We normally don't have this good of an experience at a hotel. But, we can say were extremely pleased in choosing The Hampton Inn. The staff is wonderful and treated us with the greatest hospitality. The rooms are extremely cozy and warm. Our bed was so comfortable that we were able to easily nap on it in the evening and then sleep all through the night. The pillows are also extremely comfortable. It is very quiet in this hotel, which is something that we definitely appreciate it as that may not always happen. Even though I know that could be out of the hands of the hotel staff. In the morning, we walked down to breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food they offered for us to eat. I was even happy that they have Coffee-mate creamer to the tables where you get your coffee. I was excited about the Coffee-mate creamer, so it was a personal perk of mine. There is a woman who works there. I think her name is Penny. But I observed her as she walked around and offered assistance to every single person who walked into the breakfast area. She is a woman maybe in her late forties or early fifties. She has medium brown hair and glasses. She even offered to make a woman's waffle for her. Her goal this morning was to accommodate everyone she encountered. When I talked to her about the breakfast and how good it was, she told me that Yolanda was the one who gets up and makes all the breakfast and works hard to ensure that everyone has a good breakfast in the morning. The only thing we were disappointed in was the listing says there is a bar and lounge. But when we walked last night to look for one, the young man at the front desk said there wasn't one. We just walked across the street to the pepperoni place and sat in their bar and still had a great time. read more

Let's begin by saying the hotel is under construction and renovation. We were not informed nor was it indicated when booking. 2 rooms, 2 nights, suites with king beds. Checked in -one room wrong. Nothing else available. Ok. Went to room to find the toilet seat abused and the staff did not even clean it disgusting. Can't even correct or move rooms. The hotel is so under construction that you cannot even go to breakfast without going outside and coming back in. And don't ask for hot eggs or a protein. There are no sausage patties, sausage links, or bacon. After one night, no one even cleaned our room. Either room. We do know they enter the room because they took the trolley cart outside of our room. But no maid service. The first morning we are woke by the fire suppression system going off and people banging on our doors to get out. Not only once but twice. Then on the second morning after asking if the laundry washer/dryer were OK proceeded to do laundry to find out they were not properly working and our clothes are sitting in muck. While they trust the Hilton name, I will never be staying at a Spahr again and much of this could've been avoided if it was properly handled by employees. Let your customers know that you are under construction, be attentive to the details and make sure staff are cleaning rooms properly. For now this hotel is on fire. It's not a spark. The staff are friendly and the place is clean, but the brand Spark doesn't offer the value of services for the price. At all. For $196 a night, I really expect something other than microwave pancakes, hard boiled eggs, and danish for breakfast. The shower was lukewarm at best. IHG down the street charges $40/night less. I had stayed in this hotel the prior year, and was expecting a similar experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I was expecting a Hampton Inn, but it has changed to something called "Spark". This is now a bargain basement hotel, and it shows. There is no housekeeping unless you specifically request it, so no clean towels. The breakfast buffet has been downgraded, as well. I will say, however, that the staff at the front desk was still friendly and accomodating. I will NOT be staying here again though. read more

This was a first for us. Though I had checked into to hotel 3 days prior to our arrival, I got a notice on my phone to stop at the desk. The clerk told me that my room was not available because someone else had reserved it. I questioned how someone could reserve a room that I had already checked into. She asked if a similar room would be okay, I said sure as long as it wasn't on the first floor. Suddenly the smile on her face was gone. She said she'd get her GM. Minutes lates when she returned, in a most unfriendly manner she encoded a key to the room I had checked into. On balance our room was very clean and comfortable. The hallways and elevator were not. Service. Not great. They were clearly understaffed. With 15+ minute waits on the front desk. I don't follow the line of thought that we can't help. If you don't have sufficient staff to support your capacity then simply reduce your capacity that matches your available staff. Breakfast. Standard HI breakfast. No complaints there. Rooms. Dated by about 20 years. Not overly clean either. I am pretty loyal to Hilton Brands but I would skip here unless they update and add staff. read more

While I was standing at the reception desk, waiting my turn to be serviced, the customer service person told a parent of a baseball player, "We didn't know you were still coming." The parent replied, "We paid for these rooms 2 months ago. You are telling me you not only didn't know we were coming, but you do not have the baseball team in a block of rooms?" This pretty well set the tone for the 2 days I spent at this facility. The hotel was supposed to take our tour groups luggage to their assigned rooms. They didn't. I schlepped my suitcase to my room myself. They did not clean the rooms after the first night; not even take out the garbage. The "complimentary breakfast" was very small and it was difficult to just get a cup of coffee. The second day I asked for additional towels, not knowing that we would not have our rooms cleaned, after all with a name like Hampton Inn/Hilton Honors, I had expectations, but no such luck. I was told "We do not have additional towels available." Wow! Really? I have NEVER heard that before. The day our tour group depart they did not have staff available to help us with luggage so we again schlepped our luggage out of the hotel. Not impressed! Very disappointing for a Hilton Honors facility. read more

I seldom review hotels anymore with doing more Air B&B and staying with friends on trips. I have a few reasons to weigh in. Mainly to give a current snap shot of the property. The grounds were kept up with no debris that I saw on check in. The parking lot is small for the amount of rooms as I found out later in the day. Signage is good and overall the exterior maintained. Check-in was efficient and staff friendly. Lobby was basic, but clean. The key card worked on first try so bonus there. The double Queen room was prepared for my families arrival. The room was clean, but it was dated. The climate control worked. The bed and pillows comfortable. The vanity wood was worn down and finish almost completely off. However, the plumbing worked fine in both sink and shower. My wife checked out the FREE hot breakfast and said it was adequate and enjoyed. I will mention the location last, but it was the best part. The Hampton Inn was easy to access off the highway and close to downtown as well as distilleries. Nothing may be far in Bardstown really, however this hotels proximity to what we were interested in was perfect. I really think a 3.5 fits them best. I'm rounding down with outdated room. Keep in mind nothing was broken or unclean. I would return. read more

This place is disgusting! I looks like it has not been refreshed in 40 years. The smell of alcohol and cigarettes was the first thing I noticed going down the hallway. Got in the room and my wife wanted to go and check out. The room seemed dirty. The accessible parking is not to code. We were told our room was all the way back so we should use the last entrance. We went to that entrance and the ramp was so steep I could not get up it. On the other side of the building halfway to the front was an accessible entrance. The accessible room had a roll in shower with a bench but the controls were at opposite end so you need someone to operate them for you. The cover on the drain under the sink was falling off. Bardstown native here. My family has been hosting friends and out of town family at the Hampton for many years, and it's always a good experience. This year we held an event there, a large gathering. This is a lovely hotel! Every member of the staff greeted us warmly when we crossed paths. Our room was clean and comfortable. The pool was a bit overly chlorinated, but it was still a pleasant area that included a pool-side lift to help wheelchair bound individuals access the pool. If you can stay somewhere else so, our toilet over flowed and they bring a plunger hand it to me for me to fix, the guy that brought the plunger did bring some towels to soak up the water. We asked for our room to be cleaned and have the towels picked up that were used to soak up the water from the over flow of the toilet we left the hotel at 9:30 am and returned at 9:00 pm and the room wasn't cleaned and no knew towels so this is two days in a row.When we arrived back I asked for new towels and for someone to come and take our old towels away that were used to soak up the toilet water the girl On duty brought some new towels and a basket for the old towels and then acted like I was suppose to pick the old towels up and put in the basket. The fire alarm went of at 6:00 AM still don't know why that was about.They are under staffed and not very helpful If you don't have to stay here do not. read more

The rooms were run down, and their toilets over flowed in two rooms. They had a plunger but I had to go get it at front desk. Their Snack and drinks were low in lobby. On a good note the Staff was friendly. I was woken up by a couple fighting in the next room, then when I was just getting back to sleep the smoke alarm went off, ugh. No explanation by staff on what happened. They do provide a coffee bar in lobby and complimentary breakfast, which was fair. We will look for another motel next visit and won't go back until it's cleaned up. read more

Booked a stay here because we have stayed at Hampton Inns many times and have had good experiences. We should have known once we walked in that it isn't really a Hampton Inn. I don't know why Hilton allows its brand to be placed on this ramshackle unkept place. It is in serious need of renovation. The shower tiles were cracked and dirty, the ceiling had been repaired (not very well), the table was rickety, etc etc. If it had been warmer I would have slept in the car. I can only guess that the better reviews are from friends or people who have really enjoyed the Bourbon Trail and feel so great that they aren't creeped out by the seedy quality of the carpet, walls and uninterested attitude of the staff. SAD. Bardstown is nice - needs some decent hotels. read more

A bit of an upgrade from Quality Inn. Issue #1: No microwave or fridge at $119 a night should be standard. Get rid of oversized dresser already. Pillows are thin. Next time I travel I will bring my own pillow. Beds much softer and better quality then Quality Inn. The hotel only has a pool, no hot tub. The pool temp was warm also. Looked like black mildew on side of pool, a turn off also blades of grass in pool. The breakfast here was more of a variety. Biscuits and gravy, Canadian Bacon, Cheese Omelets, fruit, yougurt, rice, oatmeal. This is a Hilton owned hotel. Would stay again. read more

Stayed here during Covid. The precautions the staff have implemented here are great. My biggest gripe is that the room I stayed in was very worn, tired, and somewhat dirty. Couch was dirty, plain and simple. Walls in room had lots of scuff marks. With the location, and seemingly lack of hotels in Bardstown, this could easily be a 5 star Yelp property. I was not impressed. Stayed here for a disabled deer hunt. The staff was not friendly at all. There were no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms, high priced hotel should include these appliances. They had promised breakfast for the hunters but Saturday breakfast for the hunters did not happen because they did not have it ready in time. They did offer grab bags but those were pitiful nothing but water and fruit. We saw several bugs in the shower and several in the hallway. So disappointing for a Hilton hotel. Not accommodating to the disabled, especially those in wheelchairs and scooters you would think they could keep them on the first floor especially in case of emergency but that was not the case. read more

But I don't know if I understand what the parameters are for being "on a budget". When are you not on a budget? What is the nicest hotel you have stayed in under those circumstances? How often are you staying on a budget vs. not staying on a budget. Who determines your budget? These all need to be answered before I can get behind this review. As far as my experience goes, this place was fine. I'd stay again if I happened to be in Bardstown which by no means to I ever expect to be in again. So basically, three stars. I've stayed at quite a few Hamptons in my day. I picked this one in Bardstown because I was looking for something predictable during our visit and this one did not disappoint. When I stay at a Hampton, I expect coffee 24/7, comfy beds, and good bedding. What made this one stand out beyond the others, was that our room was CLEAN, sparkling effing clean. When we were leaving I caught sight of one of the housekeeping personnel on her hands and knees scrubbing the floors in another room. Damn, I have been in plenty of hotels where that has not been the case. As far as amenities, there are 1-2 low-cost restaurants within walking distance and they have a pool but no jacuzzi to rest your poor sore tourist muscles. read more

However, the breakfast crew and the housekeeping staff were wonderful. Just be prepared to be 'argued with and intimidated' if you need to discuss an issue with the upper management. Trash was left behind refrigerator area. there was a comforter on the bed but no sheets. The ottoman was badly stained with a large quarter size spotted that could have been blood. read more

Probably the nicest chain hotel in the area, which isn't saying much. I've been in nicer Hampton Inns, and I've been in some less nice than this one. The room is clean. That's sort of the extent of the positives. The not as great aspects were as follows: *the wifi is pretty dreadful. Sure, it's free. But it's very sluggish. *our room is directly next to the pool, and it is so loud, at all times of day and night. *the woman who checked us in at the desk was thoroughly rude. She treated us like we were stupid and interrupting her evening. Honestly the top requirement for a front desk clerk is to be welcoming. She was not. Maybe we got her on a rough day. Who knows. *the toilet in our room constantly runs. I called about it and they never sent anyone during our 3 night stay to check it out. *there are no fans in the bathroom. I never understand when hotels don't include bathroom fans. Automatic negative review from me. Bardstown seems like an armpit of a place, and I've seen some real armpits. read more

This is an above average home base for a bourbon tasting weekend or just a stay in Bardstown for other events like cycling. We took our 2 small dogs and were happy with the location and easy acess to grassy areas for the dogs. The hotel is off a main street so there are plenty of side streets to walk. Rm 121 is on the 1st floor, next to the pool, ice machines and an access door to the outside. Pretty quiet and a very short walk to the coffee and breakfast food. I would stay here again. read more

It was spotless and recently renovated but nonetheless it was old. It's a 2 story deal that looks like the old motels from the 1960's. However, it was the only decent place in the city to stay. One night is $150.00, which you know why! Because its the nicest in town and the Comfort Inn is scary. Internet was lame, the breakfast was high caloric, nothing fresh and healthy at all, and the check in staff was probably the rudest women I've met. They also smoked - can you imagine in this day and age anyone smoking in front of a hotel!!!! Someone should build a new hotel in this city with all the outside businesses that are located on the town as well as the bourbon festival. Wishful thinking I suppose. read more
