Passing through Marathon & this was least expensive place. It was about what we expected. Although it was a bit rough around the edges. Our room was large w/ 2 doubles a table and a kitchenette. Also a microwave & mini fridge. Place had a pool but we missed the cut off. Beds were ok w/ 3 pillows each. No night stand but a dresser in between which was too high to see items on top from bed. Main complaint was the shower. It had a stationary shower head plus a hand held on a hose. The regular one was super old & missing a piece that makes it spray so it merely shot 4 fat streams at you w/ no pressure. The other had a broken bracket so it couldn't be placed up high. Just dangled upside down. Now the worst part was there was no HOT water. It was lukewarm so had to make it short. Since no staff is on site at night there's nobody to complain to. read more

You can't beat this road side motel for the price. Clean linens and room, comfy bed, felt safe as solo traveler. My room had enough space for two large bags and a bike and still able to move around. Includes small fridge. Thanks would recommend for a value no frills central location for walking or biking in marathon. If I had to give negative input, it would be the door lock is not great and could use replacement. read more

The rooms are clean but need maintenance.. Just bare bones. For what I payed ( booked 6 months ago) $145 , for a regular queen room, so not worth it. Bed was ok but two tiny pillows that saw their prime a long time ago. Toilet is so close to the wall, I had to sit at an angle. Crappy patio chair (1) with no room to sit on patio to sit without being half in driveway. Could hear every door slam from every room all night. People that live behind motel use parking lot as a cut through to US 1. Pool was nice although it could use a good scrubbing of its walls and floors. read more

This motel may be a low price for the keys but be aware. In the middle of the night my partner had cockroaches go over her face. We turned on the light and there were a lot of them crawling around the room. We both did not get any sleep that night. In the morning the hotel said they treat the rooms for cockroaches and would not offer any compensation! This room was a very big deterrent not to visit the keys again anytime soon. Horrible Stay , Nothing at this motel works we were in handicapped room number 23 Shower was barely working the shower attatched t on the wall did not work ,There was a handicap shower chair the legs were broken and bent Bring your own shower chair if u dare to stay there. The pool had handicapped lift for show only was told by employee that it had t worked all year .The rooms were filthy if u look at my picture and their pictures from 2014,they have the same bedspreads !!! Floors don't look like they have been mopped in months bed linen were old the beds were old and springs coming through . Motel is outdated and by the looks of it should be condemned !! Great affordable option for my stop over while driving down to Key West. Clean and safe for budget

Gross! Could not wait to get out of there. My husband paid for two nights before we saw the room but I couldn't stand another night there and checked out as soon as we could. The owner was a very nice guy except when it came to refunding our second night even though we checked out very early and even though all rooms were full. I guess everybody is looking or a great deal but believe me you get what you pay for. I did not feel safe there. The lock was not secure and the toilet seat was loose. I did not feel the sheets were cleaned. The shower barely had hot water or water pressure. read more

This was my second time staying here and it was better than the last. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I stayed in Room 23. It reminded me of an efficiency. As I walked in the room, I noticed the smell of "clean" and that's all I need in a room. Very convenient location as well! Of course there are imperfections but that's with any structure. This motel far exceeded our expectations. The rooms are clean, roomy and close to everything. There is a private beach with the most gorgeous sunset view, chairs and lounges. Housekeeping is wonderful. Chris, the owner goes above and beyond, he even fixed my bike chain when it fell off. He offered, I didn't even have to ask. The pool is very well kept, just enough chlorine to be clean without burning . The beds are comfortable. We were there for 10 days and I cannot think of anything they could do better. I've vacationed all over and this was the best time experience. Oh, I forgot to mention the water pressure...amazing. Usually hotels have the restrictions, not here, great shower. read more

The Sea Dell handled this situation very poorly. While we did stay two nights before discovering these welts, which look very much like bed bug bites, they immediately dismissed our concerns, denied these were bed bugs and wouldn't even take time to thoroughly check our room. We've never had bed bugs, but these sure looked like it after other guests saw them and we started researching ourselves online. I can't say for sure these are bed bugs but we have learned after further research that they can hide in numerous places we never checked. We were just severely disappointed that they just didn't seem to care when we showed them these bites. read more

Had to get a room, last minute, in the Florida Keys during mini lobster season. Left a resort style 5 bedroom house, on the water, with every single amenity known to mankind, to find a place that I could recover from a really bad illness. Florida Keys - 2 day mini lobster event - and I need a room right now, for a couple of nights. Willing to max out all and every credit card I have. Alas, there were no rooms ANYWHERE. except........... Sea Dell Motel. 129USD. There was a vacancy. It was clean, it was cool, it was quiet and the folks that work there were very very nice. Free WiFi! Excellent location on Overseas Highway. Even had a pool right there in front of the motel, on the highway, yes indeed, a pool on the highway. Didn't get a chance to induldge in that experience but I wouldn't hesitate to come back here again. It was A-OK! read more

Such a cute little motel and they were open late for us to check in. Unfortunately when we got up to leave the next morning we found a bed bug skittering across one bed and shells/ feces under the fitted sheets of the other bed. The owners were so kind and apologetic and let us use their industrial dryer to heat up all of our belongings so that we didn't have to cry and burn them all. In the end, it's the Florida Keys and I'm sure they can be found in any hotel, but I would be doing a disservice if I didn't at least suggest checking for the tell tale signs (red, rust colored spots or black shells/ feces) on the bed before sleeping in it. Also NEVER PUT YOUR LUGGAGE ON THE BED EVER! The owners assured us they would treat it and they refunded our money and they couldn't have handled the situation better. read more

Not clean, No Excuses. We booked the last room they had for the evening, after an issue with our AirBnB rental. The time was 2 am. It was the beginning of spring break and everything was sold out. The front desk clerk was super friendly and showed us the room prior to booking it. Seemed like a nice place and we had even decided to book for the week and stay with a local place instead of a hotel chain. After paying $200 for the one night, we checked in and carried in all our bags. We get ready for bed and pull back the sheets. My husband, daughter and I all look at each other. The sheets are full of small curly hairs and one bed had a scab in it. We quickly pulled the bed cover back up and got the towels out and slept on those. In the morning, we went to tell the office of the situation and we would not be booking the rest of the week. The owner stated that wasn't like her staff and they changed the sheets all the time. We asked her to come take a look at the beds and she said no. As we packed up, we saw her outside and again asked she take a look at the beds. She said no and stated she asked her staff if they changed the sheets and they said yes. She said she believed her staff and maybe it was a washing machine issue. Okay, this statement does not make the situation better. She gave us a $20 credit and said to give her a great review because they need those. We were there for the week and willing to spend money, we didn't want the credit. We wanted a clean place to sleep for the night. read more

My husband and I have stayed at the Sea Dell Motel a few times and had always had a nice stay. We especially enjoyed the nice pool. We stayed there last month on the way down to Key West and were disappointed. The pool was so dirty that we couldn't even use it! Our room was fine, but we really wanted to use the pool.... We will give it another chance when we return next year, and really hope to be able to use the pool. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this quintessential little Florida motel. Friendly, knowledgable staff who assisted us with any need we had. The A/C didn't work well in our first room, so we were upgraded to a suite for the same rate. They also moved our check-out time to an hour later for the inconvenience. Only other minor thing was the outlet for the coffee maker didn't work. No big deal at all considering the rooms were comfortable, clean and convenient to everything. Room was clean and nice. Very cute little place. Price was good. Pool was clean and sparkling. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was not so nice. Returning from the beach and trying to shower and wash away sand it was impossible to not get water all over everthing in the bathroom. It could use a complete rehaul on the shower and more hooks to hang clothes and items so they dont get wet. read more

Just got back from three nights at the Sea Dell. It was out first time visiting the Keys and we couldn't have been happier with where we chose to stay. Sure the rooms are basic, but they are also very clean, located in a great spot, with friendly staff, and all for a great price! What more could one ask for? I was so pleased to have discovered this lovely hotel in Marathon. The property is charming, and my room was very clean and comfortable. The shower has wonderful water pressure, perhaps the best of any hotel I've ever experienced. There was even a little seating area outside of my room where I could sit in the evening. The trees on the property are wrapped with colored lights, which are lovely. The property is right off of Marathon's main road, but the property itself is quiet and feels secluded. The location is also very convenient to restaurants, Walgreens, etc. My room had a half-size refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker (for which coffee was provided each day), and a separate sink in the "cooking" area. The wifi was very easy to access and uniformly good. I'm so glad I stayed here instead of one of the big chains. Great job, Sea Dell! read more

If you're looking for a friendly, quaint, no-frills place to sleep and relax on the cheap, this is it! The staff is great and they seem to set the tone for the guests. I've stayed here twice and everyone is polite and relaxed, no drama. Folks will share places to hit for food or drink that you wouldn't find on your own. Also, as another reviewer pointed out, it's a great location to 'base' out of while going to the other Keys as it's near the 50mm. You can enjoy a trip to Key West and then retreat back to this peaceful place. I can't wait for my next stay here! read more

I specifically took a business card so I wouldn't forget to tell everyone how great this place is! Went down to the Keys with no reservations. Everything was $400 a nite. I was just looking for a place to rest my weary head for a night. Had stayed at other places down there and was disappointed. But we were getting tired and just took a chance. What a great idea. For about $100 we got a comfortable bed in an immaculate room. It's not what you would consider luxury, but we weren't looking to pay for luxury. All I can tell you, is GO GO GO. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while we visited the Keys. The price was great, and all of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The rooms were basic, but clean, which was what we were looking for since we didn't plan to spend much time at the hotel. My only complaints: #1-the bed in our room (room #3) was hard. I sleep on my side and kept waking up with my hips aching because the mattress was hard. #2- the night we decided we wanted to enjoy the pool, there was a group of adults out there smoking and drinking. It would be very helpful if there were a no smoking policy around the pool so that others (including children) could enjoy it without inhaling a cloud of smoke. read more
