Everything. This hotel is in a beautiful area and I can honestly say that it is the dirtiest room in a Hampton Inn that we've ever had! Hair, rust, mold and just filth in the bathroom. I was scalded by the water in shower as the handle would not stay put and kept creeping to the Hot. Toilet paper holder is broken. Hamptons used to be so nice. Hilton should be ashamed of this hotel and do a complete remodel or sell it to Super 8. read more

Three night stay in November 2025 for a work conference. Convenient and walking distance to the venue as well as Starbucks. Hotel itself is a typical Hampton. It's clean enough. The beds are comfortable enough. And there is a basic breakfast spread (I didn't have, but my colleagues did). I've stayed at Hamptons a number of times over the years when it's convenient and usually when it's for work travel. This gets the job done for those situations. Compared to other Hamptons, I thought it was a little run down and could use some refresh overall both in and out of the rooms, but it's not awful. Just average. When I come back I will probably stay off Daniel Island next time, but if I needed to stay on, I wouldn't have a problem staying here for a quick trip. The 2nd day of my one week stay, someone cancelled all the room keys to the entire hotel, and we all had to go to the front desk to get them reprogrammed. I asked the front desk girl on Wednesday May 14 at 6:30pm "Where is a good place to watch the sunset?" She said that she comes up the interstate to work here, and she doesn't know anything about the area. I don't understand why her supervisor doesn't insist that she learn about the area. They only clean the rooms every other day. The beds are hard. There is a mini fridge, but no microwave. The water pressure is not bad. Breakfast is not bad. Katrina was amazing at check in and throughout the trip. She was friendly, courteous and gave great advice about the area. Shaquanna our housekeeper made sure we were properly taken care of. She was on time and accommodating. The breakfast on the weekend was amazing. The only issue for me was breakfast during the weekdays. Soon as I arrived to check in I am told , I don't have a reservation from the front desk person , I checked in via Hilton app. later he tells me it's an it issue the toilets are constantly running , they sent a repair guy he's wasn't able to fix anything , soon as he leaves it runs again , the tv doesn't work . Disappointed. I thought being that I booked a Hampton and it was in Daniel Island we were good. I was shocked at how dated and run down it was. The check in employee was nice. The lobby was fine. However, we had to park at the neighbor hotel and walk to get to the hotel. There wasn't any parking spots available. Upon entering the room it was stuffy. The furniture was beat up and the couch was faded and discolored. I always had comfortable beds at Hampton Inn. The bed was awful. The mattress had no support and it was not comfortable. The pillows were sad. The one time I traveled without my pillow. I am glad we were only staying one night. I tried calling the front desk several times the next morning and not once did anyone pick up. The breakfast was sparse. The staff wasn't refilling it. However her kids were there and they were all socializing and enjoying themselves. I had some dry sausage and a waffle. There wasn't even any bananas. Sadly, I would not recommend. Stayed 7 nights in May 2024. Very nice and clean hotel. The pool was large and not alot of activity around it. Very peaceful. They clean the room every other day. Staff very friendly. Very centrally located 20 + minute to Charleston and Plantations in each direction. Hot breakfast changes daily and most of it was really good (did not like the turkey sausage very rubbery). I've been to this Hampton Inn several times. The only good recurring perk is the customer service. The people working here are always friendly and provide quick service. However, every room I've stayed in has a funky/musty smell to it. It's not horrible enough to request a new room, but rank enough to notice. I've got a good collection of bugs I've killed from each stay I've had. Bugs don't typically bother me in any environment, but it will bother you if you're squeamish. The pool is alright, better than some Hampton inns, but needs some TLC. The breakfast is about as good as any other hotel breakfast. Nothing special. read more

I would rate this hotel higher but I feel the flaw I will describe brings it down a lot. The shower. it was the slipperiest shower I have encountered ever. even though there was one grab bar, it was awful. couldn't let go to reach for shampoo for even a second. I warned my husband, and even forewarned he found it dangerous. the lobby furniture was pretty dirty. and last complaint, the halls were absolutely freezing. room floors were dirty. After a long day of driving, my fiancé checked into our room at the Hampton Inn Charleston - Daniel Island in the late evening. The staff was friendly and accommodating upon check-in. We had room 315 which was incredibly spacious! It had its own living/dining area, and our bedroom was perfect for the two of us. I always request a quiet room, and even though I was placed in the middle of the hallway, I never heard a peep all night. It's good to know the walls are thick for a light sleeper, like myself. Clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms made our stay at the Hampton Inn Charleson = Daniel Island perfect. We stayed at the Hampton on a business trip this week. After a long day of flights and traveling, this place was so welcome! Pros and what I liked: -The lobby - clean and bright. -The staff - friendly and accommodating. I mean one of the guys behind the desk even drove some guests to a nearby restaurant because the hotel shuttle was stuck in downtown traffic! -Shuttle service to nearby restaurants, airport, businesses -The rooms... OMG amazing! I had a King Studio. Bright, clean, spacious! The bathroom was immaculate! Lots of counter space and a huge walk in shower! There is a mini fridge and coffee maker available. TV had a swivel so I could watch it while working at the desk. I would definitely recommend this location and would definitely stay here again! read more

It's been over 5 years since I last stayed here, but last month I stayed here for another business trip and I have to say I am impressed at how nice this hotel still is. The hotel, grounds, and rooms are so clean and the staff is super great here; always asking how your stay is going and telling you about stuff going on around town. And in the mornings they have a nice hot breakfast buffet with varying choices each day; and they also have waffles, breads, pastries, and cereal. The restaurant next door, The Islander, offers a free glass of house wine for each night you stay at the Hampton. Hampton also has a shuttle that will take you around the island and pick you up. read more

This was the worst hotel stay in all my times of travel. Early check-in was requested and I was told by Katrina I would be accommodated, no extra charges mentioned. I arrived around 2pm and the night clerk tried to charge a whole night, then said half a night because the time was still considered Thursday on Friday based on their system. I waited in the lobby two hours until 4am for their "system" to reflect Friday. He sarcastically asked if I was ready to check in and still tried to charge $50. I told him I spoke with Katrina. He processed the check-in and I paid for the 2-night reservation. The room was sub-par, snacks looked like they had been in someone's pockets for days. Upon attempting to check out at 3:30am I was told I couldn't get a receipt because of their "system". I would not leave without a printed receipt, glad I did not because I noted a $50 charge for early check-in. I did not authorized the charge, and it was not on the charge when I paid upon check-in. Again, I had spoken with Katrina about checking in early because of the timing of my flight arrival. Coming abs going it was an awful experience at this hotel. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our night here so much. First off, he place is super clean and well setup. I loved the lobby the second I entered. It smelled great, it looked great and the staff was so friendly. The room was so clean that I was actually floored. It was like we were the first people to ever stay there. The sheets were beyond white, the comforter was spotless and the bathroom was so clean that we couldn't believe it. Seriously, I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. As a frequent traveler and visitor to this hotel I experienced what I hope was an anomaly After leaving for the day at 8:15 am and returning at 9:50 pm I noticed my room had not been serviced I reported to night supervisor who informed me there was no night staff on duty to service but to report it to morning manager In the morning around 740 am I reported to manager and requested politely. After booking our reservation online, we got stuck with the last available room which was a handicap accessible room, and it smelled musty, as if the room was vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner that needed a new filter or bag. The furniture was scuffed and the fabric of the sofa was stained and worn, the sliding barn door to the bathroom didn't close or even lock, and the bedspread looked worn and wrinkled. We had to make a trip to buy some Febreeze, the room smelled so bad. There were only 3 bath towels, but plenty of washcloths and hand towels. The stick-on carpet had gaps that needed replacing also. I stayed here in April 2012 for two weeks while I was starting a new job with a business right around the corner. This place has a washer and dryer, plenty of televisions in the lobby and they server a business-style breakfast every morning. The room was clean and I never had a problem while staying there for such a prolonged stay. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The only complaint that I have was when I stayed the Family Circle Cup was in town and me visiting Charleston for the first time, I wanted to explore Charleston during the weekend. That wasn't possible because their shuttle refused to leave the Daniel Island area during the Family Circle Cup. So, I was stranded on the island. That didn't make me happy at all during the weekend space that I was there for work where I could have explored all that downtown Charleston had to offer. There is a rumor that Charleston is known for its culinary delights in old town Charleston. For me, perhaps I will never know what that is like. Again, the staff and the hotel are great and well managed. It is just the policy during the Family Circle Cup that really upset me. read more

We used to really enjoy staying here because they offer free breakfast the rooms are very comfortable and it is very close to where my sister and parents live. They just renovated their rooms which would presumably make staying here more pleasant. However they have not kept up with the room repairs . We walked into a room with a broken closet door (crack running through the glass), a broken shower door (it would not move), and a broken room door (would turn green but you had to jimmy the door to get it to open). I am very irritated because we only asked them to fix the main door while we were out of the room, and they didn't. This was our first of the two hotel we stayed at in Charleston. I was booking the hotel for my friends wedding a bit late and the special block and rate he reserved at the closer Hampton Inn in Mt. Pleasant was done. At first I booked what I thought was a good deal with a beach hotel on the Isle of Palms ... then I saw the reviews on Yelp and immediately cancelled them. After carefully researching options, I settled on the Daniel Island Hampton Inn. I got a great online rate for prepaying (although it was non-cancellable) and the location provides easy access to points of interest that are on the north side of Charleston. As noted by other reviewers, this hotel is very close to the Family Circle Cup stadium, and is probably SLAMMED when that event is being held. But for our post-Thanksgiving weekend stay, it was nice and peaceful. The room was mostly OK - the only issue was the toilet, which had a wonky handle that needed to be fixed, and wasn't very secure. (i.e. it would wobble when you sat on it.) But other than that, the bed was comfy, the room was clean, the TV worked, and the bathroom was of decent size. Like most Hampton Inn's, there isn't an onsite restaurant, and there wasn't one within walking distance. But there is a good selection of bars and restaurants not far away. And the infamous Hampton Inn complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good. We stayed there three days, and some days were better than others, but points for changing up some of the offerings so that it never got stale. In future visits to the area I'll likely opt for staying in downtown Charleston, simply because it provides easy walking access to a lot of cool things to do. But if I were staying in another area of town, I'd be happy to stay here again. read more

Beautiful Hampton property with nice, clean fixtures, HD tv, and large lobby area. The lobby is really top notch for a Hampton, much more spacious than you'd expect. The staff was helpful and they had 2 bottles of water and some Doritos waiting for me in my room. Even though they have HD tvs, I didn't see any HD channels though. This is a pricier stay as far as Hampton's go, but you're also in a really nice area. Go for a jog around the neighborhoods and you'll see some beautiful houses. The front desk staff warned me to watch for alligators if I was going near the ponds -- thankfully, I didn't see any! read more

I called a couple of days before to ask if they had roll away beds and was told no they don't have them at this hotel. When we arrived, I saw one being taken into another room, so I asked the lady at the front desk if they had any. She was very rude and said we do but none available. She said to check back the next morning to see if they had any. Well I did and again got another rude lady that was acting like it was an inconvenience to talk to me. I asked her if they had any available yet? She said no, but she was showing 3 checking out that day and wrote our room number down and would call us when they turned them in, we'll never got a call or anything, so I went down there for a third time and guess what??! They were all taken again. Everyone here was so rude, we had no microwave which we were told had one, the breakwater was gross and a disaster, I could go on and on, but I know we will never stay here again!!! read more

I have not one complaint about this hotel. From the time we stepped in to the time we stepped out we had great service. The rooms and bathroom are pretty contemporary, it wasn't too noisy, the area is nice and it's only about 15-20 minutes from the beach and other attractions of Charleston.
