I would like to start off by thanking the staff at this hotels for helping our group and never making us feel unwelcome. I stayed at this hotel last week for 5 days with an International group of 70+ kids who did not speak English. The manager and the staff treated us great. We booked 30+ rooms and the process was seamless thanks for the hotel manager Ashish. I forgot to highlight the great breakfast they have. The mattress was broken you could feel the springs on your back there were Dirty sheets, dirty floor, dirty shower with dirt. my mother woke up with a rash from the dorty bed. The breakfast is absolutely horrendous and customer service is disrespectful. Oh and by the way I stayed there on thanksgiving day with my elderly parents and was charged $200 for "smoking". I will never consider comfort suites as an option ever again. Be careful staying here they are scammers!! I stayed at this hotel pre-covid and I am well aware that things change, like staffing and upkeep. I also realize that this is a budget hotel. however, My recent stay there sealed the deal of never staying there again. The overall safety, cleanliness of the hotel, maintenance and response to concerns lacked a great deal. Also, processes are not followed which could have resulted in a big issue/concern. Fantastic service and wonderful staff. Stayed there while traveling in a tour with the show Ghost Stories and Mindreader. They were very accommodating with our large staff and easy to work with. The service was amazing but the room have dirty spots on the bed and also blood on the sheets. I took my time to search the room and when I looked under my bed I saw to nail clippings, plastic forks scattered EVERYWHERE, and I weird white powdered substance. If I could put a 0 star review I would. But I guess I have to do a 1 star. The first night we came I woke up with bruises, I didn't sleep with anyone. The sheets looked dirty as if they hadn't cleaned them since the last people who were in there, or even longer. The second day no room service expect for when our sink wouldn't stop leaking water as their sinks are broken. The third day room service came to clean, and I didn't suspect anything had gone missing since we were here to visit the city. I was out almost all day and only came back to sleep. The last day I stayed I soon realized my shoes had gone missing (black air-forces) that my grandma had gotten me as they were my only pair of shoes beside my slippers. I went to the front desk and they were acting suspicious trying to blame me, instead of helping. They didn't even check cameras using excuses saying they couldn't. My friends aunt also had a purse stolen from her which had more than a 100 in it. Worst hotel ever! Do not go here unless you want to wake up in a messy room with bruises and get your expensive stuff stolen. read more

This place is no different than a $40 roach motel. It's in a bad area mainly known for drugs, trafficking, and prostitution. In addition to car break-ins that have happened in this hotel before. I booked a reservation here by mistake. They advertise as Harrison-NWK, but are in Newark. They charge $11 per night for parking. Enjoy paying for parking and getting your car broken into, that's the PERK. When I walked in, there were people at the front of the hotel doing drugs. I walked in and told the supervisor who was with a customer service rep, named Leah, behind the desk. The supervisor went outside and told the people there not to do drugs at the hotel and they left. I told my friend who was checking in with me "this is a garbage hotel". Leah at the front desk said, "I don't effing appreciate you talking about MY hotel like this. So I'm NOT honoring your reservation. I want you to get the F out for disrespecting this hotel." The supervisor was there. I asked how am I disrespecting the hotel. She said, "You can't share your opinion about us." I said there's something called "freedom of speech" (1st Amendment) and I'm very much so entitled to tell my friend how I feel. Leah replied, "Not the F in front of us! We're not honoring your reservation!" I told them I wanted to speak with the manager, ASH SARDAR. She called him in front of me, and if you think she spoke to him like she spoke to me you're very much mistaken. Leah told Ash, "This guest was checking in and called this place a garbage hotel and disrespected me even after I offered to waive the deposit for her. I was being so nice." SHE NEVER MENTIONED WAVING THE DEPOSIT. COMPLETE LIES. She was aggressive and verbally abusive, but used projection. That is not how everything transpired. ASH SARDAR believed every word she said and asked that she cancel my reservation. He refused to speak with me. I told them this is not how you treat a customer. Leah replied, "Yeah whatever, have a good day and get the F out!" So, am not sure what kind of "relationship" Leah and Ash have. But obviously Leah has more power than Ash does and the supervisor who was present, as she seem very much intimidated by Leah as well. Leah said she cancelled my reservation, but she did not. Had to call my 3rd party vendor and had to make sure she cancelled it because Leah left it as ACTIVE. Very CORRUPT. In the end, if you think I'm upset, am not. You all did me a favor. I did not spend my money on detritus people and places. The hotel is SCUM with staff who have limited mentalities. Booked an amazing hotel that was super expensive, but got exceptional room service, left my car unlocked all night and had an AWESOME TIME! Good luck Ash to you and your unprofessional staff running a hospitality business with no hospitality skills. Not only was my sleep interrupted at 4am, from being bitten by bed bugs the employee at the window could not do anything to help me. Instead of calling his manager to handle the issue at hand he called the cops on me, not ONCE did i threaten this man. I was bitten up by BED BUGS took pictures right after it happen and showed the front desk clerk. I also asked the laundry attendant about it SHE LAUGHED AND PULLED AT HER LONG SLEEVE shirt. Not only is the manager DENYING this, he will not issue a refund. I stopped guest from coming in to get a room due to the bed bugs infestation that they have at this place. I have also filled a BBB. All that I ask is for my full refund. The location of this hotel is way too close to the highway for people to sleep soundly at night. If you are a light sleeper, the noise of passing cars speeding down the road will keep you up all night long...which is exactly what happened to me. (Ended up checking out of my room and simply going back home at 4 in the morning, cutting my stay short since there were no other available rooms that night.) If you are a light sleeper and do stay here, be sure to request a room on the top floor and on the side facing away from the highway. The first time (and only other time) I stayed at this hotel I was on that side and it was completely quiet. I returned to this property thinking it would be the same, but much to my surprise it wasn't. Other than that, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Clientele is a bit leery (probably because of the neighborhood it's in) but that can't be helped really. read more

Clean microwave and fridge. Shower water pressure is excellent and has an adjustable showerhead. Internet speed is decent enough to browse, but not much of anything else. Whomever gave this hotel 4/5 stars is lying to you. I stay in hotels 3-4 nights a week for my job for over 2 years now and have never had an experience like I had last week when I stayed at the DisComfort Inn Newark. My room was in the basement on the ground floor below the lobby, and while I wasn't happy with my room assignment, figured I could suck it up for one night. I proceeded to go to the "fitness center" to find their one treadmill was broken, as was the TV in the room. So instead I got on the one working machine, the stationary bike, when I encountered a knock on the outside window. It was a member of the staff asking me to open the back door to let them in. When I met her at the door, she told me the elevators were broken so the only way for guests to exit and enter the hotel was to use the back door and walk all the way around to the front. Ok, NBD, I figure all I'm exiting for is to meet my UberEATS driver outside. Big mistake. When I go outside and get my food, I find that there's no way to get back into the basement where I came out, as there is no key swipe. So I walk back to the front, and the receptionist tells me that the back door should be unlocked for those guests, because there is no way to get to the basement through the building (wait what?!). I insist it was not unlocked but thought I might have missed something, so walk back around to the back exit and indeed it is still locked and by now, another basement guest has joined me in trying to get into the building. I call the receptionist, telling her it's locked and she begrudgingly said she would come around to look at it. When she does, she says "oh we propped it open and someone moved the piece of wood." Last I checked, propping a back door open in the basement of a hotel in Newark that backs to a warehouse isn't the safest measure to be taken, but ok. The staff member then proceeds to take a hotel key to try to jimmy the lock open repeatedly, as more basement guests are showing up trying to get in. Apparently, no staff member has an actual key to the back door. Finally, after my delivery order has gotten cold from me standing outside for a long period of time, the manager calls another guest staying in the basement asking them to open the door for us. Not only was this a disruption for that Guest, it was a huge inconvenience for the rest of the guests who couldn't enter the building, let alone possible handicapped guests who could have been staying at the hotel with no working elevator. Had my grandmother been staying at the hotel, she would never have been able to climb the stairs to get back to the front of the building. Do yourself a favor and skip this fire hazard of a hotel. They clearly do not care a smidgen about the comfort of their guests. read more

Stayed here for one night. The room was clean, no problems there. I left my phone charger in the lobby, and they saved it for me until returned, which was a relief. I asked for late check out, and then staff woke me up in the morning by opening the room door, even though I had the "do not disturb" sign--I really dislike when hotel staff does this!!Didn't spend too much time at hotel, so I can't comment on the rest. My luggage and belongings were stolen. After experiencing an issue with a room, and being told by staff to store my luggage in my car as they prepared a new room, my items were stolen. I parked my car two spots from the front door, under video surveillance and no one seemed to pay attention to someone breaking into my car and hauling two pieces of luggage away in daylight? The manager didn't address the issue for a full 24 hours, and basically said it's my problem, not his. I have no clothes, personal items or toiletries, and the manager said it's not a concern for the hotel. No concern, no urgency, no apology. I stayed here with my husband and 18 month old and the bathroom sink had a crack in it. It was made of a very thin ceramic material. Initially we didn't complain because we assumed there wouldn't be a major problem, since it wasn't leaking water, but lo and behold our 18 months was playing underneath it (there's absolutely no barrier underneath the sink, see photo) and just a little banging from him was enough to break it. It was shocking. There were pieces of shard ceramic in our kid's hair, fortunately he wasn't cut by it. It left a hole, and we complained but the rude staff insisted it was our fault. Really, how do you break a sink like that? It had to be so poorly made and already be cracked for an 18 month old to break it. They lied to us, telling us that they wouldn't charge us. We're currently disputing the charge. There are other reasons to stay away from this place (no other key entrance beside the front, a little dirty, noisy) but the cheap quality of the furniture and fixtures was apparently a major problem for us. read more

First of all, the parking lot was a little different than other hotels in my opinion. There were flowers on the sidewalk (yellow, purple, red, and white) which was beautiful and a bench to sit down and watch the sky. I sat down a little bit outside while no people were around. Second, breakfast was free. There was a waffle machine. It was fun to make waffles. Personally, the strawberry waffle mix tasted better than the regular one. Also, there was always some hot food such as eggs or sausage which was nice. At the lobby, there was lime-infused water which was free, and I could drink it after the breakfast was over. I was a little bit worried about the place because the surrounding area did not seem like the safest area. Thank God nothing happened! The price was economic and the place was clean. The employees that I met (the front desk person, the cleaning person, and the cooking person) were nice. Our group consisted of all grown-up males. Mostly, I saw middle-aged males with working uniforms, young guy groups (all males), and old couples. I have never seen a young female person. read more

The only complaint I could give on this hotel is the breakfast was a little bland. I don't expect a high quality breakfast at a Choice Hotel obviously, but the precooked sausage was over microwaved and it dried it out a lot. The bacon was a little underdone too. The bread was kind of stale but the blueberry waffle was actually really good for what it was. The room was standard at a Choice Hotel, nothing special but very clean and no issues. The star of the show was the front desk. I've been to MUCH nicer hotels with a lot less friendly staff. I had an issue at check in where my wife had my ID in her purse, in the city, and I couldn't check in. I explained to them that she had to be at a business meeting that evening and a book signing the next morning so she was going to stay in Manhattan for the night and I REALLY needed to check in. They said they would go ahead and let me check in if she could fax my ID over when she got to her hotel. Not only did they take care of me on that but they also called me a cab and was extremely helpful with food suggestions and any other questions I had. This hotel would easily get 5 stars if the breakfast was just a little better. The river behind the hotel smells a little foul but you can't smell it inside and that's not the staff's fault. If we decide to stay outside of the city for the book signing next year I will gladly choose this hotel again, and hopefully I can bump them to a 5. Note: The cab ride from the hotel to Newark Penn, about a half mile, will cost you $7-$10. It's no big deal to walk it during the day but at night might be a little sketchy. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Yes, the hotel is a little run down and needs some sprucing up. The price is low so I don't expect it to be the Four Seasons. I could live with the so-so breakfast and bad neighborhood that the hotel is in. What I can't forgive is the horrible management and employee attitude that runs rampant here. We check in late on the first night and we notice the room smells like smoke that was covered up with some air freshener. Told the front desk and they offered to move us but we wanted to be next to the other family that we were traveling with. Also noticed that the water was leaking out of the bathtub nozzle. Not a drip drip leak. It was pouring out. I've attached a picture and you can see a continuous stream of water coming out. We could still hear it even with the door closed. It was also hot water so the bathroom was a sauna the next morning. Told the front desk in the morning and they said they would send someone to fix it. Came back after being out for the day and it still leaks. No one had come to look at it. Not only that but there was a yellow "caution wet" sign in the hallway outside of our door. Yup the carpet was soaked with I don't know what. No towels or fans to try and dry it, just the sign. I complained about the leak the next day again and they promised someone would come up that day. Went out for the day and came back again with the water still going. Called the desk and no one knows what's going on. I was offered 50 dollars credit on a 3 night stay but i didn't think it was enough. I have to talk to the manager. He will be in at 7 tomorrow. Ask to talk to the manager the next day and he's not in yet. He never showed up before we had to check out and leave at 9. I guess managers can just arrive whenever they want. Overall a really bad experience here. One last thing to convince you not to stay here. We wrapped a white towel around the leaking faucet to quiet it down and it was a nasty brown color in a few hours. I've included a picture of that also. The room was clean, all the amenities were as expected, the location was super close to the airport, and the price was reasonable. The TV had loads of channels, if you get antsy, but don't have time to go anywhere (there is nothing around the area, really). Breakfast was included, but our flight was so early, that they had to-go packs for us to take with us, and they had a generous amount of stuff in it! read more

I never write bad reviews but I'm making an exception for this hotel. My mom and dad were staying there to fly out of Newark in the morning. Their showers have no anti-slip strips in their tub and my dad slipped and fractured his hip. Because of this my mom had to extend their trip while my dad got emergency surgery and rehabilitation. The manager extended her stay at her original rate for a few days but then DOUBLED the price per night for her to continue staying there. I came to spend the first weekend with my mom and dad to help and stayed in the room. It is incredibly smelly, both bad smells and really strong air freshener piped through the vents. It's dirty. The breakfast is gross and they don't clean it up in between so the tables are disgusting by 7:30am. Don't stay here. read more

This was one of the worst place I've ever stayed at. When I first got there to check in, 5 employees just hung around the front of the counter and talked. While I was waiting for the paperwork to be completed, the girl sitting behind the desk started dropping fbombs as if I was not even there. I got my receipt and headed to my room, my sheets had red stains ( had no idea what that was) so I tried to call downstairs to front desk, the phone was not working. The wire was cut. So I walked down stairs to ask for new sheets and pillows and the guys left at the desk gave me an attitude when I ask for sheets. The carpet was dirty and the bed uncomfortable.
