. However it was facing the door way and on a two minute timer. Meaning while taking a shower and getting ready for bed the light turned off multiple times and we had to leave the door open to see anything. On both stays our room smelled of cigarette smoke. We ended up turning ofd the heat and opening the window to air it out before heading to dinner. Upon our return the smell was still lingering and I ended up using spray hand sanitizer on the fabric wallpaper to neutralize the sent a bit more. We noted that bedding didn't feel like it had a blanket really at all. Our room was near the elevator bay and we heard the ding every time the elevator stopped on our floor through the night. One high note was that the towels were very soft. It'll do if you need to be downtown but I would recommend checking other places for availability first.

I was mislead by the reviews as well as the price for parking onsite each day. From checkin to checkout, customer service was blunt, nonchalant, and unwelcoming. Our reward status was not recognized, addresses, or mentioned. Also, when I complained about the cold temperature in both rooms that I booked, my complaints were downplayed, and condescended. My complaints were not addressed and my bill was not comped in any way, despite reporting that the room was cold each day. We were out of the room majority of each day, so we made the best of our trip during the short stay. Again, I do not recommend this hotel. This hotel is a negative reflection of Marriott Bonvoy, and does not value customer service.

The first room we were assigned smelled like acetone / strong cleaning chemicals. Kinda like they were trying to clean up the smell of cigarettes or maybe a biohazard. The second room thankfully didn't have that smell. But the heater didn't work and didn't get over 70 degrees, which definitely sucked in the middle of December. On top of all this, the hotel falsely charged us 7.40$ for a breakfast that we never ate. I noticed it as I was reviewing my credit card statement. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD when you stay here, but honestly just don't stay here.

The lobby is beautiful--clean, modern, and exactly what you see in the photos. That's actually what led me to book the hotel. However, the rooms are a completely different story. When we checked in, I specifically asked if there were more updated rooms, since I assumed the hotel might have renovated sections. The front desk staff member was very kind and helpful, but the first room we were given was in really poor condition--chipped paint everywhere, a bad smell in the bathroom, and visible mold in the vent. It felt neglected and far from clean. We asked to switch rooms and were told the only options were the 10th floor or the 1st floor. Since the 10th floor looked just as worn down, we chose the 1st floor. The staff member did warn us it might be noisy due to the pool and said the pool closed at 8 PM, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, the noise was not from the pool. There was constant yelling, screaming, and doors slamming throughout the night. It felt chaotic and made it very difficult to relax or sleep. The second room was still in rough shape--more chipped paint, run-down finishes, and the towels were dry and rough. At times, the room even smelled like cigarette smoke, likely coming from a nearby room, which was really unpleasant. I do want to note that every staff member we interacted with was extremely kind and professional. This is clearly not a reflection of them--they were doing their best. The issue is the condition of the property itself. Overall, this hotel feels more like a rundown motel with a very nice lobby. I would not recommend staying here unless you are okay with outdated, poorly maintained rooms.

The carpets have dark stains all the way along the middle of the hall with bleach spots the size of your suitcase. We agreed the halls smell like beef stroganoff and cleaning products. The rooms have a completely different smell. It is equally unpleasant but we couldn't agree on what it was. The walls clearly had been punched through. They didn't bother to paint over the drywall patches. The bathtub revealed many short, curly hairs moving in the water. No one had cleaned this room. After finding a working outlet in the bathroom, I tried making a cup of coffee. Five minutes of stirring and the creamer kept bobbing and swirling in a pretty disturbing pattern. Go to the restaurant for your coffee. Or leave. The view from our dirty window was a garbage filled parking lot filled with broken cars. The snack bar downstairs has a small selection of packaged foods. The espresso in the restaurant downstairs was perfectly acceptable. Good news: there was a big bed that seemed very clean. We got to sleep after a long international flight. We checked for cameras and found nothing. We have no idea why it cost us almost $200 plus a huge ripoff from a very scary taxi driver to get this, but maybe I can save you the "hey, it's a place to sleep decision." Pay a bit more and stay somewhere with a shuttle and cursory understanding of of basic cleaning standards.
