We stayed there last Friday and Saturday and loved the place. The owner Paul is a great guy and very friendly. The breakfast was excellent and we even bought some souvenirs.

Jailer's Inn was very comfortable and a great base for our 3 day adventure. Paul made excellent recommendations for dining too.

Just returned from staying 3 nights at the Jailer's Inn B&B. We were 2 couples and stayed in rooms 8 (The Honey Suite) and 9 (The Nautical Suite). They were beautiful and perfect for us. These rooms are in a connecting building, steps away from the front door of the B&B. You walked into a shared living area that also had a dinning/conference room. Your private area was 2 rooms and a bathroom. We also had a small refrigerator and sink to wash some cups and mugs after coffee, which was also set up for us everyday in our shared living room. The breakfasts were delicious and the innkeeper is quite entertaining. He knows the area well and recommended restaurants for us for lunch/dinner. All were very good.

Everything was fantastic from arrival (after 7 pm and they were very kind about my arrival time), my stay, breakfast, and jail tour. Grounds are beautiful, my room was extremely clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious! I stayed in the Victorian room. I was traveling alone so this wasn't an issue for me, but the private bath didn't have a door, so if you prefer more privacy, you may want to look into another room. No spooky experiences for me, but I had the best sleep I've had in ages! Bed is very comfy. Wifi is great and TV had all the channels. The hosts were entertaining & delightful. I hope I have the opportunity to return!

Overall, this is just a great place to stay. The owner, Paul, is super friendly as is the rest of his staff, Lisa and Ashley. Just ask a question about the history and the supposed ghosts of the jail and they happily share their knowledge. All the rooms are beautifully done and very comfortable. Every morning Paul or Lisa provide a delicious breakfast whether it's the specialty of blackberry cream cheese stuffed french toast or the savory sausage potato cheese bake. I would definitely return. And by the way, this is the best location for the historical tours, bourbon tours or just enjoying the area.

Booked 3 rooms for my family who was visiting from South Carolina. They absolutely raved about their stay here! The rooms could be conjoined with sitting rooms for visiting and separate bathrooms. The owners were very accommodating and so kind. Enjoyed the hot breakfast every morning. The location was also perfect walking distance from everywhere in town! It was wonderful!

Wow! My husband and I stayed here two nights while our boys were at Ft. Knox for Advanced Camp. We thought about staying in Louisville until a friend originally from Kentucky urged me to stay in Bardstown. He said in reply to my recommendation for a hotel... who needs a hotel when you can stay at any number of B&Bs? He's right. There are several B&Bs to choose from. BUT if you EVER have an opportunity to stay at Jailer's Inn you will not be disappointed. First, the building, a renovated jailhouse, is 200 years old and full of history. Secondly The ample rooms are decorated nicely and have all the conveniences of home. Our king bed in the Library Room was extremely comfortable. We were Very impressed with the fresh crisp and clean linens. If you stay in the Library Room (or probably any room upstairs) bring your favorite air freshener. There is a slight odor that probably comes with the age of the house. Who knows. That is the ONLY negative I have. ALL the positives outweigh hugely this one and only negative. Thirdly, the innkeepers were so welcoming, accommodating and attentive to us and our every need. Fourthly, the breakfast is superb. Every item was fresh or homemade. Delicious!!! Fifthly, the outside courtyard was beautiful. Plenty of seating in the shade or in the sun. Very nicely maintained and manicured. Finally, the jailhouse itself. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We went and got our boys and a couple of their cadet friends for family day and brought them to Bardstown for the day. We ate across the street from the Inn at Mammy's. So good. And then came back and let them tour the jail. They loved it! And they also enjoyed a few games of chess in the lobby. Then we gathered outside in the courtyard for dessert and coffee with the guys. What great memories we made there at Jailer's Inn. You will love this place. It's so great! Also, the drive between Bardstown and Fort Knox is spectacular Kentucky countryside. Beautiful.

This place is completely awesome, and freaky too. I've never stayed at a bed and breakfast. When I visited my relatives in Kentucky, we stayed here. The name "Jailers Inn" is exactly what you get, A real jail! At first we thought it was a theme type bed and breakfast where each room had a special theme. Yes, they were themed, but more so than we thought. There's several rooms including a 1819 Room, Garden Room, Colonial Room, (the room I stayed in) and the "Jail cell" room. This room really was a former jail cell, let alone, jail, complete with the original bunk beds that prisoners actually slept in. My brother and his wife stayed in this room, and I swear, she slept maybe a couple hours at most because she was so scared. The door was cast iron and around the corner were the other original jail cells that prisoners were held in. Iron bars were all around, with newspaper clippings of different stories of murderers, rapists, KKK people, etc... In the backyard they did hangings/executions of prisoners who received the death penalty. It's not there anymore but there's actual photographs inside the inn. Freaky! This place was a jail from the early 1800's all the way up until 1987! It's listed as #9 on the top 10 scariest places to visit. The good thing about everything is that Lisa, the person running the inn, doesn't tell you all the info on stories that have happened to her, and detailed stories of what happened at this jail until the next morning when you're about to check out. But, if you're planning on going there or want to hear about some details check out my youtube page, I recorded a vid of her giving the rundown. Thanks to Lisa who accommodated us so well, she makes a mean breakfast and has so much info on this historic place. I will be back if I am ever in the Bardstown, KY area. For my room, I got the colonial room, it was plush. A double-jacuzzi/shower, queen size bed, fan/ac, and a TV. There's so much more to write but I'll leave it at that because the best part is discovering it while you are actually there... Overall I highly recommend this place if you are an adventurous type, just keep in mind that this place is not for the faint of heart. It is good for couples, but may not be the most romantic place to some people. Families with young children are NOT recommended. While the inn is nice, don't expect the amenities to be top notch. It's a former jail people! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uE_E4ypMvM -- my site with the story on the jailers inn. Had been trying to book the jail cell room for a while, and found out that it is not rented in the winter months as it is unheated. We reserved the Victorian room. We showed up pretty late, but called ahead and the woman was still there to check us in. We had the run of the place and the pick of the rooms. Even a mini-tour before we picked our room. We chose the first floor room with the Jacuzzi tub (forget the name). It was real nice - most rooms have been recently updated as of January 2016. Comfortable, warm ... and real damned quiet. Note that most nearby places close down by 10 or 11, so we were lucky we brought our own food. Had a picnic in the room and settled in for the night. That's when the noises started. Muffled conversation, footsteps in the hallway ... no one was there! The place was empty. Very odd. The woman asked us what time we wanted breakfast, and it was ready when we were ready after we showered. Paul McCoy, the owner, joined us for breakfast (at our request). Great guy, full of stories of the Jail and the history surrounding it. He took us on a detailed tour of the place and the jail. Cool, different, comfortable, affordable. Highly recommend.

The owners added hospitality by having a full coffee service, snacks, and some cereal for a light breakfast. The house is also right on the central circle in Bardstown, so walking to restaurants was very convenient. However, this house is right on the main thoroughfare in Bardstown, and less than 50 ft from the road. The constant traffic noise made it very difficult to sleep, as the bed is located right next to the window facing the street. On Saturday, the noise was constant until after 2:30 am and on Sunday the noise did not abate until after 12:30 am. Each morning the noise started again about 6 am. This was a constant barrage of loud mufflers, pickups and diesel trucks. There is also a traffic light out on the street so we heard these noisy vehicles accelerating from the light. If you have an issue with noise at night I recommend that you investigate other properties. This room, with taxes and fees, was over $200 per night and I don't feel we got that type of value

The house itself looks little run down from the outside, but still appears clean and operational. Ann, the housekeeper/owner, has decorated the home with more trinkets from travels than I have ever seen in my life. If you stay here she will give you an elaborate tour describing every detail of nearly every piece of furniture and artwork in the house (so be prepared for a lengthy tour). She is incredibly friendly and kind, however quite talkative, so be prepared to be stealthy if you want to come and go without being caught in a lengthy conversation. The home is very historic and elegant, but not luxurious. The beds are old and somewhat uncomfortable. The bathrooms are ornate, but are equipped with old, lacy towels and large bottles of shampoo that I imagine have been there for ages. Both mornings that we were there, Ann prepared us hearty breakfasts including baked apples, pecan french toast with bourbon syrup and fried green tomatoes. If you're a person in need of wi-fi for business or pleasure you won't get any here and there isn't anywhere close to go and find it. Furthermore most of the outlets in the house are older and will not accommodate the power supply for your laptop. Simply put, be prepared to live essentially as a minimalist during your stay. A big perk to this bed and breakfast (or any of them in this area) is that it's located very close to the Bourbon Trail. We toured Maker's Mark and Heaven Hill distilleries, but I can talk about those later. While the home looks beautiful and the local area is gorgeous, the price per night here is far too high for what you get. We've stayed in better homes with more amenities for far cheaper. I've read the other Yelp user have reported this location as closed, but we stayed here earlier this week and can assure you it's open. Ann did mention that it may close during the winter because she does not heat the house.

Fantastic. The basic…read morerequirements of a bed and breakfast is to give you somewhere to sleep and some food in the morning. You're Invited Inn was so much more, and so fantastic, that it's the perfect spot to stay when you're touring the Bourbon Trail. Easter and Alvin are fantastic hosts, and their house sits not far from the highway. Their directions are easy to follow, and GPS easily finds the address which is even more important when your flight's delayed and you don't get to the area until after midnight. They left us a note on the door, made sure we could get in, and the room was beautiful and even included some homemade brownies as a "sorry for the airlines being lame!" goodnight snack. The bed, at least in the red room we stayed in, was a king size and included a couch, supple carpet and a bathroom with a soaking tub. But we weren't interested, just interested in sleeping, which we did forthwith. Breakfast, similarly, was as fantastic as you'd expect it to be. It's the first three-course breakfast I'd ever had, and included an appetizer (coffee cake), a main course (potatoes, eggs and bacon and/or sausage) as well as a dessert. More coffee than you can shake a stick at, and flexible timing so if you want breakfast a little earlier or later, Easter would work with you to make that happen. For Bourbon Fest, and a lot of other prime leaf-viewing weekends, people make reservations a long time in advance, so get your request in early. It's one of the best spots to stay.

We had looked at the historic rooms at the nearby Tavern (our reason for visiting), but decided not to take our chance on stairs we'd have to negotiate to get to a room. However, the Inn has a very large and convenient elevator, so that's the place we chose. (Note: the elevator is very slow...but what's the rush?) The reception desk and area is small but adequate with odds and ends of tchotchkes for sale. Receptionist was very polite. Our room was spacious! And...I mean bigger than the photos represent and much larger than we imagined. Large comfy bed, plenty of soft and medium pillows, fridge, microwave, chairs to lounge, relax, or read. Complementary bottles of water, coffee and coffee maker. All nice touches. And thermostat was easy to adjust. Bathroom was fine, clean, well-stocked with one notable exception, which we find in nearly every hotel we stay in these days: No towel rods to hang wet towels or wash cloths. That is, except one hook high up on the back of the bathroom door. (Virtually out of reach for my wife. We find this an unreasonable inconvenience in all our travels....(so only a half point deduction here.) Windows provided beautiful views of the square and were seemingly well-insulated....so no terrible traffic noises to keep us awake during the night. (OK...A few trucks in the morning, but not too early.) All-in-all we give this lodging very high marks and our solid recommendation. Oh, and very reasonably priced to boot!
