While the hotel was really small with 1 elevator and a small pool, the accommodations were very nice. Everything was clean and stocked up. The staff were all very friendly. Free breakfast was decent and cant complain about free cookies during the day. The location on the beach was perfect!! We had an oceanfront room with a balcony and I definitely cant complain. We came from Georgia due to the ice storm emergency. When they found out we have service dogs due to PTSD and depression they became extremely rude. The staff was so unprofessional and the maids made comments multiple times about having a dog in the hotel, the dog which is extremely well behaved, didn't bark had no accidents in the room. We stayed in two different rooms in which we emptied our own trash, wrapped up the bedding to help the maids, had the towels all in a pile, wiped down cabinets. Both rooms had no rags, I went to ask for extra towels and were told we could only get two at a time. The Hispanic lady at the front was the worst, rolling her eyes and giving dirty looks. For a hospitality business they need more training on hospitality. The bathrooms were dirty and food left under the desks from previous guests. The ice buckets were disgusting and the morning staff who did the breakfast were also ride and very inattentive to the breakfast area, often left with nothing but crumbs with a packed breakfast area. We spent over $600 there because of an emergency we were running from ...Needs improvement and will not return. read more

This place is pretty darn awesome. An in town vacation, but once you're here, it definitely gives an out of town experience. The place is clean, the staff are really nice and friendly and from my experience...they go out of their way to help if necessary. When I booked online, I booked an oceanfront room, and it did not disappoint. The room was nice and clean, very well up kept and the view was absolutely perfect. Even when it was dark, being able to hear the waves crash and feel the breeze was an amazing feeling. I didn't dine in the actual restaurant, however I did hit the Tiki lounge outside and was able to order a cocktail and some food from there. Again, the service was on point and the food was pretty good. This property offers a lot of amenities all while by the beach and close to many nice restaurants that are literally in walking distance. This place is all about location and staff. They have a fabulous top notch staff and great location. But that's it, the hotel is in dire need of some maintenance and repair. It was pretty bad and obvious it's been let go over the years and not maintained which is a shame. read more

The hotel is in the middle of renovations but the rooms are updated. There is normal wear and tear from a hotel room but everything was clean. For a last minute beach stay this was a great option. It is not fancy by any means but the staff were nice, there was a full breakfast and is located near a few bars and restaurants. I won't mind staying here again. read more

First time staying at a Best Western; made reservations week of July 4th (had last minute change of plans); glad to have been able to get away for several days, but not happy at all with our lodging; online photos MUCH better than real thing; appreciated the safety precautions in place (guests required to wear masks; complimentary breakfast prepared in to-go containers, no open food/no buffet style setting); front desk staff nice, as was the person who served the breakfast (breakfast food items nothing to write home about, but decent enough). I wonder if the cleaning staff was told to ignore the guests; out of the several days we were there, in passing the cleaning staff several times a day in the hallways, only one person smiled back one time. The room decor was nice, but there was a strange smell in the bathroom, the hallway, and the vending machine/ice maker area. Room looked clean, but the smell didn't convince us; think it may have been the carpet, but not sure; we had Lysol and clorox wipes for the room and bleach on hand for the bathroom; we settled in after we had done some cleaning ourselves; AC wall unit was irritatingly louder than we would have liked; totally disappointed with the very small balcony which had several beams that were really an eyesore; not sure who thought it was a good idea to place gawdy-looking steel beams on a balcony that could barely seat two folks comfortably; plus, the balcony floor wasn't clean at all. There were some other "household issues" as well, but I chose not to go into detail on this site and instead opted to contact the hotel/manager via email. Of note, the pool is located in the front area of the hotel, next to the street; not a good idea from my point of view. Parking very convenient and free. In saying all of this, we are grateful that we were able to enjoy looking out at the beach, catching the sunset/sunrise; we enjoyed hearing the waves and the birds; we enjoyed just getting out of the house. Though the hotel is in a great location, our stay there was far from up to par; we are a bit perturbed that the money we spent could have been used on a much nicer looking/cleaner smelling hotel... read more

As a local, we had a decent stay at Best Western Oceanfront. The staff was wonderful. The building is older but they have made some upgrades. The continental breakfast is super convenient. The location is in a busy area with lots of great restaurants nearby and even if your room is a street-view, the building is oceanfront so you're steps away from the beach. It's not fancy but it totally gets the job done. read more

The room keys worked one night. Its freezing cold and there's no covid pre cautions at all in this hotel. I can't believe that a best western can't afford to replace their room key system so it can work. I can't believe the managers can't overnight something like that. Do better. Not to mention the hallways reek of weed. No maid service either apparently. Staff tried to be helpful as much as possible and were polite. The worst part was room keys not really working. This is a great place for the money. I've stayed at other beachfront hotels but will stay here again. First the staff is all friendly and provide a good vibe when you arrive. it's being remodeled. The rooms are all updated, clean, fresh and quiet. Hallways were being repainted. Get to the beach right outside. And the cost is lowest in the area. Breakfast was as good as others with eggs, meat, waffles and other items. Good food restaurants around the area with GOAT and Joes. Great place right on Jax Beach! Just steps away from walkway to the ocean. It's also close to many places to eat and drink (right across the street is an excellent place for Mediterranean food). The breakfast in the mornings was phenomenal- eggs, bacon, sausage, SAUSAGE GRAVY!!!, cook your own waffles, biscuits, bagels and fresh fruit! The coffee machine serves up whatever kind of brew you like (in fact, the local cops have this place on their radar to fill their coffee tanks!) The rooms are clean and spacious. For an older beach hotel this place was really nice. Front desk staff were really pleasant too. One of the best touches was the always full water decanter with orange slices! So good! read more

My room was dingy could use a facelift, and out my window I had a view of the hotel next door which made me forget that I was in Florida right near the beach. The location was good (oceanfront!), parking was free and convenient (under the hotel), and the free breakfast was most appreciated! Nothing special, but free and convenient. Staff are phenomenal. Friendly, personable, and really helpful (to the extent they can be); fun to talk to too. Location is PERFECT! Room was great - had ocean front with balcony. Seemed mostly clean and well appointed with necessary towels, coffee, etc. Was a little concerned about the cockroaches. Small, but had at least one little guy each day (4 day stay) that met his demise. Really didn't find the hotel dirty by any means and being in Florida and close to ocean, they can be expected; I've just never seen them in a hotel room. read more

50/50 chance First stay was enjoyable and clean. Great location. 2nd stay not so good. Location was still great all though the hotel room itself could have been cleaner. Hairy room and bathroom with rust. gross white dirty stains on the floor. In addition, You have to step through a hole in the fence outside to access the beach from the hotel because the fence door is shackled shut. A multitude of suspicious individuals in and out of restrooms at the beach access restroom next door to the hotel. I looked past this the first time as the room was clean and enjoyable. This hotel is great! It's on the ocean. The hotel has beach access. Local restaurants right next door. Close to shops. I love the modern decor. My room is super clean. I wish the window opened so I could hear the beach though. They have a hot breakfast. Rental's (bike, beach chairs, surfboards, and many other things) are super close by. I stayed for a weekend, for a close by weekend on the beach. Best Western is always a safe choice because you pretty much know the quality level you're getting, but this location was much better than I expected. The location is obviously great, but the staff was so friendly and did an amazing job. The place was VERY clean. And overall, for the price, it's a very good choice if you want to stay in the heart of Jax beach within walking distance of shops, restaurants and bars. read more

Great location! It was basically center of all the restaurants, bars, and convenient stores and that's walking. It was a short drive for mall strips. Staff was definitely nice! They offered the use of the gym at their sister site for free. Breakfast was good. Hotel is sitting right on the beach!I did notice on the 1st night the guy cleaning the floors in the ice room used the same floor mop and wiped it across the ice machine tray. We just avoided the ice the remainder of the trip. Also, it's a very small hotel in general (3 floors and short hallway). The actual room was comfortable in size but the hotel itself just seemed awkwardly small for us semi seasoned travelers. If we visit this area again we'll probably just stay at the sister site (3 blocks up the street). read more

Decent place to stay. Just off the beach. Friendly staff. Nice size rooms. Near a lot food places Provided lots of towels and good service. Don't know if I would stay again as I like to try different places but the time I spent there was pleasant. I would recommend it if someone was looking for a beachside hotel in the area. Couple interesting things. Check in time is 3pm but we had just gotten off a cruise and thought maybe they would have a room done early. Nope. I won't slight them for that as the time they say is 3pm. They said they would call when ours was ready. They didn't so I went in at 3pm to check in. They were telling a few people ahead of me that their rooms weren't quite done yet so I was expecting same but ours was done. To be fair it was peak summer weekend and they were booked solid so just mentioning it not upset about this. Breakfast was fantastic. I had Waffles with toppings, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. We only stayed two nights but I could eat it for many more days and would have been happy with it every morning. Water pressure in the rooms fluctuated like crazy. A few times I was taking a shower or rinsing off my sandals or beach stuff and the pressure went to none at all. Nothing came out. Then it would go full blast for a minute then half pressure. Easy enough to deal with but annoying. Didn't bring it up(as it didn't bother me too much) so could have been an issue they were fixing. Some of their rooms have weird positioning. Our room was positioned by the elevator. Like if I opened my door when people were getting on the elevator than they would be 2 feet from my door. The door was in the little elevator cubby area. Not bad except people generally talk while waiting and we could hear some of the louder groups if we were in the room. Also this is a bar area, at least 10 of them in walking distance. I didn't know this beforehand. So just a warning that the area is very active on weekend nights. I Couldn't hear the activity through the walls/window at night and it didn't affect my families sleep so that is a huge plus as there was a bar right across the street from the room. read more

From the outside this hotel doesn't look like much, but inside, wow. Beautiful room and bathroom and super clean. The maid service is phenomenal and cleaned our room and changed the sheets/made the bed fresh every single day. Everyone at the front desk day or night was friendly and welcoming. I regret not having breakfast there because it all looked and smelled so good. Very impressed with this hotel and would highly recommend it. A little pricey but worth it to be so close to the night life and the beach. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! We were so disgusted with the property, we left and drove the other 5 hours home. I did take a shower since I drove 9 hours to get there, but decided I was too tired to drive the rest without splashing some water on me to keep going. I tried to pretend that the hotel was decent bc it seems ridiculous to pay for.a hotel room and then not sleep there.Thank god I only got it for one night. This was supposed to be the last hotel of 13 hotels that I stayed in with my daughters to wake up and watch the sunrise, before I went home to South Florida. We went all up the east coast and over to the Midwest and back to the east coast and no hotel was this bad. Everything about this place was gross. You can't just put lipstick on a pig and call a day. At least finish the lipstick. I will never stay in a Best Western again. They should just demolish this place and rebuild and they certainly should not be charging the prices they are. I feel bad for all the people that have and will stay here. Especially when you pay almost 300.00 bucks a night for a crappy hotel in the first place. At least clean up the balcony and put decent chairs. You couldn't even put plastic chairs with arms, or paint the patio. Just careless and disrespectful to the people that put their hard earned money to get a nice place. Who would want to watch the sunrise on this balcony? Best Western you should be ashamed of yourself. This was the 1st and last time I will try to stay here. read more

Best Western's location was perfect!! We were just steps from the beach, pier, and lots of great restaurants and bars! I would recommend the Pier Cantina next door for great drinks. The room itself was more than we needed with a fridge, microwave, etc. It was nothing unique, but for the price and location, I thought it was pretty awesome! And the separate desk and couch area came in handy for my husband who ended up having to work for several hours while we were there. I wasn't impressed with the size or location of the pool, but not sure I would have used it anyway since the beach was right there! The hotel staff was very attentive and accommodating. Check out was at 11, which would usually be great, but I really wanted I get in some extra time at the beach and be able to shower. So, they told me I could stay until noon for free or pay $10 and stay until 1 which I thought was well worth it. It made my day to get to spend an extra two hours at the beach before heading home! read more

Stayed here for 5 days while looking for a house. Great location next to many local restaurants and right on the beach! The front desk staff was very accommodating. You couldn't pick a better location. However, the hotel has very small amenities. There was a family gathering that happened towards the end and they took over the small pool, breakfast seating, and parking. It doesn't take much to fill it up and they had complete control and it left most of the other guests to fend for themselves. The parking spots are super small so don't travel with a big car or you will have trouble parking. Also the gym is not on the property. You have to walk one block down and use the Sheraton's gym. read more

Great location, right on the water, although only a few rooms actually face the ocean. Check in process was very quick and easy. The room decor is simple and there is not much in the way of room amenities but they do have an in-room safe, ironing board and hair dryer. The bed is pretty comfortable and the room was quiet in terms of street noise. The main noise however came from the AC wall unit, which is pretty loud; there's no central AC here. They provide pool/beach towels, but no beach chairs or umbrellas. The breakfast is decent with a hot bar that includes scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and biscuits, a waffle maker, yogurt and parfait, cereals and breads. There's a coffee machine where you can get regular coffee, cappuccino, espresso, etc. There's free WiFi. read more

Just like a lot of people, we were visiting Jacksonville Beach for reasons other than a vacation. To make the best of our trip, I was looking for an oceanfront room and the price here could not be beat. The lobby is small, but you can see that it has been recently renovated. Rooms are basic and clean. The view of the ocean is obstructed by the design of the balcony railing which only allows about 3-4' of views from a seated position. The balcony itself is pretty much useless due to its size, and that the AC unit blows hot air outside, raising the temperature by at least twenty degrees. You will not be able to have a conversation either due to the noise from that same AC unit. BUT......outside of that, you simply can't beat what you get for the price. We will be returning in November and this is where we will be staying. That should say a lot. read more

Seriously the best! I stayed here for a total of about 6 days with my husband. The hotel just underwent renovations, and some rooms were still being completed. The construction didn't really bother us. It is a small hotel right on the beach, but the front desk ladies were always so nice. Especially Mariah- She really made my day. A generous continental breakfast is included with your stay, though I only grabbed a banana in the morning. The newly updated room was very modern, the bed comfortable, and the decor trendy. What really sold me was the BATHROOM! Lots of space, glass door showers, and the shower knob was smartly placed on the opposite side of the shower head, so you won't get wet when you turn it on! The prices were reasonable for our stay. Definitely consider BW if you are in the Beaches area! read more

I booked a room for the night at this location through and third party site. I called hours before arriving and they told me everything was fine. When arriving they told me because the payment did not go through all the way on my debit card, they gave my room to someone else. When asking why didn't they notify someone, they told me "They tried too but there was no answer" witch is a total lie! Also I called hours before arriving. Either way this place could be more thorough when it comes to people booking rooms! Clearly you don't know what it's like to drive for hours and hours to show up to your hotel and is been reserved for someone else and they are all booked up! Thanks for nothing best western, we should have listened to our friends when they told me you guys sucked! Thank god the courtyard down the road is WAY nicer, and our ocean front stay is a lot cheaper then what we originally had with you! And too the manager get some better employees, or train them better then what has been done! SMH!! read more
