I enjoyed my stay here. One of the highlights of my stay was the staff that I personally encountered were great. I wanted to check in early and I first called and spoke to an Aaron who said that he could help me leave a note for early check in, and then when I got there I was checked in by Estrella who was also great and she let me check in early. I came here for a wedding block and did not check the reviews until after my stay and was shocked at all the negative reviews. A lot of the prior reviews all mention outdated rooms, but now in 2026 the rooms have been redone and they're great. The hallways/exterior/common areas are still quite dated, but the rooms themselves have been redone well. They're spacious and large and well apportioned. With that said, there are some negatives. First of all, they're still working on renovations in the common areas. A large portion of the lobby is petitioned off, and the pool and spa are both closed. Secondly, the room we were in the beds seemed on the small side, so if you were trying to put two larger people on one of the beds it may feel a little cramped. Lastly, there still seems to be some issues with management. I was lucky and all the staff I dealt with were great, but one of my friends had her room canceled last minute. Otherwise, the location is great, there's plenty of parking, and you're either facing the ocean or golf course. read more

Stayed here over the long weekend and unfortunately it was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. The pool area was very dirty, and the common bathrooms were not being kept clean throughout the weekend. On Sunday night, there were guests drinking beer around the property, and the entire place felt overcrowded and poorly managed. There seemed to be no order or supervision -- towels were left everywhere, mud was all over the floors, and the overall cleanliness was disappointing. We also paid extra for an ocean view, but the view was honestly pretty bad and not what we expected. The breakfast was below average as well. For the price we paid, we definitely expected a much better experience and honestly would have been better off staying at a cheaper hotel. When booking this room there was a notification that the property was under renovation. No problem, I don't mind a little dust and noise at appropriate hours. I have stayed several times in the past year at a Fairfield Inn (Marriott) under construction but they did a much better job at setting expectations. What I didn't expect upon arrival was a good amount of parking taken up by construction materials and possibly construction vehicles. Additionally, when I checked in and inquired about breakfast I was informed that it would be available in the lobby as their dining area was under construction. My room was on the second floor, so I get in the elevator and press 2. Imagine my confusion when the second floor of the elevator is actually now the third floor. I wish the gentleman at the front desk would have mentioned that to me, but he did not. I figured it out but it was late (9:30pm) and I just wanted to get to my room, sit down and relax after a long day. My room was recently renovated but clearly not completed and I do not believe the city would have signed off on a unit that had tape on the sprinkler head in the bathroom, outlet covers missing (with exposed wires that one could accidentally touch at night in a pitch dark room) and quality control that anyone paying for a renovation would be unhappy with. I was also not informed that my patio door would not open as it was covered in plastic from the outside - so there was no way to access the balcony which was a nice perk to the room that I had reserved. Breakfast in the morning was not "a hot breakfast" as advertised on their website. Instead they offered a "grab-and-go" bag with a bagel, apple, orange, and yogurt. Coffee was also available but there was nowhere to sit. While I appreciate the disclaimer about renovations, they should have mentioned that the pool, fitness center, hot breakfast, and balconies were unavailable. The disclaimer was misleading and definitely not worth the points I redeemed for my stay. I did tell the front desk about the issues with the room and he said he would pass that along to the construction team. I hope management was also informed but I assume unlikely since I did not hear from them and it's been 3 days since my stay. read more

I checked into this hotel using the Hilton app and was assigned a digital key. When I arrived at the room, the digital key didn't work. I went down to the front desk, but no one was there. My husband had to call out and look around before someone finally appeared. I explained that I would prefer a different room because I didn't want to be located next to the gym. The employee immediately told me the hotel was sold out and that there were no other rooms available. What struck me as odd was that after I gave her my room number, she informed me that I wasn't actually in the room listed in the Hilton app and that my room was a completely different number. She then handed me a physical room key without asking for my ID, confirming my name, or verifying any information. As a guest, that was concerning from a security standpoint. The fact that the room assignment in the Hilton app didn't match the actual room I was given was also confusing and frustrating. When I got to the room and looked out from the balcony, the atmosphere around the property made me uncomfortable and unsafe. At that point, I told my husband I didn't want to stay, and we decided to check out. Unfortunately, the checkout experience was no better. Once again, there was nobody at the front desk, and my husband had to go find the same employee. Throughout both interactions, she seemed annoyed and uninterested in helping. No one asked why we were leaving, apologized for the issues, or made any effort to address our concerns. To make matters worse, I used one of my Hilton free night certificates for this stay. We spent less than 10 minutes at the hotel before deciding we did not feel comfortable staying and checking out. I am currently waiting to hear back regarding a resolution because I do not believe it is reasonable to lose a free night certificate over an experience like this. Between the confusion with the room assignment, the security concerns surrounding the room key, the lack of staff presence at the front desk, and the poor customer service, this was a very disappointing experience and not what I expect from a Hilton property. read more

Don't stay here, it's a trap! We made the mistake of staying here over the weekend with the family. The pictures are very deceiving and make the place look nicer than what it is. When I booked the room it said it has ocean view, not even close...it was facing the back parking lot! The beds we not comfortable, and the hotel is not close to the beach, you need to drive to get there. Long story short we stayed the night, the morning breakfast was not good, and the staff is not friendly. Looks like no one likes working there. To my surprise I noticed an extra $150 charge on my card! I called to find out why and I got the run around for like a good hour being transferred from 1 person to another. I finally got someone from the hotel that told me that we caused damage to some towels and she said something about the couch. I asked for pictures because I honestly have no clue what she is talking about, and also asked to speak to a manager. I haven't received the photos, and I still haven't spoken to a manager. I will be disputing this unfair charge, we are an honest hardworking family, made the mistake of staying there for 1 night, and now they want to charge me an extra $150 for something that we didn't do which is unfair and illegal. I am extremely disappointed with how this property handled my reservation. I booked months in advance (August 2025) for a friend's wedding, only to receive an email four days before arrival stating that my reservation had been canceled due to renovations and lack of rooms. If the hotel knew it would be undergoing renovations and unable to honor reservations, it is unacceptable that bookings were allowed in the first place. Canceling guests days before a major event shows a serious lack of planning and regard for customers. After calling the hotel multiple times, I received inconsistent and conflicting information from staff. I was told by one employee that the manager, Fernanda, was working from home due to renovations; another staff member said she was out on medical leave; and later I was again told she was working from home but dealing with health issues. Despite calling twice a day for three days and leaving my information, I never received a call back. When calling on the third day, one of the front desk staff, Stella, had mentioned that when she passed my information on to Fernanda, Fernanda had responded "thank you i'll call her". Again, I have yet to hear from Fernanda. As a Hilton Honors member who has been loyal to the company, this experience has made me seriously question the level of customer care this property provides. It makes me want to switch to Marriott or Hyatt. I escalated the issue to Hilton Escalated Customer Service Wednesday evening and was told the manager had 48 hours to contact me. It's currently Friday and I have yet to hear from Fernanda. read more

Stayed here for our wedding weekend. We stayed while hotel was under rennovation. We were told there would be no renovations during our stay when we originally booked. I had a block of 22 rooms + some that booked outside the room block. Days before the wedding the ones outside the room block gets cancelled + some inside my room block who booked with points. Management never gives me a call back to address these issues. When asking for a person in charge at check in I was told they would call me - never did. There was safety concerns as well - front desk was giving room keys to rooms without identification checks. It happen many times in the 2 days we were there.. I've seen it first hand. Someone in my own room block had been checked into someone else room as well. One of my rooms I booked didnt have power to the living room and they only extended 20% off which is not acceptable. We found out late at night after our wedding and was told thats best they can do. I worked for Hilton and managed two properties and also spearheaded renovations so what they did is not right. I wouldn't recommend anyone having a wedding or event in San Clemente to stay here. They may sound nice over the phone but once they have your money they disregard you. The price was may be really good but have to remember you pay what you get.. meaning poor service and headaches. You are better off staying in Dana Point and making that 10-15min drive if you want to stay at a Hilton property. read more

We are part of a wedding block, and now SOL for this weekend. Our stay at the Hampton Inn San Clemente was absolutely unacceptable. We were in town for a wedding, and not only did we have a terrible experience in our room (321), but every one of our friends staying here had similar complaints. Clearly, this is not a one-time issue. From the start, the front desk clerk barely spoke, he seemed either completely exhausted or high. When we got to our room, the door wouldn't even open all the way because the bed was literally blocking it. Once inside, it just kept going downhill: * The AC didn't work, and it was over 80° in the room. Their "solution"? They handed us a tiny $10 fan from Walmart. * The TV was missing from the wall in the living room. * The remote had a sticky residue on it (absolutely disgusting). * The carpet looked filthy and felt just as bad. * The shower made a horrible screeching noise the entire time it was running. * The bed was rock hard, the pillows were ridiculously small, and worst of all--there was hair in the sheets on arrival. * One lamp didn't work, the window couldn't be opened, and the room smelled stale and unclean. This is nowhere close to the "clean, comfortable, amenity-filled" stay they advertise. And yes, there was a sign about upcoming renovations, but based on the condition of the place and the number of other reviews saying the same thing, it's clear nothing has changed for a long time. Honestly, a budget roadside motel would have been a major upgrade. If you're going to keep charging full price, you need to actually deliver what you promise--or drop your rates and be honest about what people are walking into. Yuk. I blew it by not reading the reviews before staying here. Don't stay here until they start and finish renovations. The sign in the lobby says renovating Spring 2025, but as of today, I saw no signs of renovations. Look closely at the pics and if the rooms have dark carpeting- stay away. I've stayed in at least 3-4 Hampton Inns in the last month and they were all clean and modern. Not here Here, it's old, dated and gross, esp the carpet. Think carpeted baseboards as well. Don't even think about sitting on the couch in the living room. We were very tempted to leave but decided to just deal with it since we had to get to an event. I feel like I wasted 60k points staying here. My friend spent close to $250. I gave it 2 stars because it's not far from the nicer areas of San Clemente. However, this is not in the nicer area. Would recommend against staying here. Outdated, worn out, dirty and possibly unsafe. Mold in the bathroom, dirty floors/furniture, uncomfortable beds, SUPER loud AC that rattles and hums like a lawn mower and the rooms are loud as it's right next to the highway/freeway. On top of all this, our Aunt checked into her room which seemed "used". Upon talking to the manager she was informed that they suspect an ex employee is sneaking into rooms to sleep randomly using an all access keycard. How this is possibly legal for them to operate with this breach of security once they know it's happening is beyond me. Yikes, our experience at this Hampton Inn was unpleasant from start to finish. When we arrived for check-in, the on duty staff was unable to get us booked into the proper rooms we'd booked months in advance. We spent over an hour on the check-in process, and the staff refused to call the manager when we asked him to because "he wanted to try to solve the problem on his own." When we finally got to our rooms, they were old, smelly, and in need of repairs. Simple items like toilet paper and clothes hangers were not stocked. There were some signs throughout the hotel advertising a renovation in 2025. I would not recommend anyone stay here until those renovations are complete. read more

We stayed here and were so disappointed. It wasnt very clean, a VERY dirty mattress on the pull out couch. We asked for towels and they said they couldn't give us any extra. Then when I insisted they give us more towels, the ones the gave us had hairs all in them. They charge extra for parking, and you are LITERALLY right next to the freeway. The customer service was non existent. We've stayed at this location before and enjoyed it. This time we had a room in the back overlooking the golf course from our balcony. My friend and I enjoy different things in tv sometimes so it's nice to have the 2 rooms with tvs lol. The staff is always pleasant, even though the air conditioning was out in the lobby and it was hot in there! The location is great, there's limited garage parking and can be a tight squeeze but there's also outside parking. I'd say it's a good place to stay and I'd stay here again. read more

We Stayed here for a family wedding in April . I WOULD NEVER stay there again. They knew they had TWO rooms without a functioning AC, both of those rooms also have windows that do NOT open. Guests who were part of our wedding party had checked in before us and complained about the issue and got new rooms. So at bare minimum hotel management knew then. When we checked in we told them that the AC was stuck on 78 and climbing, not a window to open bc they are sealed for whatever reason. We were cooking and incredibly uncomfortable. Both our room and our family traveling with us had this issue and the Room was like Sauna for two days day and night. No other rooms were available at the hotel nor any neighboring hotels so we were stuck . The Hotel manager was supposed to call us to at least accommodate us in some way. How about a fan? Bottles of water ? A discount ? An apology ? NOTHING ...we spent two days without a promised call from management and they didn't bother to send a technician to our room to fix it. They should seriously have an employee run To a home Depot or similar a s buy several room fans as well as finding a technician. Absolutely unacceptable service. Not a peep. We were so hot and sweaty trying to get ready for the wedding and the nights were atrocious. Finally they offered us a 15% (!!!!!) discount after getting a hold of someone after checking out. 15%???? What is that ? What a joke they should have apologized , and comped us one night. On top of that the breakfast is horrendous as is the coffee. Truly gross prefab egg things and watered down coffee. We stayed the weekend at this Hampton Inn hotel. It's right in the midst of rustic San Clemente. We found the staff and housekeeping to be very friendly and nice. The room was clean. We enjoyed the included breakfast each morning and they did offer a variety day-to-day from the type of omelettes and protein offered. Due to San Clemente strict building codes, the building is still in its original floor plan, which is overall fine other than the bathrooms which are a little bit on the smaller side. We did like that the sink was outside the shower/toilet area. They are planning a complete renovation to update the decor and other elements, but it's not clear when that will actually happen. Besides the wallpaper peeling of in the bathroom, the staff's honesty needs to improve. I stayed there last weekend and I left my earbuds in the room. They feel in the floor when I was I packing and I told myself don't forget to pick them up. Well, guess what, I did indeed forget to pick them up and checked out. After realizing this, I called the hotel and of course, there was nothing turned into lost and found from housekeeping. Not my favorite place to stay. Will definitely avoid next time we come this way. The shower temp fluctuated and the pipe made a horrendous squeaking sound during our showers. The bathroom light flickered like the lights in the haunted mansion. We were on the 2nd floor- It was the beginning of May and the weather outside was cool & pleasant - this was not the case inside our room, however. The AC was broken. Our room is 78 degrees at 11:30 at night. We would have loved to just open a window but the windows in the room were all sealed shut permanently so we could NOT ease the heat and make it comfortable for sleeping. We found a floor fan in the room, behind the bedroom door. (Clearly it was there for a reason). It was the only thing that made the temperature in the room tolerable. Sam at the front desk, was really nice and tried to help us with the thermostat- but to no avail. Unfortunately we couldn't switch rooms because they were "booked" so we had to suffer through the night. We were not expecting a five star stay for the price but we would have just liked to open a darn window and feel the ocean air instead of staying in a hot, musty air filled room with no window access. read more

Stayed here one night when we were evacuated from another location due to a possible tsunami. They were very friendly and accommodated us in the short time span. I wished it was cheaper with funds being tight from being evacuated but I appreciate the fact we had some place to lay our heads. There is additional fee for parking and the parking is super tight, inside and outside of the garage. The room was very spacious and the beds are comfortable. A typical Hampton Inn, with a couple of positives and a negative or two. It is conveniently located near San Clemente, right off the I-5 freeway, which is both good and not so much. The freeway noise is a constant, though double-glazed windows are fairly effective. Other pluses include an on-site pool, business center, guest laundry, fitness center, included breakfast, and free parking. While it is close to town, it's about a mile walk into the heart of San Clemente. If you drive it, be aware that parking spaces can be hard to find at busier times. Our room was a two room suite with a living room/sitting area and a separate bedroom facing the freeway and the ocean beyond. Rooms on the other side face a municipal golf course but also the outdoor pool, which means noise, at least during the day and early evening. Rooms have two TVs, a small fridge, microwave, iron and board, hair dryer and other amenities. Most have small balconies. The hotel was very busy all four nights we were there because people were catching up on weddings that had been delayed because of COVID. Still, our room was pretty quiet and we seldom heard other guests, either next-door or out in the hall. Service was excellent. When we arrived, the Wi-Fi wasn't working well, and the front desk thought it was because there were so many people trying to access it. They worked with their IT provider and got a reset, which (mostly) resolved the problem. The other issue was our door lock. It was acting up because of a low battery but a quick mention at the front desk and it was fixed before we got back from a quick errand. In fact, all the people we encountered were great, from housekeeping to the breakfast room attendant (who was EVERYWHERE AT ONCE) to the front desk folks. High marks there. All told, a perfectly fine place to call your home away from home. read more

Here at the Hamptons, three nights two days... the worst experience ever was to stay here at this hotel.. It's kind of crazy so please forgive the content. It's gonna sound bizarre kind of unexplainable if you ask me, but it is unexplainable so here we go... its like being in nightmare in the alley sleeping just a little more of a step up with cushion..The walls and the carpet are dirty.. this creepy sound s of a constant construction sound coming from the walls...such as drills,saws,hammering, etc. that the staff can't even explain..there's people that you can hear all through the night talking ..making cat calls in Spanish..threatening and being disrespectful most times..it's a experience that you never want to experience..it's a discussed feeling it leaves in your stomach.I'm not one to back down so I was talking smack back.the four days we were there...only a few hours of sleep each day.everyone started to ask what was goi on..we complained to staff daily..I would say to the Hilton family your names on this post.. by not being able to protect your guest, not able to gain control nor begin to make sense of what kind of circus and bad experience to your romper room business you call a hotel or Hampton Inn in the city of San Clemente, California.. My wife and I booked a room here because it was recommended based on proximity to a wedding venue within walking distance. We walked into the lobby just before 3:00pm and there were several very upset people waiting for rooms to be ready. Also, the AC was out in nearly every room. They said it would be 10-15 mins until our room was ready. I went to the third floor, we were given room 320, and there were two people, a man and a woman cleaning the room by the elevator. Room 320 was filthy, hadn't been cleaned and they weren't even close to getting to it. My wife needed to get ready for the wedding and do her makeup. There's no way we would have gotten a room in time. I immediately got on "hotels tonight" app and booked a room down the street at the Miramar Hotel. It was very clean and had working AC! We were able to make it to the wedding on time. I don't blame the kids working the counter. I blame the owner/management of the Hampton Inn and Suites! They did not have nearly enough staff / housekeepers to handle the amount of rooms they have. We spoke to a local who used to work there and she said it's been that way for at least two years. If I could leave less than one star, I would. Jillian (manager) is not upholding Hilton's wonderful reputation. I am loyal to Hilton and this was the worst experience I've ever had at any of their hotels. I recommended this location, because it was a Hilton property, to our entire wedding party. There were so many issues, it is hard to write everything down. I was sent to my room three times, before it was clean. The girl at the front desk, was being bombarded with people complaining about issues. Poor thing, she had only been there one month. Televisions were down, the Internet sucked and most of the time there was no one at the front desk. There was a homeless guy that smelled so bad, in the lobby getting coffee. He sprayed creamer all over the desk and floor and there was no one to do anything about it. I personally wiped everything up to try and help. The pool was dirty and the hot tub water had gross stuff floating on the hot of the water. We didn't dare go in, for fear of getting a UTI! The breakfast sausage was an almost translucent consistency and gooey. The thinly sliced ham the next morning looked gray in color. When some of my friends checked in later that evening (part of the wedding party), they were given a room where the air conditioning was broken, the hot water wasn't working properly, it was a sauna in their room and the alarm in the room went off at 6 AM randomly. They hardly slept because of the room temp and alarm, but were only offered 30% off of 1 night's stay out of 3 nights. UNBELIEVABLE The manager told them they had to move to a different room the next morning, but offered no assistance. We had wedding events that day, that we had to interrupt to transfer rooms. There was NO appropriate compensation for the inconvenience or the poor quality of room or lack of acceptable customer service. Obviously, the place isn't being managed properly. When they went to check out 2 days later, there was of course no one at the front desk. They had to find a housekeeping employee to go find someone to check them out and give them a receipt. This is my friend's very first time staying with Hilton, at my personal recommendation which I explained to the manager, but she didn't care enough to make things right. We have opened the case with Hilton. I highly recommend anyone considering staying here, to find other accommodations. It's not worth the $$$. read more

I would not stay here. Reeks of mold and rooms are not clean. Definitely have a mold problem. I would be shocked if they didn't. I have a mold illness and they deny the mold problem. read more

The check in and service was good but.......the room was musty and something in the room was making our eyes burn. The pool was out of service. The pullout bed was terrible. I would only recommend that for kids. Located right next to the freeway. By the way this is by far the worst Hampton INN experience I have ever had. read more

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. It's run down, filthy, neglected, unsafe, and poorly run. As we walked into the smaller, outdated lobby, we had to wait at least 5 minutes for the elevator to get up to our room. The slow elevators were a problem the entire weekend. We got to our room (room 307) and opened the door and BAM, the bed is right in the front room. The door hardly has enough room to swing into the room because the bed is sitting right there. This is a strange configuration because none of the other rooms are set up like this. This should be the living area as you walk in, with a couch and table, and the main bedroom should be in the back. I'm convinced the carpet was stained, torn, or in this awful place, probably bled on, so the hotel owners decided to just swap around the furniture and "problem solved"! This creates an issue because the AC sounds like an airplane taking off in that front area. If the bed was in the proper place, it wouldn't have been as noisy. Sleeping with that type of noise was difficult. Then add the most uncomfortable bed you can imagine, along with the smallest pillows you can find, and there's no way anyone can sleep here. While up for the entire night, I started looking at reviews of this hotel, to find many others had the same issue with the AC, pillows, and bed; however, to my horror, others encountered cockroaches and bedbugs. At this point I stuck my AirPods in my ears with noise canceling on, put a hoodie over my head because nothing in this entire room felt clean, and I curled up in the fetal position and prayed the night would end soon. It doesn't stop there. The bathroom is tiny. Hardly enough room to remove your clothing to take a shower. The shower itself has black mold or stains around it and it has that fiberglass feel of an RV shower. There were visible spiderwebs hanging down from the ceiling, bubbled wallpaper, stained ceilings, and windows so filthy, that the ocean view we had, couldn't be enjoyed. My husband went down to the front desk at 4am after our first night to see if we could switch rooms for our second night. He was of course met with an unhelpful, employee that said she couldn't do anything, blah blah blah. During the second day at this awful place, our kids wanted to swim. My first reaction was, "this place actually has a pool? Are you sure?" And they do, but I think the word pool is being generous. It's hardly bigger than the spa. Which by the way, is empty and dismally caution taped off (very dangerous, see photos), so no hot tub. There were no towels by the pool, so you have to take the elevator down to the front desk and hope the one and only employee happens to be behind the desk to get you towels. Those towels are the size of a hand towel, so get extra. Sadly, we had to stay a second night at this dump and I honestly considered sleeping in my car. It was another sleepless night, hoping I wasn't being bitten by bedbugs, praying cockroaches weren't in my bed, and packing up as quickly as possibly to get out of this hellhole. I'm at a complete loss for how this hotel has decent ratings. I'm also shocked Hilton will put their name on this property. It is clear the owners of this franchise DO NOT CARE about maintaining this building at all. read more

I had to stay here for over a month due to work. Breakfast was good, plenty of options. Cleaning was typical. Elevator was anciently slow. Internet was a scam. The "free internet" is supposed to run at 10-15 mbps. Premium is 15-25 mbps. The REALITY is that an internet speed tests CYCLES on the free internet. I forgot gmail even had a loading screen. I was teleported to the land of dial-up. After speaking to the internet help line they reset the issue and it changed nothing. Only one desk attendant of my entire stay was helpful, friendly, or knew anything about their job. It's a pretty rough stay. read more

I'm retired now and don't travel much anymore, but I did do quite a bit of traveling while I was still working. Hampton Inn was always my first choice for overnight stays when away from home. I had a business relationship with Hampton Inn before they were under the Hilton umbrella, and their facilities were always very clean and comfortable, and they always included breakfast with your stay. September 9th was our 52nd wedding anniversary, and my wife wanted to celebrate it by staying at the beach. I wanted to go to Big Bear, but she really wanted to go to the beach, so I made a reservation at the Hampton Inn in San Clemente. I made the reservation online, and I paid for it immediately. We got quite the surprise, however, when we arrived at the hotel. The front desk agent informed me that they were not pet friendly, and we had to cancel our reservation. He said he would try to refund the money we paid, and he called his manager who was not in the hotel. The manager told him that we couldn't receive a refund because we had already paid, and the rate we paid was non-refundable, so we were out of luck. We have stayed numerous times at the Hampton Inn, and have always had our dog. While I was making the reservation, I looked for any information about paying for our dog and couldn't find anything about it, so I figured I would just pay when we arrived. Of course we have always had to pay an extra fee for the dog, but there was never any problem with them not being pet friendly. This was like a slap in the face. There should be something on the website about them not being pet friendly, but there was nothing at all. We called around a couple of places in the area who offered pet sitting, but they needed to see our dog's vaccination certificate. I mean who doesn't carry their pet's vaccination record with them? Anyway, that's my rant, and I guess you could call this my sayonara to the Hampton Inn. I'm currently looking at Marriott's Perks and will be joining another hotel rewards program. I hate to lose my reward points, but I feel like I've been ripped off by Hilton. read more

Stay anywhere else. I spend a lot of time at a Hilton properties. I know the Hampton Inn brand and rarely read reviews before I book because it's generally a reliable experience. Yet this location fails in so many ways. The location admittedly is a dream if you want to be close to the 5. I could hear the freeway from my room, but fine, whatever. The proximity is hard to beat. But here are the cons: Our check in took forever. Like thirty minutes even though there were only two people in front of us. That's because the staff had to leave a bunch of times to deal with other guests having problems with their rooms, their keys, the parking lot, etc. There's one lady who is the concierge, front desk worker, janitor, and any other type of worker needed. I asked - this isn't because someone called in sick - it's just like this. The manager clearly doesn't care about the customer experience. If you're a diamond member, you know that you normally get a few perks - some bottles of water, snacks, etc. We were given one can of coke and told to split it or to purchase a second can. Again, fine, if you're that broke, whatever, but not the best first impression after making me wait a half hour. We go up the only elevator (which btw is positioned so that the lobby doors open and stay open whenever you stand in front of it). We get off on the second floor. It immediately reeks of mold. Like serious moisture problems. The room seems okay although the furniture is very uncomfortable. No bug infestations like others mentioned. We go to the pool, which faces an alley. The view is the worst I've seen at any Hilton property. Seriously , buy a few potted plants, date palms, shrubs-- something. I don't want to watch people rifling through trash cans while I swim. The jacuzzi is filled with sand and won't turn on. Other reviews from 5 months ago mention the sand. Gross. Looking closer at the pool, it also appears quite dirty. We elect not to swim and return inside. We stumble across the Lounge, which seems like a furniture graveyard. It's a disparate accumulation of items from a girls bedroom and a dentist office. Kind of creepy. Don't know what else to make of it. Went back to the room to change for dinner. As we leave the room, the key card won't lock the door. It's as if the door is dead. No lights or anything. We go back downstairs and are told we have to wait till the other guests are checked in and phone calls are addressed. We wait. And wait. We've now missed our dinner reservation. We get told we need to move rooms, to a different floor. We ask: can't they put new batteries in the door? Reset the keys or the lock? Something besides packing up everything? The answer is: once the staff goes back downstairs, there will be another stream of people and we will be relegated to the end of her line of guests. It could take a really long time for her to come back. For some unfathomable reason, the door miraculously locks. We take that as an opportunity to get dinner before things close. When we come back, even though we paid for parking, all of the parking spots are taken, even those in the alley. We have to park several blocks away and walk back to the hotel. When we get inside, no progress has been made with the door. They now begin to work on it. I am exhausted. It's late. Time passes. They eventually admit they don't know how to fix it. They say they have no rooms left. We had a chance to move rooms, after all, this is our fault. We can stay if we are good with not having the door lock - otherwise we need to go. We left. It's been a week and no follow up from hotel management. Absolutely nuts. Never seen anything like this. read more

I warned you. This place is rough. It's a small, old, disjointed hotel that is NOT worth it. Spent 2 nights here and our stay and sleep were awful. Everything is broke. Our AC broke at 2am. Our locks on our doors never worked. The elevator broke. The walls in our room were disgusting, see pictures. The shower head was broken. The beds were both broken and make noise. The couch was broken. Oh but 2 brand new TVs so that's nice. The whole place has a funky smell, the breakfast was gross and kept running out of food. The parking is a joke. They said they "might" renovate in 2 years....so don't say I didn't warn you. Do yourself a favor and stay by the pier. Same price, less homeless people around and you'll have a better stay. Shame on you Hilton, this place is a joke. read more
