Stayed here for one night's lodging after attending an event in the area. The room was fantastic with comfortable accommodations and I slept well after an initial adjustment period to the street noise below my window. I was in the upstairs corner Lincoln Suite and the stone walls are thick and several layers of draperies contribute to the quietude. Although the building is old, many modernized remodels have been completed. However, do not expect an up-to-date type space. For example, there is a slight step up into the bathroom. The door to the room also rattled whenever someone else closed a door elsewhere .... Or maybe that was Lincoln's ghost? I was too tired to fret about it and slept well. Would recommend staying here at least once for a unique experience. Breakfast was included in the room rate. Menu is in the room to contemplate ahead of time. Went down to the dining area prior to my check out and had a nice dining experience. Ordered the Traditional Breakfast option and it was well prepared and satisfying, so overall also a great value. There is also a Keurig coffeemaker in the room. Staff are all very welcoming and proficient. Parking was free next to the property. read more

4.5 What a pleasant and enjoyable stay! We were completely surprised by the comfort and conveniences provided at the Talbott Inn. We had looked at the historic rooms at the nearby Tavern (our reason for visiting), but decided not to take our chance on stairs we'd have to negotiate to get to a room. However, the Inn has a very large and convenient elevator, so that's the place we chose. (Note: the elevator is very slow...but what's the rush?) The reception desk and area is small but adequate with odds and ends of tchotchkes for sale. Receptionist was very polite. Our room was spacious! And...I mean bigger than the photos represent and much larger than we imagined. Large comfy bed, plenty of soft and medium pillows, fridge, microwave, chairs to lounge, relax, or read. Complementary bottles of water, coffee and coffee maker. All nice touches. And thermostat was easy to adjust. Bathroom was fine, clean, well-stocked with one notable exception, which we find in nearly every hotel we stay in these days: No towel rods to hang wet towels or wash cloths. That is, except one hook high up on the back of the bathroom door. (Virtually out of reach for my wife. We find this an unreasonable inconvenience in all our travels....(so only a half point deduction here.) Windows provided beautiful views of the square and were seemingly well-insulated....so no terrible traffic noises to keep us awake during the night. (OK...A few trucks in the morning, but not too early.) All-in-all we give this lodging very high marks and our solid recommendation. Oh, and very reasonably priced to boot! read more

The location of this newer hotel is great. Right downtown and next door to the Old Talbott Inn. The staff was very friendly! They have a small gift shop. If you stay you also get free breakfast over at the Tavern. The only thing not making this 4 or 5 stars are the rooms themselves. The rooms are smallish. And our room only had a bed. No chair. So your only option is to lay on bed. Thankfully we had a camping chair with. It's a boutique hotel, would be awesome if they had a little sitting area outside. read more

My fiancé and I had fantastic stay at Talbott Inn when we stayed in Bardstown! We read some great reviews on the Inn when we were planning a bourbon trail trip and were impressed with what we saw. Let me tell you that this place is a great place to stay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We met the owner who gave us the history of the Inn and it's famous guests (Abraham Lincoln, Jesse James, George Patton). The room we were in (Daniel Boone room) was spacious and perfect for two people. The breakfast included each morning was the best continental breakfast that I've ever had. We came here due to the history of the Talbott tavern and the location right in town. Well we were very happy here. The location cannot be beat. The rooms were modern and well appointed. And the most important thing. Clean! The staff here was very helpful. The breakfast is just ok but decent for an included breakfast. We ate it all but one morning that we wanted to try a local place. At the last minute, we decided to stop in Bardstown to do some Bourbon shopping. We were lucky enough to get a room at the Talbott Inn. The Inn is one of the oldest buildings in Bardstown, built in 1779. Many famous people have stayed here, including Abraham Lincoln and Jesse James. We stayed in the newer part our room was large and very comfortable. There is a restaurant and bar at the Inn we didn't eat at the restaurant but did enjoy the bar. Just a heads up that everything in Bardstown closes up early. The only disappointment was the breakfast. It was cold, and the waitress looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there. read more

Went to dine at the Historic Talbott Tavern. Beforehand we looked through the gift shop which was filled with lots of interesting items. Since it is located in Bardstown, KY which is the Bourbon Capital of the World it is filled with just about anything having to do with bourbon including candy, glasses and bourbon cigars!? After eating, we were allowed to tour the Inn. It is very rich in history so I took photos of the many bits of historic tales of who had stayed there before. We couldn't see the inside of any of the rooms because they were filled completely up. Since we only live 45 minutes away we wouldn't have a real need to do so, but having no vacancies is a good sign. Built in 1779! and here the village where I live is historic - incorporated in 1855. They beat us by a long shot! read more

The reason this hotel gets 2 stars is for its beauty, historic value and cleanliness. That's it. The service was poor. After driving since 4 am, it was very disappointing to hear that our room would not be ready until 4:30. No apologies, no compensations. The young man at the check in desk didn't even act like he cared. The room was clean, but the bed was so uncomfortable, we got hardly a wink of sleep. It was lop sided and I thought I would roll off. When the restaurant is full, as hotel guests, there was no where for us to park after a long day on the bourbon trail. A 3 day stay quickly turned into a 2 day stay. PS. Because of the age of the building, there are no elevators. read more

We checked in and was greeted in a friendly manner. We booked a queen bed because they didn't have king size bed. The room was comfortable but there was only one table in the room so we had to use a luggage rack with the serving tray as a table. Beginning at 7 pm, a band plays which makes it very hard to hear the tv or talk. Nothing was mentioned about this when you make the reservation. We weren't told until we arrived at the hotel. Should have been informed about this before booking! We were given the room right over where the band was playing. There were empty rooms not that close to where the band. It would have been nice to have a choice of room. I was very disappointed with my stay at Old Talbots and then where you have to make your reservation charged a fee of $17.99! This is another thing we should have been told when booking. The Inn does not take reservations over the phone. I would Not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never stay there again! read more

This is a historic building in a old town so know what you're getting into! Its never going to be able to be a 4-5 star hotel in a big city, but that's one of the reasons you should stay here. With that being said we had a nice night there. It was a litttle noisy even after the bar closed at 10pm but the bathroom fan comply drowned out the noise and they make great pains to warn you about the noise before you book. The breakfast was very good but its a one size fits all. The staff just ask you how many and then put a plate of eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and hash browns in front of you. They had orange juice, milk, and coffee to drink. The bed was a bit small for two people, as was the bathroom and we had a bit of trouble locking our door - the handle itself was jiggling out of place! Also the mini frost is super old and makes strange noises all night. I had to get up to unplug it. All and all its a little rundown, our sink had cips and cracks in it and the shower curtain needs to be replaced! Its really starting to show its age. However I frimly believe that eeryone should experience staying in a small town-old-timmy hotel once! read more

My husband and I stayed here for three night while in town for a wedding. I have stayed here before so I can say with certainty that it has really went downhill. The room had a musty odor, the carpet was unclean, and the furniture was not in good condition. Our towels were dingy and literally had holes in them! I went to the check in desk to inquire about a to go order and was told that they couldn't do that because the kitchen was backed up and they had a large party there. I understand being short staffed, but after the condition of our room that was just another disappointment. They do serve breakfast in the morning which was pretty good. On our second morning they were out of coffee and coffee cups. We did ask, but we got our breakfast and finished it while waiting so we gave up and left. I did attempt to reach out to management directly, but the voicemail box was full and my call to the front desk went unanswered. I know this place can be quite nice and a good experience, but that was not the case this visit and even though the location is nice, there are newer, well kept options in Bardstown now that I will try next time. read more

We came here when we were visiting Louisville this summer, it's a really cool little gift shop.. we didn't stay at the inn but the guests we were speaking to said it was really cute. We visited because it's an awesome part of history & the bourbon bar restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Kentucky. All Covid protocols are being followed. Lovely inn with such history. We also ate dinner at the restaurant. Delicious. I finished my hot brown and I never finish a meal. Capped off the night at the bourbon bar where we met the nicest lady who eventually revealed herself to be an owner. Even gave us free shot glasses from the gift shop! Breakfast In the morning was simple but delicious. We enjoyed the audio tour of the building as well. Not fancy, but clean, pleasant, and worthy of a stay if you haven't. read more

A HUGE mistake. I booked a room for 2 nights and specifically paid extra for a room which the Talbott Inn web site described as "gorgeous view of the Court Square". BEWARE. All night we listened to trucks circling the the square. It was horrible. The room had an air conditioning unit above one of the two queen beds. It blew on the bed all night even with adjusting the vents. It was so damp in the room the bath towels felt wet. The ceiling had spots on it. We found out it was due to the roof leaking. Please note, we did not stay in the historic building, this was their new building. A good indicator of customer service was when we returned from breakfast there was a workman waiting to paint our ceiling. He was advised that the room was unoccupied. Stay clear of the Talbott Inn as well as the restaurant (which I will review separately). You may be wondering why I didn't approach management.
