This is an old hotel. When we first got to our room my first thought was I paid way too much for this simple room. Although the room was "made up". The floor still had hair on it and nothing seemed to have been dusted in weeks. We kept or socks on so as to not touch the floor. We had our own pillows and slept on top of our own blankets. The first night my daughter killed a live roach in the bathroom. When I told the front desk about all of these things all they said was "sorry". It was my first time to the town of Helen and after looking around there are a lot better looking places to stay. Even the budget inn looked better than this place. I would say stay away from this hotel. There was no compensation for inconvenience and filthiness. It was so bad we didn't even eat breakfast there. This is your warning. Wasn't impressed. Showed up at 3:30 and told to come back at 4:00. They didn't have any rooms ready, which I find hard to believe since the place was empty that night. On the plus side the location is great for walking to town. I think they need to add a few more dollar signs to there site. Stayed October 5th n 6th charged 69000 hh points and another 385$ the room was nice so was the breakfast but not a $400+ a night experience. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Especially for the money. Place is run down and the maintenance and house keeping are horrendous. Not only did it cost 200k points and $400.00 to stay here 4 nights. But when we checked into our room at 4 am after a long day of traveling it was 47 degrees in the room. So we turned the heat on. Which is not working properly it runs nonstop and is not as hell no matter what temp it is set too. But we got the deluxe king room with gas fireplace. Well that does not work either. Called the auditor up he tried to get it lit, no lock. Maintenance guy next day said not going to work and that most of the rooms with them don't work. But he tried. Yep it was worn out junk. So onto the next day. Oh wait did I mention all the hairs all over the sink , bath tub and phone? And the smudged mirror? So the next day we go to put something in the mini fridge and we notice it is not plugged in, well that is because of the rotted food left in it by who knows who! Opened it up and stunk up our whole room. We went to the desk and told them. They took care of it I guess. Still not plugged in and we are not opening it again to check. No way in hell. So if you feel like blowing $200.00 a night on a room. Do it somewhere else. This place is not worthy of being associated with the Hilton brands. read more

The hotel's exterior is decorated to fit into the Bavarian theme the town has. It was located one block off the main strip and in a quiet area. It was very easy to walk from the hotel to the restaurants and shops on the main street in Helen. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn fair, the bathroom was clean and the room was clean and comfortable. The front desk was helpful and courteous on check in but we had another person on check out that didn't acknowledge our presence and didn't say a single word to us or asked us if we enjoyed our stay or not. read more

We stayed at this Hampton during Helen's Christmas parade weekend. As described by others here, the hotel is one block off of Main St. in a quiet section of town. The suites are very spacious! We did not have a creek side balcony room, but our suite included BR w/ Hampton bed and sheets, large bath w/ jacuzzi tub, living area w/fireplace, and separate kitchenette. So I'm forced to stay at this Hampton Inn in Helen, GA. Due to inconsistent customer service quality at various Hilton affiliated hotels (Hampton and Hilton Garden), I try to avoid the hotel chain in general, but I'd not staying at this Hampton location in the future. This was a terrible experience. We got to the hotel our room smelled like something was on fire the gentleman at the front desk we're unsure on how to do their job. what I asked for the hot percent satisfaction guarantee, that they have posted on their front desk after having to leave the room for several hours, and the fire department being called I was told I would have a check for the next couple weeks. It is now 2 1/2 months and I have yet to receive the check. The manager Susan is incompetent never returns phone calls I flat out does not follow up with people. The corporate office does not return calls nor do they return emails and have no authority to resolve any issues. The Hampton Corporation in general is lackluster and not just friendly. read more

Great location, off the main strip but 5 min walk from everything. Our room was nice, we got one with a living room with desk, kitchenette and fireplace. Also had a couch that may have been a sleeper sofa. The interior is very nice and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early. We stay at a lot of Hilton properties and the breakfast at this particular Hampton Inn is one of the best we have had (Had one in Arkansas last month that was awful!). Although you are right down the block from Hofers so you need to go there for breakfast anyway because it is great!!! I walk everyday and there was plenty of non busy roads behind the hotel I could safely walk on. read more

I must say I was a bit disappointed here. The pros were the desk staff was accommodating and nice. The hotel itself has great curb appeal but the maintenance is severely lacking. Carpet in hallways is unappealing and the hotel room was not a great value for its condition. The riverside view was ok and a plus but not amazing. The fireplace was a nice edition. For $262 a night I would have expected not to have half of the wall decorations in lobby in disrepair. And cheesy tacked notices for raffles on the wall. Also the carpet in the room was severely stained and sticky in places turning what could be a romantic relaxing evening for not a turn off. The chalk and wall paper in the bathroom was peeling away and I cannot express enough disappointment in the room carpet condition. Again the sticky, abundant stains and ripping stringy seams made it unbearable to even want to kick your shoes off and relax. The room was generally clean the issues are with maintaining the upgrades. This hotel could be great but right now is far from it and the value is not there. read more

Was not a pleasant experience. I love to travel. I am a Hilton Honors member and I've stayed in a lot of Hampton Inns but this one had to be by far one of the worst. We made our reservation ahead of time and check in was easy. Our room was not clean. The spreads on the beds were stained, one bed didn't even have a top sheet. We complained to the front desk and the guy that checked us in had to come change the sheets and spreads himself while we waited. While he was changing the sheets we found a pacifier on the floor. The windows on the door were dirty. We really questioned as to if the room was actually cleaned prior to our arrival or just a quick turn up of the beds and new towels. I have stayed in other hotels during the pandemic and I get that you don't have the normal maid service. But it should at least be cleaned properly after a guest leaves, especially during these times. They also had cookies at the front desk. I didn't eat any because everybody was lifting the lid and taking them out with their hands. I would suggest wrapping them individually. After that I didn't even check out the breakfast. The guy that changed our sheets said he would discuss our dirty room issue with the General Manager, we thought we would hear something from him or someone during our stay. Nope, not one word from any of the other employees other than the one that changed the sheets. I would most likely not stay at this Hampton Inn again. I will not hesitate to check out the rooms before I check in from now on. read more

We should have made reservations earlier, but we forgot and arrived at the Hampton Inn without reservations, but Jenn and Taylor were very accommodating and were able to get us a room at a very reasonable last minute rate. Breakfast was awesome and received a 100% NY State health rating during their last inspection. Lots of parking and close to everything. We will definitely stay there again. This is probably the worse hotel I've ever stayed in. When we first got into our first room and there was long black hairs on the bed spread and the room had poor lighting. We went to the front desk and switched rooms. At first we thought the room was better. Yet there was even more black hair on the beds than the first room, we found items that the previous guest had left, the mirrors were dirty, there was a hair ball by the door and it was obvious that the room was not vacuumed. I went down to the front desk for the second time and they offered to switch my room again but who knows if that room would be any cleaner. They blamed it on their staff walking out but that should not affect the quality of my stay. read more

My daughter and I planned a Mothers Day trip to Helen. I reserved this hotel through Hotels.com. The reviews looked great on their web site but the price was doubled what I thought I was going to have to pay. I changed my room preference but that only lowered it by 20.00. I ended up paying over 200.00 for a room with 2 double beds and a view of the parking lot. When we arrived we realized the property was under construction. Pool was not open, shower was not clean, parking was blocked off, grass was not cut, elevator on its last leg. It was a complete disaster!There was NOTHING in the reviews about that! When I checked out the girl said I could have gotten the room cheaper by going directly through Hampton inn. I will NEVER reserve a room through Hotels.com again. read more

We arrived and had registered for a non-smoking room with a view of the river... our room was awful, not clean, not aired, and not a place I would stay for more than one night. We asked about the smoke smell in our room they brought us a can of febreze. The breakfast was AWFUL...the waffle batter dispenser was broken, they had a bit of old pineapple, watery eggs, no bread or pastries, no yogurt, no butter, no jam...I asked but they said "no sorry." I felt as if it was a family run hotel: manager - wife, maintenance and housekeeping - husband, and breakfast / housekeeping - mother. Stayed there last fall. The carpet in the room wasn't vacuumed properly and the shower had 6 black hairs in the bottom and stuck to the shower curtain! A very good indication that the shower curtain wasn't changed. My husband and I go to Helen every year. This was the last time we will stay here. We arrived late in the night. Making arrangements to do so was easier than at other hotels in similar circumstances. The information was well-communicated to the later shifts. We had an accessible room with a king bed and roll-in shower. The bed was on the soft side but still fine. The heat (and air conditioning) has an exterior-wall unit, with an interior-wall thermostat. It worked particularly well. The hotel is a short distance from the shops and restaurants in Helen. Breakfast is free and good. It varied somewhat from day to day, and included scrambled-egg patties (better than some others, but not like hand-made), bacon and ham, Belgian waffles, cereal, toast, muffins, bagels and the like. The hotel is elevated, with parking below the building at ground level. Presumably this is because land is tight in Helen. Some notes from a wheelchair user: The drainage of the roll-in shower is a disaster. A shower will flood the whole bathroom and much of the front hall, right up to the door. A blockade of towels is the only solution. The slope of the shower floor appears to be the problem. The hair drier was at standing height, difficult to reach from a chair, with buttons on the wall unit that were hard to push. The two disabled parking spaces were in the open. It would have been nice to have two in the covered parking as well. Entering or exiting a car in bad weather is more difficult for a disabled person. Also, some conditions are adversely affected by heat, making covered parking helpful. Overall, a fine, helpful and friendly staff, and good hotel. read more
