Well, we never actually stayed here due to the TERRIBLE reception at the front desk by Odalys. We attempted to check in early by 2 hours. Odalys was quick to say check in was at 4pm and would call if the room became available earlier. I asked if we could upgrade to an available room and without checking her computer, Odalys said that wasn't an option. I then asked if we could use the pool prior to the room being ready because it was 90+ outside and we were traveling with our child and she again said they couldn't do that due to liability. Which, 5 nights prior, we stayed at a Hilton hotel in Portland that checked us in early AND said we could use the pool even if the room wasn't ready. My husband ended up going back inside and got the room refunded by the other front desk person Dylan, all while Odalys had Massive attitude and ZERO customer service abilities. We ended up at another nearby hotel with MUCH BETTER front desk customer service. Odalys also stated that they didn't have availability due to a local wildfire. I asked the front desk at La Quinta if they also had limited availability due to the wildfires and he said most people had already gone back home and was even able to upgrade our room. In the end, customer service speaks VOLUMES to me, and as long as Odalys works at this hotel, I would choose any other hotel nearby. read more

I honestly cannot remember the last time I stayed at a Hampton Inn but this one in Walla Walla was an unexpected win. Walla Walla is beautiful wine country but still very much a small town. There is not really a full service hotel here except for the Marcus Whitman which was sold out. After a bad pre arrival experience with the Courtyard by Marriott we chose the Hampton because it is pet friendly. It is a little farther from the action, about a seven minute drive to Main Street where most of the tasting rooms, shops and restaurants are, but you need to drive to most wineries and activities anyway so it is not a bad location at all. Service here was excellent. When my husband did not like the first room we were given they moved us to a suite and that was definitely the right call for the extra space with the dogs. They were also very responsive. We had an issue with our AC which is a must have in the summer and they stopped by a couple of times to make sure it was working right. That kind of follow up really stood out. This place is very dog friendly. The dogs got treats at check in and they were able to put us on the first floor near an exit for quick trips outside. There is even a huge off leash dog park right across the street which was a big bonus. It is newly renovated and feels fresh. The area seemed safe and we left our car in the open lot without any problems. The amenities include an outdoor pool, a nice fitness center which I used every day, and the classic Hampton breakfast that in my opinion is better than Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, or SpringHill Suites breakfasts. We stayed for a week, part work and part vacation, the days I had to work I had zero issues with wifi, and for a limited service property it really does have a full service feel. I would happily come back if I ever made the long drive to Walla Walla again, though that is a big if. read more

We stayed there during the Memorial Day weekend. The hotel itself is okay. But what I want to write a review of the American Flag flying in front of the hotel. I took this picture to show the front desk. Asking them to have this replaced. No American flag should be used in this condition. So, the front desk person said he would bring it up to management. DOES NOT HONOR FIRST RESPONDERS! We are staying at the Hilton in Walla Walla, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. Upon arrival, the check-in process was slow and painful. The front desk staff was rude and not very accommodating. We waited for 15 minutes before he came to the front desk without any greeting or apologizing for making us wait. Refused to match online prices or discounts for first responders. We decided to book online instead. After booking the stay for two rooms for two nights with first responders discount, the reservation came to 499.00. Once we walked to the front desk Dylan, the front desk employee stated we couldn't use the first responders discount because we weren't there for business. We then asked to cancel the reservation, in which he said he couldn't do and we had to wait for his manager. Another 20 minute wait, she said she couldn't cancel our reservation because of the 24 hr policy. So we had no choice but to stay. We ended up standing at the counter for over an hour while sorting out the entire mess. Our first night was charged, then tomorrow we have to check out and check back in. I will never be staying a Hilton chain ever again. Overall, I felt that the service did not reflect the Hilton brand's usual standards, and I left my stay feeling very dissatisfied. The Hampton Inns are all part of the Hilton chain so this is your one Hilton choice in Walla Walla. This hotel is visible from the highway between Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater. However, to access the hotel you must be on the Dallas Military Road. Parking is available on all sides of the property. The lobby is inviting and the breakfast room has lots of space and some comfortable chairs for relaxing. The elevator is slow but it works. Our room was clean, spacious and relatively quiet. While frequent travelers might be excused for thinking, "All Hampton Inns are pretty much the same," the Hampton Inn and Suites in Walla Walla is definitely a cut above many. Although 10 years old, it presents as a much newer property, which speaks of how well it is maintained. Both the exterior and the interior common spaces show virtually no signs of wear, and the guest rooms are equally well maintained. Guest rooms are also more generous than many. Ours, a King room, had a living/sleeping area that measured 15 x 14 feet (210 square feet), and that didn't count the hallway and the bathroom with a double-sized walk-in shower. The room had a King bed, a single armchair, and two padded cubes that could be used for sitting or propping one's luggage. The étagère concealed a mini-fridge and storage shelves, and supported a 32-inch diagonal LG flat screen TV. While that seemed a bit on the small side, because of its proximity to the bed (which was really the only decent place for TV watching), it was adequate. Off the short hall was a good-sized closet containing an iron and ironing board and an extra blanket. Across from the closet was a place on a wall to hang one's coat or bathrobe. As we visited in early September, coats were unnecessary; however, later in the fall and winter, that could be quite handy indeed. The workspace had plenty of plugs and USB outlets for the many electronics with which we travel and complimentary Wi-Fi with download speeds of 4.9 Mbps and upload speeds of 4.1 Mbps, as measured by Speakeasy.net/speedtest; quite adequate for checking email and social media. Bath amenities were mid-range Neutrogena products; a cut above many properties in the mid-range hotel space. Notably, the bathroom also includes a night light, which can save many stubbed toes when trying to negotiate a strange space in the dark, and through the fog of sleep. A hot buffet breakfast was provided every morning from 6 to 10, and the items rotated from day to day so it was less predictable than some. The dining area was open 24/7, affording guests a place to meet and talk, perhaps sharing a take-out dinner from a nearby restaurant or relax with a bottle of wine. Speaking of wine, there is also a 24-hour pantry with snacks and wines available by the bottle, but here's the kicker: Hotel guests can get a 10-percent discount at the Tertulia Cellars, as both the winery and the hotel are owned by the same people. A very nice perk indeed for those inclined to partake of the grape. The hotel also has an outdoor pool and hot tub, business center, fitness room, and conference space available. As nice as it is to stay in a property that is pleasant and well-maintained, service can make or break the best of them. Service here was very good, with staff members greeting us as we passed in the hallway, breakfast room or lobby, and occasionally taking time to chat with us about the history of the town (we asked; they didn't foist themselves upon us!). Requests for various items were met quickly, and we were made to feel more like guests than simply customers. Three areas could use upgrading. First, the chair at the desk was not a proper task chair and working there for lengthy periods proved uncomfortable. An ergonomic chair would be a big improvement, especially for business travelers. Second, a small sofa for two to replace the single chair would be great for couples and would provide a more comfortable place to watch television. Third, in-room safes would be most welcome. The hotel is situated among office and industrial buildings along Dalles Military Road, a short drive from a handful of restaurants and grocery stores, and about two miles from the city's downtown core. While not exactly in the "heart of the action," it's just a short drive away. The Hampton Inn and Suites in Walla Walla is a great place to make your temporary home. read more

The only thing that prevented me from giving it 5 stars was; 1) I was told I'd have a microwave in my room because it was a King, but I did not, and 2) the pool was supposed to be 84 degrees, but not even close, and too cold to go for a swim outside. Hot tub was nice. Breakfast was the typical Hampton Inn. It was my second stay here, and I'd stay again and recommend it. Just spent 2 nights here. They say kids stay free and there was an additional charge when we put in our two babies when we tried to do the reservation. When we then just selected my husband and I, it was cheaper. We had a king size bed, which the table is on the wall and makes the entry way incredibly narrow. So narrow we could barely get the luggage trolly through to unload. The sheets were super frustrating as they didn't stay on the bed. We asked for another set of sheets due to our son spilling water, we were told they would be brought to our room, in which they were. But they were queen size sheets... so that was ridiculous. The fridge is dinky. The second night, we were all restless. It was so warm in our room, I had turned the thermostat down and still, it got warmer. That was a miserable night. Also the shower head sucks. It was just like this jet shooting out, no matter how many times I tried to adjust the nozzle, it was bad. Definitely needs updating. We had 2 key cards and only worked the entire time even after we went to the front staff. Staff was very courteous, polite, and were always available. read more

Do not trust this hotel or stay here! I booked it in February for our stay in June for two nights, since the family event was going to be on Sunday, and we booked it for a sat and Sunday night. The week before our stay, we discussed whether we should stay two nights or one, and still hadn't decided by Thursday, so we called the hotel to see what the cancellation policy was. They said 24 hrs before our stay. I called back and said we would like to cancel the second night because we aren't sure, and it's easier to rebook a night if we decide to stay the second night. The hotel person then said, oh, well we have implemented a 2 night minimum but if you check in, and decide to only stay one night, then you can check out early and we can't charge you for not staying the night. I repeated what she said, asking, "So we should check in Saturday, and if we don't want to stay Sunday night just check out early Sunday morning and we won't be charged?" She said, "yes. We can't charge you for checking out early and not staying." I said ok, sounds good. We arrived at the hotel, checked in. It was pretty clean, the staff friendly. We had seen on the website the pool was closed, but my husband asked and they said it was open. So we decided to go to the pool. It was freezing cold and the hot tub had low water levels. We talked to the front desk again, and they told us all about the issues they'd been having, that it wasn't filtering properly, that the health department had actually shut them down, and also that the people who were supposed to fix it couldn't fix it until July, which is why the dates were posted online. They also said tons of people were canceling due to not having pool access so they called another hotel to jerry rig the pump to get it to work, but it really wasn't going to be fixed until July. That was a red flag to us, because you can get sick if a pool is not properly managed or filtered. We slept the one night, the room was decent, tv worked, there was a fridge but it couldn't be adjusted and wasn't cold enough so thankfully we brought a cooler and utilized the ice machine down the hall. The bed was quite hard and I woke up with back pain in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep. When we talked the next morning, my husband said, "let's just go home. It's worth driving home late so we can sleep in our bed because this bed is so uncomfortable, plus the pool issues creep me out." I agreed, so we packed up, went to the desk about 7:15 am and turned in the keys to check out. The guy there then told us he couldn't change our reservation, that he would have to get approval from his manager. I explained the situation, that we had been told two days before we even checked in when it was still cancellable that we could check out early and they couldn't charge us for the second night. He said he wasn't sure why someone would tell us that because the 2 night minimum had been in place for weeks (not months) and everyone should have been aware of the situation. But he did say we would not have known about the 2 night minimum when we booked and that normally they do allow you to check out early and cancel, just not this weekend for some reason. He called the manager, and said she would call us first thing Monday morning when she came in, and see if corporate would approve our cancellation. He wrote out number down, said he would write notes about us checking out early and turning in our keys, and would make sure his manager called us in the morning. Monday came around and it was nearly 4pm. I still had not heard from the manager. I called the hotel again and he confirmed my number and said his manager was on site but not in her office and he would make sure she did her job. Still no call so I called corporate. Had to wait on line for 40 min to talk to someone. They listened to our experience, said he apologized for this experience and that it would never happen again, and said he would refund me the 2nd night. He said the management would also be notified. The next day I got an email from the hotel saying they would only refund half the second night. I messaged customer service and the chat person never responded other than asking for my confirmation number. I then got an email from guest services saying they were sorry they couldn't give additional compensation and I had to contact the hotel directly. Unfortunately the manager doesn't call back. Basically I got scammed into checking in because they were losing money from people cancelling. Maybe the person who told me I could check out early was sincere bc normally they do let you do that per the other guy, but if it was managed properly everyone would have been on the same page and they should have fixed the issue. Do not go to this hotel as you can't trust them and if they aren't fixing their pool and got shut down by the health dpt. then other corners may be getting cut. Plus, it's really expensive! read more

I cannot believe this is a Hilton affiliated hotel. The fitted sheet wouldn't stay on the bed, so I tried to put it back on when, which is when I noticed hair on the mattress cover. This led me to look around the room a little closer. The temperature control had a hair stuck to it, the shower had hair in it as well as corners of the bathroom. There were splashes of either food or a drink on the bathroom wall and, at one point, I stepped in something sticky. I used a wet tissue to wipe it up to find the tissue almost black in color and with more hair. I was told upon check-in that there was no housekeeping, so if I needed something, I'd have to come get it myself. This was the most disgusting stay I've had in a hotel. read more

Thank you, thank you! Update: we left something behind and the hotel, specifically Heather, went above and beyond to get it back to us. This transaction was not easy as our package was lost for a bit and the local UPS store was NOT helpful but Heather stuck with it to make sure we received. If i could give a zero stars I would! My husband and I decided last minute to do an overnight in Walla Walla. We paid $268.15 for the night. The following morning as we were getting ready to leave, we noticed that there as something disgusting on my husband's side of the bed on BOTH mattress covers! I then looked at my side....SAME! I was immediately grossed out and disgusted that I had slept in that mess! I went downstairs with pictures. The 12 year old boy at the front desk said "oh my, that's gross". He then called the head house keeper to look and she looked at my phone and said NOTHING! He then said , 'yeah, it's gross. Sorry". I called corporate, who told me the hotel management would call me. The have yet to call-and I'm sure they won't. I am a Diamond Member with Hilton. Clearly I stay a lot. They offered me 10,000 loyalty points. Really? I should not have to pay almost $300 to sleep in someone else's disgusting bodily fluids. I am sure the Health Department will love to see the pictures. (They are getting them). I requested a refund and was told this: "We are always committed to creating heartfelt experiences for our Hilton Honors members. Rest assured that we value your business and your loyalty. Upon review of the resolutions offered, I am happy to see that we have awarded a fair if generous gesture to make it right, namely a compensation of 10,000 points. In view of this I do not agree that additional compensation is warranted. Although I am aware this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, I can assure you that I have review this matter with my utmost consideration." Are you kidding me? This was the worst experience we have ever had. Checked into our room, the room was not cleaned, the beds had hair all over the pillows and back boards. The bathroom had toothpaste on the back of the door, shower had hair and dirt everywhere. there was blood on the bathroom floor, house keeping was not available to correct the issue and no other rooms available. front desk came and cleaned the room at 9 at night. no discount was offered. would not book with them again. read more

Very nice new Hampton Inn and Suites! This is a great hotel to stay in for a weekend visit to Walla Walla! It is not far from any of the tasting areas and is also near a grocery store and movie theater in case you find yourself in need while here in the winter! The people who work here are really helpful and kind. One night I got down to the lobby in time to see I had missed the chocolate chip cookies. Having missed them the other night I asked the girl at the front desk if there might be more cookies being made. I'm not sure if she had planned to make more but she said they would be out in 15-20 minutes. Sure enough when I came back down half an hour later the cookies were hot and ready for me. This was very sweet of her and satiated my sweet tooth! The room was very nice and had special touches that other Hampton Inn's don't have - the only downside was that the pool and jacuzzi were outside! Brr in winter! read more

Appearance: Clean and well appointed Overall: This is a solid place to stay. The only negatives are that it is a bit far from downtown and people in big trucks decide to take up 2 (DIAMOND) parking spots right next to the entrance. We were very happy with our stay! This hotel checked all the boxes that hotels should- I was impressed with how clean it was and how friendly the staff was. The breakfast has been modified for COVID, but still has plenty of options. And Vicki, the head breakfast lady was incredibly helpful and accommodating to make sure that our kids with dietary restrictions had full stomachs and left satisfied! It is clear that she enjoys her job! I would highly recommend this hotel to others looking for a clean, quiet and peaceful place to stay with a good breakfast in the mornings. read more

We recently stayed at this Hampton Inn and it was just okay. I've stayed in many other Hampton Inn's before and I felt this one didn't quite meet their standards. The beds were extremely hard, the carpet was filthy dirty, as I found out by the bottom of my daughters black feet after she was walking all around. (I always wear socks or shoes in hotel rooms for this reason but seeing the proof on my daughters feet, how dirty the carpet really was, just grossed me out). The rest of the room seemed fairly clean, however the bathroom had something spilled all over the towel shelves. It looked like coffee.......I'm hoping it was coffee and not urine. We had a horrible time regulating the temperature in the room. We stayed two nights and both nights it would switch from too cold to too hot and stuffy, even though we had the temp set at a certain degree. Due to COVID, the pool wasn't open and they were offering limited breakfast items, which was more than I expected. There was fruit, yogurt, breakfast cakes and bars, and some microwave breakfast sandwiches (which weren't that good but still appreciated). Overall, I would choose a different hotel next time we are in Walla Walla. We just did not sleep good either night we were there so we were very happy to come home to our own bed. read more

Good, solid Hampton. Clean rooms, friendly staff, hot breakfast with plenty of options, and a heated pool and hot tub to enjoy outside. This is what we can count on for Hampton Inn and Suites, and it's why we rarely stay anywhere else while traveling. This one is located conveniently, with downtown a 5 minute drive in one direction and some of the southern wineries a few minutes away in the other direction. Nice hotel. Rooms are clean and updated. We slept well and enjoyed the atmosphere. The front desk was professional, helpful and polite. The breakfast was a little better than the usual "Continental" you'd find at places like Super 8. There were freshly made fruit smoothies. YUM. Nice touch. Stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights for a business trip in the area last month and also last summer, and it was okay for a Hampton Inn. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and location was okay, The reason I'm giving this three stars instead of four is because of the following two reasons: 1. Probably one of the worst hair dryers I have ever encountered at a hotel. I know I may sound petty, but I need a good hair dryer, and this thing had absolutely no power at all. Maybe it was faulty, but I don't think so. If someone would have come in and blown on my hair it would have been the same result. Ladies - just keep that in mind if you stay here. 2. The person who checked me in was very courteous, and very nice (almost too nice), but I'll gladly take that over the unprofessional woman (girl) who checked me out. She barely greeted me when I walked up to the front desk, was chewing gum (in an obvious enough way for me to notice), and looked like she had just gotten out of bed. Maybe she was filling in for a regular person who works there, or having a bad day, but have the common courtesy to greet someone who walks up to the front desk and DON'T CHEW GUM ON THE JOB. read more

Like others have said, I live in these places. Hotel is fine, as are bed, shower, breakfast, etc. but after reading a couple of the other reviews I have to agree regarding the staff attitude towards guests. It really varies tremendously between people at the desk. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. But there were a few that need some training on what customer service is all about. I got the "it's not my job" look and vibe when I raised a concern about the juice machine not working properly at breakfast. And there was the appearance that they were more concerned about their personal discussion than the customer at the desk. I felt like I was interrupting... Perhaps the owner/manager needs to be on-site more. I don't recall seeing anyone who acted like this was their hotel and they were going to assure that the customer was satisfied. read more

Based on the standardization of the brand, it took a lot for me to bring this down to 2 stars. Especially since I live in these places. 1. Two of the desk people were very sweet and pleasant. The one that worked the night of the 25th of July was horrible. Rude and unhelpful to the worst degree. She ignored a little 4 foot tall old woman for over 5 minutes as she spoke on the phone with a friend. Then she told me to look up restaurants on the internet for suggestions. 2. The cleaning crews really like to bang things around. I had to work from my room and had to listen to bashing on the floor above, the walls next and on my door despite the DO NOT DISTURB sign. 3. The worst breakfast setup of any Hampton yet. Slimy pineapple! Lumpy oatmeal. Out of date yogurt. Really a downer that will force me to fore go Hilton points on the next trip and try the Red Lion or Holiday Inn. read more

We had a very nice stay. Facility was extremely clean and free of cleaning supply odors that are found in so many similar hotels. The staff were outstanding. Very friendly and professional. Breakfast was sufficient. We were very impressed with the fresh citrus selection and with the "no hassle" shuttle service to the airport. Our only disappointment was the pool and hot tub. We arrived at the pool area and the place was over run with local folks, both adults and more children than we could count. The water in both the pool and hot tub appeared so murky, it was difficult to see the bottom. Definitely a downer. When we mentioned this problem with the staff, they said this is an ongoing problem. I recommend a card lock system to be installed on the pool area and more enforcement from staff members so that the guests can enjoy this hotel to the fullest. We will visit again and look forward to enjoying the pool at that time. read more

Lets start with the bed - so comfortable. The pillows are heavenly and the bathroom is so very nice. This is the cleanest hotel I have EVER stayed in. We arrived on Christmas day and it was very quite at the hotel. Hardly anyone there. Nice. The breakfast was really good and a very special treat of fresh cut strawberries and blueberries. Great hotel! The check-in took only a minute or so with the friendliest front desk clerk. The room was beautiful. I especially liked the walk-in shower with sliding doors. The pool is very nice and the whirlpool had an ADA chair. We didn't need it but it impressed me that is was there. The breakfast was fantastic! Great place to stay. Yes it's a "Hampton" but don't let that fool you - it clean, well located, attentive management, and decent amenities. If you are visiting schools, wine country, or just enjoying a weekend in one of Washington's great historic towns this hotel is a strong option. They have a pool, hut tub, decent breakfast and afternoon wine tasting; oh they also have a a shuttle if you fly in. Convenient to both Whitman and Walla Walla U. As a review before mine said, this Hampton Inn is a cut above the rest. This is a super solid choice if staying in Walla Walla. Because the town is fairly small, and everything is quick and easy to get to, there really is no need to pick a place for location reasons. So don't let the fact that the Hampton Inn isn't downtown throw you - it's still a very convenient location. Rooms are nice, clean, and have a modern feel to them. My room had a faulty heating/AC system (early January and my AC wouldn't shut off and switch to heat). They tried to fix it, but couldn't figure out exactly what the problem was. So they not only moved me to a new room, but they upgraded me to a suite! There is a standard continental breakfast in the lobby area each morning, and warm cookies and water put out each evening. There is a small, but clean and functioning fitness center and business center. And, when you check in, they ask you what floor you would like to stay on. Most places just stick you somewhere, but here they actually ask. When I come back to Walla Walla, this is where I will stay. And for dog owners, there is a nice, fenced in dog park right across the street. read more
