I was very hesitant to book this ResortPass for 4th of July because it was significantly less than other resorts in the Islamorada area about 50 miles north, but the Cabana at Isla Bella exceeded my expectations. All the staff were extremely nice and attentive The only negative I could say was that the reception/lobby building was a little hard to find, but it wasn't that bad. After checking in, everything else was great. We booked a cabana in the main pool which was large enough that we weren't really splashed or annoyed by little kids, and there were a lot there considering it was 4th of July weekend. The other pools were also nice, and just plain rectangular pools with lounge chairs around. They also have an over 21 pool which was pretty private and was great for an alternative to the large pool if the kids had been an issue. The resort has the nicest hotel store I've ever seen and they make fresh salads and sandwiches and had pastries and coffee and gelato along with other resort wear and items you may have forgotten. In that building you can book kayaks, padddle boards, jet skis, fishing etc. We wanted to do paddle boarding but the oars had melted from the heat, so we kayaked and melted ourselves from the heat but it was great and reasonably priced. There is beach access as well and the staff did a great job of cleaning the seaweed from the beach, however, the water was too warm to enjoy. Luckily the pools were perfect temps. Food and drinks were good, not crazy prices for a resort on July 4th. They had live music that was great and in multiple locations. Overall, we are 100% coming back for a day pass and will likely book a weekend at the hotel in the future. read more

The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are very large. That's it for the positives. We stayed in room 360. The bathtub appeared to have been reglazed and was showing signs of wear to the point that it looked filthy. Both toilets had deep gauges in the bowels making them look dingy. The tile around the shower has not been scrubbed in years and the floors were in desperate need of a machine scrub. This hotel not only charges a resort fee but they charge for parking and a game fee. I still don't know what the resort fee was for because the WiFi was non-existent. Breakfast was included but you cannot go over $60 which I thought was easy until you see they charge $19 for pancakes!!!!! If you want to be nickel and dimed this is the place for you. We ate dinner here one night and we were not wowed. The Mohana restaurant lacks attentive service for the prices they charge. read more

This was our first time staying at this resort. The good: - there are 6 pools, one big one and five small ones. We didn't have an issue finding seats at at least one of the pools and they were salt water which was great! The adult pool was difficult to get a seat at times. - the beach area is nice but too shallow for adult swimming, would be great for kids. Resort is super kid friendly, which may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. They had tons of activities for kids each day. - overall for being resort food the food wasn't bad and the servers were all friendly, although service was pretty slow. - gorgeous location and overall resort. - rooms were spacious and loved the lanai. It was really nice to have two bathrooms. - didn't feel super crowded. - we had a car but didn't feel the need to leave much, so you could probably be fine here without a car at all. The bad (normally I wouldn't have this many but at almost $1000 a night cash rate I'm more picky) - No food service at any pools but the big one so you have to walk over to the beach bar if you want drinks at any of the smaller pools. - Housekeeping never came during our stay, we were out and about until 3pm or so each day and they never came by during the 8 hours we were gone so we ended up just putting up the dnd sign when we got home as we were reading to shower etc at that point. - The fees - almost $90 a day in parking and resort fees. It seems at this price point you could include parking. The only value I saw from the resort fee was water bottles which is kinda bare minimum to provide in my opinion. When asking about the resort fee we were told it covers the pools and towels and waters. At the rate you pay per night, seems excessive. - We had a late night flight and asked if we could use showers to change after we checked out. We've done this at many other resorts before no issue. We were informed it would be $31 each to be able to use the spa showers. Every other resort I've been to either has a shower at the gym/pool bathrooms you can use for free (including both other resorts we stayed on our keys trip) or lets you use the spa changing room if you arrange it for free. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the resort. We paid on points but if I was paying what is listed as the cash rate, the bad would have been much more at the forefront for me. read more

Surprised my mom with a trip here for her birthday and we stayed from Friday night to Sunday and had an amazing experience. From first entering the property, the windy tree lined roads are really inviting and beautiful. Upon entering the lobby, I will say the room looks like they just moved in and haven't finished furnishing it yet, but it's still nice. They checked us in and gave us the option to have a complimentary glass of champagne or sparkling cider. They also give you complimentary metal isla bella water bottles (they don't have insulation so the water gets warm quickly, however, there are numerous water stations with cold water all around the property). They also gave a very in-depth explanation about the property and upgraded our room to a veranda one. The room itself was very nice and roomy. When you first ever, there's a decent sized hallway with an entry table. There's a closet with 2 robes and iron, a tv, a desk, and a side table with drawers. Theres also a coffee maker with pods, a wine opener, a safe, and a fridge. We had the nicest bell man, Chris, who helped us with our luggage from the car, and helped us find our room. I love that every single room at this resort is ocean facing, and I love that there's 5 pools on the property. You can just walk out from your door and walk 5 feet and you're at one of the pool. There's even 1 adult only pool by the sushi restaurant/volleyball courts. They also have seating just in the sand facing the water right in front of the rooms, by the beach bar/games area. Theres also beach seating in front of the water at their beach by the main pool. If you continue walking down by the beach/main pool, you'll find a nice dock with seats and hammocks under the trees. It's a nice place to watch the sunrise/sunset. They also have a long dock in the back near the volleyball courts. The volleyball court has a box that contains numerous volleyballs and other items to play with. They also have seating/fire pits in-between the beach bar/mahina. The staff is so amazing here. Besides one bad server and one bad bartender experience, everyone else has been so amazing and attentive and nice. Another thing I love is the little activities they have daily. I feel like a lot of them are more tailored for children but I did attend an event where we got to make our own salt scrub and I will say I had a good time there. There was a mix of adults/children. The weekend I went was right after Labor Day weekend so it was pretty quiet despite there being a wedding. I heard from other guests/workers that this place is usually really busy, so we got lucky. I would definitely come here again. I think the price is definitely worth it for what you get/how great the customer service/rooms are. read more

My family of four had an absolutely fabulous five days at Isla Bella. The staff here are super attentive and helpful. It had beautiful grounds that we never tired of. In addition, the food here, albeit pricey, was pretty good. We ate breakfast here every morning but one and had sushi one evening at their sushi restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at both places. Wanted to try the burger joint but never got around to it. We also rented jet skis over at the general store. Juan was an awesome guide, and I highly recommend the sunset option. It was higher than the day rentals, but watching the sun set while out on the Gulf was so cool. The bike rental was also a highlight. Biking the old seven mile bridge was so much fun. It was a free rental for two hours. My family took part in other activities, like painting, and I want to say that Brittany was such a kind and pleasant employee to work with there. The views from the room are lovely. The complaints I've read are due to the size of the beach. Maybe, but they have multiple pools on the premises. I didn't view that as a strong negative. Others complained about service, but that wasn't our experience at all. Quite the opposite. Every time we needed something they bent over backwards to accommodate, always with a smile. I don't recall an employee here who wasn't top notch. I went to Isla Bella needing some R&R. That need was fulfilled. If I ever make it back to the Keys, this will be the place I'll be staying. Sandy toes set on a sunrises and sunsets. We had an amazing time celebrating a birthday over the weekend. Although there some minor hiccups with the ekeys to the room, the rest of the trip was pretty seamless. Their grounds and personnel were spectacular! From the reception desk to the rooms, decor was on point. Each staff member was friendly and welcoming, sharing great conversation and charm. Lynn was an amazing yoga instructor, I mean who doesn't love to flamingo on the beach with the sun seeping through the palm trees and ocean breeze keeping you grounded. Higher than 4 stars but not quite 5. The second half of our stay was at the Ritz Carlton, Miami and the Ritz always represents the highest possible rating. The views, the clean rooms and the landscaped grounds were excellent. I loved the palm tree lined paths that took us around the property with signs making it easy to find the building you need to get to. Friendly staff. They have a nice spa too which I found relaxing and enjoyable. Be careful though, they will casually ask you during your massage if you would like CBD oil without telling you it costs extra, then afterwards charge you $30 for it. (This sort of thing has never happened to me at the Ritz, or the Kohler Spa for that matter) The pools were nice and fun for the kids. I do think they should send servers poolside to both take your order and deliver food. It's kind of expected at this price point. There are multiple pools too but we spent most of our time at the main one that overlooked the beach. The beach was nice, pretty, and relaxing. My kids fully appreciated both the high tide and low tide. Saw lots of jellyfish during low tide. As far as dining, most of the food was great. The Marketplace offers plenty of beverages, breakfast and lunch along with snacks, a candy station (that cost $18/pound, so be on top of your kids so it doesn't add up too much!) Also, they sell sunscreen but no Hawaiian Tropic or anything standard. So go to Walgreens for that or you will be paying $33 for a bottle of their premium brand which ran out suspiciously fast. Ouch! The food at the Beach Bar and pool dining were decent and serene. Fire tables alongside the beach. The service was SLOW but I'm never sure when I come to places like this if the service actually is slow or I just come from a place where people are overly-hurried so it just feels slow. Friendly though. There are beach games the kids can play after dinner like giant chess and connect 4. Mahina, the more formal sit down restaurant is right around the corner so both dining options offer beautiful views of the sunset over the water. The same desserts are offered at both and the key lime pie is absolutely heavenly! The crust is homemade and buttery. So much better than key lime pie you get at other restaurants. At the end of the day, great food, amazing views, nice rooms. But like everywhere else down here service is lacking. Also, sneaky up-charges you need to watch out for. Would be great if Marriott bought this out, could really work out the kinks. read more

My recent stay at this property was entirely compromised by front desk manager, Tarisha. She was a pregnant African American female with tattoos. We were explicitly told by staff that we could extend our stay for an additional night. Tarisha abruptly revoked this agreement, stating the room was booked, and forced us to relocate to a distant section of the property deactivated our room keys and granted a strict five-minute window to clear out all belongings, threatening immediate late fees if we failed, making this demand impossible and vindictive. This level of customer service is unacceptable for any hospitality brand. read more

I spent a week here with my family, overall it was a good time and Marathon was lovely but I was not blown away by the hotel overall. Our room was pretty nice, I think all the rooms were either suites or 2 bedrooms. It was a weird setup though where our bedroom was the front of the layout towards the elevator and entrance so you couldn't open your window or you'd be exposed and there was noise from the elevator. Meanwhile the view and the balcony were in our living room. I did enjoy that we had two bathrooms and plenty of space to spread out, as well as a mini fridge. Our reservations included a set amount to spend on breakfast every day. I was able to try a lot of the breakfast menu over the course of the week and the food was good, but after a week it was a little repetitive and if you wanted a beverage you'd go over budget. The servers could be slow to take your order which made it challenging with our big family that would sometimes come at different times. We also had dinner for my dad's birthday one day at the main restaurant. That was quite tasty, but the variety at the pool and the beach bar were pretty limited. And sadly the sushi bar was closed during our visit. Thankfully there were a lot of other good restaurants on the island but you'll definitely need a car. Online they said they offered a free cocktail during sunset but when we went to the bar to get it they said they were not doing that and referred us to the front desk. The front desk honored their claim and did give us each a drink voucher but it took a little effort to get it. The property has 3-4 small pools by the rooms (I think 3 plus one adult one). I would have loved to swim laps in the morning in the one by my room but they are all not very big and also not open until 9AM. The main pool is much larger but not set up for swimming laps. During the day we often could not find anywhere to put our stuff. I had a lot of fun swimming with my family there but never really got to relax there. The beach area is pretty mediocre which is expected since there aren't a lot of beaches in the area. I enjoyed the yoga amenity a few times as well as tie dye t-shirt making with my family. Some of the other kids activities were a little less well organized or announced. We wanted to rent paddle boards from the boathouse but they were never going out while we were there. I appreciated that there were a lot of water filling stations. After I left I realized I left a few articles of clothing behind but the hotel did not help me find them. read more

We booked Isla Bella staying four nights after three nights at the Opal in Key West. If I could get out of my reservation and book Glunz Resort I would switch. Upon arrival they inform you that the property is no smoking anywhere on the property. There was no mention of this when I booked it. The Opal in Key West does not allow smoking on your balcony or at the pool and restaurant. I have no problem with that. However, you can walk a very short distance off the property to smoke. At Isla Bella no smoking anywhere on the property entails a half mile walk off the property, hello I am in Florida, not California. The last time I checked, smoking cigarettes is still legal in Florida. There should be a smoking area somewhere away from non-smokers! I have stayed at Glunz Resort on Key Colony the last three years, but I thought I would try something new this year. I am NEVER coming back to Isla Bella in Marathon "California". Anyone looking to book in Marathon should consider Glunz Beach Resort. It is more friendly, it has less restrictive rules, better view and hot tubs; and it has a fun bar next door (Havana Jacks). It also has better amenities in the room, and it is less expensive. On a positive note, the food at their restaurant is probably among the top five restaurants in Marathon and the staff is very friendly. The management needs to update their booking on their website to make it clear and honest that they have an insanely restrictive policy about smoking. read more

Honestly so disappointed, the photos do not live up to what's posted online. Rooms looked like bare minimum even though we stayed in one of their top rooms. Terrible sheets we had a ripped duvet and terrible housekeeping. We got locked out of our room at 12am for over an hour due to our battery on our door dying. Food was decent although room service is very expensive and comes cold (takes so long even just for a single dish). Only one tiny beach on the whole resort to swim at lots of kids and dogs are welcome so depends if you want that. Walls are so thin we could hear our neighbors drunk all night! I give this beautiful place a 5 star. The resort is amazing, the rooms comfortable and clean. The food and service amazing also (especially Angelique in Mahina and also the manager there). A very relaxing and chilling place. A lot of pools accessible from the rooms. Drinks are good. Place is expensive and parking is $30 plus tax per day. If you buy the Dining Package it says there is unlimited snacks and soft drinks, but no one seemed to know where they were. The service for breakfast was equally fantastic and Jennie was the best! If you want robes you need to ask the front desk as they are not provided in the rooms. No complaints we can't wait to return ! read more

We had a very disappointing stay at Isla Bella this summer. Unfortunately, this visit was nothing like our previous experience. Safety Concern at the Pool: I fell at the entrance of the pool while holding my toddler due to the amount of grime and buildup on the surface. Shockingly, I wasn't the only one--another woman and a mom carrying an infant also slipped in the same area. This clearly points to a serious safety and cleanliness issue. Room Issues: Our room was hot, musty, and smelled overwhelmingly of Clorox. It was filled with mosquitoes, and there were squashed bugs on the walls and ceiling--presumably left from previous guests. This made it feel extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable. Poor Customer Service: I emailed the resort two weeks ago detailing our experience and haven't received any response. At checkout, no one even asked how our stay was. A woman who seemed to be a manager (older, blonde) was speaking negatively about another guest right in front of us, which made us very uncomfortable and discouraged us from raising our concerns in the moment. One Positive: The market on-site was the only pleasant part of our visit--the food and service there were great. Sadly, Isla Bella has declined significantly since our last visit. Based on this experience, we will not be returning and will be looking for a new summer destination. read more

This might have been a good place to visit about 10-15 years ago, but our visit was anything but enjoyable. Our room was borderline filthy, and generally, everything seems neglected, tired, desperately needing deep cleaning, repair, or a full rehab. Whether at the restaurant, the burger joint, or the beach bar, the food is simply terrible, and if that's at all possible, the service is even worse. Most employees have that distinct look on their face that clearly tells you that they'd rather be anywhere else doing anything else. The very first time we sat at the restaurant, we waited 30 minutes without anyone coming by to greet us and offer menus. I finally went inside to talk to someone, wondering if we actually needed to order at the bar. I was told that someone would come out and... you guessed it, no one did. Waited another 20 minutes, went back inside, and... was told that all we can get is coffee, since by then they had closed for breakfast. The next day we sat at the beach bar and ordered pizza. Not only did it taste worse than the frozen pizza you get at the grocery store, but it was so undercooked, the cheese hadn't even melted and the dough tasted raw. I ate one slice and gave up. When we got the check and the waiter asks if I needed a box, I told him that I don't need one, explaining why. There was no acknowledgment and you could tell that he gave zero sh*ts. As I had already submitted some feedback, the F&B manager reached via email to invite us to give them another try but after two consecutive failures, I told her we'll be better off eating off the property. And, I we were. Separately, we booked through a third party OTA and we never consented to the property's privacy policy. That didn't prevent them from sharing my PII with at least three other partners, all sending emails within 24 hours of checking out. Multiple emails to the property went unanswered. There seem to be plenty of guests who like this place, but unless your expectations are really low, spare yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere. There is nothing luxurious about this hotel, and don't let the overall good ratings fool you. read more

They charge high prices for a low quality product. Why do they charge a $45 resort fee and $30 to park? Outrageous. The rooms are ok. In a standard room there is a chair and desk chair to sit on. We just completed a short vacation at Isla Bella (3 nights). I struggled between 3 and 4 stars but ultimately decided on 3. This is the good and the bad: 1) we arrived on a Monday and the restaurant that takes reservations was booked solid so the beach bar was the only thing open. It took us awhile to secure seating and they were severely under-staffed. It wasn't horrible (food was fine and our server was great even if he was running from one side of the resort to the other). 2) on Tuesday it was less crowded. We got up and went to the market onsite for coffee and pastries. It was all good. The Market is very nice. Went to the beach and secured seats easily. We laid out at the beach but spent a lot of time at the pool. The beach does not have swimmable water which is very disappointing. The pool was really nice. The water was perfect. Again, big miss on lack of service. There are no servers at the beach and really no servers at the pool. You place an order and have to keep watching for your food to be placed on a table. For the high cost of this resort, that is really unacceptable. 3) the Sushi restaurant was really good. 4) the rooms were clean and there were a lot of nice activities throughout the day like friendship bracelet making and Name that Tune. The bar area at night also had nice live music. There is a lot of walking (we were in the furthest building away) but that didn't really bother us. The views are really pretty. Overall, we had a nice time but it did not wow me at all. If I could change anything I think we would have stayed an extra day and gone on an excursion to a sand bar or maybe paddle boarding. I really didn't feel like I visited the Keys. It felt like I was on a Caribbean island without an amazing beach. I also think Isla Bella needs to up its game and provide 5 star service that matches its 5 star price tag. read more

Beautiful resort. Great customer service. Grace and her activities associate Travis went above and beyond and made the trip special. Rooms could be a little better (bedding could be updated, etc) but overall they work! Mahina at breakfast was excellent. Service staff food all good. At dinner not so much. Went to hostess stand with my family at dinnertime. The restaurant was empty. Hostess Manager told us they were booked for the night. I asked what time they'd need the table by. She refused to answer. Then had someone lead us to a small square table- clearly the worst table there so we would leave. Which worked because we did. This manager had an attitude. Was around Thurs March 13. Would also recommend some water slides for the kids into the lagoon pool- (or even inflatable waterslides into ocean) as the pools were nice but could use a little action! Our stay at Isla Bella was fine but not worth $1000/night. It's a nice resort, well-appointed for families with children, with plenty of pools to choose from including an adult pool. Despite the positives, our 5 nights here were choc full of minor disappointments. In summary, everything the hotel did was just slightly off for the premium price charged, mainly having to do with poor service and lack of attention to detail. First, there was no staff greeting us at the entrance upon our arrival, nor any bell service available. We found out later this was because there was a wedding going on that Thursday night so most staff was tending to the wedding, which shouldn't be the case. Essentially they are designed to be short-staffed. This happened the next night due to another wedding's rehearsal dinner and the wedding the following day. Next, thankfully our room was upgraded to the top floor (3rd floor) so we couldn't hear steps above us which I believe would have been a problem. There are no robes or slippers in the room which I'd expect at that price. Also, it was comical how present housekeeping is. We were constantly riding the elevator with housekeeping, bumping into them in the main walkway to the room, and even when we drove out of the resort for our final departure we had to yield to about 8 housekeepers with their carts crossing the street. It didn't matter what time it was, heading to breakfast, coming in after dinner, housekeeping was riding the elevators with us. There should be a designated elevator or service elevator for them. Next, get ready for the fees. Hotels obviously have fees but this list of fees on the final bill was exceptional. In total there were 9 extra fees and taxes, the most annoying of which were the parking fee ($30), parking fee tax, plus a "destination fee", plus a "resort fee". All of the fees and taxes combined added 22% to our nightly rate. We also booked a Two Conch's fishing charter (phenomenal experience) through the Isla Bella website which they didn't acknowledge upon check-in or assist with instructions even though the Two Conch's marina is onsite. 2 more things, bear with me. The breakfasts. Ours were "free" up to $48 through our travel agent. That covered breakfast for the 2 of us, not enough for the tip. That was without getting coffee or anything, the breakfasts are $20 - $25 per person. My husband got smoked salmon everyday and for some reason they brough ketchup for him everyday, and failed to bring him an actual plate for his bagel, it came in a basket, no plate. 2 days they brought him a tea plate and seemed confused why he was asking, then we got more specific with the type of plate we asked for. Also, after we got our breakfast, all 5 mornings, we never saw our waitress again, so ration your water, and hopefully you have everything you need because in our experience they don't come back to ask if you have what you need or how everything is. Last but not least the pool. There is no waiter service at the pool. You stand in front of a kiosk freezing if you're wet from the pool waiting to order your food or drink. Then there's no one to cleanup people's empty food, drink, or towels on chairs, so whenever we went to the pool in the afternoon there were dozens of abandoned chairs with people's wet towels and garbage all around. One afternoon there were no chairs available so my husband went to the front desk to inquire about a cabana at 3pm. He left the pool, waited at the front desk to speak with someone, they sent him to The Marketplace to talk to someone, when he arrived no one was there, so he went back to the pool with no information about the cabanas. Also, it was a similar situation as the pool at the fire pits at the bar at night. The fire pit tables were surrounded by empty, dirty glasses until the end of the night so you never really knew if a fire pit was available and if one was, you were in the midst of people's dirty, used cups and glasses. Like I said, everything was off for a 5-star, $1000/night place. We had a fine time despite the disappointments and overpaying. And the hotel's responses to other poor reviews on this site reference them "learning" from people's negative feedback. I find that somewhat frustrating as their learning experience in hospitality shouldn't come at my expense. read more

I left a necklace on the table (clean table because we cleaned before check out) vividly remember leaving the necklace right there on the table. Called the hotel a few hours after leaving to report left item and we were told to fill out a form on a 3rd party website. The staff were totally unwilling to help look for the item. We called back several times and nobody would help. I know where I left the necklace and I know that they kept it. read more

We went to The Beach Bar, within the resort. The staff was outstanding, created fabulous drinks, and nicely asked when we were ready for our next round. We didn't order any food items, but if they're anything close to how the drinks tasted, the food should be very enjoyable. I highly recommend this resort/bar and the staff will treat you like royalty. read more

The positive, the view and surrounding area is beautiful. The cons, for the second year in a row, upon our arrival, we get into our room and there were screaming kids running all over the place. The sliding glass door doesn't even stop the noise. Our shower was broken and the room seemed a little run down compared to last year. Once the kids were done screaming outside, they went into the room next to us and started screaming at an ungodly level. The adjoining door, which was basically a bathroom door since you could see light from the other room coming through, did absolutely nothing to block the noise. Finally after three calls to the front desk, they quieted down at 11:30pm. The next morning we found out our dog passed away and we needed to leave. Now I know we booked a non-refundable room, but due to the uncommon circumstances I hoped they would at least refund us for a couple of the 5 night stay that we would no longer be able to complete. Management gave a hard no to anything. Even after speaking to them after the fact they were cold and insensitive to the family emergency. We will not be going back there again. read more

I gotta be honest, for the price they shouldn't be charging for parking and amenities. The resort is small with little to do, and their high end restaurant was far from that. They also booked a wedding at the Pavilion which was right in front of our room that was very loud and should've placed guests away from that area. At checkout we had hidden charges that shouldn't have been there, like early check in when we actually arrived much later. The security and bellhop staff were great, and receptionists were kind and accommodating. It's a nice place with great potential, but needs better attention to detail. read more

Love this fantastic little shop! Come here for all your needs! They have coffee, cold drinks, craft beer, gelato and more! We have come here twice on our way to the lower Keys and Key West to grab a quick coffee. I recommend their Cold Brew!! While you are there shop for clothing, decor, lotions, gear, etc. We always end up spend at least 30 minutes pursuing their shop looking for just the right thing and we always find it! I sent a family here for a vacation. I called days in advance and completed a credit card authorization to cover all charges. At the end of the week when the family checked out, Isla Bella charged them for everything! When I called the hotel the lady that answered the phone came off annoyed and didn't even offer an apology, then transfer my call. The person who was now on the phone was not informed of anything and I had to retell what happened again. She proceeded to tell me the woman in charge of this, Crystal, was not in. That she will be in tomorrow to refund the guest and charge my card. When I asked how this happened, she did not know. No one offered an apology and everyone seemed annoyed. How do you think the guest felt when she was charged thousands of dollars instead of receiving a gift? Mistakes happen. However, based on the lack of empathy and the lack of ability to even make a simple apology, I will not be sending anyone else to this property, including myself who lives just a couple hours north. read more

Total disappointment overpriced motel The entire place is overpriced and overhyped. I have been fortunate to stay in many fine hotels and trust me this isn't one of them. Horrible noise (very thin walls). overprice and then they charge you a parking and resort fee (Really?), terrible service (most people on property are untrained), bad housekeeping (room dirty on arrival). Modern luxury brought to the Keys. This is my new favorite resort in the keys! Located in Marathon FL this modern luxurious resort just about has it all. The photos don't do this place justice! It's a must see and must stay and play. This beautiful resort sits off the main highway in the key of Marathon just after mile marker 45. Upon entering you are immediately greeted by security at their gates as you enter a beautiful path to paradise. Once arrived, you exit the parking lot area into the most shaded and breezy palm walkway I've ever seen. You have a choice to make your way to the hotel reception area, your suite, or straight out to the beach area. See photos! While enjoying your stay young have access to all sorts of excursions and activities which are INCLUDED IN YOUR STAY! Such as fishing and paddle boarding, etc. There are over 5 private pool areas and a huge pool area next to the private beach on property. Additionally, there is a resort restaurant and Spa for use as well. Their rooms are very modern with a coastal feel to its interior design. Things you should know: Parking: $25/day or $50 valet/overnight There are NO microwaves on property available due to "safety " concerns however, there is a $25/day kitchen rental available (we did not use this). The rooms have just about everything you can think of Incase you forget any items at home. I can't wait to go back! I am very dissapointed by my recent stay at Isla Bella. This review is not a reflection of the day to day staff or amenities which were both very lovely. This review is of the poor and un-empathetic management. My parents booked a trip over Memorial Day weekend for our entire family (13 people in total) to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. Although the resort is super expensive and the beach leaves a much to be desired, we were having a pretty nice vacation overall. On the last day my parents and I am my 2.5 year old son were eating lunch at the resort pool at their dining tables when, out of nowhere, an Iguana run up on top of my mom and bit her on the mouth. We all ran from the table but 3 more Iguanas came to claim the rest of the food while we all tended to my mom. Her lip was bleeding quite a bit and both my parents being doctors knew she needed medical attention for her wound as well as any infectious disease Iguanas may carry. The pool staff were nice, giving her towels and ice but once Management got involved (because we sought them out) essentially nothing was done. My ended up having to get her own cab to and from Urgent care where he wound was treated, she was put on antibiotics and given a tetanus shot. Not a single staff member called to check in, wanted to talk about what happened, and the only way we even got a response was from incessant calling on our end. What we really wanted was some basic human decency, some accountability, and some kind of response as to how they could prevent something like this in the future (AKA put signs up in the eating areas stating that Iguanas can be aggressive when you have food?) There is no indication of this anywhere and furthermore two staff members tried to say that my 72 year old mother was "provoking" the animals by eating in THEIR DESIGNATED EATING AREAS. I keep thinking what if this had happened to my son who was sitting right next to her. The damage would have been horrible. Other pool goers said something similar happened the previous year and the couple threw their food into the bushes to avoid being "charged" by Iguanas. Again, animals are animals, and if you cannot keep them off the enclosed property, you have a duty to warn guests and let them asses the risk. Sadly, this poor response by management seems to be a pattern and clearly when it comes to safety and well-being of guests, they simply do not care. read more

Very Nice beach front resort with many pools beautiful view, and great spa services. We are local and put our guests here frequently. However, the food is slightly below great, not bad but not great, sometimes a little tough like ribs on the grill when they have it. But timing of restaurant not accommodating to vacationing guests. Breakfast over at 10:30 sharp so no late night out. Then nothing until 12:00 other than hotdogs at the pool. For this level of resort the Chef needs to more accommodating. Needing a post-Covid anniversary getaway, we discovered Isla Bella as an island adventure without leaving the country. The rooms are designed beautifully and quite spacious, with lovely balconies or patios, and "water views" every time. Now the "water" isn't quite visible from all the rooms - you could be facing the marina or the mangroves or the bay. Also, higher floors have a more expansive view but the first floor has the distinct advantage of immediate pool access. The F&B is lacking - there are few options, but not something to call out. The drinks are quite terrible - just a lot of ice and sugar syrup. In Dec '21, there was no poolside service and you had to get your own towels from the stack, drop them back after use, and walk up to the bar to order food. The sunsets are gorgeous and the hammocks are a delight, but the "programming" is loosely defined - don't count on it. We couldn't use the bikes because they were being replaced or the kayaks because it was a few windy days. The age range was wide, young families, romantic couples, cute senior couples but you didn't see much diversity otherwise. Service and F&B could make this property higher ranked but at this point, the buildout is amazing but not enough to bring us back. They were short-staffed so we had to tackle our bags on our own and when our key "bands" stopped working, they were not able to send anyone with reprogrammed ones. Don't be fooled by Isla Bella Resort's beautiful photos -- while the setting may be stunning, the service is shockingly subpar and absolutely not what you'd expect from a resort that markets itself as luxury. I booked my stay using my American Express card, but I wasn't even aware of any Amex-related perks when I made the reservation. It was only at check-in that the front desk associate handed me a printed sheet outlining the American Express benefits: daily breakfast for two (up to $60/day), a $100 resort credit, early check-in, late check-out, and a potential room upgrade. I even received a welcome gift of chocolates as part of this program. While I understood that early check-in and upgrades weren't available due to capacity, I was clearly told the breakfast and resort credits were valid and part of my stay. At checkout, none of those credits were reflected on my folio. When I inquired, the first associate told me they didn't apply because I hadn't booked through the Amex Travel portal -- a detail that was never mentioned when I was explicitly presented with the benefits at check-in. When I explained that the sheet had been handed directly to me, another associate said it "may have just been left in your room" -- and then followed up with, "We'd have to check the cameras to see if she handed it to you."Let that sink in. I was essentially accused of lying about an interaction that their own team initiated. At a "luxury" resort, this is absolutely unacceptable. When I asked to speak with a manager, I expected some level of professionalism or empathy. Instead, I was met with a passive-aggressive and defensive attitude. The manager only applied the credits -- and gave a half-hearted apology -- after I directly asked for one. By then, the damage had already been done. And that wasn't the only issue: * Room service got our dinner order wrong, and I had to physically walk to the restaurant to correct it. * Breakfast the next morning was also incorrect, and it took four phone calls to get it fixed. * Staff throughout the resort seemed untrained, uninterested, and at times outright rude. This wasn't one bad moment. It was a pattern of poor service, poor communication, and a clear lack of hospitality training. No guest paying premium rates should ever feel dismissed, disrespected, or -- worst of all -- accused. To quote restaurateur Danny Meyer in Setting the Table: "The answer is yes. What is the question?"That's how exceptional service works. Isla Bella would do well to adopt that mindset -- starting with sending every employee and manager through proper customer service training. I was a little skeptical after seeing the negative reviews and thank god we sticked to our plan spending a week with family in this gorgeous place. The hotel only opened in March and looks so refreshingly amazing. When you first enter the lobby it feels like being part of the Architecture Design cover. Friendly staff throughout our stay, we also learnt that they've recently had a new leadership team to bring the service at par of a luxury resort and we were so blessed to be able to experience it. I had to work most days during our stay and the first floor beach access is a true blessing. Is it funny to say that I'm glad this resort does have a work desk, unlike some other luxury property at the keys where I had to just sit on the floor (which I don't really mind). I love how relaxing it is while still being able to get connected. Oh and WiFi here is amazing! You know how crucial that is on a semi-work vacation trip. The resort fee includes all activities you can take advantage of. I also like their morning yoga which is a great start of the day. Overall amazing stay I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

This resort that opened in March is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. The spa, the building with all the rooms, the restaurant, and pool all are modern and look amazing. Staff were very friendly throughout. The only downside to this place is that there's no place to swim where the water is clear. Wherever we were, we saw lots of murky water with seaweed. read more
