    More nasty bathroom

Disappointing Stay -- Not Worth the Price We stayed at this hotel for three nights, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The room was dirty and poorly maintained -- the kind of place where you don't feel comfortable taking your shoes off. Carpet stains everywhere, walls and floorboards were nasty. Housekeeping did not come by once during our stay, and we had to manage without clean towels, or toilet paper. Finally stopping into the front desk for a roll of toilet paper. With no ventilation or fan in the bathroom, nothing would dry properly. Mold all over the shower and cracked tile grout surround the tub. The entire floor smelled unpleasant, and trash and used beach towels were left sitting in the hallways for extended periods. The lack of cleanliness and service made the stay very uncomfortable. The beach view was the one redeeming feature, but it was nowhere near worth the price we paid. I would not recommend this hotel and would give zero stars if I could.

I don't think painting the bathtub is the right way

I thought since this hotel was near the beach it was going to be nice. Sadly, it was the complete opposite! Where do I start? When you get to the hotel, you're greeted by a somewhat friendly staff. The lady in the front is a little rough on the outside. I asked about a tax exempt form, since I work for the Navy, and they had copies to fill out. While I was filling out the one form, they advised me I needed another form to certify I was eligible for the tax exempt. Never in my years of traveling I needed to provide a "certificate" to remove the taxes from my receipt. Then why even have me fill out the first form? I've been to the Navy lodge in Mayport, Alabama, Wisconsin, San Diego, Washington DC, etc. and this is the only hotel/State that wants a "certification" of a tax exempt form. That's ridiculous! Next, the room. It's pretty outdated and seems like they just cover up the old. The doors don't match colors-painted over multiple times, the bathtub looked like it was repainted over and over with paint chipping away; same with the walls, the pillows desperately need to be changed out, and to top it off, the AC/heater was broken. Of course it was changed out while I was in the room, but for a short moment I had my very own ice maker! The maintenance guy was probably the only good thing about my stay. He was really nice and changed the broken unit super quick! Overall, paying $200+ for an outdated room with broken equipment wasn't worth the stay. I'm only giving a two star because of how quick the maintenance guy changed the AC unit. I don't think it will get any better or improve at the state the hotel is at right now. It seems like they try to hit you with all these taxes and make it even more difficult to be removed. Good thing this is my last time I'll be in Florida for work!

Location, location, location! Oceanfront steps to the beach. Amazing pool area with waterfalls, palm trees and hot tub. Nice tiki bar with a decent menu. Service people could not have been nicer. We had amazing 3 night stay and will definitely stay here again. Clean, amazing ocean views, and beach amenities available to rent chairs. Pool is so relaxing and immaculate. Free breakfast very good. Rooms are clean and sized nicely. I can't wait to stay here again!

    Pina colada??!

Holiday . No live music. Beach is packed. One bartender. 3 servers not anxious to help. Over priced and worst Pina colada I've ever had. Not sure there was any rum in the drink and most of the floater spilled out before I got my drink. Disappointing. Not what it used to be.

Steve was very accommodating, but they were full.

There was a guy working the front desk and was new to Jax. I welcome him to our area. He said they had no rooms left, due to venues going on out at the beaches this weekend. But, he was so kind as to call three Hotels in the area and they were all booked up as well. He really went over 100% in helping us. I found a near by Motel(Seahorse Oceanfront Inn)on Travelocity, so went there and got one of the last rooms. When my two boys were young, I'd bring them here to stay. They liked the pool a lot. I highly recommend this hotel.

The pier in the distance! About a 10/15 min walk from the hotel.

Staying here for 2 days for my Birthday! And soo far I'm loving every moment! Such a beautiful spot! Beautiful pool and literally 3 min walk from your room to the beach. Staff very friendly! Robert greeted us with a great smile upon arrival.

i loved our ocean view room!! Slept with sound of ocean every night. Food and drink are good and fairly priced in their outside eating area. Basically better than average bar food. Free breakfast was good but you sit in enclosed dining area to eat it. Insist on daily room cleaning if you want it or they will do it once every 4 days. You have to remind front desk in person each and every am for this! For $400 night, you would think it would happen with one request! No real lounge here and small pool area. No waterfalls and full of youngsters! The plus here is the beach and live music at bar on weekends

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days and had a great time!! It's not super updated, so if you're looking for ritzy this place isn't for you. However, the location is EVERYTHING!!! The oceanfront view of the ocean, beach, and pier is amazing...we loved having a balcony to watch the sunsets and sunrises. The pool and hot tub is awesome, the Mahi Mahi tacos at their restaurant are SO dang good, and the drinks really hit the spot. We felt right at home and the employees were all so nice. Pool towels are included and if you want to rent umbrellas, chairs, bikes, etc. they are right there as well. Parking is super easy and plenty of it even if you do have to pay for it. This place is the best bang for your buck and we can't wait to come back!!

Don't recommend this place AT ALL! Stay was okay until I woke up to make the bed and found bugs (7th floor). They only offered for us to put our belongings in the dryer in order to get a new room. Unfortunately we had too many delicate items to do that and we ended up having to go home.I'd hate for anyone to go through this. I've been paranoid ever since and hope no bugs follow us home. Please don't book this hotel.

I'm a loyal Hampton Inn person. This one disappointed me. While the room was clean and the location fantastic, there were a few things that dropped this down to a 2. The hallway on the third floor needs serious work. Someone is going to get hurt on that piece of wood sticking out (see pic). Also, the elevator door had a strip that was loose and swung out every time the door opened, making the place look shabby. Also, the handle in the elevator needs to be repaired. The pool area and breakfast area were nice, but I'm used to Hampton Inn personnel being friendlier and more helpful than the folks that were working during my stay.

The room service workers were all very nice and polite. I went during a lifeguard completion and I witness one of the South Carolina guests being rude and disrespectful to the staff member assisting in the breakfast buffet. I completely understand why there's a small fee for the beach chairs and umbrellas on the actual beach. There would be way too many arguments and fights for the chairs and the longevity of people using them or others that would hog as many as possible. We've always had to pay at every hotel I've been to. And I'm so used to having free netflix at the hotels that I was surprised that there wasn't a free account. And some of the charging cable ports in the room didn't work. The shower is not sealed and water leaks out from under the door. For a local Mahjong tournament, we checked into Margaritaville Beach Hotel Jacksonville Beach and fully committed to the no agenda, beach state of mind. The Ocean Suite was exactly what this staycation needed. A king bedroom, separate little living room, spacious galley-style bathroom, and--most importantly--a balcony with front-row seats to some seriously gorgeous ocean views. I spent plenty of time out there watching the sunrises, sunsets, and basically convincing myself I was much farther from home than I actually was. Beach day? Covered. Literally. Forgot your chair or umbrella? Margaritaville has you covered with beach gear, plus a small pool if you need a break from the sand. The only party foul was in the bathroom. The cute whale-tail fixtures were very on-brand, but ours had a little leak and were surprisingly difficult to turn off. And the water pressure? Let's just say it wasn't exactly bringing the big wave energy. For fueling the Mahjong marathon, LandShark Grill was an easy grab-and-go option, and the coffee bar was perfect for getting caffeinated before the tiles started flying. Overall, it was exactly the kind of staycation I love: Mahjong by day, ocean views whenever possible, cocktails when appropriate, and absolutely #NoAgendaTravel Would absolutely do it again.

We had a 5th floor suite with a king bed. The living area has a pull out couch, coffee table, desk area, TV, and an area with a fridge, microwave, safe, and coffeemaker, along with some storage. This was perfect for us because we were able to put our four year old in the pull out and our one year old in a crib provided by the hotel in the living space. That allowed my husband and I to have the bedroom--and the balcony--to ourselves. The only caveat was that the single entrance to the bathroom was in the living area. Luckily our kids slept through all our bathroom trips during the night. The balcony was wonderful. And the dedicated beach area for our hotel was fantastic. We were able to rent some beach chairs and enjoy our day. There's also a historic lifeguard station--still in use--right next to the hotel. Other perks of the hotel are the pool, hot tub, work out room, covered patio, and the bar/restaurant. They provide complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning and the bar opens at 5 and the happy hour is 5-7. We enjoyed some happy hour drinks and wow! They are not shy on the pours here. My Sauvignon blanc was nearly filled to the rim--and they use a goblet of a glass! No complaints here! The hotel is also in walking distance to many restaurants. We had dinner next door at Bubba Gump and found other places super close by that we could walk. There's also a Publix super close by. Everything about our stay was easy breezy. So relaxing. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Jacksonville.
