Nice hotel about a mile from downtown San Clemente. My brother and I decided to walk instead of taking Uber and it wasn't bad. Rooms were clean and they do serve a breakfast for free. Waffles, egg sandwiches, fruit and a few other items. Prices are very reasonable compared to the hotels near the pier. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other travelers should be aware of my experience. My wife and I checked into our room only to discover multiple long strands of human hair in the bed sheets. We immediately notified the front desk, and while the employee working, Zack, did offer us another room, the replacement room had a strong mildew odor. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable staying at the hotel and decided to drive home instead. We never spent the night or used the room. The most disappointing part came afterward. I sent two courteous emails requesting a refund and received no response whatsoever. After waiting a week, I had to call the hotel myself. During that call, I spoke with the General Manager, Gene, who offered only a 50% refund for a room we never even stayed in. There was no acknowledgment of the unanswered emails or any apology for the lack of communication. I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciate that Zack tried to find a solution that evening. However, clean rooms are the bare minimum expectation when staying at a hotel. When both the original room and the replacement room were unacceptable, and the follow-up customer service consisted of ignoring my emails and offering only half of my money back, it demonstrated a disappointing lack of accountability. I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience. The issue wasn't just the cleanliness--it was how the situation was handled afterward. I expected much better customer service from hotel management, especially from a general manager, and a reasonable effort to make things right. read more

We had no hot water. When we complained to the front desk she didn't care. Her excuse was it was a city problem. The lady seemed like she was drunk. We were staying here with about 40 other people. Many people we were with had the same issue. No hot water. The phone in the room didn't work. It was an awful stay. Definitely do not recommend. read more

Casablanca Inn is tucked a few minutes away from the beach, and is at a prime location. They offer regular rooms and their deluxe rooms. I got a deluxe room and it was perfect for the party I was traveling with. Checking in was easy, even as they were doing training for a new employee. They have a pool and an outside patio with a cute fountain, breakfast included as well as a gym. The room was clean, I loved the kitchenette space and how spacious the sink area/bathtub were. The only issue I had was that our room was missing the remote for the tv. I called the front desk, and the staff offered to come look for it, but I've checked everywhere three times and couldn't find it. She mentioned if it had been missing, that the cleaning staff would have reported it. I felt, she didn't trust me and didn't want to offer any solutions unless I let them come check out the room. The situation was never resolved, I wonder if til this day if they ever found the remote. Nonetheless, it's a clean, roomy hotel, that's walking distance to the beach with a couple amenities. read more

I've stayed here multiple times now and I really like the location, the large rooms, the furnishings, and the continental breakfast. It's fairly close to beach access, and also in a very walkable neighborhood. Prices are fairly reasonable for the area, and I definitely look forward to returning again! read more

The online photos are completely misleading! Buyer beware! You think you are signing up for a lovely renovated room only to arrive and find out those are only a fraction of the available rooms. These are what you will likely get depending upon occupancy and the current mood of the front desk person. Hotels.com photos are what you are duped into believing you are paying for. First of all, what impressed me the most was how accommodating the front desk personnel were. We were being forced to stay in a hotel because our home was being fumigated. They let us check in early and allowed us to check out late to accommodate our schedule. We needed two separate rooms because our son needed a room as well. We also had our dog stay with us. Both rooms had a very private balcony, perfect to allow our dog to have fresh air. The rooms were a decent size, including a microwave, refrigerator, where everything worked well, free WIFI, all the cable channels available by COX, most importantly HVAC, so we were comfortable for our entire stay. And the more than ample parking that was FREE. And each morning they served free breakfast until 10 AM with a good assortment of fruits, muffins, danishes, coffee, tea, made fresh waffles with a nice variety of toppings. It would have been nice to take advantage of outdoor pool and the gym, but sadly this was not a vacation for us. but for those who do stay here on vacation, you can't beat the location and the price. read more

We ultimately received a full refund, but the experience itself was unnecessarily stressful. We booked and paid for a specific room (balcony and jetted tub). At check-in, no issues were disclosed. When we arrived at the room, it did not have a balcony. Staff later acknowledged that management had switched the room and referred to it as an "upgrade." We declined and asked for the room we reserved. Communication broke down from there: long holds, a disconnected call when the front desk went to lunch, and an argumentative interaction with management, including being told we were exhibiting a "sense of entitlement" simply for asking for confirmation of a refund. We never used the room and were forced to book another hotel that night. A refund was eventually issued, which I appreciate, but only after significant frustration and delay. Regardless of the quality of the property, but reservations and guest concerns were not handled well. If specific room features matter to you, confirm everything carefully. read more

Stayed here a couple nights for a work trip and had a great experience. The courtyard area and surrounding streets are all really quiet, the room was clean and comfortable and the couple employees I interacted with were very friendly. The only reason I give 4 stars is the construction that is going on. Because of it, their breakfast room is unavailable and therefore they are not offering their typical breakfast. This was disappointing as there was no notice of this when I booked the room. They did at least offer a "sack lunch" breakfast with some fruit, cereal, granola bar and some juice. read more

Hands down, such a relaxing stay. I love the theme. The white building with turquoise doors and terracotta roof tiles, so beautiful. Extremely convenient for families with little ones and they are also dog friendly, which was most important to us. Not to mention how convenient the parking situation is. They have a pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast was perfect and the lady was so nice and welcoming. They had homemade waffles and a selection of fruits and canned juices. We had to get the older rooms due to us having a our doggy with us, but the man that checked us in (I forgot his name! I wish I would've gotten it) got us the best room that had an ample balcony for our dog since he loves laying in the sun. I can't complain about the room, it's comfortable, pretty spacious and even has a pullout sofa bed. The fridge was also a pretty good size for us to store our food. Another winner for us was that this area has so many cute shops and restaurants around, the cutest secondhand store, trendy bars down the street and a 7-Eleven as well for our convenience. Not to mention, it's like a 5 minute walk to the beach. I've stayed at many dog friendly hotels in California, and this one takes it home as the best. They have many pet relief areas scattered and you can walk down the street to a little grass hill area with tables to eat as well. I don't usually like coming back to hotels since I like staying different hotels in different areas to explore but I would come back to this hotel next weekend if I could. We enjoyed our one night stay here. We didn't need anything fancy and this place delivered on all the things we cared about. Good location close to the beach, comfortable bed, quiet, good free breakfast. The management and staff were really good and a pleasure to deal with. They let us check in early for no charge which was awesome since we were only there for one night. The balcony was also a nice addition to our room and surprisingly relaxing. The room we stayed in was not renovated and a bit dated, but that didn't bother us at all. I could see how some people would want something nicer so you might want to ask about their deluxe rooms. I think those rooms have been renovated, but I'm not sure. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit San Clemente. read more

Erin is the most nurturing female front desk person I've ever known . She can't do enough seriously. Her goal is to make sure we have it all . I've slept better here than any other hotel from dana point to san clemente .. the building is vintage it's solid with thick walls and doors .. fountains and a great pool and breakfast till 10 am ! Parking area is so cute so different the place is charming .. nothing boring here all the rooms are immense and the location is ridiculous... feet from the Pacific Ocean ! An absolute wonderful place to stay. We have been coming here for the past 10 years, a week during Spring Break and 3 weeks during July. The staff is beyond outstanding. Jacob and Erin are always helpful in every way possible. Erin is cheerful, responsive, supportive and competent. She is especially wonderful with my granddaughter! My wife and I absolutely loved this place! We flew out to celebrate her sister's wedding, and found Casablanca Inn on Bookings.com. Firstly, upon arrival we were 30-45min early for check-in, but the gal at the front desk was kind enough to let us check in early; no gripes, just a genuine smile and a warm hello and welcome! Loved the very spacious room, which was very neat, and clean!. Let me mention the two best things about this place, that the wifey and I agreed upon: we truly had the best two nights of sleep we've ever had in any hotel/motel we've ever visited while traveling, and I mean THEE BEST sleep ever! The mattress was very comfortable, and the sheets and blankets were equally comfortable! Secondly, their morning breakfast was killer!! Wish I could remember the lady's name, but she served up breakfast to everyone with a smile, and was very accommodating to each person that walked in, child or adult! The waffles so so dang good, as was their SEC breakfast sandwich, with fresh fruits, juices and other snacks aplenty! We were in town for a wedding and were looking for the cheapest, pet-friendly place in the vicinity. My review is based on minimal use of the hotel. We were literally only here to sleep. Regardless, I would highly recommend it and stay here again if I'm ever in the area again. The price was right for the location. The beach is walking distance and the Super Bowl Express right across the street had really good food with generous portions. The room was clean, no noise to complain about.. they offered a small complimentary breakfast selection and have a pool. You really shouldn't need more then that unless you plan on spending A LOT of time hanging out on property. read more

We reserved a courtesy room block at Casablanca Inn for our wedding guests, and it was a great choice given that our venue (Casino San Clemente) was just a 5-minute walk away. There is a vintage coastal vibe that worked for us. Many of our guests ended up staying here, and the convenience factor was hard to beat. As the bride and groom, we stayed in the "Rick's Suite", which was a spacious one-bedroom suite that gave us plenty of room for all our things and space for the bridesmaids to get their hair and makeup done. The hotel also had a fountain area that served as a great spot for our first look photos. Staff and overall service were great, and the free breakfast and parking were a nice bonus. A couple of things worth noting: some rooms are older than others, so we'd recommend booking the "deluxe" rooms if available, and a few guests mentioned the walls are on the thinner side, so noise could be an issue for some. Also, the bathroom could have been more thoroughly cleaned when we first arrived. read more

Booked the King deluxe room and it was amazing!! Spacious, very clean, had jacuzzi bathtub inside which worked very well and was so relaxing! 10-15 min walk from the beach as well as downtown restaurants, shops and bars. The parking is free as well which I liked. I will say, the layout of the property is a bit confusing and kind of looks older and rundown on the outside, however the room I was in was newly renovated and very modern looking inside. Booked the Casablanca Inn for a romantic getaway to celebrate our anniversary. Called the morning of our stay to inquire about an early check and was informed of the possibility. The person said I would receive a call back later in the day with an update. No call was received, so we arrived at 3:30 for a 4pm check in. Entered the lobby where two other parties were waiting and no one at the front desk. About 15 minutes later Diane arrived and told a group of four that their room was not ready. When they inquired about when, Diane rudely responded "We have until 5:30 to have your room ready" She moved on to the next party whose room was ready. They inquired about getting a second room, which she said was available, then proceeded to process payment for each room separately even though the guest he was paying for both together. Forty minutes later I stepped up to be told my room was not ready, Diane said she was going to check on it and walked out the door returning 15 minutes later stating she couldn't find anyone and she would call me when it was ready. After waiting another 45 minutes my husband went in, no one again at the front desk. Finally Diane returned, still our room was not ready. My husband was thirty seconds from turning around to leave to go home, when she says she has a room for us. Our king balcony view suddenly became a king ADA compliant with a view of the parking garage. I felt like we were banished to the dungeon No mention of breakfast in the morning, the fitness center next door, or that we had to request to have our room made up, trash emptied and clean towels provided. Such a disappointment! At least our last night Erin explained things to us and tried to make up for our disappointing stay, but unfortunately it was too late. read more

This hotel is in serious need of TLC. What could have been an average stay was made significantly worse by one particular staff member, a front desk worker named Diana. At check-in, we ran into an issue due to having two separate reservations. Fortunately, another gentleman (whose name I unfortunately didn't catch) stepped in to help. I overheard their entire conversation: he clearly stated we would not need to check out and check back in for the second reservation. He even took our card twice to ensure the transition would be seamless and gave Diana the instructions on how to ensure this would occur. He was polite and apologetic about the confusion. Diana, on the other hand, called the day we were told we wouldn't need to check out and completely contradicted the information we had been given. She delivered her message with an attitude that made it clear she had no interest in being helpful or accommodating. Her demeanor was cold, dismissive, and more focused on proving a point than resolving the issue or ensuring guest comfort. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is its location--convenient and close to everything we needed! read more

We were scoping out their one suite for one night and it had potential but if your used to staying in any of the Marriott brand hotels this really won't cut it. There's is almost no info anywhere around check in or out, pool hours, breakfast hours etc. I think they should have a more detailed confirmation email to be honest. One morning I made it to breakfast. They use a table to block off the area and your order your waffle or frozen breakfast sandwich etc... lots of processed foods. The next morning I was there a few minutes before 10 and everything was locked up. So I couldn't tell you were breakfast was actually. The staff is nice. There's more rooms than parking but once you're aware parking in the neighborhood wasn't bad. The pool was nice though the leaves stayed in it both days. For the cost it met expectations. read more

We always have a laugh or two. It's unfortunate when ONE BAD APPLE, Or one TERRIBLE EMPLOYEE- casts a dark unsettling shadow and tone on the overall environment of a well packed business foundation. That bad Apple - Is WILLIAM. Never have I been threatened by an employee as if I were on the street... I was speechless. I'm still speechless. William helped customers ahead of me happily, when they loft the lobby, his face completely altered from charming to attack. It felt as though he physically wanted to come over the Service desk between us. After he hung up the phone screaming at my 75 year old Grandmother - who also stays here about 30 times a year - William is very agitated that we are extending our stay for 2 more days.. At this point I am mortified and hoping ANYONE will walk into the front desk room because this man is erratic, aggressive, unpredictable and clearly I am way out of my depth as I do not understand WHY or WHAT in any capacity I have done to cause him to escalate to this level of frustration and fury. I asked if he would mind being a little gentler as I felt my legs start to tremble with anxiety as he looked at me with rage ... and his response was - I HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE SO I CAN KICK YOU OUT OF MY HOTEL RIGHT NOW WOULD YOU LIKE THAT?" I took a pause, a breathe, and I gently asked him if he would please just take my deposit so I could return to me room...? This is where I zoned out because He had a lot of aggressive nasty things to say I wouldn't allow myself to digest - so I just focused on the counter as I put my head down as he spoke with his look of rage. When I did not respond he finally took my money, and handed me my keys. I walked out of the lobby trembling with what I had just experienced - I had to remind myself, that exchange ... had been with an employee... not some random thug on the street... I felt to scared to leave my room. (This went on for about 25 minutes in total - but going into everything this man did is senseless - You Can NOT reason with Unreasonable. I learned this when volunteering in college working in an addiction shelter for 3 semesters) I spoke with Nick, the part OWNER of this hotel . when he got to the property.- he assured me I would not have to go through this employee again and I was a very appreciated loyal guest. We checked in with the manager for our delux king room and He was extremely kind and welcoming. The new upgraded rooms are SO nice and clean. The bedding was one of the most comfortable sets I have slept on at a hotel. The woman making FREE breakfast in the morning was so sweet. This hotel is right in front of a free trolly stop that takes you everywhere you need to go. Everything is a 5 min drive MAX if you don't want to use the free trolley. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend to people. Again, I do not know what the older side of the hotel looks like, but the upgraded side was amazing! read more

A hidden gem. Booked this room on Memorial Day weekend and was surprised how much less it was over others I've stayed at in San Clemente. The staff was friendly when I checked in. Make sure you still have a mask. It seems California forgot that the rest of the country is easing back on the restrictions. Got to my room and very pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and orderly. Looks like they remodeled as it was nice inside. The. Ed's were comfortable and even nice having a table with chairs to sit in. They would have gotten a 5th except the room wasn't cleaned at end of first day. That's even with me leaving a "maid service please" sign on the door. I'll still come back again though. read more

We had a wedding at 4, and requested early check in, and they said yeah no problem. 3pm comes around and our room wasn't ready. We weren't that bothered but when 4pm came around and our room wasn't ready, that was a bummer. We weren't able to check into our room UNTIL 6:45. it was bullshit. They also charged my credit card online and the charged my fiancé again, double the cost of what I was charged on his when he was trying to check in. Insane. Worst experience ever, stupid staff, and such a bummer because I love staying at smaller, non-chain hotels. What an embarrassment. read more

Regarding management: For our San Clemente wedding (in September 2025), we were looking to do a room block for our guests. We had called the Casablanca Inn in October 2024 and December 2024 & in both cases, were assured by the general manager of the hotel that they offer complimentary room blocks and that they would be happy to reserve a 10-room room block for us in February 2025 when rates became available. Called today (2/4/25) to make the room block reservation just for another manager to tell me that this is all false information, per policy, that they do not take room blocks (complimentary nor contracted), that previous individual misspoke and that they would not accommodate our request despite the Inn having previously confirmed *twice* that they would. Now we get to start back a square one. Long story short: Don't bother with these people. read more

Was looking to book about 35 rooms & the suite for my upcoming wedding in May, as our venue is directly across the street. Could never get through to group bookings despite calling & emailing over seven times. On one call, I was told to call back another day to which I asked if someone would be calling me back since I had already left 3 messages prior. I was told I could leave *another* message and it was best if I called them.... yikes! Sad because this would have been a great location, but can't take the chance with such poor customer service and spending that much money for our big day. read more
