There is also a boat dock behind the restaurant where you can see lots of fish, including nurse sharks. I would definitely stay here again.

Not only are Phil and Laura (the couple who manages the hotel) some of the most friendly and generous people I've ever met, but the hotel itself is super cute and clean. The rooms come with a refrigerator, microwave, dining table and powerful air conditioner... everything you need. We fish right off of the dock in back and grill our catch on their patio. The hotel is well shaded with beautiful palms and has a lovely little pool for cooling off during the day. There are tons of lizards around outside as well as some larger iguanas that hang out. There is fishing access right off of the dock in back. The hotel is right near many of our favorite Key's places like the Key's Fishery and Market and Sparky's Landing. This is definitely Marathon's best kept secret. The sign outside by the road looks super old and not very appealing but don't judge this book by its cover. This hotel is family friendly, very clean and an all-around AWESOME place to stay. You will be heart broken when its time to check out!

You can simply drop off your car keys, and the staff will park your car for you. Self-parking is also available if you prefer. One of my favorite areas was the fireplace in the front ocean-view area. At night, there was live music, making it a wonderful place to sit, relax, and enjoy the view. The resort has a lot to offer, including oceanfront family pools, an adult relaxation pool, a swimming beach with loungers, kayaks, paddle boards, fishing rods and reels, and a beautiful 525-foot fishing pier for catch-and-release fishing. There is also a 9 hole executive golf course, tennis courts, pickleball courts, sports courts, and beach cruiser bicycles. Families can enjoy the kids' game room and Camp Cheeca, which provide fun activities for children. Adults can relax at the full-service spa, fitness center, sunrise yoga classes, and water aerobics. The resort also offers Wi-Fi, concierge service, in-room coffee and tea, bottled water, EV charging stations, and shuttle service within 2 miles. Some areas of the resort could use a little restoration. For example, the jacuzzi next to the family pool looked like it needed some maintenance. We also noticed a slight seaweed smell near the beach, but this may be normal during the high season and can depend on the weather and ocean conditions. On our first day, we ate at Nikai, the resort's sushi restaurant. Guests can sit outside and enjoy the view, which I really liked. There is also indoor seating, but the restaurant is fairly small. We ordered the Salmon Aburi, Dragon Roll, and Matsuri Roll. The outdoor seating was definitely my favorite because we could enjoy our food and drinks while taking in the beautiful surroundings. Cheeca Lodge has several dining options besides sushi. Atlantic's Edge offers oceanfront dining with beautiful views and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mia Cucina serves Italian style dishes in a relaxed setting. Tiki Bar and 25South are great places for drinks, snacks, and casual meals. Guests can also visit Morada Bay Beach Café for a relaxed beachside dining experience. Pierre's is another popular nearby restaurant, known for its elegant atmosphere and beautiful waterfront setting. At night, the front ocean view fireplace area with live music is a great place to enjoy a drink after dinner. The combination of the fire, ocean view, and music creates a very relaxing atmosphere. Having so many restaurants and dining choices nearby makes the resort very convenient. You can enjoy sushi, Italian food, casual drinks, beachside meals, or a more elegant dinner without traveling far. The resort has a beautiful Florida Keys atmosphere and offers plenty of activities for both adults and families. I especially liked having so many options in one place, including the beach, pools, water activities, fishing, golf, tennis, pickleball, spa, restaurants, live music, and our comfortable ocean-view room with a fireplace. It is a great place to relax, enjoy the water, dine, and have everything conveniently located at the resort. The champagne welcome, included valet parking, ocean views, fireplace, and live music were also nice extra touches. Although a few areas need a little restoration and there was a slight seaweed smell during the high season, these issues did not ruin our stay. All the staff were extremely nice and attentive The only negative I could say was that the reception/lobby building was a little hard to find, but it wasn't that bad. After checking in, everything else was great. We booked a cabana in the main pool which was large enough that we weren't really splashed or annoyed by little kids, and there were a lot there considering it was 4th of July weekend. The other pools were also nice, and just plain rectangular pools with lounge chairs around. They also have an over 21 pool which was pretty private and was great for an alternative to the large pool if the kids had been an issue. The resort has the nicest hotel store I've ever seen and they make fresh salads and sandwiches and had pastries and coffee and gelato along with other resort wear and items you may have forgotten. In that building you can book kayaks, padddle boards, jet skis, fishing etc. We wanted to do paddle boarding but the oars had melted from the heat, so we kayaked and melted ourselves from the heat but it was great and reasonably priced. There is beach access as well and the staff did a great job of cleaning the seaweed from the beach, however, the water was too warm to enjoy. Luckily the pools were perfect temps. Food and drinks were good, not crazy prices for a resort on July 4th. They had live music that was great and in multiple locations. Overall, we are 100% coming back for a day pass and will likely book a weekend at the hotel in the future.

It immediately gave the stay a thoughtful, elevated feel. We booked through Amex, which included a $60 daily breakfast credit and a $100 amenity credit. Those perks were definitely helpful, especially with the $30 daily parking charge and additional resort fees. The property has plenty of pools, lounge areas, and beach seating, and we never had trouble finding a place to relax during our stay. They also have a great little market on property, which ended up being one of our favorite spots for food. They have coffee, quick bites, treats, snacks, and a really nice selection of gifts and resort swag. We actually preferred grabbing food here over some of the other dining options. The spa is small but beautiful, peaceful, and very relaxing. There's a steam room and relaxation room, and it was a great addition to our stay. Unfortunately, where the resort fell short for us was the service. It seemed like some areas were either understaffed or certain staff members simply weren't the right fit for a hospitality-focused property. That said, there were a handful of bartenders who were fantastic, attentive, and really stood out. On our first day, we had lunch at the beach bar and sat directly at the bar. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive, so we were excited to return that evening and have dinner on the beach nearby. Unfortunately, the experience was completely different. The server working the beach area repeatedly passed our table without acknowledging us while continuing to serve the tables surrounding us. We eventually had to place our order directly at the bar. Even the bartender told us someone would come over to assist us at the beach, but when the server finally approached, she visibly rolled her eyes. It made us feel unwelcome and was especially disappointing because we were there celebrating our friend's bachelorette weekend. For a special occasion, we were hoping the service would add to the experience rather than take away from it. Overall, this is truly a beautiful Keys gem. The property itself, the thoughtful welcome, spacious rooms, pools, market, and spa were all highlights, and there were definitely parts of our stay that we loved. I booked a cabin at Bonefish Bay in Marathon through Booking.com for August 1-5, 2026. Check-in was…read moresupposed to be at 3:00 PM. I arrived at 4:05 PM and the cabin was disgusting. The sink was full of dirty dishes with food still on them. The beds were unmade and dirty. I marked the sheets with black dots so I could later confirm whether they actually cleaned them. Staff apologized and said they had "forgotten" to clean the room. They called me around 7:00-7:30 PM claiming it was ready. When I returned, they had simply put the same filthy dishes away in the cabinets -- still covered in food. The beds had been "remade" using the exact same marked sheets from the previous guest. They never changed them. When I confronted the woman in the office, she walked me back to the cabin and told me it was the guest's responsibility to wash the dishes, so they just put the dirty ones away. She then sniffed the bed cover and said it "smelled clean." She admitted they do not change the covers after every guest -- only when they "smell dirty." She was extremely rude and offered only a 15% discount. She refused any refund even though I had never spent a single night there, never connected to their Wi-Fi, and only stepped foot in a filthy cabin. Thank God I booked through Booking.com. They issued a full credit and covered my stay at another resort down the road. This place is a health hazard. I will be reporting them to the Florida Department of Health and the appropriate business regulatory agencies. Do not stay here. The conditions are completely unacceptable.

The rooms and bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, with multiple room configurations available. Many of the suites could easily accommodate a family of four or five. We weren't traveling as a family, though we were there for a romantic getaway, and it was the perfect setting for that as well. The property has three pools, giving everyone options. There's a huge main pool, a nice-sized adults-only pool (which was a bit of a walk from our room, but we still spent most of our pool time there), and a smaller pool right outside our room that we absolutely loved. We visited during one of the hottest weeks of the year, so the smaller pool felt more like a warm bath than a refreshing swim...but that's Florida in July! One nice features was the protected swimming area in the ocean. It was such a fun place to cool off, float, and enjoy the beautiful water. The tiki bar overlooking the ocean is gorgeous and has the perfect island vibe. There's also a small restaurant on the property that opens for dinner after 5:00 p.m., but pretty $$$ One unexpected bonus was the amazing Cuban restaurant directly across the street. We ate there several times during our stay (I'll be writing a separate review because it deserves one!). Another great attraction is the Turtle Hospital, which is literally next door. It's an inspiring place to visit and made it easy to enjoy an educational outing before heading back to relax at the resort. A few things to know before you go: * Pool service is available, but if you're expecting quick cabana-style service, be prepared to wait. * There is one small fitness center, and it's also where the ice machine is located. We were lucky because our room was nearby. * If you use a lot of ice, consider bringing a cooler and extra ice with you. Most rooms have refrigerators, but not all include a freezer, as an example ours did not. But lucked out on location *room 107 What truly set Tranquility Bay apart, however, was the staff. During a small medical issue I experienced, their response went far beyond simply following protocol. They were there immediately, but what impressed us even more was the genuine concern they showed afterward. There's a difference between employees who are simply protecting the company and those who truly care about their guests as people. The team at Tranquility Bay showed us they genuinely care, and we'll never forget that kindness. We also had an issue with my husband's motorcycle, and Jose was there right away to help. His willingness to jump in without hesitation is another example of the outstanding customer service we experienced throughout our stay. Beautiful property, spacious accommodations, relaxing pools, stunning ocean views, and a staff that treats you like family, that combination is what makes Tranquility Bay a place we'd happily recommend. Whether you're planning a family vacation or a romantic escape, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
